    I remember growing up in Des Moines and going to see free slipknot shows after some headliner in safari club, still crazy to see how far they've came. Also, before their first ozzfest he installed the emg that are in my ibanez, burnt the finish three times, and to this day he remembers it when asked about a glitter blue ibanez circa 1998 from he old guitar shop. Glad I still have it. Before they left to record self titled and after he installed them, he played a riff like I've never heard to test it and make sure it worked, like a year later I realized it was wait and bleed. All the talk about him being a super cool dude...it's true. He is.

    I always enjoy hearing Mick talk about his guitars cause he genuinely seems to care about his ‘signature’ instruments....
    ...when he delves into all the details that went into making his models, how they differ from other stuff that’s out there, etc...
    - Unlike MANY other musicians who’ll simply put out hunks of $&@ for the sake of having something w their name on it...
    ...in order to make a quick buck off fans that are willing to pay good $$$ to own what their “heroes” perform (or record) with.

      ...cause he knew that fans would buy his guitars on just his name alone...

      Both levels actually. I absolutely hated the rosewood fretboard I got on my blood red Ibanez mtm1. This sick deep blood looking red guitar with a matching case, killer black hardware and black binding, neck through, and then it was just ruined by this ugly streaky lightbrown rosewood that Ibanez in Indonesia slapped on the guitar. I had it for a year or two and finally just couldn't stand the sight of it so I sold it on reverb. His personal models had ebony boards, not sure why the production ones couldn't. It really needed the black fretboard. Especially since all the iron label Ibanez's are coming out with the ebony fretboard.

    • @bradpierstorff1367
      @bradpierstorff1367 5 років тому +2

      I had an entry level Ibanez Mick Thomson signature. It was a terrible experience. The actual guitar was awesome and Mick's specs felt super nice but Ibanez some how fudged up the bridge on mine. Basically the saddles kept wearing out excessively fast and I would get burrs in the saddles that would snap new strings within 3 days. I tried everything to fix it but nothing worked so I ended up selling it and moving on to LTD. I love Mick and his guitar are awesome but I completely agree that Ibanez didn't give a shit about the cheaper model of his signature guitar. I still can't figure out why I was like the only person that had the issues I did. I replaced the saddles with new ones several times and my set up really wasn't much different than Mick's in terms of string gauges and tunings and such. Needless to say, the whole experience definitely turned me off of using Ibanez guitar in the future.

      Colin W I liked it it was nice and slim and plus the fingerboard radius made it comfortable to play. I have the import, went through hell and back to get it in store and not order it, and it’s very very impressive for the price. It plays just as well if not better as my gibson explorer. Like when I plugged it in and hit the first solo....... it was BLOWN AWAY, neck is so smooth it’s like butter. I was over shooting the notes at first because of how damn smooth it is ! Like wow ! I called 40 stores in two days looking for one and only wanted the white ! And I had to drive out of state to pick it up! And it was WELL WORTH THE TERRIBLE TRAFFIC FILLED RIDE!

My question is, did Jackson or Mick get with Doyle from the Misfits about his customized stationaty hard tail Floyd that he machined himself? Doyle is the first to have a fixed Floyd Rose. He's had it since he built his first guitar.

    • @daleweber2579
      @daleweber2579 6 років тому +1

      Mick's does have the two standard studs that every Floyd comes with but Mick's has a third one under it that locks in place so it doesn't dip into the cavity. Just when you re string a floyd.
      So, like a normal Floyd when you place a block in the cavity to keep floyd level when changing strings. This replaces of add something in there.
      Also, it looks as if you can fit either a Allen key or phillips screw driver to make adjustments or unlock it.
      Where it can be float Floyd like Eddie van halens top mount.
      The only Issue I see with Mick's is when changing strings the Floyd will fall down into the cavity on the typical Floyd you need to use the trem bar.
      Looking forward to his video on making adjustments and string changing on this.

    • @ezassegai4793
      @ezassegai4793 6 років тому +1

      exactly, Ibanez were restricting their artists too much in last couple months(not allowing evertune bridges, or pickups other than dimarzio or related brands).
      Tosin Abasis signature model pretty much was the most extravagant thing that ibanez did recently and he is gone too.
      Also the overall quality of the current iron label series by Ibanez seems to be all over the place, its such a shame :/
      Lots of stupid decisions have been made like putting nickel frets on the guitars and stupid crap like that.
