You are a life saver. This is the only video on UA-cam that solves my problem. I have a monitor without speakers and didn’t know how to connect my pc speakers to my Xbox.
Thank you so much 😊
No problem glad I could help.
Thanks. When they designed the new xbox they had a meeting. "What do customers want more than anything?" ... "I know more cables". LOL
No prob, lol.
Serious, they removed the ability to use one cable and forced us to use three cables instead. So stupid.
I know was a very dumb move.
After a fruitless few days trying to get an answer to this specific problem, i finally found your video!
Many thanks from across the pond.
Glad i could assist.

Thank You so Much!!! Three Hours later...I finally know what I need.
Thanks, at last a no bs explanation, jargon free! Good work!
Appreciate it
Keep up the good work fellow brother🤝🏽😈🐐🥶
Hello! I have some questions as
I’m still a bit confused (I’m so sorry 🙏🏼 been researching about this for weeks since I got the Xbox Series S but to no avail. Your video is def the easiest so far!!)
My monitor is the Samsung Essential Monitor 22” and it comes with only two ports (?) at the back - hdmi and vga input
On the other hand, I’m planning to buy Logitech’s Speaker System Z213. it connects via 3.5 mm headphone jack so do I still need the red and white wire thing (i dont understand what they are for) Thank you sm!
This video is a BLESSED!!! Thank you ❤
Thank you for watching.
This was really helpful. Thank you!
You're welcome
Sweet! Thanks for the video. I was able to get a free monitor and desk from work but set up my Switch and a Bluetooth speaker and I get sound but will need this video to help set up my Series S. 10/10 video.
No problem thanks for watching.
A really simple easy way to get audio on your monitor without having to buy these accessories is to get a 2nd controller and plug the speaker's aux cable into that 2nd controller. Then boom. You have audio AND you don't have to deal with the annoying aux cable plugged into your main controller. I do this and I tuck away the 2nd controller under my desk so it is out of sight and it works like a charm. This method is great if you already have a 2nd controller at home but if you don't, then it's cheaper to just do the method shared in the video.
Thanks for the Tip very helpful.
i can see this being useful. Using a bad controller as a portable audio jack could be very useful.
Can you explain in more detail how to do that?
@@petercasnocha5340 You plus the speaker into a controller. It has to be on. Then you Use a micro usb cable and plug the conroler to a power source.
you will need to power on that controller every time and have it set up to have both that and the one you are using work. An wala that wireless controller can run your sound.
@@trixsterjlable I still don’t understand bro I put my controller and it’s still not flogging me audio

What a great help to my problem!! Thank you very much
No problem.
Very very helpful YOU DA MANN!!!
Thank you man, I just barely thought about the concept, literally just tonight, of sound and why monitors can't usually do it.
Monitors are usually just for display, whereas TVs have audio built in, it just never clicked for me until tonight lol 😆
I'm trying to connect my Monitor to my Xbox and soundbar, and this video helped me realize what to do! Once again, thank you sir!
You are very welcome, thanks for watching.
@@Dcthetruth85 I don’t have that one hdmi part to connect
Great video explanation, thanks for help!
No problem thanks for watching.
Thanks, This helped me big time. Thumbs up.
No problem, thanks for watching.
Thanks you so much. Simple and tons of help
No problem thanks for watching.
Thanks man, is there a way to connect a green 3.5 cable to the controller directly and output sound the speaker?
Yes you could.
I bought the same converter except that it has dip switch settings (TV - 5CH - 2CH) which one should I select for my Xbox Series S? I'm using a monitor + aux speaker
I left mine on whatever the default ch is I believe. I'll have to take a look at it when I get home tommorow.
Thank you man you saved me a headache
No problem.
Thank you!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
could be a dumb question mate but will this effect the 120 fps or resolution in anyway?cheers
Great question,if you pick the wrong hdmi audio extractor it can. But I have the updated one in the Description. Basically make sure it supports 4k 60hz.
That is not a dumb question at all. It might. You’ll need a good adapter that supports the high speed 120hz 4K hdmi cable
Thank you just got a monitor and I couldn’t hear nun so I got scared thank you bro
No prob
Thank you! I was so disappointed when I got my series s (gave up on finding an x) and noticed no optical out!!! Wtf?! Its 2021 and NO optical out? Ugh. But again, thank you so much man!
No problem man, it's sad they didn't include one with the console.
How does this set up work with a gaming headset you plug in to your controller (wireless) Does the headset work or do you HAVE to use the soundbar or in my case logic computer speakers. I've ordered the adapter and speakers.
You can still hear sound from the gaming headset with or without this setup. In your case it would just be additional sound to your current setup if you got tired of wearing headphones, you would still have sound coming out of your speakers.
Will the adapter slow down the data transfer between the xbox and monitor over the hdmi 2.1 cable?
This one won't its built for next gen hdmi 2.1 amzn.to/2ZoiWgY
What is the Red and White cord connected to in the HDMI Audio Extractor??
RCA connector for RCA cable.
Can this work with Razer Nommo speakers or does it need to be a soundbar?
Soundbar or speakers whatever your preference is.
Does this (or any other brand/model) you have tried work with VRR/freesync? Thanks!
The 4k model in the description supports the higher refresh rate. So it works fine with my monitor that supports freesync.
@@Dcthetruth85 Ok, thanks! I tried a different brand that didn't work with VRR on my 1440p monitor. Then tried a hdmi splitter and it still didn't work. May just be an issue with my monitor, but may try the 4k one then.
You should be ok with the 4k one. I hope it works out with the VRR.
That’s the exact same monitor I have it’s a bit annoying as on the website it said I had built in speakers. Thanks this was very helpful so now I can watch films through my Xbox
No problem, yes website was very misleading for this monitor.
Do I still need this for better quality sound even if my monitor already has a 3.5 MM Jack? Also should I be using a dac with this?
If your monitor has sound you are good. And you can already use the 3.5 mm jack inside the monitor to connect speakers. this is for those who don't have a 3.5 mm jack on their monitor.
@@Dcthetruth85 Thank you. Yes I ended up getting the HDMI audio extractor and I compared it to my Sound Blaster XG6 and of course there was a huge difference.
What I needed to do was hook up the 3.5mm from my monitor, to my sound card, and then just plug my headphone through that. It's much better than just going directly into the monitor. Thanks.
Ah man good looking I'll do that with my next monitor.
@@Princeton_James how to connect 3.5mm port to our sound card bro ??
Thanks sooooooooo much 🙏
Anytime.
Delay?
Does this mess up the quality of the picture or mess up the FPS from being split?
No I have no issues in quality or FPS.
Im sorry im late to the party but im having the same problem, my monitor only has 1 HDMI port and 1 VGA port. Do the audio extractors have a 35mm audio jack port? I bought a USB soundbar thinking i would only need to plug in the USB to my series X to get sound but obviously there's also an audio jack for the sound lol
Yes they have them link in the description.
Thanks bro your a hero
No prob
The gamepass on pcused to work, now it registers as another player, so you cant control player one, it messes up ingame
hey, if my monitor had a 3.5mm jack, can i just simply connect to the 3.5mm audio jack and the sound is gonna come out to my speakers right?
Yes
@@Dcthetruth85 thanks.
My Asus gaming monitor only has audio in. Will this extractor work? I like to output to something than always wearing a gaming headset. Let me know your thoughts. TY
Yes it will definitely work.
Ty
I have a vga monitor and a speaker with usb, bluetooth and audio jack. Will be a "HDMI To VGA+3.5mm Converter" helpfull for me or I should buy something else?
HDMI audio extractor will still work for your setup.
@@Dcthetruth85 But there is no VGA port in it. 🙂
@@raadsiddique2090 Ok gotcha, get you a VGA to HDMI adapter and then the method in the video will work.
Would the aux cords work for different kinds of speakers
Yes
I only have one hdmi on my xbox and I use it to connect the monitor and xbox
I don't have a place for another hdmi cable
What should I do
What else are you trying to hook up to it? If it's just sound I show how to do it.
Got a dumb question but do you need a Pc not a monitor but a pc as well ?
No you can hook directly into a Monitor this way. No PC is needed.
Thanks!!!
No problem
Hero!
Why you didn't get a soundbar with hdmi port to plug into the monitor to get sound ?
Didn't know one existed at the time.
@@Dcthetruth85 I've had one for 2 years now but great video bro.
Is this a mandatory thing to buy this adapter to be able to connect my headphones through the controller ?
Nope u don't need this if you are using your headset/headphones plugged to your controller.
This method is ONLY if you wanted to use an EXTERNAL audio device such as speakers, sound bars etc.
I have an aux jack on my monitor would that work ?
I would work but you don't really need it with your monitor.
The updated one will do 1080p @ 120hz, but can it do 1440p @ 120hz??
I have no problem achieving it on XBSX games like Fortnite and Black Ops PS5 is a different story.
Does this work for ps4? My monitor has no speakers and I always have to plug in headphones
Yes it works for Ps4 as well. Although I assume the ps4 has an optical port which would be a better alternative.
Will you be able to talk in games if u connect a headset to it?
If its console like xbox headset going to connect through controller anyway so no issue.
Thanks, right now i just have head phones pluged in controller
can i use a mic instead of a sound box ?? and if no ,can i use any sound box ??
I'm not sure I understand about the mic, you can use a microphone headset with controller. But a traditional microphone that you would use with PC no Xbox software not compatible with it. Yes you can use any sound bar or sound devices of choice.
Hey if I buy the extractor can I plug an aux in it and hook it up to a speaker
Yes you can.
Thank uou
Finally
Thanks a lot bruh
You're welcome
Hello Can i just connect headphones through the controller and get sound if my monitor has no speakers?
Yes you can.
Is this a mandatory thing to buy this adapter to be able to connect my headphones through the controller ?
I want to hook it up to my 2016 surround sound, can i use this?
Shouldn't be a problem with that.
@@Dcthetruth85 appreciate it!
You can just use the 3.5 aux out on your monitor
Where do i get these from and which model
Amazon link in the description for this one and the updated one.
Why cant I Just Connect my USB speakers To my xbox Series s USB Port . That works on my Laptop but why Not on the Xbox.
Xbox unfortunately won't recognize direct USB connection. I know it's dumb.
i tried hooking speakers to my TV but still no sound. i may have to try this...
That's odd though, but This will definitely work.
What soundbar are you using in this video?
Vizio, it's in the title.
@@Dcthetruth85 thank you, I have the same monitor as you what should I look for when buying a soundbar. I want to make sure to get the correct one that matches my monitor.
Best sounding and what's in your budget.
@@Dcthetruth85 In the video you plugged a cord into your soundbar from the hdmi audio extractor. What did you plug it into? The Aux?
@@shadowmonarch8476 it was a aux cable went into the aux port on my sound bar.
Could u just by external speakers
By default you can't, but you can get a different style HDMI extractor to allow you to connect wireless speakers.
Will this work if my monitor has no sound will it give it sound
Yes it will.
Some of those don't support 60 fps or 4 k , etc etc. Make sure you check that
The ones in my description does.
Or u can get a aux cord plug it in back on monitor and plug it in the sound bar
Does it the extractor stop you from getting 120 fps
They have extractors that supports 120 fps link in the description.
So Where does the sound come from ? And does it support Ps4?
From whatever speaker you hook up to it. Yes it would work on PS4 but you don't really need it Ps4 has a optical connection for sound.
Hey, I hope your able to respond to this. My speakers are connected through USB only, is there a solution to this too? I have an Xbox series X with and monitor with no audio. Please help if you can
That's gonna be a difficult setup with those speakers you would have to get a capture card to accomplish that. It would be a lot cheaper to get a speaker that's compatible with hdmi extractors such a aux connection or digital output.
@@Dcthetruth85 thanks for your response, is there away to buy a bluetooth transmitter or device to go with the setup you demonstrated in the video?
@@lynnlynn239 You could try one of those aux 3mm Bluetooth transmitters in theory it should work but it needs a device to connect to such as a phone or smart device to control it i dont see how the speaker and transmitter would see each other.
@@Dcthetruth85 my speakers is also Bluetooth so i think it may work if I’m able to connect it possibly
What goes into the monitor, I only have 1 HDMI output?
1 HDMI cord goes from your output on your monitor to the output on the HDMI extractor. The other HDMI cable goes from the HDMI in on the HDMI extractor to the Console HDMI.
@@Dcthetruth85 cheers, if I've got this right, the box sits between the xbox and the monitor? Giving an extra hdmi connection. Now to try and make my USB Pc headset work while playing flightsim.
Well basically it extends the HDMI connection with extra benefits such as sound output. Now as far as your USB headset you are gonna need a USB dongle to get that to work.
Omfg thank you
No problem.
Which one did you get
What you mean HDMI audio extractor?
If in my monitor dont have audio, but if i connect my headphones to the controller i'll get audio on my headphones?

Question. Does it work on Xbox one
Yes, but Xbox one has a digital output which would be a better option.
I really do hope this work Been spending two days looking up youtube videos To get sound to work from my Xbox Series X. I wanna do with playing one single game But I have no audio so that's the pain that so I'm not playing It without no audio.
This definitely should solve your problem.
So would any audio extractor work?
Yeah but I would highly recommend the one that support 4k in the description.

No problem anytime.
how do you hook up a xbox series s to a monitor
It's explained in the video.
Can you capture gameplay still??
I do with a two monitor setup. 1 monitor you may need a HDMI splitter.
