The first Light vs. Best game was seriously one of the sickest games I've ever seen, the arbiter recall onto Lights army + stasis was like a protoss wet dream
Best really is the best Macro Protoss. That goon movement was INSANE. He's everywhere! Shuttle played extremely well vs Light. He missed the 3 tank sneak out, got dropped, had to cancel his 3rd, and Sill managed to go carrier and get a third. Such a good game.
@@utarian7 He played hella well dude. 8 gate MAcro while going carrier somehow securing a third and somehow taking huge fights in the map buying time for carrier. I mean Light didn't play super well, but common "Quite horribly" ? Ok so that 3 tank moveout dodging the observer, canceling the third, and then doing a drop right after killing a bunch of probes is "Quite horrible"? He played really well too.
@@alexfriedman2152 No man this was not Light anywhere near his best. Light at his best wrecks Mini, and utterly destroys Rain. Light at his best, as artosis put it, has an inevitability about him. That was felt in the first game against Best. But against shuttle, he made dubious decisions. The move out was strange in the first game. The 2nd rax blind to him, transparent to shuttle, was awful, but it worked because Shuttle was even worse with his refusal to cannon. The third map Light should have vetoed (I'm counting that as bad play).
I keep thinking the same thing! I'm a great fan of Artosis, but he keeps gushing and I keep wondering how the "clearly best Terran" can keep getting his a$$ handed to him. It's not like Light is getting cheesed; he's just getting out-thought and out-played, over and over. Very weird.
@@SplashJohn The thing is that all of the pros also say that Light is the best player. Seeing him perform so under expectation is disappointing, but Artosis isn't just talking out of his ass about Light.
Spoiler So happy to see Best perform just like in KCM where he's kept smashing all the best Terrans this year. He clearly was hyper focused, controlled all his units all the time all over the map, and that multi-Arbiter recall was glorious.
Get ready to see a lot of mirror matchups of P and Z in this and future ASLs. Terran is looking seriously underpowered in the current meta at the top level.
It's amazing how after the golden era, where Terran bonjwas kept appearing one after another, we're suddenly in an era where Terrans aren't really even competitive. It's probably the most micro intensive race though, so I can kinda see why: there's nobody with the control of peak Flash or Xellos or Oov, or even Nada or Boxer (though of course they benefited of a far less developed scene and less skilled opponents) around. Like Flash is physically incapable of that nowadays post-wrist surgeries (he IS only 31 so otherwise, once he gets his rust off, he could still be a top force since he's smart as hell) and the others are already 40+ (okay, Xellos is only 39) so their physical abilities have inevitably deteriorated. And no new truly impressive (to bonjwa-levels) Terrans have appeared since BW Remastered while we have the likes of soulkey and sn0w, who have done great for their respective races.
I think the Best vs Light game is just a revolutionary late game PvT approach. Theoretically, if T manages to max-out in the 200 against 200 supply late game fight, the victory is almost secured. However, Best proves that buying time for Arbiter recall to the main base and destroy deports to create a long time supply block for Terrace is really good late game approach which have huge damage on economy and cut-off resupply for over 2-3 minutes of Terrence army that leads to significant Protoss advantage. Really epic game by Best.
also the recall looked really bad at first but in retrospect Best knew exactly what he was doing. Light would have won a massive base trade if Best had done a huge recall
The recall to the main destroys over 110 supply of deports. At first, Light didn't even care much and continue pushing to the main of Best, Considering no damages on the factories or other natural. However, the next 2 minutes completely change the game, the 110 supply-block makes Light spend over 1500 minerals to rebuild deports and cut-off of resupply. The end game approach of Best in late game is really revolutionary and efficient.
Thank you Best for creative arbiter use. Overall I admire Best for stepping on the gas and purely outvaluing his opponent once the opportunity presents itself, and no later. Losing to that kind of bald-faced fundamental play forces people to reassess and metas to shift. In regards to Light, you must appreciate never handing the enemy the gun with mine placement. Also good guy Shuttle letting Light keep his assimilators LOL
I just watched some games/casts from Season 13 and I really appreciate the higher ingame sound volume. It 's just a little more immersive. @@TRYCLOPS1 Best never got the gas when he took the 3rd main/expo. So when Light killed his 1 o'clock base about 58:35 he quickly was down to just the depleted gas in his main/natural. That's why by the end he was so zealot heavy. He was about 4 minutes with half to quarter of 1 base gas.
@@TRYCLOPS1 Also Shuttle/Light game 1 Shuttle didn't pick up his 3rd or 4th base gas. At 2:20:45 the guys talk about it too. He was about the last 2 minutes with only depleted gas.

Eventually the minerals will dry out and I think he could have easily won out in the trade war. He sacrificed too much muscle and allowed Terran to catch up by focusing on quick stargates 2 arbitors instead of macro pumping and replenishing his center army.
