Amazing tutorial! It was the registration part that most tutorials skip over, BUT that's the most important part! Thought I was going to have to get another machine that would print AND cut. THANK YOU!!
It is a great printer! However, I hate how it burns through ink so quickly and how expensive the ink cartridges are to replace. But otherwise, a great printer!
Amazing! I saw how my friend print and cut with her cricut. I am still learning how to use my OG cameo after all these years. I am glad I found this video to show me that I could print and cut all along.
Fantastic tutorial! Exactly the sticker making instruction I was looking for! Thank you for explaining everything so clearly and simply. I've been looking forward to receiving my Cameo 4 and now I feel like I'm ready to hit the ground running!
I just upgraded from a Portrait to a Cameo 4 and found this vid. I love what you have posted on your other vids on using vinyl. I'm subscribed and can't wait to see what you do next! Thanks for the tutorials!
hi. before you offset on that first image you were working on, you can highlight it and go over to lines and pick the "invisible or black color" to get rid of those red lines in the image that the silhouette may read as cut lines
thank you so much! I learned a lot from this video. but I messed up on was trying to load it into the machine because i had no idea I needed to adjust the rollers but I've figured it out now haha
This is my favorite Print and Cut video!!! You show how to work with a few different types of png files. Thank you, Thank you so much for this tutorial! I'm going to see if you have any more Silhouette tutorials :)
Thank you and thank you for watching. Sorry for the late reply. Hopefully you've found my other videos and they've been helpful as well. I do have a couple more videos in the works that I'm hoping to upload in the near future.
Hello, Thank you for this clear and concise video. I have the silhouette cameo 4 with the business edition and the cricut maker which had first. I have preferred working with the cricut design studio vs silhouette business studio. My cricut maker is down as I am having to replace those darn rollers so I am forced how to learn how to use Silhouette business studio on a regular basis. I look for tutorials that are clear, concise and not too long. This video is definitely one that I can learn from. I can pause it and work along with you. You definitely have a new subscriber. Love it.
So far the best! I have been looking for a video that had everything from beginning to end.....unlike the others that make you watch 20 videos just to get confused! I'm glad I found this!!
super useful video! thanks for making it! thanks for showing how to use the silhouette software. I'm brand new to the silhouette cameo 5 (just got it yesterday) so glad to see a silhouette tutorial! I'm a heavy Adobe user so I'll probably be using Photoshop to prep the image but nice to see how to do it in Silhouette. subbed!
Thanks, and thanks for watching! I'm glad the video was helpful. Let me know if there's anything in particular you might want me to make a video on with regards to using silhouette studio or the cameo. Cheers!
Would be nice to know for which of the cameo series you are giving a tutorial. For instance the inset / registration marks are different for the old devices.
Dude, this video is awesome ! And your stickers cut so well, do you also happen to have a video on how to calibrate your cut ? Mine is a tiny bit offset and I want them as perfect as yours ! 😁🥳
Hi, and thanks for watching! Unfortunately, I haven't made a video on calibrating the Cameo yet. Honestly, when I do calibrate my Cameo 3, I just follow the calibration instructions in Studio. It's a bit of work, but not that hard. Not as glamorous as making stickers, but it's definitely worth it to ensure your machine is cutting where it's supposed to. All that being said, maybe I'll have to do a how to calibrate video!! :-)
@@ColorChangeCustoms Ohhh thank you for the input, I'll try it on my own then and do my best ! But I'll definitely watch your video if you do it because I personnally get confused about the instructions and seeing someone do it at the same time as me would be incredibly helpful 😁 but don't feel pressured to do it just for me ahah I don't know if other people struggle with that process also 🤷♀️
I just purchased some glossy printable sticker paper, my plan is to do some micro stickers for RC car’s I have the cameo 4 hopefully it has the option to do this with the registration mark’s etc if not I’ll at least be able to print stickers and cut them by hand
Thanks for watching! Your project should be totally doable with your cameo 4. My cameo 3 is older, but it can cut some pretty small areas, just based on making vinyl decals with a lot of detail in them. I'm pretty sure the cameo 4 would have no problem.
Thanks for watching! Most of the functions with Studio are in Basic Edition. I did upgrade to Designer Edition which adds a few extras above basic. Getting Studio and the various tiers are a one time purchase, as the program (or upgrades) is downloaded and installed on your computer--no subscription. The Silhouette website outlines what features are added as the tiers increase. I would say though, if you are thinking of upgrading to a higher edition, look around for sales or coupon codes to save some $. They're usually readily available, or you could wait until sale events like Black Friday or any holiday really for some sort of sale.
Hi there, thanks for watching! But...you would have to do a couple of tests to see what works for your machine and media you are cutting. The settings I used are just a starting point that worked for my setup. Happy crafting!
This was a great video! Thank you for being so thorough. I would like to use my cameo for making stickers since cricut doesn't give us a larger print and cut area. I have a laser printer and would like to know what clear laminate would you recommend to make these extra waterproof and last longer? Thanks!
Thanks and thank you for watching! As far as laminates go, I've used this Oracal one in another video where I laminated stickers (ua-cam.com/video/LfCXyyv65Ec/v-deo.html) Here's the affiliate link for that laminate on Amazon: amzn.to/3utX4n3 Happy sticker making!
Thanks for watching! For your question, I'm not sure as I have never tried that. I would probably test it out to see if the blade can cut the TPU smoothly and to determine your force and depth settings.
Your video was great, super detailed thanks!! Is there a cheaper color printer you recommend though? That printer your using is a little bit out of my budget 😬
Thank you for the kind words, and thanks for watching! I haven't looked at printers in a while since buying the one I have, but on various craft forums, the Canon IP8720 comes up (amzn.to/3mz30Y1) as a decent, overall printer. Also, Epson printers seem to come up a lot as well among the various forums I've scrolled through.
Hello, I need some help if you can please. What format did you bring the graphics for this video in? I have studio Basic and am trying to print and cut my own Honey Labels. I designed them in Inkscape and exported them to a nice high quality PNG. But when I bring them in to Silhouette Studio, they get pixelated. Also when I print from Silhouette Studio they are horribly pixelated and you can't even read the text. Is there a setting that I'm missing somewhere? Would you have any suggestions for me to try? Thank you!
The pictures I used were .jpg, maybe one was a .png if I recall. However, regardless of format, the key is to use images with high resolutions to start with. I'm not sure why your silhouette is making them pixelated specifically, but if you are creating pictures in a program to bring into silhouette, save them at a high resolution--like 1000 (or more) x 1000 (or more) pixels. Same if you are bringing in images found on the web. I go for images that are minimum "Standard HD" resolution, meaning the image is at minimum 768 x 480 (or vice versa) pixels and higher.
Best tutorial ever!! thank you so much for uploading this video and taking time to explain it thoroughly!! I do have a question, if I don't want the sticker to be cut all thoroug The paper, What settings do I need to use Like you did it on the 1st time, where all this stickers stayed on there sticker paper??
Thanks and thanks for watching! As far as settings to do a "kiss cut", which is cutting the vinyl but not the paper, I used: Depth: 1 Force: 7 Speed: 5 However, I came to those settings after basically sacrificing a sheet doing a bunch of cuts to see which settings would do what I wanted. Every machine will be slightly different due to a lot of factors -- blade type, age of machine, using a mat or not, brand of sticker paper or vinyl used, etc. So for your machine, I would recommend doing a bunch of tests at various depths/force/speeds to see what would work best, then save them as a custom pre-set.
Hi. I love your video & how in depth you are w/your process! So, I have a Portrait 3 & I’m having an issues where my text stickers, which are die cut, aren’t being cut as one whole sticker but as single words. Is there something that I should be doing differently??
Hi sorry for the late response. Have you tried using the weld function on the letters? Some fonts have a separation or slight overlap built in that may be causing the issue.
For a kiss cut, I used blade depth: 1, Force 7, and Speed 5 with autoblade. *** However, use that only as a starting point.*** Bottomline, you'll have to experiment with what works for your machine. You may have to sacrifice part of a sheet to see what works for you as there are other variables to consider, like if you are using a mat, the brand of sticker paper, is the paper matte or gloss, vinyl or actual paper, etc. The settings I found to work on my Cameo may not work for yours depending on calibration, newness of blade, Cameo model (2 vs 3 vs 4), etc.
The video is great and concise. However, is there a certain grade of vinyl for this method of sticker that CAN be used for car decals/ drift slaps that face the elements? This method is far better than layering.
Thanks, and thanks for watching! For your question, yes. There is printable automotive grade vinyl wrap and overlaminate you can make stickers/decals from. The challenge is that printable automotive vinyl and laminate are not typically accessible to everyday users. The wrap shop I work at has huge printers, laminators, and cutters that cost more than peoples houses!! My recommendation is to see if there is a local vinyl wrap or sign shop (or maybe an online one) that you can provide your graphic to, which they can then make the sticker for you (but this can be a pricey option).
@@ColorChangeCustoms I see, I figured the vinyl quality you’d get access to on sites like redbubble would or could be afforded and bought for these printers.
good job bud . But I still dont get something . now your sticker sheet has 2 layers right ? the top one is sticky stickers . what is the bottom layer ? is it the material of these papers that let you have 2 layers in one sheet ?
Hi and thanks for watching. The stickers are just 1 layer--the actual sticker layer that has the adhesive on it on one side. The only other layer would be the backing paper it is on that you peel the sticker off of.
Hi, thanks for watching. I don't have a Cameo 4 so I'm not familiar with the issues. My best advice would be to research across multiple and various forums to see if anyone has figured out what the issues are, ignoring the extreme left and right comments that offer no substance, look for inputs that have meaningful information, and then make a decision. In my experience, most "issues" with any kind of machine, particularly electronic types, can usually be traced back to user error, though I don't discount machines do have issues on their own. That's my experience though. Sorry that's not much help, but it's all I can offer.
If I want to apply a sticker to my car. Then how will I go about making that sticker. So that the Heat or rain will not damage it. And also does this mean that I will have to use a specific Material?
For your car, you'll need an ink that is UV resistant so it doesn't fade out in the sun (regular inkjet does, in my experience). To make it weatherproof, you'd have to laminate it as well.
You may have to do both and experiment to see what would work. Here’s an older video I made where I laminated stickers and then cut, which might help. How To Print and Cut with Silhouette Cameo | Make Full Color Waterproof Stickers at Home ua-cam.com/video/LfCXyyv65Ec/v-deo.html
any idea why theres glue residue particles on my stickers when it finishes cutting? i dont know if its the material. have you come across this issue , I use the exact same gloss paper and same cutting mat too!
Hey there! I've not had that issue on my end, but something that it might be...as the blade is cutting, some of the adhesive is sticking to the blade. As the blade moves along, it may be leaving some of the glue that stuck to it on various parts of the sticker paper. Maybe try a new blade or sharpening and cleaning your existing blade (google "how to sharpen silhouette cameo blade")
Without seeing your specific issues in person, the first thing that comes to mind might be ensuring your media size is correct for the size of the media you are using. If you're using an 8"x11" sheet but your media size is still on the default 12" x 12", it will try to print incorrectly. The other thing I can think of is maybe ensure your Silhouette is calibrated. Silhouette Studio has a calibration function and it has instructions on performing the calibration
I'm using an injet printer, a Canon Pixma Pro. You can also use a laserjet printer if that's what you have. But really, any decent home printer will work. The important part is to get the type of sticker paper suited for your printer, inkjet or laserjet. Here's an affiliate link for sticker paper for printing with an inkjet: amzn.to/4cNU7j1 And here's an affiliate link for sticker paper for printing with a laserjet: amzn.to/49rncOf Hope this helps!
Have you tried recalibrating your Silhouette? Also I’ve seen posts on different forums that say to ensure there is a lot of light for your cameo while it is cutting. Some people have even put LED light strips on their cameos to help.
Hi. Do you know why my stickers are coming with dull color 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢? When I print direct from my mac it comes good...just from the Cameo machine it is coming dull(pdf and print). I tried everything and I couldn't find this information in any website
My apologies for the very late reply. For my printer settings, I used photo paper glossy and high quality settings. Your printer settings my differ though, so something roughly equivalent. Of course, if you're using a matte paper, I would use the matte photo paper option, but keep high quality (or equivalent) print settings.
Just Canon OEM ink, if I recall. I have used generic ink since because of how expensive the OEM ink can be. Here's a link to those inks I've used: amzn.to/3q4UHp4
Well this was two years ago so I don't know if you're going to see this but I just came across it and I love the video it was awesome but... You kind of lost me with the blue offset line that you made. I don't understand The purpose of that... You went through all that trouble to fix the offset to be as close as possible to the image so you would not have that extra white in a previous step, so why now would you want to make a second line so that you have to change the color to make it have more white? Why wouldn't you have just done that in that previous step and not have to make a second line? I rewound and watched again to see what I was missing and I just can't understand why you would need to do that.
Hi, and thanks for watching. If I'm understanding your question correctly, basically the offset is to add a "border" of sorts around the now detached image. That way there's a little bit of white around the sticker when you peel it. However, having that border is totally up to the user -- you don't have to do that if you don't want any white around the image. Once you have your image traced and detached, you can just send it to cut the actual edges of the image. It's really however you want the sticker to come out, with a border, or not.
@@ColorChangeCustoms I know but you had already done that. Then later you added this blue one and then you had two separate things, the red one in the blue one. That extra one that you made I didn't get.
When you trace the design a red cut line appears then when you add your offset another red line appears he changed the color to blue so the machine will cut the outline instead of the image. Instead of changing the color you can also click on the image and turn off the cut line. I hope that makes since.
I so wish this worked. It's so bad.(Device not your method, no critique there) Cant read registration mark! Can't use gloss paper. Can't use glitter paper (print and cut)
Sorry to hear that. I use gloss paper all the time and haven't had issue (I've not used glitter paper though). I have seen on some forums that when the Cameo can't read the registration block and marks, to ensure the area your Cameo is in is well lit. Not sure if that would work in your case.
Amazing tutorial! It was the registration part that most tutorials skip over, BUT that's the most important part! Thought I was going to have to get another machine that would print AND cut.

@@ColorChangeCustoms Thank you so much for helping me with this and most of all for getting back to me 😄
@@ChiquisJ70 sure thing! Good luck and thanks again for watching!
Can we do that print and cut using cameo 3?
Yes, I did this project with the Cameo 3 and Silhouette Design Studio. For my printer, I just used a Canon Printer since the Cameo is not a printer.
@@ColorChangeCustoms you're fine! I just appreciate you replying. And no, I haven't! I'll look up how to use it & see how that helps. Thank you!
Thank you sir
Thanks for watching!
I can’t go back and find the settings for your first demonstration. I don’t want my blade to cut all the way through. What are those cut settings ??
For a kiss cut, I used blade depth: 1, Force 7, and Speed 5 with autoblade. *** However, use that only as a starting point.***
Bottomline, you'll have to experiment with what works for your machine.
Hi I’m planning on buying the Cameo 4 I’m just scared of the print and cut issues. Can you advise me on this? thanks in advance
Okay so the cameo printed the stickers and cutted them or did you use another printer for printing?
You would use a separate printer to print the stickers, then the cameo cuts them
I love you!
Thanks
You're welcome, and thanks for watching!

To make it weatherproof, you'd have to laminate it as well.
what if I put a laminate on top
do I add blade depth or add force
You may have to do both and experiment to see what would work. Here’s an older video I made where I laminated stickers and then cut, which might help.

@@ColorChangeCustoms I had the same question and after watching this additional video it helped.
hey hey hey its this same ploter printing and cutting? or i can print on other printer and cut it on Silhouette Cameo 4 Pro
Print separately using your printer then cut with the Cameo.
ok ty really cool video @@ColorChangeCustoms
@@Techno_Boy001 thanks!
any idea why theres glue residue particles on my stickers when it finishes cutting? i dont know if its the material. have you come across this issue , I use the exact same gloss paper and same cutting mat too!
@@ColorChangeCustoms thank you I'll try that out!
hi when I upload my design it is all outlined in red. What step am i missing?
My registration mark on the bottom right will only print 1 line. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Without seeing your specific issues in person, the first thing that comes to mind might be ensuring your media size is correct for the size of the media you are using. If you're using an 8"x11" sheet but your media size is still on the default 12" x 12", it will try to print incorrectly. The other thing I can think of is maybe ensure your Silhouette is calibrated. Silhouette Studio has a calibration function and it has instructions on performing the calibration
What kind of printer do you need to actually print the stickers?
I'm using an injet printer, a Canon Pixma Pro. You can also use a laserjet printer if that's what you have. But really, any decent home printer will work. The important part is to get the type of sticker paper suited for your printer, inkjet or laserjet.

I’m having the hardest time with registration marks error. Any tips?
Have you tried recalibrating your Silhouette? Also I’ve seen posts on different forums that say to ensure there is a lot of light for your cameo while it is cutting. Some people have even put LED light strips on their cameos to help.
Hi. Do you know why my stickers are coming with dull color 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢? When I print direct from my mac it comes good...just from the Cameo machine it is coming dull(pdf and print). I tried everything and I couldn't find this information in any website
My guess is it's probably your printer since the Cameo isn't a printer, just a cutting machine.
@@ColorChangeCustoms Sorry I mean Silhouette Cameo SOFTWARE no machine,When I press "Print " from the Silhouette Cameo software ...😁
i want to know setting print preference
My apologies for the very late reply. For my printer settings, I used photo paper glossy and high quality settings. Your printer settings my differ though, so something roughly equivalent. Of course, if you're using a matte paper, I would use the matte photo paper option, but keep high quality (or equivalent) print settings.
how do i remove my designs from a black back ground? struggling send help 🤣
Can I use any printer?
Generally speaking, yes. Just use the appropriate type of sticker paper/vinyl for your printer (i.e. inkjet or laserjet)
What ink you use
Just Canon OEM ink, if I recall. I have used generic ink since because of how expensive the OEM ink can be. Here's a link to those inks I've used: amzn.to/3q4UHp4
What type of paper do I need
I like to use glossy sticker paper. This is what I used in this video: amzn.to/3bMQeNd
Where is the color coming from?
The stickers are printed using a printer before cutting them with the Cameo.
No lamination?
You can laminate if you want afterwards. These stickers were intended for indoor, non-wet use, like putting on a laptop lid, so no lam needed.
Please help me, I need your help.😢
I so wish this worked. It's so bad.(Device not your method, no critique there) Cant read registration mark! Can't use gloss paper. Can't use glitter paper (print and cut)
Sorry to hear that. I use gloss paper all the time and haven't had issue (I've not used glitter paper though). I have seen on some forums that when the Cameo can't read the registration block and marks, to ensure the area your Cameo is in is well lit. Not sure if that would work in your case.
i dont have a force setting on my cameo 1 software... is that the same as the thickness setting?
Unfortunately, I don't know as I'm not familiar with the Cameo 1 or the software it uses. Sorry...
