    I bought this kit also. It works. But I did notice after a while a little oil coming off the breather filter. Ended up just getting a 2nd can. Ultimately, at least on the 1.6 turbo KDM I think 2 cans is still the way to go. And by the way you really helped me understand this stuff when I first got the kit. Thanks again for that. 👍

      @@tonyb3350 Thanks for the compliment. Yea, if you have the money and drive the car pretty "enthusiastically" lol, dual cans are the way to go. Even with my driving I rarely see residue on the intake can so I typically say it depends on if you have the money. If not, worst case you just use a T fitting like I mentioned and keep the single can kit at the minimum. Glad you got a dual can set up though.

    Hello thanks for content one of the best videos I found for our engine. I like the setup. will be installing budget cans on my 1.6 gdi kia. 80k miles. I will be doing 2 port double cans seperate only on the pcv side with a modified down tube Inside the can to direct the flow from top to bottom of can and back up toward top outlet to increase oil capture. My idea is to add an extra tube from the Inlet port leading to the bottom of the can with some holes drilled halfway towards to the bottom with added baffle In form of steel wool to attract the oil. Because the port's are close to the top of the can the flow easily travels from inlet to outlet without reaching all areas inside toward the bottom even with the baffle up top i would like to increase contact of surface area every possible area in the can for maximum capture. Possibly third can for the breather side only separate from pcv. Reason to separate and go with 2port cans because breather side if connected stock has a stronger vacuum when connected to the intake, without it the breather side vents with a low pressure just from feeling with your finger. The tube itself stays very clean from oil, but if disconnected to vent with filter to atmosphere is missing the added vacuum pull. Ive had this disconnected for a while from the cold air intake with no gain / feel in performance, and noticeable dark dirt or slight sludge deposits from visible inspection through the oil cap. Thoughts on this idea setup?

    • @Chayness
      @Chayness  3 роки тому +1

      It sounds good and complex but i'd say probably stick to one can only for intake/breather. I honestly almost NEVER saw buildup there. Just my opinion though.

    • @Chayness

      They claim it's better for performance and of course, the easier option. Using the T line is a CLEANER option as some oil will accumulate near the breather eventually.

    Hi mate, can I use this catch can dual ports as 2 inlets and one on the side as an outlet? On my car I got 2 rocker covers witch has 2 separate breathers coming out witch I want them to connect with dual ports. And the single port I want to use it as an outlet to my turbo intake.

    • @Chayness
      @Chayness  4 роки тому

      Great question. Sadly, you can not as the filter process starts at the inlet side only. Also, the cans in this video only have 1 inlet and 1 outlet. ADD W1 now makes a can just like what you want to do but you'd probably have to use a T Valve to connect your two outlets. With their V3.3 Catch Can kit, the can has still a single inlet (hence why you'd need a T Valve) but now dual outlets so you can choose to have both outlets back to the car, on back to the car and one to atmosphere, or use the single can kit from this video and do something similar. Hope that helps!

    The catch can looks nice for sure. I’m running separate Add W1 catch cans for the valve cover and PCV. The breather actually collects a bit of oil so my guess is it won’t be long before the breather filter is saturated with oil.

    • @Chayness
      @Chayness  4 роки тому

      It will happen eventually. It's part of venting to atmosphere. If it gets bad, i'd suggest using a T vacuum line to keep it within the system. Ultimately, if it's very excessive.... dual kit is the way but from someone who has a dual kit, I don't really ever see a lot of oil accumulate on the intake side. Cost wise, it's a bit hard to justify unless you really drive the car hard or track it.

  •  2 роки тому +1

    I've got a conundrum for ya;
    Scenario 1 - with a single V3.1 on a V engine, the passenger side has the PCV plumbed post throttle. The driver side breather is plumbed before the throttle.
    If I used 'Y' splitters, could I run both banks (breather and PCV) in the inlet then split the outlet (one before the throttle and one after it)? Would this configuration have constant vacuum under ideal and on throttle? (I know I would need check valves somewhere but here exactly?)
    Or
    Scenario 2 - should I just get another V3.1 for the breather side?

    • @Chayness
      @Chayness  2 роки тому

      Wow that is quite a question. I would probably split them do to their locations (post and pre) HOWEVER, unless you are heavily modified or tracking the car, i'd say stick to a single can set up focused on the PCV side. Lastly, as it seems you may be informed, the V3.3 kit might be a better solution but your call.

      I've looked into it and that's part of why the kit comes with check valves and the top valve cover vents to atmosphere. It's an ongoing argument in the car world. I'm not saying it's not an issue.... but many times its negligible. And unless you're modifying the car to put down real numbers.... it most likely won't hurt the car. Even without a catch can, the hoses route the same. All the can is, is an extra place along the already existing path.
