    Hey all! Just a reminder that this was recorded in early access. You may see small balance and ability changes on various characters, but rest assured the boss mechanics and general strategy remain the same. Enjoy DD2!

    One important thing is that even skills that do not do any damage can hit the root and make the vines receed: bellow, magnesium rain, ecc.. are all viable options for this fight

    I am liking the game, but I can't shake the feeling that this entry is more punishing for the sake of just being punishing, whereas DD1 you had better control of the ebb and flow of the difficulty.

    I hate this boss so much. Easily the roughest time I've had with a boss in this game period. He's substantially harder than even the brain boss in the mountain is. My biggest issue with this boss isn't just how unbelievably irritating his creeping root ability is, it's also the fact that you have to have a pretty specific party composition to beat him, which is something I always hate with boss fights. That's why the brain boss in the mountain isn't nearly as bullshit in my opinion; he's a rough boss for sure, but basically any party composition can beat him as long as you play them well.

    I have beaten this boss a good chunk of times with different teams, only losing to him once because overconfidence yadda yadda.
    The key is really to have at least 2 heroes capable of hitting the 4th rank. The time I lost was 'cause I only had Occ able to hit the root.
    Party wide items can also help in a pinch, or as a way to not lose dps to the root, like the caltrops.

      Thanks so much! A full year of pent-up creative energy. It's amazing to feel a healthy voice these days and just letting things flow. :)

    The fight is incredibly rng. I don't see how you can consistently win against it without surviving some deathblow hits

      Weird, I find this boos fight to be the easiest and most easily won

    I just poisoned the shit out of him, using a grave robber, a flagellant and a plague doctor. By the moment he chained all of the group, he was already dead without even knowing it

    This one feels like one of the most baselessly difficult bosses. I understand forcing you to attack rank 4 - it promotes versatile composition.... But then PUNISHING you for hitting rank 4?
    Sounds like you need to build a team JUST for this boss - not for the full game itself.

    I literally hit the tap root every single turn for 10 turns in a row and my whole party still was tangled. I don't get it. hitting the tap root did absolutely nothing. Some rounds I even hit the tap root twice with 2 characters and still nothing happened. If I just attacked the boss I would have killed it. It ended up with 0 hps on deaths door. I have beaten this boss months ago using this guide but this time it didn't work. I had to have been bugged. The vines never receded.

    • @Migolcow
      @Migolcow Рік тому

      You have to have 2 hits per round to keep it off you. Plague doctor is by far the best here but there are other options

  • @H1Smurf

    my strangled healer wouldn't get free although i hit the tap root multiple times. he died. run failed. what did i wrong?

    • @E5games
      @E5games  2 роки тому

      The only thing I can imagine is that the tap root recoiled other vines instead of the healer. The recoil is a random vine, so long as it has dropped at least once.
      Often it recoils the wrong one for me and I jusy have to keep cycling it

      This game is all about getting fucked because you don't know enemies' abilities or just by random

  • @TESkyrimizer

    bringing the wrong skills pretty much is almost a death sentence it seems... kind of unfair tbh. you should be able to change up your skills before the fight (after the first 2 rounds of enemies)

    • @E5games
      @E5games  Рік тому +2

      This is definitely one of the toughest aspects of Lair bosses, for sure. In earliest builds of DD2, you could actually use key binds to swap a few things between combats but it wasn't intentional.
      Really crushing these bosses takes a decent knowledge of team setup, items, and upgrades.

  • @TheJakeEX

    Just killed the General "brute force like" the first 4 times, it's kinda challenging like that, receeding the vines makes this fight way to easy (with a good team, for a bad setup brute force seems impossible)
