The next turn, death eats the blight. Was sure I could see him smiling and flipping me the bird as he faded off. Worst day I've had so far in DD2 (losing full memory Dismas with locked Jinx to a nasty exemplar fight was a close second though).

Just recently managed to get the Grand Slam with the Red Hook team comp. One thing you didn't mention is that you can now use candles to re-roll heroes without memories at the start. It might get expensive but also super lucky.
My first ever grand slam was really funny. I had Leper in rank 1 for tanking, debuffs, and high single target damage, Yellowhand HWM in rank 2 for good bleed and reach, and Jester rank 3 for stress healing, encore, and combo. I was trying to think of who to put in rank 4 to be my healer, and I was going to do Plague Doctor because you can never go wrong with her. Then I realized that the Crusader at the crossroads had Eagle Eyed. Rank 4 main healer Reynauld would spam Holy Lance and Zealous for high damage crits that applied burn, Tenacity would keep people alive if the enemy was ever getting ready for a big hit, and he was so good at healing that throughout the entire run, the only time I ever had a scary Death's Door check was a single time against the Confession 3 boss. Other than that, this team had such high damage, a mix of Burn, Bleed, and Blight, self-sustain with Leper, and everything else that a team can want.

@@Dogmatick1 This was before Jester’s rework, so this was done on old Virtuoso. Rank 3 and 4 actually fell really quickly. I just had Jester use Encore on Reynauds and used Zealous Accusation twice. Next node was standard resistance fight. Won that one, but hadn't had a lot of time to heal, so about half hp across the board by the end. Or at least, I thought it was the end. Instead, just as I was about to breathe the sigh of relief, the screen turns gray. Literally cursed out loud at my computer. DOT'd him down as fast as i could. Even managed to slap some big heals on Flag mid way through with more more followed by IS+ from PD. By the last round though, Flag was on DD and bleeding. Death had no armor, also on DD, and had blight. "We're gonna make it," i thought. All I needed was literally anyone else to go before death on the next round other than Flag. Wasn't running leper, but if I had been, leper could have literally yelled at death and killed him with intimidate. Literally any damage would have done the trick. Instead, Flag, glutton for punishment that he is, decides to high speed roll so that he gets his turn literally the turn before the enemy. Deep breathe, white kuckles, CMON FLAG! I KNOW YOUVE STILL GOT SOME DBR DOWN THERE SOMEWHERE! Nope. Flag bleeds out. I scream aloud in agony. Death takes a blight tick and bites the dust. Back here for inspiration as I still haven't even reached the second Confession boss. Three of my runs in particular that stand out to me, one of which is on me but the others were just plain bad luck. One ended earlyish thanks to the f***ing Collector saying hello, another ended with me finding out that yes, the Shambler works exactly as it did in DD2 and the one that ended last night was running into the Warlord just before the Harvest Child where I really needed to beat the Lair boss to get a trophy as with the other regions, I had inexplicably bad luck with a lack of good combat items and had to decline the bosses (just wasn't getting bandages and the like at the inns). I technically beat the Warlord but ended up with only Dismas and Junia remaining. Needless to say, I was picked off afterwards. Quite frustrating since I had the Bounty Hunter with me, Junia was a godly tank at over 90HP and Dismas was an unerring sharpshooter with an extra 50% damage from a particular trinket (and also GR) and dealing over 20 damage made me feel powerful. Unfortunately, both my main damage dealers ended up with Misses the Mark which didn't help. Ho-hum. EDIT: And now a run I've had to abandon because the expedition is stuck on a black screen just as it's supposed to enter a battle to fix the wheels. Not even an error message this time. 😑
Amazing video, love this content!! Any thoughts on a grand slam team with Duelist and Crusader? Knock out 4 achievements at once. But I’ve struggled finding a good mix and end up lacking in one of the fundamentals.
It's a bit tough to run those 2 together I found. Best bet would be to run PD in 4, warlock / sharpshot / deadeye in 3, and have rey be the stress healer.
@@ShuffleFM thanks for the input! it is a little challenging running both. i've resigned to just trying to beat all 5 with the duo and switch out the other two ranks based on confession. 3 of 5 done so far.
@caleb1 Shuff definently knows more than me but I did them all first try with banneret crusader and alchemist PD as the backline. I forget who I paired with the duelist but it was likely HWM
@bryceschneider4872 awesome! Thanks for the suggestion! That definitely sounds reasonable, I'll have to try that. I've gravitated towards Banneret anyway.
@@caleb1 It is extremely impressive how well he can shred through backlines with Alch, the duelist was pretty much just dancing back and forth with fleche and helping tear up bruisers. Your boss of choice is the dream general as the dual backline cleave is an instant win
I am trying to do grand slam and achievments that require equipping 5 memories on crussader and duelist i am getting annoyed because it greatly limits my ability to make some creative team comps because 1/2 of my team is already taken by those 2 but i 've cooked something like this lately: Hellion with Ravager path and usual skills Iron Swan, Toe to Toe, Adrenaline Rush, Howling End and Raucous Revelry 2nd slot i run Crussader with Banneret and for skills i use are Inspiring Cry, Reap, Battle Heal, Holy Lance and Tenacity 3rd slot is Antagoniste Duelist with Touche, Preparation, Fleche, Meditation and Coup the Grace and finally in the 4th slot i have Grave Robber Deadeye with Thrown Dagger, Poison Darts, Absinthe, Repartee and Shadow Fade. Is it the best team i could fit Crussader and Duellist? Probably not but its so fun. Hellion and Crussader giving combo tokens to enemies with lance and swan graverobber critting for a lot it feels fun to play this team. 2 main problems for this team are it is VERY maestry hungry and u have to make crussader as slow as possible duellist as fast and hellion should be in between them so crussader and duelist can dance betwen position 2 and 3 almost every round if u can achieve it man it feels so good!
I did my grand slam with "The Collection". Unfortunately I wasn't given the achievement, so I'm going through all the chapters again with the same team...
How to not lose: dont fight the baby on first region I finally did a bb grandslam all lairs with the cookie cutter team. Alchemist plague doctor, deadeye graverobber, Intrepide duelist and poet leper with the baby shambler. Min max or death
@@MrTsukihami on pd: blinding, incision(on the first regions, replace with ind. science later), cause of death, magnesium rain, d. blast(replace with cause of death for bosses) on on gr: poison dart, thrown dagger, absinthe/dead of night, pirouette, flashing daggers on jester: razor's wit, fade, battle ballad, inspiring tune, finale on leper: chop, solemnity, intimidate, ruin, break

Wow you really nailed it brother, (TO ME) the best team in the game rn is Alchemist, Warlock, Vanguard and Wanderer Flag. Nice job tho! (BUT I THINK) Yall need flag's healings and taunt tank and frontline hero with backline cleave and dots for 100% consistency. The team has just about everything you (the player) need to win. Spam backline cleaves, taunts, big damage skills, and make use of tools such as pulls on the regions its good, as well as ounce of prevention, and hold the line to fix positioning disruption. Death is not a problem with this team, just be aware you can find her at any region enemy fight that ins't a lair, so its easy to be ready. I did bastard's beacon grandslam with this team consistently. Just get some practice (with the team) and you will conquer the game. Nice video shuff, surprised me how knowledgeable you are tbh~ Not to trash on you but i think the team you made is a bit too squishy for bastard's beacon. To have a similarity with it i would change maa for ravager and hwm for banneret. Although even the team i said has its weakness, as the worst it has is positioning disruption, although maa has hold the line to solve it, beware the shambler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shambino best pet tho ♥
I really don't appreciate your comments. Saying things like I need practice and explaining fundamentals to me when I have a proven track record of doing things much tougher than beacon is pretty insulting. You take Vestal and nerfed GR through old stygian and FF on a grand slam then come talk to me about what's good and what isn't. Beacon is not the hardest thing the game has seen, not even close.
@@ShuffleFM Noo i didn't say you require practice nor explaining stuff for you, i was saying that for those who want to try the team! please don't take what i said as if i'm trashing you or something ;( Thanks for expressing how you felt tho, i would never have seen it. Sorry mate, your video was awesome and i think you are the best~! and i said that from how much i relied on your knowledge in dd1 ^^ yea my comment really was like i was trying to teach you now that i try and read that way, i'm not a native english speaker and that was totally not what i meant! the only thing that i meant for you is the part that the team sounded kinda squishy for bastard's beacon.
I keep on getting screwed by the death boss and occultist getting targeted. Got to act 5 and act 4 a few times but I always get ended by something out of my hands.
the problem with this 'roguelite' is that i feel like im going for a grandslam everytime i play because i am just using the same characters over and over. it gets old fast. the most excitement i get is when i lose a hero, sometimes 2, and just slog my way to the next inn to improvise a new team
how to win every run: just run usual suspects lmao solves every problem in the game if you cant smite or point blank the problem away then disorientating blast it until you CAN point blank it away
Coming back since ea and Im already put off by how much unnecessary complexity and reliance on planning there is, I have to spend 1hr checking every skill and thinking of a good composition before I even start playing, on top of learning new heroes... And if you don't know what the bosses are doing - you are set up to lose pretty much. Ive had 200+ hrs in ea 90% altar unlocked and still all the preparation is a headache choice paralysis and not fun, but without that the first lair boss or exemplar will screw you, no to mention the final act bosses needing specific skills/items/positions to beat. Tho overall it seems the game is a bit easier now (at least so far) I cant imagine how new players - even those with DD1 experience - are dealing with all this. (For contrast roguelites like StS give you super basic stuff and one-two upgrades at a time so you learn on the go and spend all the time in combat, not scratching your head on pre-planning with 50 variables)
@@SovietSnake89 one thing is strategy another thing when the initial preparation is THE most crucial thing and you autofail if you dont even know what to expect (like most new players couldn't get past exemplar or people lose to Lib when hes trivial with correct comp and items) and it takes too much time it sucks the fun out of the actual gameplay - the complexity in DD2 is the wrong place, not in combat but all in pre-planing
To me, the reason the planning in dd2 is so frontloaded is because the runs are much longer than the first game. For dd1 the checklist is shorter because each run is 15 minutes. It gets faster with experience like anything else. Neither game is new player friendly. Part of the reason why people watch me 😅
Valid points. This was my first impression of DD2 a few months ago (with over 1000 hours in DD1). I was floored how quickly I was absolutely pummeled! I had to change my approach and humble myself to realize this is NO sequel …but a new game. A new puzzle to solve. After that, it became immensely fun even in defeat.
How to win every run? YOU CAN'T. This game is so bad in its RNG crap, that it is not even funny anymore. I can't even remember how many times those stupid "heroes" decided it is a good idea to backstab each other instead of fighting the boss, or how many times the skills I wanted to use became unusable, because of the "relationships". Seriously, this game is a code straight out of Hell and should go there and STAY there.
DD2 is perhaps one of if not the most consistently beatable strategy Roguelike on the normal flame. Proper relationship management is part of the game, and bad relationships don't prevent skill use nor cause team members to skip actions (any backstabs, and these are incredibly rare act outs from specifically the hateful relationship, in the current version, are 'free' additional actions). If you're noticing large amounts of negative act outs and relationships, you're probably doing a poor job at maintaining positive or at least neutral team relationships.
@@ShuffleFM oh, really? Then how you explain my inability to switch the skill OFF, when it becomes afflicted with negative relationship? More than that, most of the time it isn't even a skill I've used on those characters, but random crap, that literally ruins my whole rotation!
I know Shuffle that u may be a little tired of DD2 lately and that's why I even more appreciate your materials about this game 🥰😁 Thank you
I just needed a break and the game hasn't had much to talk about. I'll get back to it soon though :)
Your boss of choice is the dream general as the dual backline cleave is an instant win
thank you shuff, for teaching me how to slam
Is it better to run all regular wanderer paths, is the difficulty scaled down....I'm finding that running paths might be a bad idea as a newbie
Nah the difficulty doesn't change for that. Paths usually need some unlocks to shine.
I did my grand slam with "The Collection". Unfortunately I wasn't given the achievement, so I'm going through all the chapters again with the same team...
How to not lose: dont fight the baby on first region
I finally did a bb grandslam all lairs with the cookie cutter team. Alchemist plague doctor, deadeye graverobber, Intrepide duelist and poet leper with the baby shambler. Min max or death
how to deal with act 2 boss with this comp? just pistol shot on hwm?
My fav team is warlock occ+alchemist pd+vanguard maa+scourge flag. It's extremely braindead and its what im trying to do the grand slam with
I find Surgeon pd + Deadeye gr + Virtuoso jester + Tempest leper to be very good, I easily grand slammed with that team
Surgeon seems pretty fun despite being a little straight forward
Any advice on skill pickup?
That comp seems immensely squish, I'd go wanderer leper personally so you can tank AND still chop.
@@MrTsukihami
on pd: blinding, incision(on the first regions, replace with ind. science later), cause of death, magnesium rain, d. blast(replace with cause of death for bosses)
on
on gr: poison dart, thrown dagger, absinthe/dead of night, pirouette, flashing daggers
on jester: razor's wit, fade, battle ballad, inspiring tune, finale
on leper: chop, solemnity, intimidate, ruin, break
@@blackomega34 they are quite solid actually, everyone but jester has some healing, tempest leper is still hard af, gr has dodge, jester and pd blind.
the only run ending moment I had was gr going from full hp to 0 and dying to the first bleed tick
Could you make a guide for act three or good comps for each act
Good video shuff, but you didn’t cover how to deal with getting crit twice at round start into failling the first bleed check immediately after
You uninstall 🤫
Do you normally not buy food? I usually feed at least half of my team as a priority.
I figured it was a given :P
No idea if you'll ever see this, but I really want to Grand Slam with the Usual Suspects. Do you think this is realistic?
With the buffs to vestal it's more manageable, so yes :)
Are ya planning on making a foetor and you guide?
Yes, it's on the list.
@@ShuffleFM yes!! Cant wait to see my favorite teethy boys
Nice video shuff, surprised me how knowledgeable you are tbh~
Not to trash on you but i think the team you made is a bit too squishy for bastard's beacon.
It's all good, sorry for being combative. Thank you for being kind in response :)
I keep on getting screwed by the death boss and occultist getting targeted. Got to act 5 and act 4 a few times but I always get ended by something out of my hands.
Maybe I need to do less resistance encounters because I always get collector and death especially right after the lair boss.
@@SynthLove Collector spawns on road fights not resistance encounters; resistance encounters are great because -loathing and +mastery.
the problem with this 'roguelite' is that i feel like im going for a grandslam everytime i play because i am just using the same characters over and over. it gets old fast.
the most excitement i get is when i lose a hero, sometimes 2, and just slog my way to the next inn to improvise a new team
You're not required to use the same team each time :P
how to win every run:
just run usual suspects lmao solves every problem in the game
if you cant smite or point blank the problem away then disorientating blast it until you CAN point blank it away
Watch @ 1.25x speed. Your welcome.😊
How long did you spend in the Hamlet, thinking comps and associated Trinkets? If you hate planning, tactical games may not be for you.
NICE!

This auto translates to "given god"
your mic has waaaay too much bass. makes it really tough to listen to you
How to win every run?
Relationships haven't prevented a skill use for about 1.5 years. Sounds like you just need to fix the team's affinity :P
I understand you like this game and base your channel of it, but the game is SHIT.
@@Fightersword maintaining WHAT? You CAN'T maintain those! Those are just random shit, that happens! And they literally PREVENT ME from using the skill set I've wanted, and FORCING me to play with skills this moronic game wants me to have! Me doing a poor job, SURE, bud! Wasting a ton of cash to try and raise their relationships with cards and whiskey every damn Inn they visit, just to end up with 4 of those idiots hating each other before the Mountain! I don't even know how you find any "argument" defending this piss poor game design! I'd prefer them to just die from heart attack, like in DD1, than to force me through this random bull crap!
@@knighttemplaroftentacult7123 You need to calm down and just buy cards/whiskey and get good tbh, this sounds like a personal problem.
DD1 better 😊😊
Please keep saying it. My videos become stronger with comments 🙏
