Helena is always calm and she doesn't care what people think of her, while Olivia is confused and goofy, and somehow they are perfect duo. Just imagine to go on a drink with the two of them. Priceless experience. 🤣
Olivia Colman's capacity to flip an audience from tears to laughter and back again, all in the space of a single sentence, means she is probably the greatest natural stage/screen presence I've ever witnessed.
Olivia Colman is just wonderfull, when the camera pans through the crowd of stars, they are all smiling and giggling like children, in the joy of the moment.
This is such a glorious example of the brilliance of Meryl, the way she pauses, catches her breathe, and takes her time so she can really give the words power. Bloody hell she's good... that and the gloriously charming Mr Firth 😄
Colin Firth made me cry when I saw his vulnerable side acting as King George VI, in the "King's Speech" and never would I hesitate to call him one of the world's best actors in the world, because he is. I may be prejudice, but I don't care he won me over with "Pride & Prejudice" which was my second film by Jane Austen I ever seen. He was great as Mr. Darcy but more important I saw glimmer of his excellent acting skills that is now been revealed through his many Oscars nominated films. I'm glad he won for what I felt was one of his best performances of that time, "The King Speech. Plus, I am a big fan of his!
I ❤️'d Helena Bonham Carter's speech! She was SO sweet and awkward -- just ❤️ her! Such an AMAZING actress! Olivia Colman was COMPLETELY endearing as well.
Ohh Love Olivia Colman -she comes across as such a genuinely lovely funny lady-If not slightly bumbling…which frankly…just adds to her colossal charm and overwhelming grace! One of the few acceptance ‘speeches’ that I laughed out loud at. Enjoyed every second of it. And Meryl’s Cinderella moment with her shoe was delightful too. Now we all know who her Prince Charming is. ☺️
What a wonderful way to end that video, I love Olivia Colman's humor. Her Academy speech is hilarious, too and it's always very refreshing to watch actresses' genuine joy to accept awards such as this. Also, I love her guestings on Graham Norton, she's really funny. 🤣 Unrelated but 7:46 Wow!
I used to watch Helena's speech on repeat back when I was a teenager but hadn't watched it since. I still love her with all my heart and rewatching this felt incredibly nostalgic but also made my heart very happy :')
As an older woman (and an actress) it is extremely amusing to see the befuddled vacant expressions on the younger female audience's faces when Streep and Bonham-Carter make searing witticisms or state profound truths. The distance between 30 and 60 or 70 is just unfathomable, kids. You have no idea. Life is a trip.
You mean Broadchurch? That's actually itv. If you haven't watched it yet, you definitely should. She's great in that one. Also starring David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker
Oooh Helena and Olivia are so sweet and similar in their funny genuine humbleness! No wonder they became such good friends! Them two on Graham norton show and other interviews where they were together show their sweetest relationship!
I get why Meryl acts like she didn't expect it. Yet, you fully deserve it Meryl. You work hard and give your performances your all. And in doing that, you RELATE TO SO MANY PEOPLE! Thank you for doing that. You're touching so many more souls than I think you probably think you know, but I don't think you actually know. I love you Ma'am. You're a saint in this world to me (not to inflate your ego, but like......the work you put into your performances.....matters in ways you don't even know!). I'm not even kidding. I watched Modern Family and I heard a line on that show where they said, "Meryl Streep could play Batman, and it would be the right choice" and I'm so not even kidding when I say, she would fully do it justice. Like she's just THAT good! Seriously. I'm not even kidding, she really is THAT good. Meryl is the essence of what an actor is and I am so grateful to exist in a parallel life to hers. Thank you Mery!!! KEEP GOING! YOU GOT TONS MORE GREAT PERFORMANCES IN YOU AND YES YOU"RE GOING TO CONTINUALLY BE HONORED BUT JUST LIVE IN THE MOMENT THAT YOU TRUST YOURSELF AND YOU KNOW HOW TO CONNECT WITH REAL PEOPLE. (as she said in devil wears Prada.....) "That's all" Love you Meryl!
Always look forward to award winners from British actors & actresses. Their speeches would always sound more sincere, witty, spontaneous, ended up so hilarious and with touch of elegant humor. Something the American actors and actresses don't really have because they tried too hard to sound cool. And I'm not British nor I am American. ♥️🥰
I just watched “the post”. I loved her quirks and little ticks playing Katherine Graham. She decided to print the pentagon papers “let’s go! Let’s go!” This little nervous hum she would do. You know Spielberg found these things and asked her to run with it.
Meryl Streep is gonna be a tough act to follow. I see some good up and coming actresses that are in their own right good. Though no one can come close to Meryl, who knows if there will ever be another great actress like Meryl, but with hard work, consistency and discipline she next one is out there.
I always felt a certain kind of way about HBC after everything with Thompson-Branagah marriage ending, but she really is quite endearing. I’m very pleased that I’ve seen this speech. I will now see her through a different lens.
Meryl Streep is the finest actress of our time who deserves everything she has won. She has been nominated so many other times and lost to such lesser talents.

No one can beat Olivia. She's so natural, genuinely adorable.

Olivia and Helena's speeches were so humorous and precious 🥰they deserve all the awards
THEY Do!!
Yes them two are so sweet and genuine!
So similar in their adorable humbleness!
No wonder they became such good girlfriends!
Meryl, Helena, and Olivia: three of my favorites! All stunningly great actors.
Quite honestly...
Meryl Streep already recognising Olivia Colman's talent and calling her "divinely gifted" means everything to me!
Olivia Colman is just wonderfull, when the camera pans through the crowd of stars, they are all smiling and giggling like children, in the joy of the moment.

He's such a gentleman. He's very authentic. In stage ie not I think he'd do the same ..

She was so good in all her roles 😉❤
Meryl Streep: "the divinely gifted Olivia Colman." 😎
High praise from the divinely gifted!😍
OliviaColeman only does ditsy & bewildered, whether it's required or not.
Seems fine as a person, but as an actor, forgedda bahdit.

Everything that happened while Meryl walked up to get her award is Bafta worthy in itself 😂😂😂
So nice to see Olivia Colman being so emotional and touched by the honour. Truly a gifted actress.
“It’s got my name on it but we can scratch in some other names!” Olivia Coleman is a national treasure I love her so much
The face of AWE and reverence for meryl on every actresses' face ALL WHILE meryl was as imperfect as you could hope for. This woman has CLOUT
Yep. Perfectly imperfect!!!!
Another overrated actress. Streep couldnt even nail an Italian accent in Bridges.
Yesss when Meryl speaks, you listen!

Have you watched her in Broardchurch and The Night Manager - both excellent viewing.
