    Ben is one of the ultimate competiters. He's one of the hardest to take down, He's stretched some plays to make a good run. He's played with a broken thumb, a broken foot, his jaw wired, he's broken a good pile of records. The idea of sitting one out is simply not in his vocabulary. IMHO he should make the hall of fame.

Only good at head hunting unsuspecting wide outs over the middle . Then he has the balls to criticize James Harrison a few years later when the league was making an example out of him, and 99 percent of james' hits were legal.

    The Steelers became the 1st AFC team to win 15 regular season games that year. Ben went undefeated from week 3 to the AFC Championship and would have won that game if not for NE knowing the hand signals and plays before the ball was even snapped. Ben and the Steelers had proven they were the far better team that year so NE resorted to cheating to make sure they won.

    • @mastick5106
      @mastick5106 5 років тому +15

      No. No, no, no, no, no. The Steelers lost because Ben lost it in the playoffs.
      Ben was averaging 8.9 yards per attempt with a 98.1 passer rating in the regular season, throwing 17 TDs against 11 INTs. Then he hit the playoffs and laid an egg against the Jets, with 6.0 yards per attempt, 1 TD versus 2 INTs and a 57.8 passer rating. If not for Doug Brien missing TWO field goal attempts at the end of the game we never would have made it to the AFC Championship.
      He played a little better against NE but was still way off his regular season performance. The Patriots didn't need to cheat to feast on his miscues.

    • @Sploshification
      @Sploshification 5 років тому +25

      They only lost the first game of the season when Tommy Maddox started, if i remember correctly. Ben went 15-0 as a starter in the regular season before losing to NE in the Divisional round or Conference championship. Can't remember which round of the playoffs.

    • @mastick5106
      @mastick5106 5 років тому +5

      Second game of the season, against Baltimore. They lost to NE in the Conference Championship. _Should_ have lost to the Jets in the divisional round, but the Jets' kicker blew attempts from 47 and 43 yards in the 4th quarter that would have put them on top, and Reed hit a 33-yarder in OT to give the Steelers the win.

    • @chrischurch4551

      Didn't pittsburgh miss a game winning FG in that one, too?

    • @mastick5106
      @mastick5106 5 років тому

      No, you must be thinking of a different game. Reed was 2-for-2 on field goals and 2-for-2 on extra points against the Jets. Against the Pats, we were never within a field goal after the first quarter.

    Pats stole hand signals from the Steelers sidelines in the playoffs later that season like Joey porter said, he said they both had the same team (no injuries), both teams ran the same game plans, and every time they called a play from the sidelines or audibled, the Pats would audible and knew almost 90% of the plays the Steelers were about to run. That’s why Ben couldn’t complete anything and turned the ball over. They knew where it was going every play. Had they not stole the signals the Steelers would have beat the Pats the same way they did in this game, and Ben would have won 16 straight games as a rookie and would have been the first rookie quarterback to start in the Super Bowl in the same year he got his liquor license. Just imagine that. A 21 year old rookie would have won 16 straight games, undefeated as a starter, and went on to start in the Super Bowl. Went on to win the Super Bowl the very next season.

It was actually the year they went to the superbowl and one so like 2005. It's crazy to think Ben never really got better then his rookie season. He is a first ballad HOF without question but it always seemed like he wasn't even the best player on any steelers team which sucked cuz I really liked him. I hated not seeing him win a single SB MVP but I'm sure he's just happy with those 2 Lombardi trophies. Idk why I'm dragging on I guess I'm just reminiscing but man his rookie season was the epitome of legendary. Just wish he could have topped it one year.

    The 2004 Steelers rejuvenated football in Pittsburgh once again. The Steelers were coming off a disappointing 2003 season where they finished 6-10, and no one knew what to expect from the team in 2004. There was questions at the QB position with Maddox, questions on the defense having a bounce back season, the offensive line, changes in coordinators, etc...
    Not a lot of people realize, Roethlisberger was to be the third QB on the depth chart that season. The three quarterbacks were Maddox, Batch, and Roethlisberger. Batch tore his ACL in camp and when Maddox got hurt in Baltimore, that opened the door for Roethlisberger and well the rest is history. When the Steelers were 5-1 heading into this game, none of us knew what to expect, because up until this, the Steelers hadn't really been tested. When they beat New England and then crushed The Eagles the following week, we knew this team was for real.

    Still the best rookie season by a qb in history

  • @defrank1870
    @defrank1870 5 років тому +18

    In back to back weeks Big Ben as a rookie beat BOTH Superbowl teams that year. Eagles and Patriots.
    The only thing that kept the team back was Bill Cowher. He decided to bench Duece Staley for some god forsaken reason, and Jerome couldn't muster 3 yards/carry. It forced Ben to throw on 3rd an like 12 each drive.
    If Cowher kept his regular season strategy, Ben would've had 3 rings by now.

    Man oh man... These were the "Golden Days" to be a Steeler Fan. That whole run from 2005 - 2009 was just Epic. Even Brady and the Pats had to bow down to our awesome might. We drank those Brady tears from a golden challace and savored every damn drop all the way to the Lombardi !!! (P.S. and the Penguins started kicking ass around the end of that timeframe too, so yeah) Good times... Gosh, we had Big Ben, Hines Ward, the Bus, Troy "MF" Polamalu, Joey Porter, James Harrison, Heath Miller, Keisel, Kreider, Fanaca... what a dream team. Defense just as formiddable as the Offence. Just a revolving door of amazing WR talent for the next 10 years from Ward, Plax, Holmes, Randle El, Wallace, all the way up to when AB showed up... damn. Now I understand why all the old heads talk about the 1970s Stillers with such reverence.
    Also...question.... why is the quality of this video straight up ass? Looks like it was filmed for a 1982 TV through my cats asshole. I mean, this was only 15-16 damn years ago! It's not like this was shot in the 1970s with Franco Harris and shit.. 1080p came out in 1998. This game was filmed in 2005 !!
    More importantly, I know for a FACT this game was broadcast in HD because I WATCHED IT LIVE IN HD on my boys new plasma down in his dad's basement! Remember back when those shits cost like $2000+?? I do... Now you can get a 65" for like $400 at Walmart.
    LOL Err'body "gatta have dat 4K Crystal" now. Or shit, 8k even... not like the human eye can even discern the difference between 4K and 8K. Most people can't tell the difference between 1080p and 4K!!! LOL, what's gonna be next? Probably VR headsets in full 360 degrees UHD. That would be a sick way to watch football, could have 20 people in the room wearing headsets and no two people are watching the same exact same thing. It would feel like you're actually on the field. Except my kid would be looking straigt up trying to see the Goodyear blimp. MAKE IT SO!

    The highlight of this comes from the Booth. Sportscasters have to be careful of early hype and not buying into somebody prematurely . On that Hine Ward adjustment catch when he said " It's over . This guy is pretty good . He is going to be consistent " , he knew there was a new future Hall of Famer QB that had arrived .
