My Dad felt like he was 25 when sitting or laying down. But when he got up & tried to work his 92 year old body let him down. He was a proud man, not in a bad way, just a man who had always done for others. Having to ask for help, hurt him deeply. He gave his knowledge & experience till the day he died at 93. He marked up changes needed on our new home blueprint the day he died. Those prints are framed & on the wall in my office, with is corrections & changes on every page & in the margins. His calculation check formulas for cement yards, # of sticks of lumber sizes, footage of electrical wire & gages. Are all there & correct. He died planning for the future & taking care of his family. Such a cherished memory from 2003. Feels like yesterday. The Wheel of Time Keeps Turning. Retire in 2025. Still feel 25 too but realize there are things I cannot do to now. Getting older sucks. But we keep putting one foot in-front of the other, until we don’t. Hope I am a good man? Like my Dad taught me to be.
What a precious 95 year old man. He looks good his age. He's a little slow, but sharp as a tack. You could learn more from him than a lifetime of living. Still smoking yet throws his butt in the burn pile. God bless our elders. They come from a time when the word "integrity" had meaning.
My boss's dad, he's 92, asked me if I thought he needed to stop smoking...lol I told him no, he needed to do whatever he wanted to if it makes him happy. Time will get him long before those cigarettes will.
I was born in them hills we moved to Oklahoma when I was 1 1/2 my Dad was the only one out of 15 kids that moved 9 are still living he will be 83 this April and he is next to the youngest must be something in those mountain streams … I love going back to visit it’s so beautiful!!!
If I ever see John on Big A Mountain Virginia I'll be a Happy Man.. As a young man I lived on Norris Lake in Campbell County... I Love what you do to keep our Appalachian tradition alive God Speed Good Sir
God's creations are so beautiful, they will make you cry..Today is 10-08-2024 and I have cried more this past week than I have in a long time, my heart breaks for everyone's loss from this storm Helene. Lord we need you more than ever in Jesus name ,amen. yes softshell turtle is good fried..
We all miss brother Ralph. But he is home with his beautiful Wife. Where they can be together. Singing and Praising GOD. Thank you so very much John for everything you do.
RIP Mr Ralph! You were truly my favorite from this channel and i wish i could have met you, we need more men like Ralph. What Ralph says at the 45 second mark is soooo true as we know too.
It was Very Nice for John 🥰 to go pick up the older gentleman and take him for a bite to eat. I’m a **dedicated FOODIE** and if anyone ever wants to get in my Good Graces, they can do so pretty quick by feeding me a deLicious pLate of SouL Food (i.e. corn bread, collards, fried chicken, Mac n Cheese, potato SaLad, fried turkey legs, etc) YUM 😋
John what a wonderful memorial to Ralph showing this video. It touched my heart to see the picture of Ralph and his wife meeting for the first time. thank you John and God Bless.
I have a niece that lives in Williamsport Tennessee and her mom had a antique store in Columbia Tennessee and she had everything in her store and she went to auctions in Franklin Tennessee and I loved to go with her
We really him so much. I'm sure his daughter's miss him, God bless Ralph's girl's and family qnd friends. Thanks to John for sharing that amazing story, we learned about truth caring and Love. We loved this story more than the reat but all are great and you John do a great job filming them and all your hard work show's.
Thanks again, John! Ain't seen Ralph in some time! What a great guy! I know this is an older video, but so good to spend time with ya'll again! Hope things are safe on your side, brother. Best channel, EVER!!!!!
Great video. Enjoy seeing and hearing from Ralph. Nice old Suzuki there John. Shame Suzuki pulled out of North America. We have a '12 Suzuki SX4 , it has been a very good car, it has been passed down from kid to kid in my family.
I started following a few months ago when i saw the video of the Country Porch store in Muddy Pond Tennessee. Mr. Ralph reminds me of my late fathers grandpop that used to give me and my sister candy every Sunday we visited. Him and my dad would sit and shoot the breeze and smoke cigars. I miss those days. Thank you for making these videos Mr. Ward. I will keep watching over and over.
Ripley Mississippi is where they have all those sales from auctions I think and they have crafts there that people make I’ve never been but my cousin and her husband would go up there every year
Clinch, Powell and the Holstein river i have saw and been on all three rivers from their beginning. I fished the Holstein river alot back in the past. Vulcanizing patches is the only patch i remember in my younger days on car tire inner tubes. You used a clamp and set the patch on fire.
John I hope you made it through the hurricane okay and I was wondering if the Madison Dry goods and the Briggs Restaurant was infected by the hurricane
95 with a cigarette.. My G dad smoked all his life until he passed at 92... Not cancer. Live life best you can with integrity. What a lovely gentleman.
If I closed my eyes Ralph sounds like my Uncle Ben. He was little when my Grandmother brought him and my father over to CA from Arkansas to work in the cotton fields in the late 1920's so he kept the accent. He talked real slow and sarcastic as all hell. The only straight answer you were going to get for sure was, "Yes", or "No."
What I'd give to live in those wide open spaces of a man who has paid his dues to the Creator by being THE CARETAKER OF THE LAND, Paul Harvey would enjoy the Mountaintop Farmlands.
That generation was my rock and inspiration growing up.... Man i miss em ..
I feel the same way.
He would be same age as my dad.Gosh I miss him enjoy him ❤❤
I know exactly what you mean❤

Retire in 2025.
Still feel 25 too but realize there are things I cannot do to now.

Beautiful country.

Smoking kills.Don't you know 😂. Hahaha. Or maybe it increases testosterone and thats more dangerous to certain people lol
Those things will get him someday…
Bob hope and George burns smoked and drank everyday yet lived forever.
My boss's dad, he's 92, asked me if I thought he needed to stop smoking...lol I told him no, he needed to do whatever he wanted to if it makes him happy. Time will get him long before those cigarettes will.
We will ban cigarettes to protect children from chemicals yet it is illegal to grow a tobacco plant in your garden as a natural pest repellent.

The older people were a lot stronger and tougher than this generation! Most men now catch a cold and think they're dying!😂😅😂

Did the buildings and all these 3 make it through flood. Praying for all of you in that area. My heart hurts for people and all lost.❤❤
My dad is 84 and still smoking. 😊
You would light the back of the parch once it was in the clamp that would create the heat for the hot patch
Ralph remind me of my fatherinlaw Luther Branscum from Booger Hollow Arkansas
He is too precious! Thanks for sharing 🥰
Beautiful work and great job documenting the generations that are still respecting and supporting each other 🩷
I would pay 500$ for that can of patches right now. Those things are super handy for trail repairs and it’s a repair that will actually last forever
Wonderful video! ❤
Glad you liked it!

💯
I wonder if he got som Viking blood in him .. hes got a swedish name and remind me of my grandpa. ❤
Did he get to eat someplace? That's what you said or didn't you film it. Any way great conversations. He's a gentleman

❤🙏
Your store make it through?
They say if you have family buried on your land, you don't have to pay taxes on it. Not sure if it's true or not
That's not true
Get you a piece of pipe for the end of that wrench and you'll get those lugs off with it.
Did you make it through the hurricane ok?
That tractor is closer to 1950 vintage
Nice video!! I have a lot of questions about that side kick. What have you done to it? Mind doing a walk around? lol.
I sold the Side kick back in 2022. it was a lot of fun but couldnt take it on long trips it was too slow.
John, it seems like your right arm is bigger than your left. Are you a former bricklayer? (one brickie to another?)
no never laid any brick..
Before my time but I been told. You never come back from Copperhead Road.
Did he work at Norris dam from 1936-2016 or what
