When Robert apologizes (when he said he was sorry), the reason he was hesitant to get involved at first, was that he had made a promise to his wife before she passed away, that he would leave his violent past behind him. She had been the center of his world. He felt like he had no choice but to go back on his word. It's what made his character so conflicted and so compelling.
Why did you feel the need to put "says he's sorry" in parentheses?
@@chadwickvon8019 why do you feel he need to be a grammer nazi?
@@chadwickvon8019 Because he probably realized he couldn't spell apologizes correctly
The fact u have to explain it is sad lol
"He didn't come to ask for help, he came for permission." Love that line
For me, it's the tiniest little things that really define how I like something. It's a great line, but it shows how awesome she was for understanding this fact.
This is based on the 1980's TV show "The Equalizer" starring the late Edward Woodward as a retired spy that used his skills to help those in need via a newspaper ad and answering service. His price was a $100.00 donation to their favorite charity.
I loved that show growing up. Loved this take on it and also a fan of the new CBS version too.
Woodward's earlier role as Callan in the series of the same name is an iconic part of British TV in the 60's and 70's. McCall was a bit like if Callan had retired and moved to the US.
I watched it every week.
Great show. I remember the thumping theme tune, written & performed by Stewart Copeland of The Police.
There's a (reboot) TV series of 'The Equalizer' starring Queen Latifah as Roberta McCall. Two seasons have already aired, season three premiered in Oct 2022 and a fourth season has been ordered. I haven't watched any episodes yet.
It was a great show. This is like an origin story for The Equalizer, his first case or something of that sort.
I remember one episode, where a kid whose parents got kidnaped or something like it, he found the Equalizer and said "I don't know if I can pay you, I only have like 3 dollars and 23 cents", and McCall told him "you are in luck, that's exactly what I charge". He made feel the kid like he was being useful by paying, but basically taking the case for next to nothing.
“Man On Fire” is an absolute required Denzel
movie, as well as “Courage Under Fire”
Training day
Book of Eli
I second Man on Fire
Every Denzel movie is great. Including the ones already mentioned, I would have to add - The Magnificent Seven, 2 Guns, Safe House, Taking of Pelham 123, Deja Vu, Inside Man, The Hurricane, The Siege, Crimson Tide, Malcolm X, Glory, Cry Freedom, Ricochet, and MY favorites - Both Equalizer's, Remember the Titans, The Bone Collector and Fallen ( Tiiimmmee, is on my side.... yes it is )
Man on Fire is a good one.
Imagine John Wick and the Equalizer in the same movie. I’d pay crazy money to see that.
Can we have a mini series with Robert McCall, Wick, Bourne, and Christian Wolff. Take all my money
@@RaymondStarkes you're missing the Transporter
Me too we need to see that and they must b on the same side it would b sick
@@RaymondStarkes John Wick, Equalizer, Home Alone, Jason Bourne, and Nobody, meet up with The Expendables and go ham on the planet. 💸💸💸
@@singingwolf3929 Brian Mills too from Taken. Imo, John Wick guns, Brian Mills hand to hand, and Jason Bourne intelligence/outsmarting.
The sequel is also really good and they’re working on a third one finally.
Really? 👌
@@naturesmusic1171 yeah
Yup with Dakota Fanning!
@@naturesmusic1171
It will be out on September 1st.
Robert McCall is an absolute beast. The Equalizer movies are at or near the top of my favorites list. Denzel is easily my favorite actor, such a great man.
I've always liked the fact that he told those kids working with him that he used to be a "Pip" with Gladys Knight & The Pips. Then, when he shows up to rescue them later, he plays "Midnight Train To Georgia" over the store sound system to announce that the defecation is about to contact the rotary oscillator.
Note. Midnight Train To Georgia - inspred by Farrah Fawcett-Majors & Lee Majors.
the “Book of Eli”
I like how you pointed out that in both this and “Taken” it’s not the young jacked guy you have to worry about. It’s an older guy with years of experience. I just saw a podcast where Joe Rogan was interviewing an author (Annie Jacobson I think) about the guys the CIA uses for their black ops assassinations and they’re all guys that have retired out of the Special Forces so they’re all at least in their 40’s or older, but they’ve been elite soldiers for 20 - 25+ years.
Fear an old man in a young man's profession
@@Freefall984 Fear an old man in a profession were people usually die young.
Man on fire, if you haven't seen that is a must watch. One of Denzels best performance. An a real hart breaker.
@ 6:30 If I lived alone, yeah one plate, bowl, fork, knife, and spoon.
If you haven't already you should watch The Accountant. This conversation reminded me of that movie.
This is the most wonderful experience I've had watching and listening to y'all's commentary, JV/Jane. The chemistry that you both share is sooooo freakin' refreshing. The way y'all were busting out laughing so often... I'm telling y'all, you made me feel soooo good inside I just had to cry my way through this one.
Wow, thank you!
@@SeeJaneGoTV the bad guy is from a fight with Jason Bourne. Much love xxx
When Robert killed Teddy, I loved how the sprinkler system, acted as Robert's tears, the tear He couldn't cry, but did feel.
Y’all need to react Training Day and Man on Fire. 2 Denzel classics
When the bad guys entered the warehouse, it became a horror movie with Bob playing Jason Vorhees and the bad guys playing the stupid teenagers.
Not sure if you've watched it already but Sicario will be one of the most intense movie you'll ever see. There's a Sicario 2 as well
He's right about the dishes. Washing dishes is the worst and the less you have the better. The kids will get used to it. That's what kids do best.
For the corkscrew, it wasn't just the fact it was shoved through the bottom of the jaw. Robert stabbed the guy multiple times with the corkscrew before he jabbed it through the guy's jaw.
Also, at the end, Robert was posting to Craigslist. It ties back into the 1980s TV series that the film is based on, in which Robert had a newspaper advertisement that reads the following: "Got a problem? Odds against you? Call The Equalizer."
This movie was pretty good and Denzel just takes it to another level. When the russian guy shows him the picture of the dead girl, he's trying to get some type of reaction but McCall just stays cold and then when he comes back up the stairs trying to be intimidating, McCall actually steps out of his house, his confort zone, towards the guy to show he's not scared. Awesome.
You should check out Deja Vu (2006) its one of my favorite Denzel movies
(Edited to add another movie) Unstoppable (2010) is even with Deja Vu for me
Its just my husband and I and we only have 2 of every dish and silverware, best thing we have ever done
The Bone Collector! Such a good movie!
💯
I was sitting there like “……..😐” when y’all were naming what he was gonna use the hot honey/oil for then were shocked when y’all saw him put it on his scar😂😂😂. Adorable lmao
John Q. is an absolute must! One of his best movies.
Happy new years to my favorite UA-cam couple.
This series is AWESOME! Also “Man on Fire” is one of my favorite movies and it’s based on the true story of John W. Creasey (the man Denzel plays) I’ve read every book/article about him but much of his career is still classified and probably will remain so forever as our government doesn’t like to release black ops /assassination documents but he had a career in US Special Operations before going to the CIA and then the FBI before retiring from Government work. A reactor that reviewed Man on Fire said he googled it and said the movie isn’t based on a true story but it absolutely is, The Voice was also real and the events , so jsut wanted to let you know before watching that he was a real man and the story is quite accurate , the events that took place after the movie ends are jsut as bad ass as well! Had to mention because the movie holds more weight knowing that and he deserves to be recognized as a real human bieng for what he did and all of his service to our country. 🙂
Man on Fire is amazing
The original Man On Fire (1987) starred Scott Glenn as Creasey and takes place in Italy (the kidnapping capital of the world at the time). It is a good movie, not quite up to Denzel's version, but still a good movie with a slightly different ending.
Yes
You don't have to give 2 weeks notice when you leave a job.
It's a courtesy from you.
At the end of the day, you have to do what is best for you.
Companies only care about themselves, so don't feel you have to be loyal to them.
They would get rid of you in a heartbeat if it meant more profit.
That slowing down of time you brought up? It is called Hypervigilance. People who live through traumatic situations, training, etc., such as LEOs, combat vets, first responders, develop hypervigilance amongst other abilities. Anyone who deals with PTSD also develops hypervigilance. I know.
Yep. It's a blessing when you're really in danger and your own personal hell when it's just your PTSD being triggered 😐
Remember the titans- is an excellent performance. Another great performance by him, although he was a supporting actor was - Glory - he played a soldier in the American Civil War and the movie was based off a real events.
“Don’t doubt yourself, son. Doubt kills.”
31:36 The Light H.I.V roast for his tattoos from Jane was gold 🤣 and JV’s reaction, looking at the camera just screams “oh my god someone come get this woman” vibes 🤣🤣🤣 goated DUO!! 🤣🤣
0:29 Now I love Jane even more. Denzel is awesome. BTW You should watch "Unstoppable" starring Denzel Washington. Just a suggestion. It got good reviews when it came out, but nowadays it seems to have been forgotten.
Denzel Washington is actually a very wise man. Look up some of his interviews on UA-cam. You will be amazed at the wisdom the man has.
Please consider reacting to _Man on Fire_ which is a similar revenge movie but more emotionally powerful. Denzel and a very young Dakota Fanning are just brilliant!
Remember the Titans is 1 of my all time favorite movies! Y'all shud definitely watch it
In the honey scene, he uses honey because it has excellent healing properties. I have had a couple of injuries where a honey-based wound dressing was used.
“Training Day” is another amazing Denzel movie! It’s a must watch for Denzel fans! Safe house is a good one too with him and Ryan Reynolds
Gotta watch Crimson Tide. A fantastic Denzel flick
You do know that the Equalizer, the original series, was from the mid-1980s. John Wick is just an advanced version of the original television show.
Wait 'til you see the second one! As has been said, "You ain't seen nothing yet!!"
As we say here in Texas; Y'all be safe
So on a positive note, I like to say this. Denzel Washington comes from the city of Mount Vernon, New York. It is the same city that I grew up in. He makes us very proud to represent the city of Mount Vernon, New York. He never takes for granted where he's from. He always represents the city. We have a lot of talent from the city of mount vernon in different genres, whether it's actors, musicians, professional athletes, but denzel stands above them all. He makes a so proud.
Love the reaction.. Other Denzel movies to check out : Out of Time, Ricochet, Remember the Titans, Training Day, Fallen, Man on Fire
Fallen is great
What's the movie with his son needing a heart?
The honey scene: honey is a natural antiseptic and will help blood coagulate sealing off a wound.
"Training Day" and "Man on Fire" are must watch Denzel films!! Would love to watch you both touch his... films.
@SEE Jane Go What separates this to me from the regular dumb action movies aside from Denzel being Denzel and one of the best of all time, is the heart, the pathos of the people he meets, and gets to like and know. An how he is protecting them at all times even behind the scenes. He appreciates them as people... a dying art in this world anymore. Appreciate the reaction and hope you see the rest
A lot of great recommendations so far. I would add “Ricochet”, “Deja Vu” and “Safehouse”. All under appreciated.
Also Denzel Washington is in a movie called glory .. it’s a civil war period piece.. he does a great job in it
I like how she keeps saying "Justin", like he has something to do with what she is seeing LOL!
The tattoos are representations of his standing in the Bratva ( Russian Mafia). Thank along the lines of Japanese Yakuza or Salvadoran MS-13.
I’m with you & agree,..as a single dad of my 3 amazing daughters , I believe that’s my purpose! They are THE brightest stars in my sky, I Love them with every ounce of my soul and my oldest 2 have been through some rough things , so being the best and most loving dad I can possibly be is what they need and deserve , I feel like it’s my purpose in life. Beyond them I guess I’m not quite sure but since they came into my life, my 3 angels are my purpose❤❤❤
Jane has phenomanel language skills!
I like Jane's question about 'How Close You Came to be Held Up at Gunpoint.' I grew up in BedSty Brooklyn, so I was robbed at knife-point four times before I was able to work and educate my way out of it. I left behind three friends, including a young woman I had dated, who did not make it out alive. Also, I will neither confirm nor deny whether I thwarted being attacked by carrying something more legal than what the bad guys carried. It is like growing up in a War Zone.
I've been looking for a place to watch people talk throughout an entire movie. Thanks
mid level bad dudes tat scene was more to showcase his importance in what would appear to be a/the russian mafia. They use tattoos to signify ranks and specific events, much like many (but not all) organized crime syndicates do.
In the next to last scene in The Equalizer, it wasn't in the rain. It was the indoor fire sprinkler system that was set off by the explosion just before the sprinklers went off.
im living that dishes lifestyle and i have to tell you its awesome.
If you love Denzel Washington you MUST watch “ Man on Fire “ !!!
Just found your channel and love it ❣️ no profanity and very enjoyable!! Thank You Guys 🏆
Those tattoos on the russian mob cleaner, are his criminal history resume showing rank and milestones
“We who?”
“…we who?”
I don’t know why I love that so much but it’s so good.
Hi Jane and JV, just wanted to say Happy New Year. You're Canadians so Happy Metric New Year? Yall are pretty great.
Idk if anyone's recommended it yet, but please PLEASE check out Man on Fire with Denzel. It is right up these same lines as Equalizer and a plot that absolutely keeps you on edge. SOOOO good.
excellent film great director too
i definitley agree, MAN ON FIRE ,based on a true story , this movie will break the pair of you, her echoing screams for creasy gets me EVERY single time. no other film hits me like like 'man on fire' does.. ( it has me sobbing )
@@niteowlreveals9599 "Creasy's art is death, and he's about to paint his masterpiece."
"Book of Eli" and "Man on Fire" are similar, but he actually lives through this movie.
Book of Eli is a Denzel must watch. So is Fallen.
Another good movie in this genre is The Accountant, 2016 starring Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick, J. K. Simmons and Cynthia Addai-Robinson
You guys reaction is the best to this movie as i just watched them all again and yours rocks. Looking forward d to 200k subscribers
Definitely need to check out Denzel in John Q
And he never once fires a gun! Have you seen him in ''The bone collector'' with Angelina Jolie? It's such a good thriller! Denzel's a first class actor that's for sure. Happy new year too!
Didn't he shoot one guy in the neck? The one that didn't take 9800$?

Correct!

Never saw this until now... lol. I should do that "your childhood crush & who you married" challenge. LOL

Y'all are awesome! This movie (and the sequel) are awesome too! Happy New Year to you and your loved ones. Been watching for years and you're really keeping this channel amazing! Oooooh Transporter trilogy pleeeeeease!!
SHAWMUT lol they're in Boston, East Boston specifically. its okay the accent is hard for a lot of people, lol
Honey has been known to do this for over 2000 years. The ancient romans learned this from conquering the area of Spain. Of course they did not know about microbes as a cause of infection, but they did see the enemy survive to fight another day when their wounds were treated this way.
I have one microwavable bowl(w/lid), two plates(lg/small), one tall plastic "glass", one lg. shrimp fork, one steak knife, one long handled spoon. That's all. I never have a pile of dishes to clean.
Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe and HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎉🥳🎈🎊
When he starts counting his life away, what is the most gangster thing I’ve seen in the movie ever
Denzel Washington is one of my top favorite actors ever!!!! The man had just celebrated his 68th birthday six days ago and still going strong!!!!
Also, I absolutely love this movie and its sequel- there will be a 3rd in the fall!!!!😉
MAN ON FIRE has to be your next movie reaction!
'What happened to your face?'
"Somethin stupid.. "
'What happened (to your hand)?'
"Hit it on something stupid.. "
One of my favorite movies of all time
Equalizer Part 2 is awesome too
I was a Traveling Clean-up Management Team for McDonalds. We went too Problem Stores . Did it for 5 yrs. Traveled all over the Country.
Me: Oooh, an Equalizer reaction, nice
Also me: Heyy, that room seems familiar
Also, also me: Heyy, that man seems familiar
Also, also, also me : OMG, why i haven't got here before?
Welcome!!! I'm his other half 😁
2 guns and safe house were pretty good ones to ! I don't think Denzel has a bad movie , his presence in the movie alone makes it good 🤷♂️
💯
Maybe he has gumdrops in there. Soundproof AND deliscious😂😂😂. Legend.
23:08 Worst possible time for a family member to walk into my room. The look I got 😮 lmao
So another fun fact about this movie? This is loosely based off of TV series from back in the 80s under the same name. However, in the series, the Robin McCall in that is a former British spy Helps the little people and the downtrodden in New York City.
Love the reaction!, so glad you guys give films room to shine in the reaction rather than chop it all down to cram it into a 20 minute video or something!
Looking forward to you watching other movies of the same style as Equalizer, but stick with Denzel too! - I don't believe this guy has ever made a bad movie!
Facts I'm with you with that one dish one spoon one fork, but I need one chopstick.
Right!!
Don't worry Jane, it's not too late to find a calling, so to speak, on top of being a good mom, which you sound like you are.
Wait until your kids tell you that you're the best mom in the world -- it'll melt your heart.
"No one in the organization is so valuable that they can't be replaced" is the message sent by her death.
The character Teddy is Russian.
The actor, Marton Csokas, is from New Zealand.
He's played everything from Galadriel's husband in the LOTR movies to the sheriff in "Loving".
58:08 If she’s referring to the criminal world, I wouldn’t say they understand that they’re shortening their life-span, HOWEVER, a lot of them understand the risks and dangers involved. It’s like gang members. A lot of them understand that they have to be willing to kill and die or do whatever they have to do for their gang/organization. A lot of them are ready to accept that, some.. Not really..
JV, I’m a single lady, and I literally have two of everything. Plates, bowls, saucers, utensils. The only things I have multiples of is brandy snifters and coffee mugs! 😂 I feel you, bruv!
To clarify the John Wick comment. He didn’t go after them solely because they killed his dog, he went after them because the dog was the last gift given by his wife
Great reaction loved it y’all were awesome hope to see y’all again for part 2 👍😎
I love Denzel he’s one of my two favourite actors (the other being Bruce Campbell), I can’t think of one movie that he isn’t phenomenal in. You should watch Fallen, it’s amazing!
Among Russian gangsters, the tattoos are not just intended to make a member "look" badassed.
They're literally a criminal "resume" that details your entire life (where you're from, who you've worked with, crimes you've committed, prisons you've done time in, etc.) in a symbolic visual code which is easily deciphered by the members.
An excellent film that explores this and other subjects concerning Russian organized crime is David Cronenberg's "Eastern Promises" (2007) starring Viggo Mortensen, Naomi Watts and Armin Mueller-Stahl.
I have watched alot of reactors react to this movie and others. I'm starting to realize that I must be the only person who watches movies quietly. I have seen every reactor talk during the movies. I literally have to rewind if I miss one line. To each their own. Just can't watch movies while a full conversation is going on during the movie. Anyway, have a great day.
The Equalizer 1985-89!
Check out the original filmed on the streets of NYC... The pilot episode was actually a two parter.
