Those snow scenes remind me of the snow storm in Chicago in '67. We had so much fun digging tunnels in the snow in the yard and jumping off of the garage roof, making angels in the streets because there was no traffic and no school. I definitely wasn't dreaming of CA back then. Snow was too much fun.

@GetYour_Jollies You never know. It was definitely unforgettable for kids. Not sure the adults enjoyed it so much. There is a picture buried somewhere in my collection of my dad out there shoveling snow. The path he made on the sidewalk was surrounded by piles of snow higher than his head and he was 5'11". It must have been exhausting. No snowblowers back then, at least I didn't know anyone who had one.

I am 23 and so tired of what these people call “music” it’s just repeated songs from way before their time. I was always into the music my grandma played in her van when we went on road trips with her. It was all stuff from late 50s-60s. Recently I remembered some of the songs she played and now I’m deep diving into this era of music and falling in love with music all over again. It’s all new to me and I can only visualize the bliss you guys must’ve felt hearing this for the first time ever. I’m happy to at least be around to hear this kind of music in high quality and through headphones on my bedroom floor with my dog. Blessed to still have my grandma around to tell her that her music has done something for me!

The allure of California is still with people from all over the world. It captured me in 1962, and that's why this classic is still so meaningful today.
In my humble opinion, one of the greatest songs ever composed and sung. Evokes so many feelings. Memories of a time I never endured or witnessed. Transcends time.

I was in grad school in Boston, Massachusetts, and this song was hard-wired in my brain. It told me I needed to return to California. I had never had roots, really. But I had gone to UCLA and loved it, and loved Los Angeles. So I came back, and made my life and loves there. And have no regrets for that. But thanks to the Mamas and the Papas for keeping me centered, and taking me back.

At 65 there are so many songs that just bring back a flood of memories, some very good and some sad. This song will always bring a tear to my eyes. She had such a beautiful voice and will be greatly missed

As a kid, this song always made me sad, and I didn't know why. Now at 60, having lost friends and family members and coming to terms with my own mortality, I understand it in the most painful of ways. I had a nephew that took his own life, leaving behind a wife and 3 beautiful children, and this song sprung to mind and I cried for the first time in decades.

Неужели нельзя просто получить удовольствие от классной, действительно восхитительной песенки и не высраться при этом в прошлое своей страны?
