    Nice explanation. Ive done the same. You can also use double vanos if you cut a small hole for outlet camshaft sensor. Then you can use ms42/43

    Part numbers for the aluminum block knock sensors are different than the iron block knock sensors. You WILL need the correct knock sensors ( torqued correctly ) aluminum sensors on a turbo iron block may not protect your car or vice versa.

    What did you do with the M54 double Vanos harness? The M52 doesn't have double Vanos?

    Was lamenting scrapping three 3 series BMWs just don't have the heart to do it.I sitting on a 1994 e36 325i sedan with the M-50. The engine in it is sweet. I was pulling a 2000 pound trailer with it and it still drove like a sports sedan. And a 2000 e46 two door coup with a blown engine. And a1999 e36two door coup with a 1996 M-3 differential out back. It seems like that e46 coup could be pretty nice does that 96 M-3 differential fit in it too. Also will the 94 transmission fit in the e46. That 99 is a blast but the e46 definitely handles better. Wish I had the time and space to do it mostly the space.

    Ac compressor bracket and tensioner needs to match the crank pully... Iron block crank pully, iron block a.c. bracket. If you use aluminum crank pully like this video, you use the matching bracket/tensioner. Also some people need to space the power sterring pump about 7/8ths of a inch to make the pullys line up. (I did not have that issue tho?)

    I'm about to do this swap aswell!

    Im currently in the process with the same type of swap. Im using a M52B28 engine with accessories from a 97 328i to E46 325ci. Engine bolts up with no issues. Oil stick from e46 325i will not bolt up to m52 328 engine mount. I will be moving over mount from the original m54b25 engine. Possible problems in the future of this build would be moving from dual vanos to single. This e46 325 runs a ms43 dme. I need to learn to tune. The m52 b28 oil pan also dose not have oil level senor i was wondering if that can be bypassed or if the m54 325 oil pan will bolt up and eliminate this issue. So far everything seem mostly plug and play. Any help from other builders is accepted

    Loving your videos. Wish you would post a ms42 to ms43 swap (or at least a over view with the wire diagrams ) I bought a condorspeed ms42 to ms43 swap kit, (few hundred dollars) they breeze right past the m54 throtel body :/ ( no wires or instructions included with the kit. ) you ALMOST showed a diagram swapping that z3 cart.

    I have euro spec e36 323i m52b25 which is alloy block and im going to put m50b25 to boost it, but i was wondering should i use the m52 or the m50 harness and m50 or m52 ecu. I know that atleast m50 ignition coil wiring is different compared to m52 but are there any other differences? Same goes with the heads, which are more capable as is for turbo build m50 vanos or m52b25 vanos head?

    Whats the fitment like between cylinder heads. I have m54 at the moment, could I swap the block and retain the head?

      M50 and M52 cylinder heads are interchangeable.
      M52TU and M54 cylinder heads are interchangeable.
      M50/M52 cylinder head can be modified to fit the dual VANOS unit and cams.

    • @Brisasfrias2
      @Brisasfrias2 3 роки тому +2

      In other words, you cannot put a m54 head on an m50 or m52 block because of the oil and coolant passages mismatch.

    • @rr46benji41
      @rr46benji41 3 роки тому

      If the only problem is the passages, then your saying it would bolt up fine? The block and head can be welded "dry deck" and oil/coolant re routed around the head gasket externally. I'm not looking to build something practical, I want to build something cool, and new

      I know there is a thread on the forums where some one did extensive weilding to make a dual vanos head fit a s52. I think it was all put into a red e46 ?

    Why don’t you put double vanos?

  • @scottclark95

    Which head and which block is in the video? I have an M50b25 single vanos with a cracked head, and i have 2x e46 325/328i parts cars. im pretty sure they have the m52b28 motor in them. just wondering if that will work out for me or not.

    • @belskyautoworks89
      @belskyautoworks89  2 роки тому +4

      The engine in the video is an M52 (not to be confused with the M52TU in the E46 323/328)
      M52 and M52TU have different cylinder heads that are not interchangeable. Different oil and coolant passages. M50 and M52 head are the same. M52TU and M54 head are the same.
      M52TU should have been called the M54 and the M54 should have been called the M54TU.

    Did you know if it’s the same scenario for the V8’s? I’m swapping an M60 into an M62 e39. Would like some help on this one

    Really not necessary to go this route unkess you damage a motor and you need a frankenmotor.

  • @samym4925

    M52tu/m54 block is better, has steal sleeve Zylinder. The m50 block Cracks by higher temperature. But the m50/m52 Head is better, has bigger intake Ports.
