    Better solution than ARP at 1/3 the price.

    What boost level becomes too much for the clamping force of the stock head bolts?

    Could 12 mom studs be installed onto the m52 block???? How much boost can the 11mm studs take without stretching or lifting the head??

    • @someguy325es
      @someguy325es  Рік тому

      You can use 12mm or even 1/2" studs. Hopwood motorsports in the UK sells a set of 12mm studs. The 12mm studs will not fit through the cylinder head and some head gaskets though so you have to drill out the holes in the cylinder head. 11mm studs don't require any modifications to the head. I've run 40-50 lbs of boost on my car with 11mm ARP2000 studs and a cutring gasket and have never blown a headgasket. You can also get L19 11mm studs from ARP.

    Is this a viable option on a stripped aluminum block ? As apposed to a time cert?

    • @someguy325es
      @someguy325es  2 роки тому

      No if the threads are already stripped out it will need a time cert

    Would the head stud holes in the head need to be drilled out for M11 Studs?

    Just watched your videos and you just convinced me I need an e30. How much HP can your rear-end and gearbox take?

    • @someguy325es
      @someguy325es  2 роки тому

      Transmission is spec’d for about 1800 hp. The rear end could probably use an upgrade to 35 or 40 axles already.

    could I use a mag drill instead of the plate ?

    • @someguy325es
      @someguy325es  Рік тому

      Sure but it would be a lot of effort for a potentially worse result. If you made a pilot to center it off the existing threads it would probably work okay
