Great to see there is still few people from around the world who care for this iconic fish! But is looks like only us salmon anglers are really trying to help! Why is that still happening? They need every possible help!
Huge greetings! from south England chalkstrem!!! hope they a bit late this season!😉
''How rare is to see fresh atlantic salmon? Unlike eagles, bisons, sea turtles and many other threatened species, you'll never see Atlantic Salmon in the wild, unless you still on river bank! They don't soar overhead, saunter across the fields, or crawl up on the beach to deposit eggs, they just swim unnoticed in the darkness of our rivers and streams. Rallying the masses to protect, preserve, or restore something they cannot see is never gonna be easy"

Grym video! Som nybliven laxfiskare tog jag min första lax nånsin i river dee som 15 åring. Helt grymt! Denna video beskriver precis hur det var och hur det kändes. Tack!

Respect for all people involved in this documentary, I hope the people who will see this sad story will realising what it's the biggest problem in the world for salmon and we should do something about it and till it's too late.

Tak Mikael for sharing this documentary. I am writing a reply a year after this was put online but the situation is as terrible in Iceland as well and it gets worldwide attention. There is no end to the greed of these fishfarms and lack of respect to nature. More and more people are speaking up in the media against this practise so I hope sincerely it will make a difference!

There are a lot to be done! Stop eating salmon from open pens, educate your friends & family, question the fish exposed in your food store, question restaurants serving farmed fish, talk to your local politicians, use C&R on wild salmon, talk to your local journalists and you can also buy our "Fight for the Wild Salmon" merch and support the organizations we donate too - show you care! www.frodinflies.com/collections/clothing-accessories

I am in Canada and somehow we won the war. I’m shocked that the land of the salmon rivers in Europe are still in the nightmare we found ourselves in. Until I watched this documentary it just didn’t make sense. 70+ billion a year and plans to 5 fold this. 1/3 of a trillion dollars annually will be next to impossible to stop. Here in Canada our wild salmon are worth more than this as half of the province relies on running fish. I pray that all our supporters never give up the fight. I feel the politicians is the answer. Do you think they support this industry for free? Money is always the key. Find the politicians who know the truth and are taking money from the industry to keep this scam going. Shame them. Have them prosecuted and repeat. Sigh.

I mean let's see how many people that really cares about the Norwegian Atlantic salmon ,everyone have protested in front of the parliament, any fisherman that will be up to participate to such a event? I guess will not be many, but if someone will organize such a event I would be more than happy to join

So sad to see , driven by greed and shot term foresight . Unfortunately the human species as a hole is a take it all at any cost society and let someone else take care of the mess . My fear is by the time we can educate everyone of the perils we have inflicted on the earth it will be to late to undue. As it’s said in the video it’s more then the fishing its the being outdoors seeing nature at it finest and being part of that experience . Unfortunately at the rate we are going we will be the last of our species who care .

Yet another narrow eyed uninformed view on aquaculture. Only representing the worst possible scenario in an otherwise great industry. They only show what you want to see.
Do your research and present them as shown, not your own personal opinions.
Yes there are problems with aquaculture, as any other industry, but not everything is bad.

    • @frodinflies
      @frodinflies  3 роки тому +8

Well thats your opinionI I have seen what open pen fish farming to to our wild salmon and the ecosystems - There is nothing good coming out of this filthy industri! Highly questioned food, genetic pollution ( more than 60% with effected DNA), parasites killing up to 90% of the wild smolt, 25% mortality, (100 milion fish die inside the Norwegian open pens) Collapsed ecosystems... My personal opinions? No - hundreds of scientist said this for years! Time to act - time to stop the greedy madness!

I would love to see your sources on this. Yes i agree aquaculture have been bad in the past, but the standards are very high now. Bentic fauna is regularly controlled, same with fish welfare and health. The video shows a few examples of what looks like m.viscosa (vintersår), and you present it like its the whole pen is infected... Cultured fish is more healthy for consumption than wild caught. The amout of evironmental toxins and metals are much higher wild. Just post your sources that are up to date and unbiased for both sides, and let the people decide.

@@nilsolavbrekke9509 as i said above, yes aquaculture was really bad earlier. And yes it has defentely had an impact on wild salmon in cases of escapes. I would advise you to look at the statistics of fish pen escapes from 2005 to 2020. You will clearly see a drastic reduction. This is because of more strict rules and laws, by goverment agencies. We care about fish! No one likes to see other living things in pain og agony. I study aquaculture and im aware of the potential effects of escapies and waste like feaces and feed. My problem with this video is the way aquaculture is portayed as a terrible industry that pollutes and produces toxic food... this is wrong. As i said, they show a few examples of fish that suffer from a bad bacterial disease. Why not show more? You’re portaying a picture to people that doesnt know any better, without any sources. This is spreading misinformation and that is dangerous. And btw: Basic fish biology; sport-fishing is terrible for the fish. You’re basiccly ripping their mouths up making it harder for them to breath wich leads to stress and reduces life quality, so you should be aware of the welfare problems you’re making for the fish.

    • @kolojeke

@@nilsolavbrekke9509 you should know very well that showing one example og thousands is not a presentable statistics for the whole... this is basic in all empirical statistics.

@@kolojeke I couldn't help checking You out! You work in the fish farming industri and therefor defend it in all ways. This is how the industri during decades have tried to defend it self instead of taking responsibility over the facts that they do damage to the ecosystems and wild fish. And the figures i use are the figures given by the industri it self - you should know this Håkon.
