While you can do whatever you want and t may not be about the money. You’ll certainly get a lot more traffic if you do unboxing videos. People like them a lot for some reason. I’d rather inbox things myself lol
You are the only AR guy that makes since. If people get a little gash on there head from glass they are not gonna attack any more. More less getting shot with a 7in barrel. I never heard of someone saying "oh yea I got shot, but the barrel was only 7.5in, so I'm OK"
@@65stang98 False analogy. Pistol rounds are designed to be fired from short barrels. 5.56 rounds are designed to be fired from a 16" barrel. Yeah, a 5.56 coming out of a 7-inch barrel is going to hurt and probably kill, that's not the issue. Do yourself a favor and try shooting it through a windshield and see what happens. It's not going to fly true, it just doesn't have the ass behind it from that short of a barrel because half your powder is going out the end of the barrel before it ignites. Home defense is probably just fine. Vehicle work.... I wouldn't count on being able to shoot through your windshield effectively. Don't believe me, go try it. I'm not up on this channel so I don't know who this guy is, but if he's calling himself a "Tier1" anything and he didn't serve in a Tier1 unit, that's all I need to know about his opinion. Notice there is no windshield in that vehicle. This guys been to a trillion classes.... no real world experience.
The 7.5 is exactly what you said it is and I see so many treating it like a redheaded stepchild. It's not a sniper rifle, it's not an infantry rifle, but it's more than a pistol or PCC. It's got its niche and that's where it shines and it can defeat body armor where the pistol or PCC can't.
Haven't you recreated a P90 with 5.7x28mm (handgun armor piercing PDW)?. Perhaps with the advantage of lower cost and higher familiarity, with disadvantage of ammo capacity and noise.
100% There is a reason private security and spec ops run short barrels. Yes they have a few bells and whistles but its the same purpose. The average person is NOT going to be 150+ yards away from a threat ever! If you are really trying to prepare you need two rifles anyways for multiple jobs.Peolpe need to lose the sniper idea. They don't train enough for that anyway. So good video sir!
@@colecole3352 exactly. The chances of a citizen on American soil needing to engage a true threat past 100yards is nonexistent. I would argue you’ll never even fight somebody from 50, and I don’t go overseas so doesn’t it stand to reason ALL my training and setup should serve a short range purpose? Hunting is a different story with a different weapon with a different caliber for a different purpose. Fighting is up close and violent and overwhelming violence wins. I don’t have to make you go to sleep, I just need to push you back far enough I can de-ass the area. That’s it.
What did you settle on? I’ve got some 10.5 platforms but want a smaller one for concealment. Seemed like every platform my friends have recommended are higher end.
@@jimmybones4299 Funny you should say that. My buddy built an AR in 10.5” Because it’s a build he had some issues which he remedied. I always said I didn’twant an AR pistol because years ago when the concept was new another buddy built one and had nothing but trouble. And the concussion was terrible. Fast forward to 2020 and I bought a Del Ton 7.5” Bbl model. Why? Well a couple things. I found the pistols sold complete from manufacturers operated without issue. As mine does. Now the concussion was still bad. But my buddy put a Flash Can linear compensator on his and it really helped reduce that. So much so I went a little nuts and was putting them on a lot of my guns. Then I saw the Del Ton for only $600. And that’s during the scamdemic! I will add I like it a lot. It’s compact light accurate and fun. My buddy was so impressed he wants one. And he already has the 10.5” one! So that’s what I have. And yes I’d recommend it to a friend.
Running 11.5. I love that you challenge the narrative of other gun people. Might need to pick one of your blasters up in the future. I believe you're absolutely right about terminal ballistics. Be safe out there
i bought an 14.5 he made! love it. you cant go wrong the build quality is high . never had a single failure ( have had the rifle about a year now) one of my better investments
Totally agree with the “hit” theory. In ‘89 I went to basic training and when we began to learn about the M16A2 one of things the drill sergeant said was that it was better to severely wound a target opposed till killing. Because it’ll take at least 2 others out of the fight, momentarily, if they have to carry a wounded target to safety.
I can't understand your logic. No soldier wants to face the same enemy on the field a second or third or fourth time. Are you just into giving them another chance at killing you or your team mates later on ? The truth is, even in the 80's and 90's and later, drill sergeants are there to get you to pass basic training with reasonable competency. Most DI's won't go about trying to argue about or correct old wive's tales like "it takes two others out of the fight.." because, simply put, they have better things to do, like making their quotas and enjoying other aspects of their lives.. Maybe some DI's believe such fallaciess; logically it makes no sense to allow an enemy to return back to allow them another chance at killing you .. If anything, the tale is more about those that are "too conscientious " to consider killing the enemy; so you tell them to wound them instead.. Of course, we don't shoot those that are injured and not a threat; but when you shoot the enemy, you are indeed there to allow the enemy to die for his/her country..
Probably one of the most informative videos on the 7.5 pistols people always put down. I myself have a 8.5" and love it. Yeah it's loud, but if set up correctly, it's very accurate and effective as close ranges. It's not meant to be a 200 yard gun. Close encounters.
I have a 7.5 seen it reach out to 300 yards and penetrate a 61 Chevrolet steel door on another youtube informatative video your good becuase within 100 yards its deadly and your likely to engage at 25 or less so home defense or cqb but its good to know it can still kill at range
Love your advocacy of the 7.5" over everybody's favorite 10.5" or 11.5" barrels. I love my 7.5" much more than my 10.5" because like you said, it's so much more maneuverable and it will do its job if I do my job. We were taught the same thing, in an imperfect situation such as a real gun fight, you put hits on the target wherever and however you can. Any hit is better than a miss and your target will very likely be staggered and impaired in his/her ability to fight back effectively the same way. So you get those hits on target, and you pound away until it's done. First to hit usually wins, even if the first hit is not perfect.
Given the choice, I'd rather have a 7.5" 556 than a 4" 9mm. Perhaps not as concealable, but considerably more stopping power should one be in a SHTF situation.
Yeah this is the video that I get a lot of comments on. I am still here in the comments section communicating with you guys. I learn a lot from you all and the great comments that are made. Welcome aboard.
Some years ago when I got my first firearm and went to a local range, a gentleman there (range sherif) was telling me how he only carries his 22lr pistol. He said “I ain’t trying to kill anyone, I just want you to leave me alone!” That statement stuck with me. Seriously hope I never have to use my firearms but hey, they always say….its better to have it and not need it…
Same here! I’m definitely thinking of the 7.5 for my first build. I was thinking the 10.5 or 11.5. Did you catch his video on why he uses 5.57 regardless of barrel length? Makes sense.
"Reach out and smack someone to get them to stop their behavior..." , I was digging the video until you said that. That statement got you sub my friend 👍😎
I usually don’t have issues with short barrel concussion and sounds but after shooting this thing outside, without issue, I’m pretty damn sure this would scramble my brain in a car
@@MrBarstow that is the stupidest thing I've heard in my life. Look into the class action against the 3m ear plugs. Not only does the military *MOST DEFINITELY* use ear protection, they take it so seriously that they will go after faulty product mfgs
What a difference a video makes... I was looking into swapping my 7.5 barrel for a 12.5, but after seeing this vid that is not going to happen. Instead a folding stock adapter so it fits "better" where I want it, but that's about it.
I actually use both 7.5 and 12.5 uppers. But with same lower. The reason I would say to still have that 12.5 secondarily to ur 7.5 is for situations where u need the velocity yet still want to keep the high mobility. I love both and run both but yeah depending on what yr doing the 12.5 isn't super needed. I find myself using my 7.5 more than any other upper, and my 18 inch upper for range/hunting. For me I really don't need 12.5, 16 etc but anyhow yeah. Rock on dude
Some things you know, but having them said in a different way allows that knowledge to be expanded upon. The "timer" vs "switch" dynamic you explained was very interesting. Of course I knew that a neck wound was bad and a brain stem hit was lethal, but I never thought about it when it came to timing in a gunfight for individual combatants. I'm just a dumb 20-year-old civilian with a lot to learn, and I appreciate the way you explained your reasoning. Makes me want a 7.5 pistol now!
24 hours after deciding to make my S&W 556/223 7.5-inch barrel AR pistol my designated trunk “rifle” (after considering other options for a trunk rifle for more than a year), I came across this video.
The one thing I really liked in your video is that you stated something that I truly agree on, firearms are tools and they can be used to stop evil and various other threats I think more people need to spread that kind of information out to people
I kept waiting for you to mention 300blk. Less blast and less performance loss in a short barrel vs 5.56. A 7.5" 300 with a linear comp is a sweet, sweet defensive setup that won't leave you deaf.
People absolutely love to criticize the 7.5” 5.56 builds. I personally love mine, I’m a big believer in having different tools for different applications. Great video, I will add that the FN P90 is another excellent vehicle gun and it’s one of my absolute favorites for serving that purpose.
My truck gun is a 7.5 inch chambered in 7.62 x 39. And its perfect for that application. I drive an f-350. Even with a 3 inch blast can its so easy to maneuver in the vehicle. I also have a folding stock and its even easier in the folded position. Its nothing to slap slap the stock closed as you present out the window.
I have an even shorter 7" AR and absolutely love it. I got mine specifically to be used as a dedicated home defense firearm as it allows me to "cut the pie" on narrow doorways without ever having to lower my barrel even as I'm going through a doorway. That alone is an ENORMOUS advantage because it allows me to get my sights on a target MUCH faster as I don't have the raise the barrel up from a low ready position (or down from a high-ready position). The key I think is to make sure that you are using ammo that's moving above 2200 FPS (which is where you get significant wounding from velocity-based cavitation effects).
Saw some research where 1800 is fast enough to do rife round damage. Well with a 300BO anyways. So I use 125gr SST fiocchi as my home defense 1900fps. With a 7.5 in barrel.
I want the same for my home but just saying I don’t your back ground but I think is better not to have your barrel at ready all the time you should try low ready that way you always have visibility’s day if you have to make quick fire you still will be proficient
Just built my 7.5" AR pistol. Sorry, I got it from 7.5" BCA 300Blackout as a side charging upper and Anderson lower I put together. This was the video that inspired me to make it during the pandemic. Thanks.
Same here! I just added the Law folder and OH MY GOSH that thing is COMPACT!!! 17.5" folded!!! Makes the IDEAL truck/car gun, IMO. I love that side-charging upper, too.
I purchased a 7.5 side charging upper just for fun to swap lowers with my 11.5 upper. This video motivated me to build a dedicated lower for Truck Gun purposes. You are right about MOB, this is the one of the reasons I sold my 16" AR and purchased an AK, I don't care about MOA accuracy I care about consistently hitting a target at 300yards. I have a video of me doing just that with my AK.
We do have milspec .22 Its 5.7mmx28 Closest you will get to an awesome round thatnis light and can put nasty holes in people.. Especially if it is solid copper projectile..Great vid with solid info. I get frustrated when people talk about how weak the 5.56 and 5.7 is. Its like being angry that a screwdriver is not a hammer.. If you are trying to subdue a peraon from 1000 yds obvs a heavier projectile is better from a long barrel: You made a solid point about behavior disruption and modification. Once you are injured (even if its not from a gun) you are thiking about your own urgent survival. Not fighting..
I like your content, when I did training with 14.5" barrel M4, always was told to use as many rounds as it takes to stop the threat. It wasn't until years later that I found out that fbi uses speer bonded .223 75 gr LE ammo in 7.5, 10.5 and 14.5 inch barrels, those rounds performed best in short ar15 or M4.
@@bradleyweiss1089 this is traveling at a good speed and would definitely stop a bad guy. Let’s be real of your not military or LEO you wouldn’t ever engage someone legally from more then 25yds maybe 50 at max. This is more then effective to do the job and has some added bonuses.
I love how you took the lower velocity issue and turned it into a positive by pointing out that the bullet doesn’t fragment allowing it to further penetrate, that was something that really opened my eyes in that aspect, I just subscribed I’ll be looking forward to new content from you, also when you said if you’re one of the guys who likes to drive with an AR in the car, I don’t have a problem with that, my man😁✌️. I have a 7 1/2 inch barrel Springfield Saint and I love it
Thanks for the compliment. I'm telling you dude I used to go to a lot of vehicle classes with these little guns and I was the only guy in the class who was getting shots through the vehicle. They weren't pretty but they were making it through. One day I was standing on the opposite side of the vehicle after I'd had my run and realized that there were a bunch of really sharp penetration holes on the other side and suddenly realized that if someone were hunkered down there they would have gotten chewed up pretty bad.
The shortest I have ever built was a 10.5" but I may do a 7" now. The reason I stayed away from shorter barrels was not noise but the pistol length gas system. Looks like it is working great for you so I am getting brave now regarding it. Thank you for your video, great job.
I did alot of research on the 7.5 inch length and decided to go piston driven instead of GI. From what I found, seems the piston system is more reliable then GI when going that short.
I LOVE my Springfield Saint Victor 7.5 AR Pistol BCM furniture. If you ever get a chance to hold one and shot it you will NOT be disappointed. The detail they put into it is just amazing 🔥🔥🔥
I’m glad I watched this video. I’ve been going back and forth in my head on whether to get 10.5 or 7.5 pistol. I think I’ve made up my mind after this.
Nice video, sir. I've also been informed by different instructors that in a gunfight, it's not necessarily the person who gets the kill shot that wins, it's the person who gets rounds on target first which causes the other person to second guess or not want to continue the fight.
Wow I’ve never heard that before and whoever told you that should refund your money. I’ve seen plenty of insurgents that were hit continue to fight but I never saw one that was dead shoot at me. Kill shots on a man size target end every fight and that’s what you should train to achieve. If you are paying your hard earned money to be trained by ”experts”, you should expect to be taught how to win a gunfight, not just survive a gunfight. Be careful who you pay your money to, their knowledge might not be solid.
@@supertrooper7403 I hear you. Instructor went on to explain that just landing a hit may not always dissuade someone from stopping either. He further emphasized the need for shot placement and landing a critical hit to end the fight. I should have clarified myself better...my bad. Either way, your advice is sound and I completely agree.
@@Knight_of_the_Old_Code wow thank you for taking my comment as it was intended, not meant as a mean reply but hopefully a helpful one. Thank you Catlin.
Altering behavior....that's really what we should focus on. I agree 100%. I am still running my 7.5 as my primary home defense and bug out gun. I love it....I dont care about unspent powder or reduced velocity at hallway distances.
Great points that I myself am guilty of entertaining on more than one occasion. At these distances caliber and lowered velocity are not the deal breakers I believed then to be. Thanks
Just wanted to comment that you have made an official subscriber out of me. Your information is not only logical but your articulation to the material is spot on. Would love to take a class from you in hopes of sharing that same information. Keep up the awesome work...!
Excellent review. A 7.5 AR Pistol in .30 Caliber 7.62x39. Powerful and compact, .300 BLK way too expensive. Using C Products magazines in 7.62x39 no issues. Thinking about getting one in 5.56 as well.
Abner, Im sorry if you've already answered this question before. What is the life expectancy of your bolt in a 7.5? I'd expect to be replacing bolts every 3000 rounds
I have lately started to love my 7.5, I still shoot my 10.5's but have realized the 7.5 is just so much more maneuverable and by the time you get out to 10.5 you might as well have a 16 inch on the end !!
I had a 7.5 built by T1C and have not had a single issue running any type of ammo through it....I had it a little over a year and it gets beat in every course and outing it goes on...... this guy knows his stuff! The quality is impeccable...will definitely be making another purchase soon
The AR is an excellent platform in something like the amazing 6.5 Grandel, the SIG P229 in the 357SIG would be a better choice with the same stopping power same volocity and if you need barrier penetration you got an excellent round like Underwood 125gr Gold Dot@1600fps.
Thank you for the why behind the 7.5" I was set on a 10.5" because of the velocity and this video makes sense and helps me now look at the 7.5" option. Keep the videos coming Sir. Clicking subscribe now 👍
Good info and well presented, as always. I do think that you maybe over estimating your targets reaction to getting wounded. I've seen this same thought process in the dojo. "If he gets hit here....he will do this". Targets in real life do not always react like they do in the dojo. Talk to any infantry man who has served in the last 20 years. They can often tell you stories of wounded adversaries who don't show signs of being hit until they finally go down. Especially when being hit with 62gr ball. Never depend on an expected reaction by your adversary to being wounded.
I've made similar arguments. Yeah you lose ballistics with a shorter barrel... but you are still sending metal through a threat. Personally I use 300blk just because it isn't as brutal inside a car or building. But 5.56 works great in 7.5
I really thank you for this video. I am about to begin my very first build and I was really feeling uncomfortable with having a 7” barrel, until I came across your presentation. I am a brand new shooter and I really feel this was the way to go and even more so now!!!
I've been thinking about a shorty build after looking at the 5.5inch Sig MCX, Maxim PDX and the ak74u. A little 7.62x39 seems like a decent option because there's not a huge velocity penalty for going shorter.
So intelligently useful. I would like to see you break this down into 4 or 5 different scearious and role play through them, and then do it again at the range. One video per scenario. Please!
i bailed on a 7" ar just yesterday because of the sterotypes on it....not only has this video changed my mind, im going to check out your website and buy one of them
I very much appreciate this video. I just purchased the new S&W AR pistol in 5.56/.223. I pick up Monday and will hope to get on the range shortly after
Amazing video even 4 years later I watched it when it came out and yet l still gain knowledge. You may have already posted but what is the upper component's thank ahead
The upper is an Anderson Mfg. Upper, no forward or ejection port cover. The barrel is 1/7 ballistic advantage, govt. profile, the handguard is a BCM-8 MCMR, the BCG is AIM Surplus NIB-X, an A2 flash hider, a Melonite coated gas tube, charging handle is a BCM GFH Mod-4B, the lower is a ballistic advantage, Trigger is Geissele SSA, the Grip and trigger guard are Magpul, the stock is a Mission First Tactical Minimalist and the optic is a Trijicon RMR-08G.
I bought a 7.5 from tier1citzen a year ago. I totally agree with Abner's statement. The upper he built runs all day, everyday! No need to build your own with his quality products.
Great video! I just bought a PSA 7.5" AR pistol. 😊 Do you think there is a difference between being a "citizen" and "one of the people "? I've been hearing people I know who reject the title citizen. Lol. Thank you for the good work! Excellent content.
Ok. So I love this idea After first shots at the range I got a wake up call on how loud they are. So if you have to use it. In the car or in the house for defense. It’s probably going to deafen you ? Maybe permemnat damage ? Thoughts ? Too loud with no ear pro
On the topic of ballistics and stopping power, I always ask my buddies would you rather be shot by a 7.5 inch or 16 inch AR? The answer is usually NEITHER!
the only difference is accuracy at a distance over 600 meters. At 600 meters I can put one in something the size of a human head with a 16 inch barrel. A shorter barrel is used for close combat and in his situation, better maneuver in a car. Closer than that and I'll have to go with my fostech origin.
"Excuse me threat while I get my hearing protection, and then make sure they're making a proper seal so I don't blow my ear drums out with this 5.56 round coming out of this tiny barrel in this box I'm in".
Excellent video, puts my mind in a different element and I appreciate your angle in which you approach the 7.5. Good lesson and lots of knowledge. Thank you.
I love it, one of the very few people that realize you're shooting a 22 on steroids. And that the object isn't to kill, it's to end the conflict either by cover fire for an escape or distracting them with a few bleeders.
I've done the research and I've chosen a 7.5 barrel for my home defense weapon. Chambered in 300 B.O. In my opinion the 300 is the most versatile caliber. Home defense round is 125gr fiocchi SST.
The Kyle Rittenhouse incident shows what a hit by 5.56 at close range into muscle will do. Mil-spec M855 FMJ does more damage than most people believe.
You nailed it AR15's are generally underpowered! I've got to loving the 7.5" 7.62x39 with Tulammo 122 Steel Cased Hollowpoints. I've been killing deer and hogs with it. It's light and fast handling. It is also a bit quieter than 5.56 to my ear. Your Mileage Might Vary I have a 7.5" in 5.56 too..... But I like the 7.5" x39 and I'm still studying it's effects on flesh and bone but.... I'm thinking now it might be my favorite.
@Frank Tank You do realize that 7.62x39 has a greater case capacity and a much larger bullet. Is the 5.56 magic or something. I have killed thousands of hogs with 5.56, 300 Blackout, 7.62x39, 357 mag, 9mm and archery tackle. 5.56 is low on my choices for that particular task. It will get the job done but, is a very poor performer. Just giving my experience. Maybe you would like to share yours.
@Frank Tank look buddy! You are not a hunter or you would know better. I don't care about 500-700 yards. If that is the ranges I am hunting at, neither one of these calibers would be on the menu. Save your breath. If you like 5.56 hunt with it. Why bother trying to convince me.
Shootin' with Uncle Dan it’s ok cus whenever the extractor fails on that 7.62 (happens ALOT with 7.62x39 ar platforms) I’ll still be shooting. . Tbh you’re Better off with .300 blackout if u need more than 5.56. As far as reliability I can’t put my trust in a 7.62 “AR”. Just wasn’t really designed for the cartridge. Do the research. Don’t get me wrong tho it’s a GREAT build. While it runs. Lol
Kinda on a budget so I bring my HD rifle with me and it doubles as a vehicle rifle. it's 10.3" .300 blk, and yeah it's not that easy manipulating that thing in that tight a space. Great video! I don't know why you aren't a bigger channel your sling setup video saved me from so many headaches.
When I go shorter than 12" I Change caliber to .30 cal. Either 300blk or 7.62x39. Less of a trade off when you start to chop length. Ammo weight is a consideration as well. I hunt with a 10" 7.62x39 using soft point and it leaves a great TSE. Half dollar size exit on most coyotes and hogs. Otherwise I run 110 gr copper solid hand loads to get an extra 85 fps. Hitting 2250 fps. Great load for barrier pen, and less keyhole thru glass and sheet metal. Love your philosophy of "just gotta hit" 🔫💪👍
Excellent info dude. I wish everyone could reason like you do. So many people here on UA-cam want to go al viking in the comments section. I monitor comments on all of my 600+ videos, some days it gets hairy.
I have referred to "Minute of Bad Guy" more than once in the past. Currently running a Radical 7.5" with a KAK Shockwave brace, with consistent hits at 110 yds on the 10" target we have. Still have a 10.5" build to do. Good, informative video. I especially like your sling setup while in the drivers seat.
If you want a gun that exceeds 100 yards with accuracy to spare then a 10.5" build will suit you. Anything inside of 100 yards can be covered by a 7.5" build.
When you look at guns that are really more optimized for this role than the AR, you see the barrels around 9". G36C, SG553, HK53, Et... Outside of 556 there are some other options. I think the advent of unsuppressed .300blk is really a game changer here with the Sig Rattler, Honey Badger, 9" MCX, etc...
Great video! Wanting to add AR’s to my collection, def getting a 16in. Debating between getting a second pistol AR in 10.5 or 7.5, you’ve convinced me the maneuverability and ease of storage is a worth while trade off to the benefits of a longer barrel
The 556 was not really meant to be in a 7.5 inch barrel. the ballistics are miserable. But for vehicle training i suppose its fine because you are talking about cqb. Best 556 barrel length in my opinion is 11.5 inches. You get decent ballistics and its not bulky. 300 blackout was designed to be shot out of a short barrel. 9 inches for 300 blackout is the optimum length anything past that is the point of diminishing returns. I would use a 300 blackout for vehicle work. Supersonic rounds can hit out to 300 with 130 grain bullets rather than the 55 grain 556.
@@TW-ck1ui My 5.5 inch barrel Rattler with 55 grain fmj averages about 1950 feet per second which is still better ballistics than a 9mm handgun and will penetrate 3a soft body armor. Load up some 75 grain Speer Gold dot rounds and ballistics are even better.
I was waiting for this comment. Okay, yeah, it's twice as expensive to shoot but if we're talking about self defense and not range theatrics, you can easily double the bullet mass and get full powder burn in an 8 to 9 inch barrel. That way you can put them down instead of just alter behavior.
@@not1just4words I have a 8" 300bo and Im probably gonna swap the barrel for a 5.56 real soon. The 300bo is a better round for a short barrel but the ammo is too expensive. Since Walmart stop selling it, I'm paying $15.99 for a box of 20 locally but I can get 5.56 brass cased ammo from the same store for $6.99 a box. This was before the pandemic, now I can't find any 300bo ammo at all locally. This is one of my favorite AR's but it gets shot the least. My other dilemma is, I don't want to have to stock up on ammo for so many different calibers. Other than that, I think 300bo is the perfect round for this type of build.
Power only matters is handguns "which only matters if you're not shooting mouse gun ammo", punching through body armor "which unless shit truly hits the fan or you're in a job that requires you to face threats with armor is pointless for the vast majority of gun owners" or you're trying to reach out to distance "Which unless you're a hunter or sniper, you're not going to need in a self defense situation". 7.5 is plenty enough for 99.9 percent of most civilian gun owners.
If you had to engage aggressors when doing dignitary protection, your Intel and advance teams have failed and you have to now salvage the situation by getting the principal out. You only fight as much as you need to get the principal out. The point is not to win the fight against the aggressors, the point is to survive the contact and get the principal out safely. Even if you don't fire any shots back, the aggressors all live and escape, as long as you got your principal out safely, you did your job as the protection agent. Leave the investigation and follow up to the other guys who do that part of the job.

What would be the best muzzle device for a 7.5" barrel (for sound/concussion)
You are the only AR guy that makes since. If people get a little gash on there head from glass they are not gonna attack any more. More less getting shot with a 7in barrel. I never heard of someone saying "oh yea I got shot, but the barrel was only 7.5in, so I'm OK"
Exactly!
7.5 sure is a lot longer than most pistols. Which just screws that idea.
😂😂😂😂
@@sld2155 yeah i aint readin all that dawg
Boom, perfectly said.
Haven't you recreated a P90 with 5.7x28mm (handgun armor piercing PDW)?. Perhaps with the advantage of lower cost and higher familiarity, with disadvantage of ammo capacity and noise.
Never thought about the body armor. Good point.
That’s it.

I just purchased my first AR build, 7.5”. Thanks 4 showing the possibilities. I was doubting my choice a bit.
What did you settle on? I’ve got some 10.5 platforms but want a smaller one for concealment. Seemed like every platform my friends have recommended are higher end.
64 guns and counting brother it's a drug
Its good for home defense, clearing houses or vehicle use. Truck gun
I'm looking for someone with one to come try it out on some pigs before I build one.

I'm still there. I've been there for a long time and don't intend to ever change.
True.
My DI told me the exact same thing at Ft. Jackson, SC during my basic training and I have never forgotten it.
Outdated thinking- no way 2 Hajis will leave the fight to take a mate to safety- it's a new world
My DI always said "Never shoot 'again', always shoot 'some more'.
I have to say this may be the most informative video I've ever watched in my life.
This guy is really a wealth of knowledge!! And he shares it without being an arrogant prick!
He seems like a guy you could hang out with
To bad a ar15 in 556 with that barrel length isn't reliable
Probably one of the most informative videos on the 7.5 pistols people always put down. I myself have a 8.5" and love it. Yeah it's loud, but if set up correctly, it's very accurate and effective as close ranges. It's not meant to be a 200 yard gun. Close encounters.
I have a 7.5 seen it reach out to 300 yards and penetrate a 61 Chevrolet steel door on another youtube informatative video your good becuase within 100 yards its deadly and your likely to engage at 25 or less so home defense or cqb but its good to know it can still kill at range
Everyone needs to see this video. So tired of un-informed people acting as if a 7.5 inch barreled 5.56 ar platform is a BB gun.
Correct!
Hes talking about car work. So, outside of that the facts stand.

Given the choice, I'd rather have a 7.5" 556 than a 4" 9mm. Perhaps not as concealable, but considerably more stopping power should one be in a SHTF situation.
Also, 5.56x45 out of a 7.5"goes through level IIIa body armor. Common pistol caliber rounds do not go through body armor.

I really appreciate the attitude and outlook here. Too many folks these days seem way too eager to “smoke” someone for something.

Some years ago when I got my first firearm and went to a local range, a gentleman there (range sherif) was telling me how he only carries his 22lr pistol. He said “I ain’t trying to kill anyone, I just want you to leave me alone!” That statement stuck with me. Seriously hope I never have to use my firearms but hey, they always say….its better to have it and not need it…
I was debating on 7.5 or the 10.5 for truck carry but you just sealed the deal with the 7.5 👍🏾
The 7.5 I built based on yours is still my favorite AR (out of an undisclosed number of ARs).

I lost all my ar's. Damn boating accidents.
Mine also. Great little get around gun.
I would prob use my 9 in the car before my 5.56 7.5 pistol, I like Hearing the birds sing in the morning... lol
Exactly ! These would deafen you permanently possibly in a car or in home defense. Really makes it not a option for me now.
Most military does not use ear protection in combat. They dont come back deaf.
Most every Vet has hearing problems, and I would wager more than 75% have at least some level of hearing disability payments
I watched this video just for the gun/barrel length, but I learned a bunch of other stuff. Nice video from all aspects.
Idk why ppl act like the 7.5 won’t kill lmao

Good call, dude!
Probably the best firearm video i have seen on youtube yet
People absolutely love to criticize the 7.5” 5.56 builds. I personally love mine, I’m a big believer in having different tools for different applications. Great video, I will add that the FN P90 is another excellent vehicle gun and it’s one of my absolute favorites for serving that purpose.
Well said and I wholeheartedly agree.
My 7.5 appreciate's the recognition.
Thanks.

You are right about MOB, this is the one of the reasons I sold my 16" AR and purchased an AK, I don't care about MOA accuracy I care about consistently hitting a target at 300yards. I have a video of me doing just that with my AK.

If you are trying to subdue a peraon from 1000 yds obvs a heavier projectile is better from a long barrel:
You made a solid point about behavior disruption and modification.
I have no problem with my 7.5 from the craters it leaves in steel at 100 yards, I know it will make a bad guy have a very bad day.

That was my thought as well especially if you run 223s. I don't have test or statistics but just thought it made sense.
Just picked up a Del Ton 7.5”.
Very pleased.
Most manufacturers have figured out how to gas these 7.5” barrels now...I have had 2 from different manufacturers and they both ran 💯

I'm glad it helped.
Nice video, sir. I've also been informed by different instructors that in a gunfight, it's not necessarily the person who gets the kill shot that wins, it's the person who gets rounds on target first which causes the other person to second guess or not want to continue the fight.
Yeah that goes under the heading of it's not important how fast you hit, only how fast you hit something important.
@@Tier1Citizen Yes, sir...

What is the life expectancy of your bolt in a 7.5?
I'd expect to be replacing bolts every 3000 rounds
That is only true if you're talking about a typical 7.5" that is over gassed. one like this is more into the tens of thousands of rounds.
I have lately started to love my 7.5, I still shoot my 10.5's but have realized the 7.5 is just so much more maneuverable and by the time you get out to 10.5 you might as well have a 16 inch on the end !!

But 5.56 works great in 7.5
Hard to beat an 8.5” 300 blackout throwing 110gr vmax. For it’s size the concussion isn’t bad, especially with a linear comp.
My sig 516 7.5 blows apart cinder blocks at 50 yards. Deadly accurate. Never tried over 100 but every medium-range shot was devastating.
I really thank you for this video. I am about to begin my very first build and I was really feeling uncomfortable with having a 7” barrel, until I came across your presentation. I am a brand new shooter and I really feel this was the way to go and even more so now!!!
Use a buffer from Guntec USA or one from Aero Precision of at least 4 oz. That should slow the gun down enough to make it reliable.
Tier 1 Citizen thanks for the advice. I am looking into it right now!
Please!
What about hitting your suppressor when you swing out the window

They're not just fuzzy words, when I speak them, I firmly believe it.

I love it, one of the very few people that realize you're shooting a 22 on steroids. And that the object isn't to kill, it's to end the conflict either by cover fire for an escape or distracting them with a few bleeders.
Great minds think alike! I have a 7.5 pistol for my suburban and its perfect for quick firepower on demand. Cheers!
Exactly! These things are handy for putting peoples' heads down and giving you the cover to move out of danger.
Where in your truck/SUV can you store something that big, and still have it securely enclosed, for legal purposes?
What caliber?
@@ShawnGS300 It fits snug in between my Driver's side seat and center council plenty of room. It's a multi caliber so it fires 5.56 and .223
great video. I really like your different perspectives on interactions; especially the MOA vs MOB conversation. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is the video I didn't know I needed to see, nice one
Glad I could help.
I've done the research and I've chosen a 7.5 barrel for my home defense weapon. Chambered in 300 B.O. In my opinion the 300 is the most versatile caliber. Home defense round is 125gr fiocchi SST.
Yes, expensive for a range gun but defense and hunting the 300 is the way to go...BIG HOLES😎
The Kyle Rittenhouse incident shows what a hit by 5.56 at close range into muscle will do. Mil-spec M855 FMJ does more damage than most people believe.
Nice brother. I just got a 7.5” in 300AAC Blackout for the exact same philosophy of use as you. Good stuff brother.
Lol
I’m thinking about getting a 7.62 39 7.5 “ upper . I have the 5.56 in 7.5” . I need a better muzzle device for it .
@@jeremycabaniss6272 with a 7.5" 5.56 you need a blast can to take some of the pressure wave downrange👍🇺🇸
Love your philosophy of "just gotta hit"
🔫💪👍
Excellent info dude. I wish everyone could reason like you do. So many people here on UA-cam want to go al viking in the comments section. I monitor comments on all of my 600+ videos, some days it gets hairy.
I have referred to "Minute of Bad Guy" more than once in the past. Currently running a Radical 7.5" with a KAK Shockwave brace, with consistent hits at 110 yds on the 10" target we have. Still have a 10.5" build to do. Good, informative video. I especially like your sling setup while in the drivers seat.
This is what I was looking for Glad I found you ! I’m having a hard time between 7.5 and 10.5 And I definitely want a truck and all around gun
If you want a gun that exceeds 100 yards with accuracy to spare then a 10.5" build will suit you. Anything inside of 100 yards can be covered by a 7.5" build.
@@Tier1Citizen great ! And really that’s what I want CQC Truck etc etc
What are your plans for ear pro when you may need to use it in a rush Don’t you think it will kill your ears ?
Right on!
Thoughts on 300blk in the same package?
Alright, you said it, I'm offering it. tier1citizen.com/shop?olsPage=products%2Ft1c-8-dot-0-ar-15-upper-300blk
@@not1just4words
I have a 8" 300bo and Im probably gonna swap the barrel for a 5.56 real soon.
I will definitely be ordering the 7.5 upper for my birthday this coming spring😍
EPT what's good homie
Power only matters is handguns "which only matters if you're not shooting mouse gun ammo", punching through body armor "which unless shit truly hits the fan or you're in a job that requires you to face threats with armor is pointless for the vast majority of gun owners" or you're trying to reach out to distance "Which unless you're a hunter or sniper, you're not going to need in a self defense situation". 7.5 is plenty enough for 99.9 percent of most civilian gun owners.
BEAUTIFUL video man! I’m seriously considering classes at tdi next year since it’s only an hour away
TDI is it! They are absolutely top shelf.
@1:39 *love how he describes the right way to do a drive by*
It was a hard learned lesson.
I love my 7.5” for the very reason you mentioned Truck gun
Amen, I think if you don't have a rifle caliber truck gun then you're slacking! Great video brother!
