Framed by the muted colors of the wings, the lion's face really draws my attention. The rider is sufficiently distinguished from the lion by the red highlights, does not distract from it. Looks quite fierce with thos plasmatic bolt eyes!
Really liked how you talked about the tipping point. Wanting to try one more thing and finding the right point to call it done; I think that is a pretty universal hobbyist experience.
This turned out wonderfully! I printed this set out months ago and painted them in more of a Death Knight style with cold blues and greens and purples. I never thought of the crystal base - mine sadly is on a boring old "Boulder" she's perched on. While I don't personally use Army Painter Speed paints; I achieved very similar results wet blending the GW Contrast paints, honestly they have become my "go to" while trying to do fire effects. Entire object in a yellow, wet blend in orange on 3/4 of the yellow, wet blend in red on 1/3 of the orange, finish with black just on the tips of the red. The fluidity of these types of speed paints allow wet blending so easily for people like myself that aren't the greatest painters in the world. I have toyed with the idea of painting up a ghost army with the same techniques of wet blending for a spectral glow effect. If you like the sculpts Titan Forge made from the Requiem Brotherhood then you should really look at what Heroes Infinite did with their Paladins of the Light release on Patreon and MMF - I use both of these sets together in my One Page Rules skirmish games.
Nice, I'll check those suggested ones out. Yeah, I normally switch between contrast and speedpaints. They're just fantastic for getting quick layers down and also you can really get creative with them.
Nicely done mate. Really cool how you noted the rider blending in and disappearing, and the way you fixed it. Top shelf. I look forward to more content :)
Plasmatic Bolt is turning out to be one of the most useful Speedpaints - I'm using it all over the place. Great video and the finished model looked amazing.
I like the overall effect but speedpaints seem very matte. Is there a way to give them slightly more lustre, so they look more like an acrylic paint finish?
I feel like a lot of the time that's caused by my zenithal prime being darker, and also the washes I use darken things down. I've just tried the latest Contrast Paints and they certainly look a lot more like a traditional paint so that could be something to look at.
That magical effect looks solid. I would not have thought to mix plasmatic and hive dweller together. Nice job!
Yeah it's odd how some colours go together when you really don't expect them to.
Loved your tutorial. I've been debating about getting this miniature, but I think you have helped me make up my mind. I will be purchasing it.

Thanks! Originally I was going to be lazy and not do the eyes, but I'm really glad I did them like that.

Yeah I feel like it's something we all encounter and can feel pressured to keep going, but at some point you've just got to call it a day 😁

Thanks, glad you liked it. I like to try and point out those sorts of things so others can think about it as well.
i really love your style. its very achievable for beginners and still very pretty. keep up the great work
Thanks. I'm still learning myself and I wanted to make all of my stuff accessible for anyone else in the same sort of place as me.

Great video - THX
Didnt know you can put a wash on top of the speedpaints - does this work with any wash ? 😅
Yeah pretty much! Just let the speedpaint dry first and then go wild.
well done. keep going!
Take a shot every time really is said, pissed after 5mins
At least I can fuel some drinking games! I’ll try and watch out for repeated words in the future 😂
