  • The 131ci Screamin' Eagle Stage IV Kit with the Cycle-Rama CR512 Camshaft is still a very popular go to choice for many customers looking to go fast.
    This time however, CR512 Camshaft was on backorder during the build process & the customer could not wait. So I trialed a new Camshaft I hadn't used before....The Rocket Cams 544.
    This 544 Cam requires a higher compression ratio than the stock 131 engine straight out of the box so I'm expecting it to be a little soft off the bottom & maybe a decrease in expected HP.
    The reason I am not bumping up the comp ratio is because when the CR512 gets installed the comp ratio will be too high for that cam & it will sacrifice mid to top end performance.
    A few other bits went into this build with the Alpha Performance Engines 'Hot Up Kit'. The hot up kit includes, Cycle-Rama Billet lifter cuffs, a hand ported & textured 64mm intake manifold, A.P.E High Capacity lifters & it also comes with the CR512 Camshaft. So if you order the Hot up kit you will get the CR512, it was just unavailable at the time of filming.
    The fueling OE+ Cam plate went into the cam chest for some added security & strength. The upgraded Cycle-Rama Compensator Ramp was also installed with this build.
    Also on back order during the time of filming is the full header system from RINEHART, so for now it is just running the factory header setup with RINEHART Slip on's.
    Thanks again to all my viewers & subscribers!! I do all this for you guys!!
    I do my best to get you guys some great first hand professional insight into what's involved with these builds.

    I went with the Screamin Eagle Oil Pump and camplate upgrade system for my bike. Since thats what they use in King of the Baggers.

    • @MasterTechMiller
      @MasterTechMiller  2 роки тому +1

      I'm not convinced on the new Cam Plate from Screamin Eagle yet.
      The bronze bushing for the pinion shaft is a turn off for me.
      What I've seen happen with the S&S cam plate with a bronze bushing is when the crank runout becomes a little over 6 or 7 thou the bronze bushing grabs and ends up turning inside the cam plate. Once that happens it ends up blocking off the oil feed holes causing huge damage.
      I'm not saying the SE cam plate will be the same but having the bronze bushing is a turn off for me.
      I prefer having the plain bearing like the Factory plate & Fueling plate.

    I want to say its great to have posts by Aussies when it comes to Harley work. I have recently completed a 128 build on my 2020 Road Glide and the rear cylinder has developed a small leak around the base of the rear cylinder so I will probably need to use a gasket sealer and was just wandering if you can advise what you use or recommend?

      @@tubalcain2077 best option for a drop in stage 2 cam kit would be the SE204 cams. They will bring the bike to life and add a nice lumpy idle to it.
      If you go upto the SE 211 came, you really need to add more compression to gain the full benefits otherwise it will loose too much down low.
      The SE204 came are the best all round drop in cams that will improve initial torque and hold it higher throughout the entire rpm range. HP will increase slightly at the mid to top end of the rpm range.

    • @MasterTechMiller
      @MasterTechMiller  2 роки тому +1

      @@tubalcain2077 if you are willing to add some compression to the engine there are more options like the SE259e cams, SE211, SE585 & SE260. It just depends on your budget and how you want the engine to perform

    • @MasterTechMiller
      @MasterTechMiller  2 роки тому

      @@dry509 It's all relevant to how the engine will be used. If it is going to be flogged every weekend at the drag strip it will most likely end up twisting.
      If it's just used to cruise around the streets and in the highways and the occasional 'play time' then it's going to hold up just fine.
      We have an option that utilises the factory crank. We have the crank halves split then a an upgraded rod bearing is install, a crank plug is used in place of the factory pin. The crank is then trued into place with a jig to under 2thou then finally the plug is welded so it can't move.
      We recommend install these cranks on engines that are subjected to harsh riding styles and race applications
