I'm disabled and no longer able to travel. I spend most of my time in isolation in my small studio apartment in Berlin or out in my neighbourhood on daily short walks with my little dog. It’s really fun to see this stage in your life. Especially as a wife and mother, I always viewed motherhood and marriage as limiting and just an end to one’s independence. Very proud to witness a different narrative. I look foward to living like this as well.
Traveling alone teaches so much. A few years back, after a devastating breakup, I traveled by myself : every month and a half , I would go some place for a few days, sometimes just for the weekend. It was healing, I learned so much, I cried, I met people....and now, as Lizzo would say "I'm not the girl I was or used to be, bitch, I might be better"

the last time I was in that exact spot at lands end, I was by myself and a woman came up to me to ask if I can help her record a video of her spreading her son’s ashes in the ocean 😭😭😭 there’s always a special energy there! glad you were able to make some genuine human connection there too 🫶🏼

I don't know why but this has just become my favorite vlog of Jenn's. I think this somehow captures the entire feeling of a life's journey that Jenn had, something I'd like to do when I am closer to the end of my life. Just absorbing and reconnecting to the quiet of my soul.
Do you ever worry about people approaching you while you're alone? I used to enjoy being alone and talking to strangers when I was younger, but somewhere along the way I developed a lingering paranoia that sparks an instinct to end the conversation and leave because they might be mocking me or have some other intention that isn't just friendly. It feels exhausting at times, just like any uncontrollable concern does, but I was wondering how you've handled that in the past if that was ever something you faced. Regardless, your videos have been so so encouraging. I've been rewatching them whenever you post and try to remind myself of adopting your outlook (that I very much share, but tend to forget when things get rough). hugs

I would say traveling solo makes you really think about what you want to see and do. Like when you go with a group of people it's a whole group consensus on what you should do on the trip. But solo is just about you and what makes you enjoy the trip doing whatever comes to mind and taking new experiences, or even expanding your horizon.

your video reminds my solo trip to Taiwan (used to visit it yearly during pre-covid) in 2018. That feeling of enjoying the scenary, doing everything by yourself is just wonderful and actually beyond words to describe it. The happiness that I experienced during that trip just surface out, not just a little but all.

hi jen, your videos have been such an inspiration for me lately. i’ve been extremely anxious but just seeing you go on solo adventures in the last few videos and the sound bath last video has inspired me to do things for myself more often and focus on self care whenever i get the chance, which has been soo hard to do during exam szn. but you’ve motivated me to incorporate little things like breath work into my daily routine, im trying to stick with it so hopefully i get the hang of it and see some benefits soon :) anyway LOVE U can’t wait to watch this video, thanks for uploading ❤️
I adore the fact that you literally put yourself into the reality of people who are alone - although I know you enjoy your little getaways. I think of the people who does not chose to be alone but for some reason is put in that position. I especially like the end, where you reflect on how that impacts your view of life and other people. That to me is the beauty of humanity.

i always wanted to be brave and bold enough to eat out alone; i envied those with a book at the bar, perfectly at peace. traveling with work allowed some autonomy do to such things & i've taken it home too. it's exhilarating!! this looked like an excellent trip! so inspiring jenn❤

Jenn, I’ve been loving these solo-date/being alone vlogs. I’m going through a tough time right now struggling to like myself or be by myself and sit with my thoughts/existence. Sitting in my apartment alone eating lunch that I cooked for myself while watching your vlogs on a Sunday is the best feeling I’ve felt in a while. You make me feel like I can be strong and be alone too. 💓❤️💖
I’ve been living in SF since September and im in my young 20s. Which actually can feel quite lonely at times and this video came to me right when I needed it. Thank you:) inspired me to do a solo date around the city. Which is so cool too considering I’ve been a fan of yours forever. so random how things come into place 🤍
When I was younger, I would have never dreamed of traveling alone, I was far too timid and scared. Now though, I have discovered how much I actually enjoy traveling alone, because I'm in full control of what to do. Traveling with others is great too, but when you do that, there is always this "where should we go now, do you want to go there, what about there." But when you go alone, you don't have to negotiate with anyone, you are free to do whatever you want, whenever you want and I really enjoy that.

Story of my life, always traveling by myself and avoiding restaurants so I don’t have to answer “Just me” 😅! Apart from that, as you said, you get to do much more when alone and notice more the surroundings! I rarely travel with others but I enjoy that as well! Beautiful video Jen! You always inspire us with your modesty, an example for all other UA-camrs and not only! ❤

this is so true. I travelled for the first time by myself this year and you're absolutely right. I really thought I would feel super uncomfortable and retreat back to my hotel for most of my stay. but I was really surprised at how energetic and eager I was to keep going and keep seeing things. having that freedom to do whatever you want means that I went out more, it's only when I'm with others where I want to go back and hide in my bed.

I was a tourist in San Francisco a while ago.. I remember Lombard street! But I also recall my anxiety about going there alone. But I missed out on the museums so I would totally want to go back. Your adventures.. I’m living through this vicariously!
What a breath of fresh air this video was. I LOVE having ME TIME, but don’t think I’d feel comfortable enough traveling on my own unless it’s not too far from me. We often get so consumed with everything going on with family, friends, social media, that we forget to look up and take it all in what the world has to offer and one of the best ways to literally recharge your soul! More videos like this please and how it relates to the season of life you’re in 🤍
SF is my comfort place and bc times are a little rough for everyone rn i just havent been back in a minute. It’s refreshing to see someone i grew up watching appreciate it in the same way. Traveling alone is so refreshing, im glad you let us join you:)

I am currently only my last full day of my first solo vacation and it's been very transformative thus far. I did not do a ton of sight seeing, but A LOT of reflection. There have been tears. Many. I'm okay with it. I will always remember this trip.

I absolutely loved this vlog Jenn. First, San Francisco is my favorite city to be in. I was there visiting just a couple of weeks ago. I haven’t been since 2018 and it was such a nostalgic feeling. Secondly, traveling alone is something I’ve always wanted to do. I love spending time with myself. I really get to take in that moment and notice things that I wouldn’t have noticed if i were in a group with my friends (but likewise i do love traveling in a group). Thank you for sharing this vlog. Got back from my 3rd solo trip yesterday, first time I did one was a couple days, then a week and now 2 months, its so freeing traveling and exploring by yourself. You can be whoever and meet whoever and do whatever you feel like, it allows you to truly be curious and observe your surroundings, to be fully in the moment. I love these videos because it reminds me that at any age we can struggle with being alone, but the more we do it the stronger we are and the more we appreciate the time we get to spend with the people we love. :)

For some reason, the conversation at Land's End reminded me of something straight out of Animal Crossing. You're enjoying the view and suddenly a new villager in your town comes along to share where they've been and where they're going. It always happens so unexpectedly. I love this so much!! I went on my first (out of state) solo trip to SF in mid November. It was one of the best trips I've ever taken!! I even romanced myself with fine dining. 😌💕
It is always the restaurants isn't it!! Those make me feel so uncomfortable, especially when the waiter asks me if I'm still waiting on someone. What I love most about doing stuff on my own is chatting with other people that are alone, these are usually the best talks❤️

I am someone who enjoys solo travelling (since 2014 when I just turned 20) and watch concerts alone and bringing myself to dates on my rest days. I can get to do whatever I want and like and do things own time own target. I get to see things people don’t get to see and I appreciate it being alone more. Hanging out with frens is fun and interactive but being alone feels more me time, independent and sometimes lonely but I’m used to it already hahaha. Bring yourself out more for self dates more often and slowly you will feel a lot comfortable being alone! Cheers and God bless!:)

During the pandemic, my friends and I checked out one of the houses on Lombard to rent, $7700/month, 3 bedroom, right smack dab in the middle of the crooked street. Things didn’t work out and we ended up not living there. Even though the street was super dead at the time due to the pandemic, we’re so glad it didn’t work it with how busy and hectic it is now! Still love the city as a whole though and glad you got to enjoy a slice of it!
it took me some time to realize how long you have been staying relevant on UA-cam and while doing it you never faked anything! Bravo!
