From a Hasidic (Ultra-orthodox) Jew, a beautiful life you sisters live. In Judaism we have no monks/nuns, for we are a Nation of priests, we all strive to live in the spirit of those who dedicate their lives to G-d. The daily prayers are very similar to our 3 daily prayers, one in the morning, one in the afternoon, and one in the evening. I've always had a love for monks/nuns. Bless you all❤
@@candacecassidy6784 it depends on which cloistered order. For example, the Discalced Carmelites retire at 10.30 p.m. and rise 4.30 a.m. or 5.10 a.m. Other orders probably 9.30 p.m. or 10.00/10.30/11.00 p,m. on average. The Trappists/Cistercians/ Carthusians retire very early and rise after midnight then have another 3 hours sleep before rising at 6 for Lauds , silent prayer then Mass etc. Theirs is much stricter than the Carmelites, in particular the Carthusians as they are cloistered monks/hermits.
Thanks for making this comment. It's nice to see dialogue about the commonalities in each person's respective love for G-d. I love the greatness and beauty of this vocation. I used to think the Lord wanted me as a Passionist, or some kind of sister/nun, but it wasn't meant to be. At first I felt discouraged by this, but then I discovered the vocation of Consecrated Virginity. I definitely feel more at peace and more joyful at the thought of being consecrated to Him in this way!

Thank you sister for this lovely video. I noticed at the end that Mother was blessing the nuns with holy water. I heard somewhere only a priest could bless with holy water. I know it's OK to bless ourselves with holy water. Could you clear this up for me. Thank you 🕊
Blessings with holy water are not restricted to the clergy. In fact, the tradition of the religious superior blessing the community with holy water at the end of the day goes back many centuries. Same with the tradition of parents blessing their children. It is also OK for the laity to bless with blessed oil -- not, of course, the holy oils consecrated by the bishop at the Chrism Mass for use in the sacraments, but simple oil such as St. Joseph oil (promoted by St. Andre Bessette) or oil a priest has blessed with a relic of a saint. Hope this helps!
@@passionistnuns Thank you sister. Sometimes I feel like blessing certain people and places with holy water and thought it might be like performing a "minor" exorcism that only an exorcist is authorized to perform. I don't want to open any doors that I am not equipped to deal with if you know what I mean. Thank you again and may you all have a blessed and joyful Easter 🕊🕯🐇
Oh yes! When I have to do something special I ask my mom to bless me. I will go to the u.s and my aunt blessed me. It is sad that many of these beautiful traditions are being lost today.
How inspirational. A practical question though: if nuns listen to a reading while eating, when does the sister assigned to read at each meal eat, herself?
If everyone did this, the Church would not be producing Christian homes and families. We should grow up seeking God's Holy Will for our lives to glorify Him as He sees fit for us. A Christian home is also holy, joyful and beautiful. God bless us all.
Im not catholic but i think that it would tons of guts and lots of courage to be able to dedicate your whole entire life to god to sacrifice everything for the sake of god it takes a very special person to be a nun,but it takes a woman who is prepared to devote their whole being to god for all eternity but mind you i could never imagine living like they do much less turn my back on the world for the rest of my life
Beautifully done! Thank you for insights! - How do you earn/ receive ithe income for your daily living? Do you have any hand work and shops, as for instance benedicine nuns? Do you receive donations as the Poor Clare nuns? Greetings from a Catholic hermit sister/ Germany
No waaaay do they receive income. They are supposed to live a poor and modest life, living off the land and donations probably for their healthcare and whatever else they would need.
@@motherhenn8850 Thank you for information! There are just a few orders who depend on donations only. Most try to earn incomes at least partially/ as much as possible.
In the novitiate, depending on which cloistered order, some do take tests based on how much he/she remembers from what she learnt during formation classes but not very often - it depends on the formators
God bless you! That chant is the opening invocation of each "hour" of the Liturgy of the Hours. The music is an adaptation of the Latin chant, arranged by our former organist Mother Catherine Marie. Here is what we are singing: O God, come to my assistance. O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen. Alleluia. Here's a link to the original Latin chant, Deus in adjutorium meum intende: gregobase.selapa.net/chant.php?id=7417
For the most part we do stay on our monastery property. We do leave the enclosure for necessary things like doctor's appointments and voting, but these trips are the exception rather than the rule.

Hmmm, the chanting of the Divine Office is similar to the Carmelites too. The work done in silence and 2x 1 hour recreation in community is similar too. The only difference is the charisma , spiritual formation and spiritually is very different - for example, the Discalced Carmelites follow a simple rule called the Primitive Rule with just a tad few rules, they study and follow the spirituality of the Carmelite Saints & Doctors of the Church such as Sts. Teresa of Jesus, John of the Cross, Therese and Edith Stein (St. Benedicta of the Cross) etc. The Passionate Order has their own rule and their own spirituality , possibly studying from Sts Paul of the Cross, Gemma Galigini, Gabriel of the Mother of Sorrows. Bible studies is also important in cloistered Monasteries/Convents.

She eats while the rest of the community does dishes!
@@passionistnuns Thought as much. Blessed Advent.
@@passionistnuns the reader assigned to the reading for the week is usually the last to eat in the refectory lol!😄
Inspiring
Respect regards
Please God may Pope Francis recognise how precious and valuable your work is, and may he leave you alone to fulfill God's will for you 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🏴
Muito linda!
This is the ultimate way of life
I love it! I think everyone should live like this. So beautiful.
I think God gave us many paths for a reason. Here's to all souls loving and forgiving each other. Peace.
Waking up at 4:30 am? That's when I go to sleep.
I wonder if 4:30am would include weekends 👌
If everyone did this, the Church would not be producing Christian homes and families. We should grow up seeking God's Holy Will for our lives to glorify Him as He sees fit for us. A Christian home is also holy, joyful and beautiful. God bless us all.
Im not catholic but i think that it would tons of guts and lots of courage to be able to dedicate your whole entire life to god to sacrifice everything for the sake of god it takes a very special person to be a nun,but it takes a woman who is prepared to devote their whole being to god for all eternity but mind you i could never imagine living like they do much less turn my back on the world for the rest of my life
Truly inspiring sisters.

The Passionists in Northern Kentucky do indeed have income. The make the hosts for Holy Communion and sell them to parishes nearby.
@@motherhenn8850 Thank you for information! There are just a few orders who depend on donations only. Most try to earn incomes at least partially/ as much as possible.
When these sisters have class, do they actually take tests on the material that they are learning or is it just spiritual learning?
In the novitiate, depending on which cloistered order, some do take tests based on how much he/she remembers from what she learnt during formation classes but not very often - it depends on the formators
Beautiful.
I would like to own one of those BIG rosaries the nuns carry! I wonder where you can purchase one?
Etsy likely
Hod Bless all of them please pray for me and my family in Jesus Name Amen 🙏 🙏💗😇👏👼🍀💜❤️💙💚💞💛💕🤲🙌👼

I'd like to know the title and lyrics of the song sang at 1:41
Also, please share a link to it if there's any.
God bless you! That chant is the opening invocation of each "hour" of the Liturgy of the Hours. The music is an adaptation of the Latin chant, arranged by our former organist Mother Catherine Marie. Here is what we are singing:
O God, come to my assistance.

Thank you 😊
Yah bless you too
I admire you ladies. Do you ever leave your convent for any reason?
For the most part we do stay on our monastery property. We do leave the enclosure for necessary things like doctor's appointments and voting, but these trips are the exception rather than the rule.
The Sister can’t leave her cellphone in her room. Wow! So modern.
The cell phone is actually our security camera monitor; the Sister carrying it is assigned to doorbell duty. A very modern twist on an ancient monastic duty! God bless you.

What is the difference from a Carmelite nun?
What were the two sisters doing at 10:03
They are bringing the Blessed Sacrament from the tabernacle in our main chapel to a smaller chapel inside the monastery.
@@passionistnuns thank you.
Wow. I thought i was crushing it by going to Mass daily 😊 This is just a whole other level. I admire the dedication and piety. Isn't there some type of way you put the faith to work and benefit others?
I believe that their prayers for humanity are potent, radiating exponentially to our Father. Peace. :-)
@@mortalclown3812 Yes, as I have studied these orders more (perpetual adoration, etc.) I agree. My church today had the Adoration of the Eucharist and I better understand the power of prayer. I am grateful for their service!
Really?
“Crushing it”? (Shaking my head).
I’m Protestant, and I like to think I’m living my faith by using my handicraft skills to make things for charity.
@@robertandhollyscorpiofan2697 It was just a joke d bag. Lighten up and keep carving!!
@@gregorythomas2674 it was a stupid joke, and calling me a name makes you look incredibly immature.
Instead of telling me to “lighten up and keep carving (keep carving? Is that more idiotic slang?),
How about you “grow up.”
Does passionist spirituality have similar progression like carmelites? From Active to simple prayer and eventually if God wills infused prayer?
