Gary Moore 50th anniversary of the Stratocaster playing Red House Hendrix cover
The video is of the band at the Rainbow in 1978 miming to a playback of of the single released from the Live and Dangerous album, recorded two years earlier at Hammersmith Odeon. This was on the occasion of the recording of the Live and Dangerous concert video, which does not feature this song, although one track from this concert, Are You Ready, did make it onto the Live and Dangerous LP.
My all-time favourite band from my Youth. I saw them every time in Sweden from 1980 until the end. This is definitely LIVE taken from the "Live And Dangerous" live album released in 1978 but recorder live in London 1976. I've seen Thin Lizzy tour many times after Phil's death with Brian Downey, Scott Gorham and Darren Wharton (on keys). The first time was with the last lineup minus Phil. On that set they had John Sykes (g) and Marco Mendoza (b) along Scott, Brian and Darren. The last Lizzy show I saw was in my hometown Gävle (Sweden) on November 25 last year when I saw Brian Downey's Alive And Dangerous.
I am not big on Thin Lizzy knowledge, other than I knew they were Irish, and they had the monstrous hit: The Boys are Back in Town. However, we live and learn, and I had never heard Rosalie, but it's a strong song; I loved it.
I felt very guiity for not including the boys are back in town
Saw them in 78 with Nazareth! Awesome concert! Thanks guys
So cool!
I love thin lizzy.... great songs
5 days does not do Ireland justice with the amount of talent that has come out that place and that includes the women.😁
I agree so hard to pick just 5 days of music
Hawkwind then Rainbow and now Thin Lizzy. I was born in 1961. Thanks for the reactions and the laughs. We need a Thin Lizzy and a Rainbow week. This clip was filmed at the Rainbow Theatre, just around the corner from my house. The Live and Dangerous concert film was recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon.🎸
Haha, you old bastard, Peter. I thought I was the oldest person here. However, me being born in 1963, makes you older. Well done on still being alive.
Cheeky young whippersnapper, 1955 here, and still getting around.😎
Really enjoyed alive and Dangerous.
The best thing I can say about Phil is he genuinely enjoyed the rock star life and even though he went way to early he had a joy to what he was doing rare in most rock stars..
best lineup could never be matched
They had their time
Great stuff, Rich.
I don’t know enough Thin Lizzy, and that was just joyous rock music.
Looking forward to the rest of the week.
thanks
What a great run of songs you have had over the last week or two. May you keep on keeping on wibbling!
Glad you like them!
its going to get better
Great! And everything you said about Thin Lizzy was very possibly correct. What a band
That sounded like the track from the Live & Dangerous album that's the way I've been playing it since the late seventies in bands I've been in that album would be one of the best live albums ever recorded one of my favourite albums of all time Bob Segar wrote a great song which Thin Lizzy made their own
Ahh, Lynott really, really liked that bass riff of 3 quarter-notes, then a heavy half note (? -- I'm not a musician!) that was more prominent towards the end of this song. Liked the song and the performance, thank you Rich!
yeah great performance
Fantastic, thank you, Saw Doctors are my fave Irish band lol 🙏🐊❤️🦉👍
Great! Just Great!
And what about the music?
chortle! @@TheThamesmen
Oooh, saving this one for tonight, you lads are always fun!
Brilliant, and I haven't heard the video yet 🥰
It's so good!
Really excited about this week, being of Irish descent and a big fan of Irish music. A very good starting point, really enjoyed this. So much music to choose from, but I'm hoping for a Horslips track this week.
Glad you enjoyed it
I agree.
Very tight band! And i will agree with the lead singer being really charismatic as well. I have to agree with George on the singer's voice, he's one of a kind for sure.
The first and second days will be great, but for Irish Week what will the turd day be?
😂🤣😂
Really enjoyed the track. My one issue for me was missing Gary Moore. So preconceived expectations affected me but listening to the track with just closing my eyes and going with the flow it was a great performance !!!
Well done.
yeah i was searching for a Gary Moore tack but the performance blew me away so I included it.
@@richardweller6914 check out thin Lizzy still in love the old whistle test. Could be a great bonus track
Great idea for a curated week! I do hope Horslips is on the playlist😁. If not, please check them out sometime - great band.
I was going to say the same thing.
👌
Always liked Thin Lizzy. Thanks. By the way, Thin Lizzy is a make up brand. Well it is in Australia. I don’t know about elsewhere
Seen them twice 1975 and 1978
I am jealous
I can't remember the order but I can guess what tomorrow is, 😊
Ladies and gentlemen- This is our curator this week - hank you very much for all the hard work Rich!
Thanks for doing this week Richard, really looking forward to the rest of it.
I always found the Moore /Gorham was the best sound.
