Bio: Leonardo Torres was raised Catholic and left the church at age 18 after being threatened to be kicked out for asking questions about the bible concerning his grandfather's death. He identified as an Atheist for 12 years and spent that time actively arguing with street preachers, witnesses and anyone else who brought up religion. At age 30, he had a strong encounter with God that made him drop his Atheist title and he became a free follower of GOD which he calls, "The Great Spirit". Taking God seriously and following Him wherever He leads him, Leonardo started this UA-cam Channel reaction to music as a "Non-Christian" musician reviewing Christian music. Through the music and the stories he began to learn more about Christ and considers himself a Student of Christ. Having been lost and now found, this channel is like a lost and found for lost sheep, Leonardo's goal is to create a safe space where God can find those who are yearning for Him.
Leonardo wants to remind followers of Christ to love one another as they were commanded. He is a man on a mission to spread the love of God to everyone that comes to this channel. Whether you come to stay or are just passing by, we pray your soul is touched by The Holy Spirit and that you are changed forever! Join us on this journey, not by subscribing but by making a commitment to allow His Love into your heart. Brothers in arms by home free will blow your mind!
Not only are they good. They are humble good natured boys who dint take themselves too seriously. They will take their faults and turn them funny
That is one of the things that I love about them. They seem like a group of guys that you can sit and have a beer with.
@@andreahamilton5947 absolutely! If you saw them in a restaurant you would never know that they were a great singing group. they just act like family. Very down to earth.
Nope you haven't seen it all yet! 😂
Time is about 4 1/2 to 5-octave range. And they are amazing in live theatre as well!
This song is done in a country reggae beat. It showcases the higher & lower ranges of both Tim Foust & Avi Kaplan. That last note of Tim is impressive with how low he goes, but more impressive is how long he sustains the note. On the "Sing Off Show" that Home Free won in 2013 Tim goes even lower on this song "Ring Of Fire" & he impressed the judges so much that they gave them a standing ovation. And Adam Rupp once again was stellar in his vocal percussion.
Tim, the Basso Profundo, has a 5 octive range.
I didn't realize this was a song on the competition. I wonder how long it was after the sing off live to the recorded version.
I love how you critic every nuance of the voices, inflections, etc. I enjoy seeing someone that has musical knowledge to add to our viewing
Tim is a Basso Prefundo. Google it.
What a wonderful ear you have.....
The better to hear Home Free with (lol)
@@LeonardoTorresMusic 😂...
This is one of the first songs I've heard from these talented guys. I'm always fascinated by how clear and clean the notes sound live. There are only a few artists who bring it to such perfection. Tim's deep tone still gives me goosebumps down my spine - LOL! Great reaction Leonardo!
Live version (2013) Tim went up two notes shy of two octaves. Insane! Live national TV competition show, too many nerves to exactly be perfect!
This was the first one I saw from HF, and the rest is pure love and appreciation!
This version featured the fabulous Avi Kaplan who was the base for Pentatonix their first 6 years.
Avi is a classically trained basso profundo and had just been offered the lead bass singer for the L.A. Opera House when the newly forming group Pentatonix call him and he went with them.
He is now a solo artist who writes 98% of his own songs. He stays in the genera of Folk, Americana Folk, country and Western.
He just released his first full length album this past spring. Has been busy touring Europe the U.S. and Canada but also managed to re-record some of the album at Sunset Sound in California. These studios are owned by Shooter Jennings, son of Waylon Jennings and Jessie Coulter. You may not be old enough to know who they were.
Here is a song from the Studio version.
Not asking you to react to it, but you might want to give it a listen.
I saw them in concert just before Christmas and they did this as an encore. Just as good, maybe better. Considered, thoughtful, polite criticism is always welcome. Otherwise, what would be the point of listening to other opinions. Have a great weekend.
Great reaction! I wish that I had a nickel for every time I've heard a reactor say, "How is that possible?" when hearing Home Free do their thing.
Geoff Castalucci from VoicePlay is awesome as well.
The first version is a collaboration with Avi Kaplan (Pentatonix bass) so yes the bass singers are showcasing. The 2nd version they are in a COMPETITION! They won
I got to see them live a few months. They sound great live. Having Chance as a second low singer really helps on this song now.
Check out Tim Foust's "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay" That'll give you Tim's range.
This is from June, 2022, so recent. ua-cam.com/video/b9CrVw2BhUs/v-deo.html They always are striving to improve, so they actually welcome critique of their technique. The Fries can be pretty rabid about them, but overall, as long as the critique isn't malicious, the fans just love that others are coming to the joy of Home Free.
That's similar to what I wanted to write!
I really like the way you compare live vs studio version!
I prefer the live vs the studio with Avi.
BTW...Tim is not just a bass, he's a basso profundo who has also stretched his vocals to tenor. Amazing
And he was the guest artist in on this song!!
And he was the guest artist in on this song!!
❤❤❤❤❤
Johnny Cash would be proud. Home Free is so talented. CK out Understand ❤️
This is Avi who sang with PTX, but went off on his own. Home Frees bass can get as low as Avi. You needs to see PTX
That was Avi Kaplan who was featured in this video. He was formerly the bass for Pentatonix, but now is a solo performer. They often perform this at their concerts. You'll notice that Avi changed his beret for a cowboy hat. About Tim...he has a five plus octave range and it's probably closer to six these days. That version was done on the Sing Off in December 2013. You may want to check out some of Tim's do-wop song where he sings all the parts, from high tenor to basement bass! I like his version of a Beach Boys song In My Room.
If you like Tim's change of pace, you should check out his Doo Wop covers on his own channel. Peace, Love!!
Great Reaction!
You are almost ready to listen to their version of the song Mayday! Can’t wait to see your review.
Watch their version of Mayday . It will show you a whole different Tim . And it's beautiful . 😉💖
If anyone gives him a link make sure it's a good one!! Lol as in sound quality
This version they hosted Avi Kaplan, the bass for Pentatonix at the time. So a campfire fun version of this song😁2basses on one song
Thanks for this reaction, made me smile. 😁. Constructive critique is never a bad thing. I’d love to see your reaction to their cover of “Man of Constant Sorrow”.
My bad, I just saw that you already did. 🫣
TIM FOUST HITS THE LOW NOTE ...... Avi grins while he does .... there ya go. jj
Avi kaplan is another one of those artists. He is constantly evolving his voice and his songs.
Tim did 5 octaves in this song.
He does have an 8 octave range
Not quite 8.
Great reaction! I love seeing reactors give
Credit where credit is due! And these guys deserve every ounce they get! They are all extremely talented and can sing any genre or song! And are just as good in person! Their harmonies are tight and will give you goosebumps! Tim, their base has a five plus octive range. And demonstrates it all of the time! But he isn’t the only one who is versatile they all are! Can’t wait to hear you do more reactions on this great group of guys!
If it isn't on the list yet, the Butts Remix is a gem and I love their version of God Bless Texas
They can all Beatbox check out 9to 5 live show 🤯🕳🐇❤️
Avi Kaplan left PTX in 2017. His own music is reallly awesome
I love this collab! Avi's solo work is stellar. I recommend you check him out strarting with "Change on the Rise", but you can't go wrong with any of his music.
Tim has a five octave range. For The Sing Off version, Home Free received a standing ovation from both the judges and the audience.
It was then Home Free realized that they had a chance to win the competition. Previously they had planned to be on a few episodes as the token country group and then return to their touring of state fairs, cruises, and occasional corporate events. They are basically very humble, down to earth guys. They never expected to win The Sing Off Their lives changed with their winning of The Sing Off.
Tim is from another planet, if you consider Texas to be another planet. Tim won singing competitions while he was n school. Texas evidently is also into the arts as well as football. The state provided him with free private singing lessons from the ninth grade until he graduated..
No doubt their performance of Ring of Fire has changed to some degree. They changed it when they had Avi as a featured singer. Since then, Chris Rupp resigned from the group to pursue individual projects. In his place is Adam Chance who sings baritone/bass and has a four octave range. Austin has said that the group's sound has changed with Chance in that it is a softer sound than before
Either way they are phenomenal.
Never apologize for stopping and backing up. It's what we live for. I also still recommend VoicePlay with their A Capella version of Carry On Wayward Son. The are the theatre kids of A Capella and they do like to showboat some, but are still very good in their own right.
I'm all for you sharing your critique. I appreciate that more than a reactor who is just a "yes-man". You are going to have people upset no matter what. For instance - Sherry Obsessed reacted to Geoff Castellucci's Blackbird and she was honest about not liking. She was promptly told she didn't know what she was talking about. But I prefer the person be honest. I like hearing what a person does or does not like about something.
Glad you enjoyed this. I had also suggested their live version of Helplessly Hoping (fan made video). No beat boxing, just harmonies. There is only one video as far as I know so it should be easy to find.
I love your reactions. You don't want the home fries getting on to you.😀 Guess you found out how dedicated we are to this group. It's your channel, so if you have something to critique then go ahead. A little criticism never hurt anyone.
Yay You did the Sing-Off version
There video where Tim Foust blow speakers
So happy to see you doing more Home Free. I have been following Home Free since I found them in February 2016. I do NOT like the recorded version with Avi in it…..they do NOT need Avi or anyone else in this one. The live version is 1000% better-in my opinion. Their collaborations with Kenny Rogers, the Oak Ridge Boys, Alabama and others are on another level. But my favorite it the five of them by themselves. Not a pentatonix fan.
Don’t know how many octaves Tim went up. But he has at least a 5 octave range. ***the live version was when they were competing on the show The Sing Off. …..and nope, you haven’t seen it all. You have only gotten started. 😂
Tim's "dragon breath" is something else. Especially considering he easely can sing up to tenor.
Funny you said Tim Foust was from Jupiter. He used to be in an acapella group called Blue Jupiter! Lol He does have a 5 octave range that is insane. I'm ok with some critiques. Some people may not though. There is one thing to keep in mind with the critiques. Home Free has been around a little over 20 years so keep in mind how old the video is. They always seem to improve on what they are capable of. They tend to push themselves to do try new things vocally. Also, now that they are independent, they don't have to do as much of the wild fluff stuff to wow us.
Time sings in five plus octaves.
You should check out Tim Faust solo. His cover of will you still love me/stay is incredible
I liked the "fluff" it was surprising because it was unexpected and it made a sad serious song lighter. I like the live version better myself.
Also, the fluff was *needed* for the competitive nature of The Sing-Off. That show was intense.
Tim can go 5 octave range. These guys are amazing.
Featuring Avi Kaplin of PTX.
Ya that end note was a bimb drop for sure
I'm sure you've heard already, but don't watch their cover of mayday until you really really know the group and their roles within the group.
Its your opinion, critique away.6
This was the song that won them The Sing off, even though it was halfway through the competition. It was such a cool interpretation, and they are all just really good musicians!
Before The Sing off, they were like a hidden gem here in Minnesota and the Midwest as they toured county fairs and corporate events, and I remember they even went to high schools to encourage students to pursue music. (The original Home Free members went to my high school several years ahead of me, but we had the same music teachers, ha!) They performed for our choirs and talked to us about how they put together a song, and decided who was going to sing what, and Adam Rupp taught us how to start beat boxing.
It's been so cool to see their success, after a lot of hard work and evolutions!
When it comes to Pentatonix you really should find the time to check them out. Their cover of Hallelujah has almost 900 million views. They also have 3 Grammys and have been nominated for another.
Tim Foust has a 5 octave range.
Avi is an exceptional Bass vocalist - he is not as gifted in Bottom notes - or for that matter three register voice talent .... but, if you love the man from Pentatonix work .... herein he is admiring Tim Foust at the end .... his eyes roll on the Low note Tim produces ! GBjj
I think the low note at the end is a G1. But the live version was keyed a little lower and sounds like an F#1.
They occasionally have a little extra fun and play around or show off a little. That live original version was to compete in the Sing Off, so you'll get some spiced up bits to score extra points and wow the crowd. If it had originated as a song in an album, they might have dialed it down just a little. But they sometimes do something flashy just for the fun of it for no particular reason.
Dave here. You said, "Just about seen it all." So wrong, Just getting started. Best cover-End of the Road, Best solo-Whan a man loves a woman, 2nd best arrangement-Mayday, My faves-One Man Band, The Broken Road. See tim faust doo wop album he does all the parts. or Austin's Bring Him Home from les mes. Enjoy. so much talent and such neat guys.
You would probably love Pentatonix version of Amazing Grace and Hallelujah. I recommend How Great Thou Art , Mayday, and Helplessly Hoping from Home Free.
REACT TO PENTATONIX
This was kinda a show off of the two bass singers.
They actually did something similar with Alabama when they did Elvira.
Note: the Sing Off was done with the original members.
Chriss Rupp left and Chance took his place.
Tim has a five plus octave range
They have a studio version of a ballad called "Colder Weather." Here's a live version that's worth looking at too. It's a cell phone recording from a concert.
ua-cam.com/video/69WhycesOaE/v-deo.html
Would love to see your reaction to Avi's song, "Change on the Rise" 😁😁😁🔥
Fun reaction hermano. Don't hold anything back. It's your opinions. Some may disagree but thats OK. I know I don't like all the same things as others.
Please react to “Take Me Home Country Roads” by Home Free. Thank you, I enjoyed your reaction.
What Austin does is not fluff at all. Tim also has a 5 octave range.
Live is so much better!
Leonardo! Love your reactions. My son and I went to see these guys live and they're just as good as their studio versions. Plus, Tim has a 6 octave range and I believe he's working to reach 7. I might be wrong on that though, not sure. They can all beatbox to some extent also.
When did you go see them. I took my two youngest (16 and 18) to see them December 21
@@mjsabie8517 We went Oct 27th in Williamsport Pa. I would go again in a heartbeat!
@@1aleckman1 agreed. I would like to see a non Christmas show.
@@mjsabie8517 they didn't do any Christmas songs here, but I on the other hand would love to go to one of their Christmas shows. They are truly talented.
I'm here to know your thoughts. I'm a fan but willing to learn.
These two versions are more contemporary than using a newer live version as suggested - but it would be interesting to see, as you mentioned, any changes they might have made. It's interesting that you liked the cymbals in this one better than in Do You Hear because this was released over a year before Do you Hear.
That phrase is "higher", so the high notes are reasonable - as well as they were responding to critiques from the judges on previous performances. Like Tim's low notes - they are occasionally used 'for show' but mostly they are used for the music.
Ok, so you asked for a recent live. This is somewhat recent, and it cracks me up because Tim really pours it on and i think he does it so he doesn’t die from boredom of singing it at every live event!
ua-cam.com/video/gE1Tj1s8uec/v-deo.html
Then there’s this where they were just like “we are not singing this one more time!
ua-cam.com/video/tOPmTeEMYBY/v-deo.html
Also, check out their audience demographic. Definitely under-appreciated. They need to be told to get off their butts. 😂😂
Which site should we use to request a song?
Have you watch the star spangled banner like never beforw
Well I don't care to hear your harsh critiques. You can't do what they do . I hope your following enjoys.
Oh my friend -- "Think I've seen it all" ........ NOPE!!! Just the tip bud, just the tip! Be Safe
Tim’s range on this one always gets new reactors, however… you ain’t heard nothing yet 😄
Home Free, the official version:
Beatboxer: Adam Rupp
Tenor: Rob Lundquist
High tenor: Austin Brown
Baritone/bass: Adam Chance(goes by Chance not to get the two Adams confused)
Bass: Tim Foust
But in reality it’s more like:
Beatboxers: 5
Tenors: 5
Baritones: at least 3
Bass: at least 2
Oh and critique is welcome as long as it’s respectful.
There’s two reasons Home Fries watch reactions, 1 to see reactors get blown away and 2 to hear their opinion on “Our” boys.
To me the lineup is:
Tenors: 5
Baritones: at least 3
Bass: at least 2
Basso profundo: 1
Beatboxers: 5
Beatboxer extraordinaire: 1
They are so amazing! 💜😃
I have an singer/artist to ask you to review her vocals. I truly believe she has the greatest voice of our modern generations. Her name is Lucy Thomas. She recorded this cover of Hallelujah at about age 16 and it is beyond impressive. ua-cam.com/video/4hjgkvuKES8/v-deo.html
She has many other covers that I think are more impressive than this cover, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on her voice and see your reaction. I was blown away
That's ok if you critique. I'm very much a fan of Home Free they are my favourite acapella band but it's not everything I hear takes my fancy. I may learn something from your critiques.
You should CK out Brothers In Arms. This showcases Tim's bass.
Tim has a five octave range.
Tim Foust the bass has a 5, octave range.
Sorry, Profundo. 5 octaves btw...
Tim has a 5 octave range !
As fans (HomeFries) we are very aware of how awesome HomeFree is and we are very proud of them but we are not thin-skinned where legitimate criticism is earned. We get defensive when HomeFree is hacked at by people who are unqualified to critique them. Give a reaction not just a pat on the head move on...we are not just here for bias confirmation. If you find something in a song that you believe could have or should have been done differently, say so and start a discussion.
Bingo! We all have a few HF songs we think fall short of the mark. Born in the USA is mine. Chance is amazing in his own right, but you can't top Springsteen in that one. So go for it!
Adam`s beat boxing is far superior on the later version and Austin`s voice has become much richer with time.
I love Home Free, and I would very much like to hear your critique. I believe that's also an important part doing reactions. Like I said before...you have a great ear...In the past you have pulled out things that I had not noticed before, which has made the songs more enjoyable for me.
Yes, maybe some fans might be upset, however, I look at it as a learning process for me; I may agree with you, I may not...onward!
Ok dear Leonardo, here is a video that will show you the heart and talent of this group of upstanding young men. It will help you understand why they have such loving and loyal fans. This happened in Kearney, Missouri. The concert was cancelled because of a huge thunderstorm. The audience was directed to shelter. It was pouring rain. The group refused a ride to the shelter and walked to it like the audience had. They decided to sing a song for them, since it was cancelled before they even started. They were all raised Christian and have amazing morals. Remember when the Hebrews didn't want to go up the mountain when God came to give Moses the 10 Commandments? It was because they were afraid of the lightning and God's voice sounded like thunder. As they sing,I will bow in humble adoration, the lightning lights up the sky,the lights blink and the thunder cracks. Adam, the beatboxer who sings in this, smiles and looks up. The boy knows his bible. I believe God spoke. How many groups would do this for their fans? This is from a cellphone recording in the middle of a storm. Enjoy!
ua-cam.com/video/SoVFPvp8Vh4/v-deo.html
Tim´s range is 5 octaves he´s working on nr.6 [ the last note he sang/growled is called his DRAGONBREATH ] since they now have Chance in the group who is a Barritone/bass with a 4 octave range [ working on nr.5] they did not remove anything from the studio version
Check out Adam Rupp's Drum Solo. Not only did Tim hit the low note.....he sustained it. He has been known to blow out speakers. Check out "How Great Thou Art" and "Go Rest High on That Mountain".
There are so many videos of this out there! They sing this at every show! Thank you ^_^
That’s Tim for ya. He has a 5 octave range so he can go super low and then sing up with the tenors. The first one featured Avi Kaplan of Pentatonix, he has a lovely voice. Tim and Adam (beatboxer) really are from other planets I think! Tim has been known to break speakers and I heard him live and his voice goes through you and rattles you and I was sitting in the mezzanine section! Home Free is known for harmonies. Try Helplessly Hoping, Auld Lang Syne (for New Years), Brothers in Arms, In the Blood.
I hope he didn't break the ice in the venue in Fargo and Mankato, i know my hearing aides are still not recovered from 3 concerts back to back. Their sing off version was awesome!.
You're a perfect example of how everyone has different opinions
Not everybody will agree with you but that's the beauty of it
What fun it is to see a new reaction to Home Free! Tim currently has a 5+ octave range.
