Description: Some even older astronomy books and maps I found: • 300 Year-Old Books (17...
This is part 2 (out of who knows how many...) of our adventure through this nearly 200 year-old astronomy atlas, "Geography of the Heavens" by Elijah Burritt, an early 19th century black smith-turned-educator.
*My even older copy of Burritt's book came in a couple days ago and I couldn't have been more pleased. It's binding almost fell apart, so I was extra careful with handling it. We look in detail at the preface and introductory essay titled "Advantages of the Study of Astronomy."

In hundreds of years are they going to refer to the 1970s to 2020s as the intro to the technological age or something? Its crazy to think how people lived in the 1800s compared to just 200 years later.. being born in early 1900s and living to 2010s must be insane, life must have changed so rapidly for them with jukebox, record players, radios, to cassette/8 track players, CD players, iPods, color tv, computers, cell phones, smart phones, modern cars, etc... its like living in a time machine

It struck me as scripture and given the date in which it’s written, that wouldn’t surprise me and I believe that word is Proverbs. I could be wrong. Proverbs Chapter 1, Verse 28: “They will call on me, but I will not answer; they will *seek me diligently* but they will not find me.” Hope this helps. It could be a coincidence.

I can tell you without a moment’s hesitation that you have the finest voice that I have ever heard for ASMR, actually one of the finest I have ever heard period. I teach music and drama at Julliard, which is a conservatory for the arts here in the United States. I share this with you because I work with actors, including voice actors, all the time. And I can tell you with a great deal of certainty that at least 90% of my voice students would KILL to have your voice. Seriously. What comes to you so effortlessly is a subject of daily intensive study and practice for many of my students. Like everyone else here, I experience ASMR, and my most powerful trigger is a whispered voice that has a beautiful timbre and texture. And that is exactly what you have. So I am absolutely thrilled to be discovering you and your fantastic content! You have a very happy and enthusiastic new subscriber!

Thanks for not wearing gloves Dry, clean hands is actually better for the books. With gloves on they are harder to grip which increases chance of dropping the books and when flicking through the books gloves can catch and nick on the paper and parts can flake off. So a little bit of oil is far less damaging to a book than dropping it and having bits flake off

Many years ago, before I even heard or discovered "ASMR," I'll listen to educational podcasts from a plethora of subjects. I'll lay in bed and listen to them on my iPod Classic. Before I'll fell asleep, they were relaxing. I did it every night. 😌 Now in this present time, I already have been listening to ASMR for awhile now. And recently, I found your channel. So in a sense, I'm going back to my initial reasons to relax and learn. It went full circle. 😌 🎧

When my great grandparents died, there were some absolutely ancient books just like this... but, like, a ton of them, and I’m sure some were simply thrown in the garbage... It’s sad to think a good, treasured book being sold cheap because of a death, but that just means it’s going to someone else who can cherish it

Took me around 10 days to finish the audio version of this video on Spotify. It just always works like a charm.
The only issue on Spotify ASMR playlist is, I sometimes wake up late into the night and he's whispering and oh God it feels absolutely sinister in that state of half asleep half awake state. But I love it.

I used to work very closely with the head of libraries for the National Trust (a heritage charity in the UK that looks after very old buildings, which includes hundreds of thousands of ancient books) and he told me to never use cotton gloves when handling books, because the cotton can snag and tear very old paper. The oils on your skin are less of a threat.
