Bio: Leonardo Torres was raised Catholic and left the church at age 18 after being threatened to be kicked out for asking questions about the bible concerning his grandfather's death. He identified as an Atheist for 12 years and spent that time actively arguing with street preachers, witnesses and anyone else who brought up religion. At age 30, he had a strong encounter with God that made him drop his Atheist title and he became a free follower of GOD which he calls, "The Great Spirit". Taking God seriously and following Him wherever He leads him, Leonardo started this UA-cam Channel reaction to music as a "Non-Christian" musician reviewing Christian music. Through the music and the stories he began to learn more about Christ and considers himself a Student of Christ. Having been lost and now found, this channel is like a lost and found for lost sheep, Leonardo's goal is to create a safe space where God can find those who are yearning for Him.
Leonardo wants to remind followers of Christ to love one another as they were commanded. He is a man on a mission to spread the love of God to everyone that comes to this channel. Whether you come to stay or are just passing by, we pray your soul is touched by The Holy Spirit and that you are changed forever! The song was originally written by Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits and was released by them in 1985 as a reaction to the Faulkland Islands War. Later, this particular arrangement was done by the Finnish Acapella group Club for Five. Home Free loved the arrangement and asked to use it to do the song. Club for Five gave them the arrangement. I love how Tim's bass is breathy, not meaty as usual but light and airy, easily bringing your mind to the idea that these are the words of a dying man.

This is a song by Dire Straits about the Falklands War in the 80’s. It is mostly guitar driven where this is voice driven. Love it. One of my favorites. Love Tim’s lows, love the echoes. Tim and Chance looked ghost like in the windows. To me they’re lost soldiers who are speaking to their fellow soldiers about war. And they loved that those men didn’t abandon them in death. So beautiful and Home Free kills it with their harmonies. Yes, we all live in the world but we all have our own experiences depending on where we grew up, who we grew up with, our interactions, etc. They just released a new one they wrote So Long Dixie. It’s beautiful too!

Brothers in Arms is a British song by Dire Straits. It"s an anti-war song written in response to the Falklands War. It's a very emotional song for the British people. The song tells about a dying soldier in the battleground speaking to his brothers in arms surrounding him as he dies. It's about the futility of war.
Your grandfather sounds like a eery wise man. No doubt the fact that you were working on a similar message on another channel as Home Free shows the spiritual connection that everyone has as your grandfather stated. The odd thing about Home Free is that there seems to s strong spiritual element to their singing.
At the same time they are just a bunch of regular guys (who are very talented.) They also are goofy cut ups in some their songs. Yet in all of their songs there is a sense of optimism and hope along with the fantastic harmonies. It makes them unique among all the other groups.
Many people have stated that Home Free kept them going during the lockdowns. In fact, Home Free kept producing songs during the lockdowns, although the members were hundreds of miles apart. They are dedicated to their art and their fans.

I think this is probably the most impressive music Home Free have ever made - the combination of the incredible harmonies and the choice of song. The video is simple - the band shots in an old warehouse near Nashville, using light effects to make the singers look like the ghosts of the soldier whose story they are telling - but that's all it needs.

I’ve been enjoying your Home Free journey, and your grandfather is a very wise man!
This is a cover of a cover. A Finnish group originally did this cover of the Dire Straits song, written about the Faulkland Island war. Home Free liked it so well they asked if they could use the arrangement. They added the echo effect in the middle, which gives those lyrics added weight, IMO.
If you’re a fan of their 5 part harmonies, I strongly recommend both Helplessly Hoping and How Great Thou Art (and get a rare chance to actually hear Adam Rupp’s singing voice instead of his beatboxing). Their cover of Listen to the Music will also have you dancing in your seat!
Welcome to the party, New Fry!

I have always loved this song by Dire Straits but think Home Free did an excellent version of this song. Tim's natural breathy bass was awesome along with Chance's smooth baritone & loved it when all the guys were doing 5 part harmonies. Who would believe humming could sound so good. They gave it a very solemn feeling. These guys are my favorite a cappella group out there.

It's also worth noting wht Home Free said about their intentions: "The meaning of “Brothers in Arms” rings true across more than just when we’re at war overseas, but when we’re fighting amongst ourselves. When political and other divisions split us, we have to take a step back and remember that we always have more in common with each other than we have that is different. And we need to see all of our fellow human beings as the brothers and sisters we are, so we can live in a more harmonious society."

Such a genius touch to show the silhouette of the fellas in front of the window. I know some see it as a "ghost"y reference but it strikes me as a reflection of the POW/MIA flag. We'll never know just how many of those met the same fate as the soldier of this song. 😥

One of my favorite songs by HF, if there is such a thing since they are ALL good. When their voices combine at the 2:23 and then continue to hit Tims low note (watch out when he lowers his hand to the floor, it's about to go down!) that is my absolute most played part over and over of any song. Yes, this version of Home Free will send shivers through your entire body! This is so emotional. Beautifully sung by Tim and Chance, but the background and harmony of Adam, Rob and Austin is also so awesome. It looks like a choir or actually a kind of church organ sounds. The harmony is perfect. The whole setting of the video is just amazing. Simple but with so many details that makes it so profound

This was released just before Veteran's Day (November 11), 2021. As others said, it is based upon the experiences of Mark Knopfler's brother during the Falkland's War. This pairs with the Memorial Day, 2021 release of "Travelin' Soldier", which they got permission to rewrite from its Vietnam War era origins to reflect the modern military experience.
