@@scottdsteeletrue but in all honesty it’s because they often come here and treat those of us who grew up here as yokels and peasants. I used to have many of them as clients and the casual destine many of them talk about native Utahans was generally offensive. It’s certainly not all of them but it’s enough.
I completely understand where you're coming from. From my experience over the last 4 years, more and more Californians are almost hesitant and/or embarrassed to say that they are from California because they a) don't buy the lies being sold in California or b) they don't want the push back or the friction that might come from the few people here that might express hate or negativety for their coming here
As a former Californian, I love Utah. Ive been here for 12 years. I hate California and will NEVER move back. I probably would have wound up either back on drugs or dead. My life was saved.
I’ve lived in Southern Utah most of my life, and it’s definitely changed a lot over the years as it’s grown. In my opinion, the only thing that’s truly gotten worse is the traffic and how poorly people seem to drive now. I think this is mostly because locals aren’t used to handling the high influx of traffic, but I could be wrong. The “Don’t California my Utah” sentiment has gotten out of hand. People blame California for everything, even when it doesn’t make sense. I think it has more to do with people liking to get into a pack mentality and blame the “others” for everything that is going wrong in their lives. I have a bunch of family that lives in California, and I have spent a few summers out in California with my Grandma. The people I have been around out there never seemed to be any better or any worse. People are people no matter where the live with the good and the bad. But that is my personal view on it.
When I was younger my mother payed $800 a month In rent I understand that inflation and natural population growth plays a roll. But growing up in this state, i won't even be able to buy a home here I'll have to leave my home and my family for any hope to be a homeowner. I saw housing prices start rising right when California started moving in.
I think it's mostly the weather. Prior to moving here Californians have the wrong idea of what our winter is really like. It only takes a few weeks in the low 20s for them to realize that maybe this isn't the place for them and make them go back!!
@@peacheedandee I don't know why people say that. I've lived in both states, and in my opinion, California drivers are far more aggressive. You get lots of street racing type behavior in southern CA. I don't see that nearly as much here. Plus, with narrow coastal roads and tons of traffic at nearly every hour of the day, driving in CA is more stressful. Utah roads are mostly all right angles and broad, and besides rush hour on I-15, things stay pretty clear.
@@UncleFetzThe freeway shoulders are narrower in Utah compared to California. Do not change your tires on the shoulders. In Utah, the most people don’t slow down for stopped car on the shoulders. Call roadside assistance
Honestly I’ve been here in a very busy retail environment in St. George for 7 months and haven’t talked to one person that regrets leaving CA outside of “the food”. If you thought you were gonna bring your BS to Utah and that everyone would embrace you with open arms, you’ve got another thing coming. Same as in TX, YOU need to adjust to the community … not the other way around. It’s common sense. And that doesn’t mean you have to change your views, it just means that nobody has any obligation to give a hoot about them. Remember… we all left CA for a reason.
Utah is great for getting experience in IT and then getting enough experience to move back or go elsewhere. My whole family lives here but I can’t really stand living here for much longer. Just getting enough experience and getting my side business off the ground then move back California.
Well you are in real estate so you support everyone moving to Utah and needing a home. 😉 Talk about Tremonton the city that has the fastest growth in Utah and all the problems it comes with for the people that already live there. There are not enough schools, the prices too high for the locals, infrastructure can’t hold up and much more. There is always good and bad, winners and losers.
Yes I'm in real estate and the people are coming here whether I share content or not... and yes I love to help those coming here and it's so fun to meet and build relationships with them and see how positive and happy they are to experience what this amazing place offers. Tremonton has grown alot yes, but it's a very small community that's just too far from most jobs and too far for most people who who move. Despite the fact that it's grown from 5,700 people to 12,500 people over the last 24 years... it's just too far for most to find a good paying job.
@@scottdsteele There must be a reason Tremonton attracts that many people and is growing much faster. Lots of people moving there work at Northrop Grumman or have a long daily commute. The better air quality and larger lots for less money are also attractive for many. They need to keep building though it’s getting enough. Enough apartments in many places in Utah.
I moved to Utah in 2019 after living in California my whole life. It was quite annoying when I asked for any advice on just random things online and when they found out I was from California, would say stuff like, "Go back to California!" I can see how people who grew up here don’t mind staying here but if you are used to living in other places that have more to offer, it would be hard to stay in Utah unless you had no choice financially.
I feel you on the connecting with people out here. I’m in Ogden and moved here from Texas and the social scene out here is extremely weird to say the least. @scottdsteele the politics are corrupt. Phil Lyman got over 60% of the delegate votes, yet Cox placed himself as the republican candidate. He collected signatures by hiring a company, signatures weren't even gathered honestly and on top of that, he failed to collect the correct amount of signatures, but this wasn't discovered until just October and ballots were already printed and out. Then there's Sean Reyes...i personally know of a certain former city council member who just won the State Auditor position who used connections to Reyes to weaponized resources from his office along with the DEQ to go after small business owners. We're also a sanctuary state now.
Hello, You know, after the last recession up to about 2014 parts of San Diego and Los Angeles were dirt cheap. I bought my three bedroom home on 3/4 of an acre 14 miles from the San Diego Airport for $119,000 . Nobody wanted it. Real Estate didn't start selling again until about 2015. . Most of these people deserve to get priced out.
I speak to them every single day and I beg to differ. Of course there are people on both sides and the majority are coming because they do align more with Utah is than what California has become
Utah is highly polluted. Worse air quality in USA in winter. Conservative politicians rile and church has a lot of power. Utah is family oriented and Californiams hate the family unit.
I get what you're saying and no...Californians do not hate the family unit. You might make the argument that those who lead the state of a California do, but I've met countless Californians and even married one and they come here because of the love of their family unit.
@@scottdsteele Yes. I lived in Cheyenne, Casper and Lander. I worked for WYDOT. I can tell you that the Evanston plow crews and the rest of I-80 want to be called by the TMC in Cheyenne ASAP when the frist flake of snow drops...lol In Utah I lived in Saratoga Springs and now Cedar City.
Californians, please leave your politics in California or stay there to experience the consequences of your ppolitics as California falls apart. Please don't turn Utah into California.
Utahns ignorance is not realizing theres lots of conservatives in California. Assuming everyone is acdemocrat is pure ignorance. NorCal eapecially is mostly republican
Exactly. Almost all of the people who reach out to me here are outspoken as to why they are moving here and it's because CA isn't working for them and doesn't align with their beliefs
California is awesome if you don't mind how expensive it can be to get the same quality of life you get somewhere else. If liberal and intrusive government is your thing and you don't mind paying a lot of taxes for little in return California is for you.
@@scottdsteele First let me correct my previous post... I regret most Californians moving here. Many of them bring their awful entitled culture, rudeness and woke ideology, they also seem to have an attitude that Utahans are inferior. I'm also a transplant but I didn't come here only to act like where I came from is better and dump on the people from here's culture, I'm obviously here because it is great and I act accordingly... If they're so adamant about Utah being inferior and California being such a great and better place then why are they here?
Good point. I'll add my perspective as I speak with and meet with people from California every single day and the vast majority of them are coming here because of what a Utah is and what California isn't and they do not fit the all too common narrative that they are trying to change Utah, or they look at a Utahns as inferior, etc
Californians have absolutely no idea what they are getting into here. Forget wages and real estate, youre in mormon country pal. 30 years later and i can tell when ive met an old school Mormon, nice to your face, bad for you privately and socially. And i like them! The families are already established. Its not just about your house and neighborhood, snow and traffic...
Many Many Utahns have little brothers so this should be very easy to understand Look at Salt lake city like the little brother of San Francisco.. SanFran is the Big brother with that.. you can look at Salt lake like little San Francisco without all the Art, music, food, scenery, ocean but definitely the money & very much so the Homosexual culture BIGTIME!
And your opinion is yours and this is what makes this country amazing. Also, the data isn't my opinion... it's fact. There are more people here who aren't than are and the numbers don't lie
People just make these videos hoping Californians stay out. It’s not working. We here we moving to Utah it’s cheaper less taxes. Better Job opportunities and college programs. Especially in southern Utah. it’s better can’t fool us 😂
I'm in no way trying to keep people out, In fact I get accused of doing the exact opposite. I help people make the move to Utah each and every day and my wife and her family have also moved here from California as well. I'm just helping people gain perspective from all angles

I get what you're saying and no...Californians do not hate the family unit. You might make the argument that those who lead the state of a California do, but I've met countless Californians and even married one and they come here because of the love of their family unit.
I agree
Winter in Utah is better then Wyoming....lol
Have you experienced winter in Wyoming? Driven I-80 in the winter when it gets shut down?
@@scottdsteele Yes. I lived in Cheyenne, Casper and Lander. I worked for WYDOT. I can tell you that the Evanston plow crews and the rest of I-80 want to be called by the TMC in Cheyenne ASAP when the frist flake of snow drops...lol In Utah I lived in Saratoga Springs and now Cedar City.
Cool, so you've experienced both.
Californians, please leave your politics in California or stay there to experience the consequences of your ppolitics as California falls apart. Please don't turn Utah into California.
I understand
Utahns ignorance is not realizing theres lots of conservatives in California. Assuming everyone is acdemocrat is pure ignorance. NorCal eapecially is mostly republican
Exactly. Almost all of the people who reach out to me here are outspoken as to why they are moving here and it's because CA isn't working for them and doesn't align with their beliefs
Definitely, stay in California. UTAH is not fancy.
Fancy?
I liked the Mormon bubble, I liked being a lil po dunk. We were happy. Now I hate driving on the main road one day a week.
I get it
California is awesome if you don't mind how expensive it can be to get the same quality of life you get somewhere else. If liberal and intrusive government is your thing and you don't mind paying a lot of taxes for little in return California is for you.
Thanks for sharing
LMAO
It's why many Californians are moving away
I regret Californians moving here too.
Why is that?
Thanks for sharing your opinion! Many others share very different opinions too
More people more problems
Correct!
Many Many Utahns have little brothers so this should be very easy to understand
Look at Salt lake city like the little brother of San Francisco.. SanFran is the Big brother with that.. you can look at Salt lake like little San Francisco without all the Art, music, food, scenery, ocean but definitely the money & very much so the Homosexual culture BIGTIME!
Please god move back i need a house that isn't 1,000,000. Keep ruining your own state.
I get it
At some point we'll all be living in vans down by the Jordan river.
@ shit man that’s the new American dream. 😂
Love the reference, not the idea that it could be partially true
It's sad
Utah sucks!!! Don't move here
Why does it suck?
@@scottdsteele He's trying to convince Californians not to move here. "It sucks here. Don't come." 😉
I know, I just like to hear more😁
Living in Utah as a non Mormon is tough, you must find your niche otherwise you will feel Isolated.
There are more people here who aren't members of the church than those who are. This narrative has gotten really tired and old at this point
@@scottdsteele that's your opinion
And your opinion is yours and this is what makes this country amazing. Also, the data isn't my opinion... it's fact. There are more people here who aren't than are and the numbers don't lie
The niche is: everyone else that doesn't matter to us. You're Mormon or government here.
That's enough of these comments
So glad I got NBA League Pass to watch my Lakers and MLB at Bat to watch my Dodgers.
I can't relate to being a Lakers fan but I'm a big Dodgers fan💥
People just make these videos hoping Californians stay out. It’s not working. We here we moving to Utah it’s cheaper less taxes. Better Job opportunities and college programs. Especially in southern Utah. it’s better can’t fool us 😂
I'm in no way trying to keep people out, In fact I get accused of doing the exact opposite. I help people make the move to Utah each and every day and my wife and her family have also moved here from California as well. I'm just helping people gain perspective from all angles
It’s the 3rd most expensive state in the US at least to buy a house in. Otherwise yes it’s much better here 😅
You're spot on!
But we don’t want you and your liberal BS especially in southern utah!
I understand and agree
