Living in Arizona is quite a unique experience because of the vastness that the state offers. From the Sonoran Desert in the south to the high country in the north all the way up towards the Four Corners east and the Grand Canyon in the west. Known as the Grand Canyon state, Arizona is diverse in many ways. The state tree is the Palo Verde, the state cactus is the Saguaro, the state bird is the Cactus wren. If you are thinking about moving to Arizona feel free to subscribe and check us out on our other channels.

It is great to have Eugene Levy narrate and show us around. 😉
Thank you. Appreciate your channel. Take care all!
I am from NY and I was in Arizona for July and August and went to Bisbee. I loved it there! I could see myself retiring there. Not busy like NY City but just as artsy and colorful.
I’m curious though; how far the nearest major hospital is?
@@Dweller415 probably in Tucson?
@@Dweller415 as close as the nearest reservation..
In Carefree, I would highly recommend the English Rose Tea Room. It's owned by a very nice brit who moved here and it's the closest thing to the real high tea you'd get in England- and I've been to England twice! :)
Omg yes it’s so cute I used to go all the time
I have met her through a friend who with her help held an afternoon tea. Learned so much from her about teas.
I believe he said “Cavecreek” not Carefree!
As a tea lover, thanks for the suggestion.
@@lionessroar8762 This is Carefree. Cave Creek is adjacent to the West and a different vibe: Old West, cowboy taverns, tourist shopping, bikers (the fun kind). I recommend the Black Mountain Cafe for breakfast in Carefree. In the Spanish Village section of the downtown circle.
Excelente video gracias, muy informativo, saludos desde la Patagonia Argentina
AZ is my home state. This makes me want to move back.
Arizona is beautiful. Born and raised here. But I have to say that the beauty is getting ruined by everyone moving here. Ppl suck straight up. So many things that once were open now are closed due to people trashing things. Please don't come to Arizona.
The area around Bisbee has some natural caves to visit, plus The old Queen underground mine tour, Tombstone, Wilcox (Rex Allen days), Dos Cabezos and an old Butterfield stage depot at Dragoon.
Yes!
Old Queen? Wow! Who knew Bisbee was so progressive! 🤣
My mother was born in DOS Cabezas I love going there just to feel closer to her beautiful place.
@@ElizabethMartinez-bb9gv It is indeed peaceful there.
Enjoyed your video and felt you did justice to these locations. I was born and raised in Nogales (1952), moved to Tucson in 1970 and still here in 2022, 70 yrs. By the way, we always pronounced Tu-ma-ca-cori not Tu-Mac-cori.
Yelp that the way I always pronounced myself, I live just a little more north in Amado Az (1990-1993). Not real big, not to small just right.
I cant believe how much show low has grown. My parents and i used to up there during the summer and spend a week or more. We also went to Springerville to vist family. Its been about 40 years ago. I still want to move to Springerville. I live in Tucson
I'm from show low and it's so sad anymore. Still love visiting but foe a short time. Too many ppl and so many new ppl who destroy the back country with their motorized vehicles 😞 I do miss how it use to be
Beside showlow being named by a turn of a card, the players were two prominent rancher of the area and the stakes was the winner would have the whole area for his ranch and the other would find a new ranching area
I love my state. I used to take an all day run from Phoenix to Parker and Lake Havasu to go swimming. Me and my pals did this usually once a month.
Looks like you missed Jerome on your list. Show Low looks like a great place to sleep - little else!
I love that in the show low part you got the part driving in and seeing the safeway!! Lol. Last big spot to fill up gas and grab groceries before visiting small towns like Greer and St Johns
I went camping with some buds from back east at the Grand Canyon over Memorial Day weekend. They thought they were coming to AZ to catch some rays, but instead it snowed.
REALLY ENJOY YOUR TOURS
Thank you very much for this wonderful tour of Arizona small towns.
I spent from 1970 till 2007 in AZ, LOVE that state….I’m near in SW CO.
Thank you. Have you ever done a video on Ajo? Very interesting history and it is a designated wildlife preserve area as well. Coyotes howling at night, Javelinas wandering the streets, amazing area close to Mexico and Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. The former famous Curley Art School, is still open, being used for housing, a pottery studio, with a wonderful small hotel, & an educational organic farming site where they give out free compost and you can volunteer. VERY small town, people are friendly. This is just a short description. There is a lot more!
Thanks for your post. I hadn't heard much about the town. Now that you list all those things, I think I might make a day trip there some weekend.
Gosh every time I travel to Arizona from California I end up in Ajo. The bakery has the most wonderful muffins and there's the most unexpected sign above the door in the dining room lol! I'm not going to give it away, the muffins are too good to not recommend 🤠
@@BillGreenAZ heck yeah it's gorgeous! I'll be back myself soon....
I spent some time in Ajo. Not to far from the border. They had some nice cabins you can rent with a swimming pool for those hot summer days. Border patrol station is a few miles south and a little bit further south is a casino.
A very beautiful place
Yes, I absolutely agree. Ajo has wonderful people and close to many nice mtb trails. Great museum as well. Weather is nice in winter.
The family and I were in Young, AZ recently. Had never been before and was a awesome little town to visit but not much for amenities. Smallest town feel I've come across while being born/raised out here in ye ol AZ.
Carefree is north of Scottsdale. I went there with my mom because she wasn't quite up to the two hour drive to Sedona. We had a very nice lunch, and there is a botanical garden where you can walk and learn about the local vegetation. One of my favorite places in Arizona 😍
Patagonia. We were there winter 2010. If it hasn't changed! High desert. Very nice.
Really enjoy your videos. It takes me back home for a short time I wish they had smellivision. LOL there's nothing like the smell of the AZ, desert after a good rain.
Thank you so much for another great video full of some great information and places I’ve never heard of thank you so much for sharing some hidden gems with us. Hugs and kisses from grandma Sandy and Debbie
I live in Tucson and I enjoy videos like this. I prefer small town living. I was in Tubac (always heard it pronounced Tu-back) a couple weeks ago. And on that subject - Tumacacori I have always heard pronounced just as it's spelled - 5 syllables with the accent on the 3rd (the one you fail to pronounce at all). But thanks for taking us around the state in your video.
Tucumcari?
@@corilia9529 No, that is New Mexico
@@corilia9529 No, that's from the movie "For a Few Dollars More" when Lee Van Cleef says "This train will stop in Tucumcari" and then pulls the emergency cord to stop the train. As the person wrote earlier, Tumacacori has 5 syllables. It's barely a town. Small stretch off U.S. 19 just south of Tubac (Tu-back). My parents lived in Tubac for over 25 years so I've been there many times. Not once have I heard either place pronounced like the narrator of this video.
Its just that so many there are sooo crazy.
The San Xavier Mission is almost 40 miles north of Tubac; Tumacacori only abour 4 miles south, so I certainly wouldn't group them all together.
Don't worry, have been here about 3to4 years planning on selling and moving on to a different part of the country in the very near future !
Bisbee, where old hippies go to finish out their days. Groovy ✌
Very interesting video, I've been to many of these little places,
but I've now discovered new ones too! I hope the pandemic will bring us back to our loved Arizona again next year
Many greetings from Bremerhaven, Germany
Take care and stay healthy 👍👍👍
Bentang alam yang menakjubkan 👍
Bisbee, an old historical town also is haunted by Welsh miners who had lived there! Also was a destination popular as Kansas City
Now it’s just haunted by drunks and nomads
I was born in Globe Arizona, raised in Prescott Arizona. Now I live in Las Vegas. I miss my home state.
Beautiful !!! Thank you !!
The Mine tour is a fun thing to do as well.
Carefree is fabulous and surroundings are beautiful as expected, great shopping not far with a variety of shopping.
Pleasant surprise to see Show Low in the list. We're headed there this fall. Now, if you were to include Clay Springs (west on 260)... :)
Can't say as Bisbee looked, two years ago, like a place for more than a day trip. The museum's worth the time, but otherwise, we saw a lot of blank windows.
Arizona is my 3rd favorite state in the Union.
Officially, a town will have a post office. Anything without a post office is considered a village, camp, outpost, etc.
I went camping in Greer with my family from Western Canada, they were surprised that somewhere in AZ could look so much like where they're from.
Arizona Highways had an edition many years ago called "The 50 states of Arizona" and there were photos from a ton of places in AZ that looked just like places in the other 49 states.
Taking this route
it the voice on this video belong to Russ? love this video
It’s @islandhoppertv
I'm surprised "Jerome, AZ" did not make the list. It's pretty unique.
Your presentation is so good Sir..l like this video...
How about something on Wickinberg and Wickinberg ranch!! I live in Wickinberg ranch and would be happy to show you around!!
Do you mean Wickenburg?
Good towns, but you mention Carefree. It is a beautiful little town north of Phoenix but the cost of living is high, not for the average retiree or common working family. Cave Creek is also in that category. That is where many celebrities, active and retired, live.
Would love to know the closest Wal-Mart or supermarket
Nice video.
Arizona dreaming,*****we do not have water!
I live in Bisbee my Whole life. And still here. Lol.
Thank you 💖
I love the desert. I wish I would have moved there and bought a house 15-20 years ago! Some places have become too expensive for me to live. I’ll prob stay in small TX/AR town and just travel. I work for airline so flying is free. Spent 30 years in CA so I miss the West! The east coast is cool too but there’s something about the desert and mountains that I love.
Show Low is the only town worth living in cuz I live there! All the other towns are too hot or filled with tweekers. Greer is nice but has basically no available real estate or stores.
I grew up in Show Low in the early 70’s and loved it. It has grown up so much but I would love to move back. I don’t remember the weather being as cold and wintery as it is gets now.
Impressive!
You Missed Meadview AZ a great little town
These old silver towns could make a comeback.
At least u people have a good country music! Which we in israel don’t got ! From one hot country to other very hot country ! Let god bless our sinnfull souls.
Do us all a favor by doing videos about any state OTHER than Arizona! The last thing we need in AZ is more people moving here. Short term visitors ( except people from California ) are always welcome.
You got that right
You're hilarious!! Too late..
@@rayb.6537 It is Aug. 2 and junior high school is back in session; shouldn't you be in class?
The person who made this video don't give a shit... Obliesly
Portal is a secret!!! Shhhhhh! Lol 😆
Have you been to Switzerland ? It looks nothing like Greer Arizona. Way Greener in Alps. And the Flora is different. Thats my Two Cents worth. lol!
How reliable is the water supply?
A lot of what you call art in Tubac is really Kitsch. Portal and Bisbee looked really nice but WAY too close to Mexico! We lived in Parker for 5 years - paradise in fall, winter and early spring but Hell fire and brimstone in the summer.
Now called the Colorado trickle.....
It's definitely not hitting 32 in Greer when Havasu is hitting 114
Yes it does you don't know what you're talking about.
@@mikethebike7372 a quick look at the weather says otherwise but ok
@@mikethebike7372 generally speaking Havasu is hitting 114 in warmest summer months just like the valley. Greer has very similar weather to flag which generally speaking is seeing highs in the 80s or so and lows in the 50s overnight. If Greer was going down to freezing at night in the middle of summer it's be all over the news. I personally know people with cabins over there and they'd never shut up about it
@@joshbrown284 silly thing to argue about. 30's there is not the norm nor is 121 deg at Havasu but it happens. Live in Sierra Vista for years , early May it was over 100 deg for 2 weeks before summer started. Last 2 summer's no monsoon this summer most rain since 1954. We were camping at Big Lake not far from Greer weekend before Memorial day and it was one night in the 30's the next day over 100 at my house and I'm at 5000'. One thing you can count on with AZ weather , it's unpredictable.
@@mikethebike7372 wait you're the one that came to my comment saying that I didn't know what I'm talking about and now that you clearly do know that I know what I'm talking about you want to say it's a silly thing to argue and I don't know where you got 121° from he said 114 and 114 in Havasu is definitely perfectly normal and if it's 114 in Havasu during the day it absolutely is not 32° in Greer on that same day
ShowLow … a 3,000-year-old Xoloitzcuintli (pronounced "show-low-eats-QUEENT-lee"), which is an ancient Aztec dog of the gods which legend says can move between the land of the living and the dead. This dog is a pet you can own to this very day. … as opposed to a card game. 😂
Bisby, the 1st town shown, does look like a ghost town -- No people on the sidewalks. Are there some corporate big box stores near by?
Bisbee has a Safeway, Dollar General, ACE , and other stores, with shuttle busses taking residence places, and great resturants. It is not a ghost town.
I been to Bisbee and for some reason you don't see people walking much. Could be the heat or severe hills. It's really not that big of a deal place. Green valley south of Tucson is better. So is Oracle or Globe or Winslow. Just sayin.
Do you actually go to these communities or just make stuff up?
Cave Creek which us right next door to Carefree is much more inexpensive.
Indigenous to AZ, from AZ, finally left home to move outa state. AZ is nice to visit, sucks to live there. It's the carcinogenic water, high bills, high cost of living, high property crime, have to pay to have your home scorpion proofed and still they somehow get in, firewoods expensive, summers too hot, winters too cold, break down on roadside often no cell signal to call help-especially in mountains, no good jobs so unless you're a rich retiree or trust fund baby there's no income, people will steal the plumbing pipes outa your home when you go out, living in AZ isn't like just visiting. Unless you're a rich retiree you won't wanna permanently move to AZ. People think grass greener on other side find out hard way moving to AZ then wanna leave. Best decision was leaving AZ. Miss family but don't miss AZ.
Where did you move to? I love Arizona compared to a lot of other places I've lived.
Before you know it.. Az will suck to live in ... To many people moving here is causing all the properties to go up... And changing all the natural attractions to money making establishments... I can remember when you could drive to the salt river and park anywhere a long it and even camp out and it didn't cost nothing... Now all fenced off and paved and limited parking... The same with Oak Creek in Sedona.. everything is just getting more expensive here and all these people moving here just keeps making it worse...
Welcome to Arizona
NOW GO HOME!!!!
Same for Colorado sucks here now
I lived in Tucson for close to 20 years, I miss the beauty of the desert.
Arizona is one of the most diverse states we have.

@@AslanKyoya1776 I agree!
My family used to have a cabin in Pinetop Lakeside (near Show Low) and I went up there every year. I miss that place...
You should realize that your exposure can be detrimental. The country is full of urban refugees.
I have lived in the White Mountains my whole life. When I do my shopping I travel half an hour into Show Low. I love all the shots taken. It was awesome seeing my home like that.
Bisbee is also the county seat of Cochise County
I live in the White Mountains (Vernon) summertime it is a bikers dream. The motorcycle riding from Strawberry/Pine area through Payson, Show low, Greer and Alpine areas is just amazing. Ever get a chance to ride out here, take it.
I like Show Low. I have a few friends that just moved there about 6 months ago. Show Low has very friendly people and the weather is great, along with the price of property. The property tax is pretty cheap also. My friend purchased 5 acres and he paid $21,000 for it, so just over 4000 an acre and his property tax is about $250 a year. There was electric installed at the street and a electrical pole and box already installed on his property. He is having a septic tank installed and also a 2000 gallon water tank installed . He had 2 loads of pea gravel delivered when I was there and had it spread around for his driveway. He also ordered a 2 room 1100 sf Amish cabin, that cost him $30,000 plus appliances and he also ordered a 700 sf shed/workshop from the same place. He also purchased a large aluminum carport to park his motorhome under along with his car and a few toys. He is also having 3 slabs of concrete poured next April for the cabin, shed and carport. When its all said and done he is going to be in it at about $95,000 , less than $100,000. That's awesome. I think I'm going to do the same thing. If anyone is thinking about purchasing property, they better do it soon, the longer you wait the more expensive it will be. Do it before the SHTF, because it's coming and if you wait until that happens you will be Shit out of luck. Take care Brother. Hawk out!!

I love the whole feel of Arizona, not every part beautiful, but some wonderful things of beauty. Some of family went out to Cottonwood and Jerome in the 1920's and stayed. Prescott is a nice town. Tucson a great little city.
Surprised that Jerome wasn’t on the list, but then again, Arizona has so much to choose from.
My favorite town in Arizona.
Oh, the state that has the most voter controversies every friggen year.
The last 15 years of my work as a P. I. I would go to Arizona for a month and visit most of the 7 towns. I like Sedona the best, due to the beautiful red rocks. The entire area is red rock, and the hiking is wonderful. One time I was maybe 1 mile from Sedona hiking around and decided to sit and just look at the beauty and rest. Around 15 min later I heard a noise to my left, and when I looked there was a deer standing 40 to 50 feet from me. We stared at each other for awhile then she ate some grass. When she finished, she looked at me again, then just walked off. The beauty of Arizona is hard to describe, but if you visit there, you'll go back again, and again. I'm moving to a rather small town on the first of September 1, 2021.
Welcome! I, too, moved to Arizona on September 1st, 2021. I moved to be closer to my family. Cheers!

FYI, Cienega Springs is pronounced "see-EN-eh-guh," NOT siuh-Nay=guh.
I don't think he said Tumacacori right either. 😕

i really like the Radio Station from Tubac... KTBX 98.1, almost no commercials ever... just one song after another of hits to B side songs you havent heard in decades ... sometimes they play a commercial or PSA on Fridays around noon but not every Friday... the story behind the radio station is something you might consider doing
I agree Great songs from the past.
I live in Tucson, AZ (all my life) I LOVE TUBAC, AZ. I've been to Show Low, AZ and Greer, AZ and love both. Bisbee is great. Another place that he didn't mention is Patagonia, AZ. It's very small, but cute.
Have you visited Jerome? That's another must see for small AZ places!!
I was in Greer a few weeks ago and the weather was absolutely amazing. Definitely worth checking out if you want to escape triple digits for the weekend.
I would go to Greer/Big Lake area 30 years ago. It's a beautiful place!!!
The mission south of Tubac is actually pronounced TOO-mah-COCK-ah-ree (Tumacacari). Sorry you missed the picturesque historic cemetery on the north side of the village (sign reads “Cementery”), dating back to late 1800’s.
I noticed that, too. It is spelled, however, Tumacacori, but you are absolutely right about the pronunciation. I was looking to see if anyone else commented on that.
I just came across your channel and I really like the small town videos. I lived in Tucson from 1994 to 2000 and really loved the area. Although, I went back 10 years ago to visit some friends and I couldn't believe that parts of town where I used to eat and shop was totally closed down along with most of the mom & pop stores that I used to shop. While living there, I have visited some of the small towns (Tombstone, Bisbee, Douglas, Sierra Vista, Flagstaff, Oro Valley, and around the Phoenix area. I am Planning a cross country trip on horse back for next year and wasn't sure if I wanted to add Arizona on the trip, but after viewing your channel on small towns, I'm thinking about reconsidering. I have really enjoyed your videos and hope there will be more to come.
My brother lives in Tucson and has for years since 1990 when he attended University of AZ. I use to go there and visit with them. I went back in 2020 for thanksgiving. Thanks to Covid a lot places were boarded up, the Campus was a ghost town, and the homeless have set up camps in the riverbeds. His adult children moved away as there are no real job opportunities there anymore. Too bad.
You better consider water sources. Colorado River, Lake Mead is also drying up. Land owners aren't really friendly sharing their land and water. Watch the movie/docu show "Unbranded."
Boy your butt is going to be sore
Lived in Az for almost 70 years and will say it has become a mini California.

My great grandfather came out here after he and my great grandmother emigrated from Finland. They had a homestead in the UP, but the West drew him. He made friends with the Earps, Tom Mix, Annie Oakley, and Wild Bill. He wanted my ggm to resettle out here, but she said no, she was staying in Michigan. It reminded her of home. Then my parents moved out here in the early 50's, to Tucson. They had 5 kids then (I'm the youngest of 8). But they ended up returning to Wisconsin after a year. One of my brothers, during his rving days, stayed in Apache Junction for 2- 3 months every year. And now, my husband and I moved our family out here several years ago. I love it here.
Liar
Born and Raised in AZ. Surprised you didn't include Williams, Chino valley, Flagstaff, Prescott valley, Strawberry, oak Creek, Payson or Jerome.
Loved Williams so much, we left the heat and traffic of the Phoenix valley and moved there. "Gateway to the Grand Canyon", Kaibab National Forest with Ponderosa Pines, 4 seasons... it's heaven on earth!
I found Yarnell, and Peeples neat too. I did a motorcycle loop from New River, to Wickenburg, Congress, Yarnell, Peeples Valley, Prescott, Jerome, Cottonwood, Sedona. Flagstaff, down Lake Marys road, Happy Jack, Strawberry, Pine, Payson, down to Fountain Hills. I was pretty blah by then so cut over to 101, to I-17 back to new river. That was just as fun as riding my dual sport from Cordes Lakes out bloody basin road . I went the Sheep Bridge, the rode down to Carefree. Through Cavecreek then back to New River.
I've explored Bouse through Swansea to back side of Lake Alamo.
Arizona has much to see!
What about flagstaff, Prescott and Payson are hidden though?? They are small but Flagstaff is a HUGE college town and ROUTE 66 (the most famous and iconic route in all of our country) GOES RIGHT THROUGH IT and Prescott and Payson are the two second most popular cities for az locals to visit for vacation or a “day up north”
Strawberry is hella low key. They hardly have internet there!

Greer is like the Swiss Alps, are you kidding me. It's high desert, dry and gets very little snow. Residents don't want people around.
Love Arizona but for retirement, especially in the Phoenix area, I see a major water supply issue. Also, Phoenix has become so crowded and congested. I love the hiking all over AZ.
I'd have to disagree.
People in California call Phoenix LA east
Check the local news as of March 2023 regarding the water situation. Dismal.
Patagonia is well worth a look. 4,000 ft. elevation, population
Parker, Arizona… The CA side is withered and the AZ side is jumping, why is that… I wonder, Hmmm. I guess each side is just a reflection of the parties that run the particular state.
