    Considering moving to Utah next year. Coming from kentucky, but I'm originally from upstate NY. We love kentucky very much but it doesn't have a very good economy. It is in the top 10 worst state budgets. Winter is no problem for me, the wife and I are familiar with 4 ft of snow and a 4 month winter. We are very outdoors kind people. And we don't engage in consumerism to the level of most people. Frugal is the word of the day in my house. We are homeschoolers and that is why we left NY. That and the governor came on tv to inform conservatives that we aren't welcome in NY. So when covid lock downs started we left for a more Christian conservative state. Kentucky is almost perfect but it not fiscally responsible. I will miss the Daniel boone national forest and the mammoth caves but I think utah offers good substitute.

    People got lucky with money and started building apartment complexes to overcharge and make even more money. I guarantee these people don't wear ties when they conduct business. Not wearing a tie states, "I'm so successful that I no longer have to earn someone's trust. I will make money no matter what I do or what people think of me."

    Absolutely not planning to move to Utah, I live in the Netherlands, in Europe. But it was nice to learn a bit about the state and its climate. Are you familiar with the term apparent temperature? Because that explains the differences in diverse environments. Nice to know that in Utah the shops are closed on Sunday. That’s also the case in my country and in Germany. And I think that’s a good thing. One day in the week that the people come to rest and can be together.

    Oh .. be sure to let people know that when a bad earthquake happens the valley will experience liquification .. meaning the water table will rise and cause all the land to become like sand at a beach - mobile and like jello in an earthquake .. all those building in the valley will topple, imagine the devastation. Lived here for decades and the dry air is no joke. I get eczema every year, and my father who was in Tennessee for 16 years just moved back this year and get nose bleeds daily. I just bought 3 humidifiers to help. Our air quality the last few years hasn't been bad because of the rain we've had, but it's been bad in past years. Our mountains and lakes though are the best, and if you come here, DON'T try and change us. Assimilate into Utah and you will love it.

    Also if you can't handle the unfortunate fact of inactivity within the church and religion in general then you may not want to be here. Lots of geeat people here just have fallen off the path. Satan has gotren a hold on people here too and if your beliefs arent strong you will be lost. An opportunity for missionary work for sure. I was born in Provo, but raised in Vegas. I’m 37. Boy was I wrong I would get away for Californiaism. Vegas is just bad in the outer city because all the inner city kind of emotionally pollutes everyone where most people are bitter about god knows what. Since the world misbehaves on the strip. I already seen and heard a lot of things like Las Vegas plans a bullet train from to L.A. and after seeing the comments, “don’t move here”, it’s going to grow faster once that train is established. I’ve also seen a pattern with where big cities grow then the smaller ones follow, once it reaches a breaking point it’s the same thing. You kinda have to plan that effect wherever you live honestly. I studied city planning, history, resource maps, and territory maps, though what I do see in the next 20 years is value of all this stuff world wide is going to plummet cause there will be less able bodies workers cause people are just not having kids or sustaining marriage. If I was a developer I wouldn’t see the investment which explains the poor built new homes I see. My mother just moved into one and the water heater sucks and Vegas is hot. I see a lot of things that go on here and I honestly think instant gratification is the complete wrong way to go. I lived in the middle of the city so it’s middle density zoning from the feel and already seeing upgrades. I mean I’m in Taylorsville very close to Murray. If I had money now I wouldn’t invest in land or property 20 years later you might be broke. But meh also have to take in account for the wars so people will do what they will do I suppose. There is something’s. Like about Utah I like and some things I don’t. I did some neighbor states driving in May, and still bumped into former Californian residents. The smaller cities is nice, I just can’t afford it. I see those growing in the next 10 years, but growth is not my interest at the moment. It’s paying attention to political environment cause where things are heading is uncertain in a lot of ways but I do see the outcomes and it’s not appealing. I honestly recommend spend money, but not fortunes anywhere in the world right now. I would be investing in a balanced life more than anything cause later down the road a risky risk could be your complete downfall. San Fransisco is no joke, there’s is a reason why what’s going on there is going. People are trapped and some chose the only way out because there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Do not trap yourself because you or someone said it was a good idea. Visit locations and observe the future of those locations that’s it. The world doesn’t have money right now and it’s only to get worse before it gets better. If you have money now I’d figure out to create more jobs than profit cause it’s not pretty for wealthy and that could be 5 years.

    My water pressure has dropped to a trickle, and traffic has become horrendous. They are building horrible condo complexes and apartments everywhere because housing is insufficient for the influx. Who wants to lived in cramped, little boxes? That’s what waits for you if you come! Our beautiful, spacious building lots and open spaces are ruined. Our conservative values are being diluted and the policies that keep us safe and free are being diluted. Please stop moving to Utah! Real Estate brokers are putting their own bank accounts above our happy lifestyle conditions.

    • @scottdsteele
      @scottdsteele 2 дні тому

      Judith, i do not put my bank account above our lifestyle conditions... you would know that if you knew me. Your comment is coming from a place of scarcity and a closed fist where you do not want to share all that Utah offers. And guess what... people are moving here regardless because in this, the greatest nation on the world, we have the right to move and live wherever we'd like. Neither you nor I get to wave our arms and tell people to leave and over sensationalizing something like "your water pressure has dropped to a trickle" is just not going stop people from moving here and trying to do so is just negativity. I can assure you that there are more people who have moved here that appreciate this great state than many who have called it home their entire life and there is nothing wrong with sharing it because we're going to anyways. Most people who move here find it much less crowded, more peaceful, more beautiful and full of a better energy and a higher purpose from where they came. What you focus on expands and you get to focus on the light (positive) or you can focus on the dark (negative)... whatever you choose, you'll find more of.

    I love living in a conservative state. I'm a conservative so it is great to have community here. Im also a homeschooling mother of six who gave up a lucrative nursing career after 15 years to stay at home and i LOVE utah. The state is incredibly kids friendly. There are free splash pads all summer. Pools and beaches everywhere. Museums, indoor playgrounds, beautiful parks.... Alaska was stunning incredible place to live but there were bears and moose everywhere and literally NOTHING for kids that wasnt either incredible expensive or super dangerous because of the wildlife.

    I will say as a Utah born and bred even though I lived out of state before a few times we have by far the worst drivers some of that's due to people from out of state cuz they don't know how to drive here other ones have to do with people that are from here so it's kind of split but we do have the worst drivers

    Of the many issues with Utah, the biggest is that the mormons have (intentionally or not) disincentivised others from moving there, despite its beauty. This has created a strucutral advantage for those incumbants by keeping prices and taxes lower, but hopefully over time they will be dwarfed by a more balanced population mix so all can truly enjoy. It will still benefit those people who get priced out if they can sell for much higher, but at the end of the day, economics will always win out. Reminds me alot of El Paso, TX, only colder, and a completely different population mix that also deters others due to the extremes their as well. In general, people dont like to go where they feel they stand out like a sore thumb and can' find a way to fit into the society.

      I'm sorry that home prices are what they are, and i cannot control that. There are homes in many of the areas that I've mentioned as places that I would move to that have homes that are at or below the median home price here. The exception of course is Park City.

    How are Utah Builders doing with paying out on Buyer’s REA? In AZ some builders refuse to pay REA which leaves it to the buyer

      The builders in Utah know that 70% of the homes that they build and sell are sold by Realtors, so they see the value in working with us, rather than against us

    I’ve lived here nearly my whole life and I can’t stand the unconstitutional politics that only serve the rich. Good luck owning a small business. Plus it would be nice if certain people could maybe be more kind, less judgy, then this state would be great. I don’t find the people to be very loving here unless you are part of the in group. I lived in Las Vegas and found the people way nicer there. They don’t care about their homeless in Utah. They don’t care that there is no affordable housing. Utah is a horrible state for veterans too. Do your research before moving here, otherwise you are in for a huge shock. It’s not all rainbows and butterflies like this guy is saying. I find the people to be quite rude honestly, especially if you are from out of state. Also if you have an out of state license plate you are going to get pulled over way more, and probably even arrested. Utah loves to make money off of pulling people over from other states and arresting them so they can get money out of them.

      Sarah, thank you so much for commenting. This comment is however, incredibly negative and of this is the way that someone thinks, this is precisely what they will find here... or anywhere for that matter. What you focus on expands and if you choose to focus on everything that is negative, all you'll ever find is more negative. No, it's not perfect here, but unconstitutional politics? You cannot start or own a small business here? I could go on but my point is made and I want all those who read my comments here to know. I wish you the best and it really sounds like Utah isn't for you at all

      Very true Sarah! Sometimes people have to walk in your shoes to understand what you have went through and the reason you are saying what you are saying! Utah is a beautiful state. When it’s negative you’ve experienced it sort of leaves a bad aftertaste!

      @@scottdsteele I'm fully aware of high vibe thoughts and how they affect a person. However, I'm also fully aware of honesty and how that affects a person. You are not being one hundred percent honest about Utah, because you profit off of it. If Utah was high vibe I'd be saying it's high vibe. However, when Utah has the same problems as everywhere else, or even more problems, I'm going to call it like it is. I have hundreds of family members who live in Utah, and if I didn't, I'd never return to this state. Even mormons don't like this place because other mormons are judgy and rude. If you like being judged. If you like to pay more for your food, housing, water, electricity and cost of living then go ahead and move to this beautiful, outdoor haven, overpriced, horrible judgy mess.

    • @scottdsteele
      @scottdsteele 6 днів тому

      This is precisely my point. What you're saying is just negativety and it's everywhere. They're is no such thing as a perfect place, and when someone says things that are just false because they are coming from their negative feelings surrounding a topic, it doesn't make the facts irrelevant. The truth is still the truth. When you say that mormons don't like it here, that's so completely wrong. Some mormons, yes.... all of them, no. Additionally, the cost of water and utilities here are nearly the lowest in the nation. We can't use our feelings to replace facts.

    I have been here for over thirty years and I plan to leave as soon as I can. If you are LDS and a single parent, do not move to Provo or Orem. Any small town here will be very prejudiced. I moved here when my daughter was only six, and the amount of prejudice was so harmful and hurtful. Fortunately, as he says, the Mormons are becoming a minority. The prejudice toward anyone different in Utah is still prevalent. Fortunately, I grew up and left the church. It is becoming more and more diverse everyday, thank goodness. Do not drink the water, it is full of minerals and Utah is one of the states with the highest kidney stones and gal-stones because of the high mineral content in the drinking water. I have been drinking filtered water for as long as I’ve lived here. (I refill bottles) The wages are very low, the taxes are high, gas is also very high. Housing is extremely high here. The wages do not balance with housing. Make sure that you give yourself time to explore the beautiful surroundings. Yes, it is very beautiful here, make sure you get out. The air quality is horrible, it is a true smog! Have an air filter in your home, also have a humidifier. Yes, when it comes to being a conservative state, that is Utah. I am constantly astounded at the ignorance here. For a state that has many great colleges and universities, you will be stunned at the ignorant and uneducated people here. It needs to change and I would love to see it change a lot. The Mormon values are not what they seem, it is all about making people followers, hive minded led. We need more open and free thinking people here. Please come change this place! If I had it to do over again, I would never have moved here.
