Great video. I built my exhaust backwards. I started with the GWR Helmholtz Race single on a stock manifold and midpipe. Then I went ahead and did the GWR 1.8 ceramic coated header and a 4" Helmholtz midpipe later on. I can swap a muffler or a midpipe and not lose the Helmholtz effect. It's tuned and loud and I love how my car sounds, but it does have it's mysteries. I've had the sound cut completely out a few times on me while running high octane fuel at higher RPM's, no one can explain it. No damage to anything, no exhaust leaks, the sound just disappears. Turn it off and back on again and the sound is back. It's the weirdest thing. I think it has to do with the exhaust gas flow, but I'd be happy to hear what others think.
Exactly like what? There's lots of different clips in this video. If you have a muffler delete, I wouldn't add anything else until you put a muffler back on tbh
Cant wait for that turbo kit! Kraken will sell you a turbo manifold with inconel studs and a downpipe for $1100. The community so badly needs someone to document it. It's the same manifold and downpipe as the Fab9 GT Turbo kit. Favorite exhaust setup: Kraken turbo manifold and downpipe: $1100 2871 turbo: $1300 (or $600 Chinacharger) Oil and water lines $200 CX Racing intercooler: $400 Miscellaneous intercooler pipes and fittings $300 Battery relocate $200 Turbosmart BOV: $300
I can't thank you enough for this vid. I've been eyeing the Goodwin sports single for a couple years now I was worried it would be too obnoxiously loud. My NC's mostly stock except for a Short ram intake
Ive got a header and the RoadtserSport 2 outlet. It's pretty subdued. A stock John Cooper Works Mini sounds crazier stock. Now going to a catless midpipe without the resonator would be a drone disaster.
GWR 1.8" Max Power ceramic coated header, stock mid-pipe with new O2 bungs welded in (one before cat and one after), Roadster Sport SuperQ Muffler. Stock 2.0l 6 speed NC1. I am in my late 50s and I don't want anything too loud. I can cruise along at highway speeds or around town and it is never obtrusive. However, once I put the boot into it on a winding road, the noise level increases and I think it sounds great. The header was a fairly recent addition and I am amazed at how much more power the car seems to have. It revs out more easily and has more go right across the rev range. Just what I was after for a bolt on upgrade.
We had a pretty similar progression. I also tried the ISR muffler Delete (mine was such an old version that it still had the old brand name “ISIS” on it 😂). I tried that with the Goodwin Max catless header and a fully straight Racing Beat midpipe… I made it down the street and back before swapping back lol.
I have the FAB9 GT turbo kit with the tomei axleback, a stock midpipe, and the tomei axleback. Sounds amazing to me, definitely very loud. Big backfires and pops and crackles.
I have the following on my 2012 6MT PRHT and love it: GWR RoadsterSport Max Power ceramic-coated 1.6 (cat-less) header GWR RoadsterSport Helmholtz mid-pipe GWR Super-Q Exhaust I also did an Ecutek RaceROM tune with 93 octane. It has a nice sporty exhaust note at idle and does get a bit loader when I step on the gas but otherwise don't get the drone at cruise speed. I highly recommend it.
Nice vid man. On my 2008 PRHT I have a GWR Street Header (w/ cat), OE mid pipe (w/ gutted cat & OE resonator), and GWR Super Q Muffler (have not tried w/ baffles). Although having the AEM CAI really completes the sound by enhancing intake and motor sound quite a bit. Sounds amazing to my ears, deep with minimal drone and plenty of grunt. Also, has a hint of raspy when accelerating hard.
Gooodwin 1.8" header, stock midpipe, Roadster Sport II. I've got a 2.5" straight midpipe, but I'm going to get a 5" Magnaflow cat welded in with a 20" resonator from Vibrant. Too much drone for me without a resonator, and on a convertible I like a catalytic converter.
I've got a Goodwin Street Catted header, Helmholtz Midpipe (4 inch cat), and a Roadstersport II Dual tip muffler. It's been an amazing exhaust setup, and I don't plan on changing it, other than maybe for a louder muffler at some point.
Also, my current setup: -Roadstersport 1.8 Catless Header -OBX Dual-Resonated catless Midpipe -Custom Axle-back based on a Goodwin helmholtz Race-single design…with Vibrant Ultra-quiet resonator and a 4” blast tip. Sounds killer, but definitely louder than most would prefer.
I got the Cobalt twin pipe, I love it. Growls and aggressive cold start without being an obnoxious neighbor. Recorded my first cold start here ua-cam.com/video/J8gIO3KmtjI/v-deo.htmlsi=yunv0wqpCaG6eY67
I liked the sound clip with the RSII best. My setup is a tuned 2.0, 1.6" long tube header, matching 2.5" mid pipe with 5" high flow cat and resonator deleted (big mistake to delete, drone), into a Cobalt muffler. ua-cam.com/video/dS7Ht27p194/v-deo.html
This is the best NC Miata exhaust comparison video out there. It helps you have experienced all these options.
Yea it's been super fun revisiting all the different sounds. I need to experience turbo sounds now. Thanks man!

I have a stock Miata. But have done a muffler delete. What would u recommend to make it sound exactly like this. It sounds beautiful

I run a Tomei axle back with a Goodwin 1.8 header. Sounds crazy
Jackson , I'm liking the last one......thumbs up!!
Thanks!

Does the ISR Circuit Spec cause a CEL?

Goodwin Race single sounds amazing with stock Midpipe and header. The ISR Muffler Delete also sounds super good with stock header and midpipe.

You should really get a tune with that header and you'll be even more surprised
I just got a mazdaspeed exhaust for my NC
Solid choice. Hang onto it, hard to find parts!

That's a solid set up!
Yonaka axle back exhaust with the high flow midpipe from Goodwyn racing.
Nice! I'll have to check it out

You need to try the BBR GT back box and the IL sports dual muffler setup.

i am running obx header + amuse r1 titan + mid resonator delete
I haven't heard of that muffler before, I'll have to look!
@@ColoredinLight very good sound

Thanks for the video , there's barely any video about the cobalt , sounds good for the price
