    I run a 37" tire with the Mopar reinforcement and oversize tire carrier bracket with no problems. You could not do that with a JK, but the JL they used magnesium for the rear door interior to make it stronger and lighter weight. Good video.

    Hey, thanks for the video. I just installed mine last night. I ended up taking an angle grinder to my OEM tire carrier and cut the camera housing out of it. I cleaned up the edges and painted the bare metal and was able to place it back over the camera. If you have a thick wheel your studs may not be long enough to do this, but now I have some protection back over my camera, which is very hand when trying to lift a 100+ lb spare back up onto a lifted Jeep.

    You can reuse the factor camera cover/plate. Just cut everything that was behind the stud stock plate off, then mount the plastic and aluminum camera housing on the stud plate between the warn mounting surface and your spare. The stock aluminum plate/camera cover takes us about 1/4" of stud threads.

    I like that you added a frame mounted tire carrier . . . any particular reason for the full width bumper as opposed to a shorty? I'd be interested to know what the weight difference the new bumper/tire carrier added over the stock bumper. I'm anxiously watching you're build while my EcoDiesel order waits for the assembly line to re-open . . .

    • @Casey250
      @Casey250  4 роки тому +1

      I guess it could be considered more of a frame mount. I went full width because its legal and wanted to see how it did with larger tires, but I also don't see any reason I cannot remove the bumper and run this carrier on the frame rails and add a couple tow hooks for a really minimal setup ;) As for weight the bumper felt similar to the stock steel, so the added weight would mostly be from the arm.

    Good video. Some things to know: The socket size called out in the video is too small. Its a standard size, not metric, and its bigger. I forget the real size at this point. The design of this bumper is pretty good but def. not perfect. It rattles in two places. There is way too much "play" around the thick rubber washers on that small adjustable arm, and it rattles like crazy, so I stacked up a bunch of washers around it to make it tight. That worked well. The worst noises were coming from where the spare tire post goes into the square receiver. It has a bolt you tighten down to hold it but that is way too small, and there's too much slop, kind of like all trailer hitches. So, I put cold shrink around the square tube and that make things super tight, and now it does not make noise. Finally there's the camera. This kit pretty much leaves out a decent provision for the camera, so I just made my own with parts from my other spare tire carrier and cold shrink again. I am happy overall with the bumper however. It looks great, and the people I know who have other brands have noise issues as well.

    Hey Casey, I am planning on ordering the Warn rear bumper with the spare bumper mount. How do you like it? I have rear sensors so I was wondering if you had them on your rig? Any issue or concerns? I am getting the lift and putting 37's on my diesel. I have been waiting for the AEV rear bumper, but after saying it was going to be release in August and once again they failed to release it I have decided to spend my money on a Warn Bumper.

      No complaints. I really like it. No squeeks or rattles. It has holes for sensors (I dont have sensors so I can't speak to how well they work). I would recommend not putting the license plate on the side and get an alternate mount for in the middle of the spare tire as my plate hit my body and scratched it but the mount is removable. I also prefer the plate on the spare tire.
