- Just a quick, no commentary preview of the Rugged Ridge Spartacus tire carrier and hinge. Super easy install and so far it seems really solid, however I didnt install the 35 inch tire on the old tire carrier, i waited for this to properly install everything, so I cant say it fixed any issues.
Looks good! My question is , does the Rugged Ridge tire carrier require that you move the third brake light to the new location or is that a separate thing you did? I am planning on replacing my rear bumper with one that doesn't have a place for the license plate and my plan was to move it in front of the spare with a relocation bracket where you mounted the brake light.
It requires it, you could skip that step a go with other options like a third brake light ring in the spare
How did you remove your camera? I’ve got the kit got to this part but couldn’t work it out. Mine is a 2019 Rubicon
Someone commented below with a 2021 rubi and had the same issue. Is contact rugged ridge with a solution
My camera doesn’t center itself in the casting camera sleeve any help with that it’s off center so in reverse half my view Is
Blocked please help
do your bump stops still press the tire? jus installed this and mine ar about 1-2 inches short.. doe this matter since it's a stronger carrier?
Doesn’t matter, kept mine in to prevent water from entering.
Looks great! It makes sense to do it on a 35 inch tire but I’m upgrading to 33s on my Willys. Do you think I’d need this for 33s or will the factory one be okay?
Sorry for the late reply, just now seeing this, but I would say no. I see people with 35s on the factory hinges
I run a 35 on factory carrier about a year now no problems,
@@shemmeredith1462 I heard the spacer kits you need, make it rattle. I’m not sure if I needed it or not but it’s a peace of mind thing, once’s the tailgate it’s warped it’s warped.
@@shemmeredith1462 I was really wanting this because I am going to 35's on my new 2021 Rubicon but I have seen so many comments on different video and forums that people have been running the stock tire carrier that that is what I am going to do....save me some cash.
@@LarryRichelli I have 37’s and so does a few of my other buddies. Factory hinges are fine. I did however get the Teraflex Alpha HD tire mount and it works just fine.
hey just saw your video im about to buy this product does it come with that third brake light or bought it separately
Yes it comes with the brackets to reuse your factory brake light. Remounts to the special lugs provided
@@liam5629 you have to take it off to change the tire, but it’s a minor inconvenience hopefully you only have to do when you rotate or need to change the spare
What year is your jeep. I bout this for 21 rubicon and it does not work. Back up camera does not pull out like older version.
2020
I’m looking at this for a 21 Rubicon....... did you resolve the problem Dale or do I need to look at something else? Thanks.
What wheel is that looks awesome
It’s a Fuel Vector wheel

Will this carrier hold a 37” tire?
Yes
Just can't understand the need for the other than just being cool and spending money. A 35" tire fits great on the stock carrier and I have never had the least bit problem of the thought that it can't hold it safely.
Your partly right. But you can’t fit a 35inch tire with out modification. So your already spending money on a solution. I seen the the cheap relocation kits shake and rattle down the highway. I’m still not sure you need the reenforcement, but I like the peace of mind for a couple 100 bucks.
I have a 35" and it makes my door sag slightly. Closing it sometimes fails as it doesn't line up perfectly. And it rubs badly on my aftermarket bumper.
having a cool looking set up is cool to look at, it is all about cool and+ money is to be spend, or saved for our kids that is how the ball rolls!
I see you commented 3 years ago. Are you still using your factory carrier for your 36” tire?
