This is Gimnazija Kranj Symphony Orchestra gift to humanity. Music must always win. Even in these hard times, when we are fighting the COVID-19 virus. Hugs to brave people across Europe, America, and the rest of the World. Many of you are alone in your sealed houses and bunkers. Our music is here to encourage you and brings hope into many homes around the world. I hope you will like it. Don't forget to turn on English subs!
zevnikov Thank you so much. I simply adore this beautiful music. In my solitude this comes to me as the perfect gift I needed to carry on. Music is universal, it touches all the hearts. Thank you again.
Thank you zevnikov. Suffering from pneumonia, isolated at home, anxious for the expectation of testing the coronavirus, I found this gem of interpretation to relieve my spirit. Thank you very much for sharing the music of this wonderful orchestra. I hope someday they can play in my city, São Paulo, Brazil.
I would run out of superlatives if I tried to praise this group from Slovenia enough. What an astounding collection of young musicians from a beautiful country with beautiful, talented people. Thanks UA-cam and the Kranj school for sharing your talent with the world.
Discovering you and your orchestra is God's perfect timing. He has placed it on my heart to put together classical music programs to share with the shut-in elderly in nursing and convalescent homes in "God's Country" of the Bitterroot Valley in Ravalli County of Montana USA...and I now very excited and inspired to be able to share your amazing God-sent performances. These programs are designed not only to share the priceless gift of joy music brings into our lives as the international language it is but also designed to be educational, sharing information about the composer, the conductor, the orchestra, and about the country's history. Your group excels my greatest expectations. Thank you again for such a long lasting legacy of superb tributes to superb composers!!!
Here it is, two years later, and I continue to be totally enthralled not only by the glorious music but also by the unequaled energy, spirit, and dedication EVERYONE in this orchestra, choir and behind the scenes technicians generate. A single day doesn't pass without my being blessed listening to these performances. Again, thank you for providing our world with such joy.🎉❤😊
As always, the greatest orchestra in the world ..... no exceptions. Thank you from Waco, Texas where starting tonight all restaurants and bars will be closed until further notice. Nejc, you and your young people are such rays of hope and inspiration.
Not the greatest orchestra in the world. A stunningly good youth orchestra, yes. Perhaps equal to the Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. But you do them no service by such over the top hype, and I'm sure they don't want it either.
Really spectacular and the conductor is a genius to get this level of performance out of a student orchestra no matter how much talent they have (and they have a lot).
Ludwig van Beethoven, Ode to joy is always complete with choir being the last piece of the puzzle. Now it is picture perfect. Hats off to the Maestro Mr. Nejc Bečan and the whole team.
How wonderful to see some of your wonderful "kids" are now playing with some of the great orchestras of the world. A testament to you and all the folk at Gimnazija Kranj.. Best of luck to them all .but I am assured that you will keep producing wonderful talent to keep us you tubers more than happy.. Best wishes from Wales.
This is one of the best performances I have heard of the 9th symphony. It just feels so lively and more accurate compared to other recordings. Great job guys!
This is simply an astounding performance! Maestro Becan (I don't know how to do the symbol over the c) again does the impossible: He calls the music from the beating heart of Beethoven. The quartet is one of the best I have ever heard. I have always thought that the initial entrance of the Baritone is awkward, and often the tone is ugly. This Baritone, in my opinion, makes the most beautiful music of Beethoven's recitative that I have heard to date. KUDOS TO ALL!
My very favourite of Beethoven's symphonies! Masterfully and beautifully performed by these amazing and talented musicians. Such an enormous joy to come to this little gem by accident. UA-cam got it right this time. Thank you so much! I needed this more than I realized. Bless 💗
Human Heritage Beethoven's 9 Symphony! If there were 10 billion intellectual civilizations in the entire universe, that civilization would probably want to designate the 9th Symphony of Beethoven as a space cultural heritage. This masterpiece and masterpiece are the only values that the Earth can boast about to other civilizations in the entire universe. The composition of all the movements of the four movements is perfect, the logical development is perfect, the emotional height is complete, each note is perfectly connected, and all the sounds of motivation are beyond the limits of human intellectual ability. If the tears don't flow after listening to this song, it would be an organism that has problems with brain cells. Great and great.
i played this magnificent recording immediately after reading the letter written by Helen Keller who "HEARD" for the first time with her hands on the radio speaker. It helped me hear it as if for the 1st time and the tears came again. Thank you Zevnikov, orchestra and Helen Keller for such a deeply moving experience.
I shared this with a friend who used to teach music at the college level. These were her comments: "1st and last movements. This is way spectacular and appears to be a mixture of high school musicians that are better than almost any "allstate" American high school orchestras I've heard. I took notes: "Love the conductor. Really knew the score; entrances, lengths of chords, etc. "Built great accents in accented lines, then double-accented within some sections "Contrabassoon! "Of all the cellists, only 1 was male. Most violinists were female as well. "Excellent tympanist, doubled on bass drum near end of last movement "Someone coached woodwinds to professional quality - oboe, piccolo especially. I think I spotted a saxophone as well as an alto clarinet. Sax is not around during Beethoven's time. "Trumpets are right in tune (unusual at high school). Piston valves, whereas most European trumpets are rotary valved. "Solo trombone was surprisingly weak but the t-bone section was strong. "Choir matched every college choir I've heard in quality, balance, intonation. Bass voices still sounded immature (except for the soloist) but well-coached. "Sopranos were caught sliding upward into high notes regularly, almost as if it were a stylistic addition (though I doubt that it's intentional). "I looked for an immediate standing O, but it came only at the 1st curtain call. This is probably a difference in the way classical cultures differ.... We tend to stand right away for excellence, especially at youth concerts. "I really enjoyed watching this recording and noticed that there are others available. Thanks for sending this!"
Saxophones are in because they don’t want to leave any kids behind. They practiced all year, they deserve to be there too. Everybody plays! I’m sure Beethoven wouldn’t mind.
Love the notes above, for I know nothing of this..I find myself moved. Moved so much, it bring a tear to my eyes. I want to know more, I want to experience more..
A sort of underture at the beginning, and then at 2:40 a hint of the ode. One of the best versions of this I have heard - right up there with the Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Ormandy, recorded in 1973 on Columbia.
Absolutely stunning performance from you all well done and thankyou for the upload you are bringing some joy in what is probably the biggest challenge for the world with this awful virus Covid19 we in the uk wish you and all of youre stunning orchestra and singers that you keep safe and well. From the UK please keep these uploads coming.
It is October 2024. I have listened to close to a dozen pieces by this orchestra here in the last 5 years and lo and behold THIS turned up in my UA-cam feed today! Barenboim's Western Eastern Proms 2012 recording of this is my All Time Favorite, but this is close and the Ode to Joy chorus by the choir is MUCH better than the Proms chorus. Bravo to all of you!
Also I have to point out your amazing camera work and overall editing of entire video. It is exceptionally very well done. It is fascinating to listen the music and in the same time to watch unbelievable skill of all members of the orchestra.
Soopadoopa rendition. German language sung at its finest. This piece represents the very pinnacle of western civilization and culture. Congratulations from western Canada....❤
One of my favorite, simply amazing group of young performers .what were the ages at the time? Is there a new group of young performers or could they not top this? I truly do love this
Joy - what a novel concept in today's world. Always loved this work but heretofore hadn't understood the words. The subtitles reveal Beethoven's inspiration the universal quest and yearning for the joy of love and peace for all the world. This Conductor profoundly comprehends this and evokes his passion from his artists. A masterpiece and one to return to for inspiration and comfort. Thank you.
LA NOVENA SINFONIA CONSTA DE CUATRO MOVIMIENTOS ,PERO ESTE ARREGLO DE 28 MINUTOS ES REALMENTE ESPECTACULAR ,TANTO PARA LA ORQUESTA COMO PARA LOS COROS ,FUERTE Y ENERGICO COMO EL ALMA DE BEETHOVEN , LOS ULTIMOS MINUTOS SON INOLVIDABLES Y ESE CIERRE SINFONICO INTERMINABLE- GRACIAS BEETHOVEN .
Tears in my eyes as I write this, truly superb. Sorry to be provincial but big up the NHS. Also to all careworkers around the world, you are saving lives. We respect you.
I have watched "10.000 Japanese" so many times, not knowing this video was online. This is so much better. Deep respect for the conductor. See also his performance on Offenbach's Unterwelt, same enthousiasm. Thank you!
Thank you for this beautiful piece, love to see so many young people together singing classical music. I would like to know if the musicians hear the music as we do on the outside
You cannot really enjoy this kind of music unless you have superb sound quality. All my 21 fingers up to all of you who played and made this unbelievable recording. Not only this one....
The town of 38 thousand people... gymnasium.... this is not real, this is amazingly Beethoven 9, Dvorak... This is the highest stage of European and world culture!!
Magnificent performance. I am British and this music reminds me of that horrendous mistake called 'Brexit'. In these troubled times of war, the EU has to be strong, as the courageous Ukrainians are battling against the massive forces of Russia's demented dictator.
Excellent orchestra, solists, choir, and a phantastic maestro!

And this symphony is the perfect one to bring us together during these times.
Music brings calmness to mind, peace to our soul and lets it go with emotions flowing like calm waters.

A conductor who knows his work. Conducted without a score. Amazing performance.
@Derek Rodney definitely, I've been using kaldroStream for since november myself =)
@Derek Rodney Yup, I have been watching on kaldroStream for months myself :D

Beethoven was a genius!
