She plays with gusto, with bravura, her confident arms making wide, graceful arcs through the air, which are the expansive and bold gestures of a true virtuoso, and even when she is not playing and it is the orchestra's turn, she continues expressing the emotion of the music through the movements of her body. As she listens to the orchestra her body sways to its rhythm. You can see the music is in her soul and in her body, in every fiber of her being.
Indeed, all of the above. In her dynamic enthusiasm, she even makes the few mistakes sound like they belong there. Bravo! One hundred fold!!!🤗🎹🎶🎵❤️❤️❤️
I'm 75 and remember playing this in the background while reading War And Peace when I was ten. It has influenced me through several additional readings and life in general. I can only agree with most of the previous posts and will not try to upstage any of them. So glad I discovered this video and such a remarkable pianist! There have been three classical pieces which have influenced and guided me throughout my life. This is one of them. Whenever I need to reprogram my mind I listen to one and it helps me get back on track.
I love that it looks like the conductor is enjoying the pianist, the pianist is enjoying the orchestra, they are all just present, savoring the beautiful music.
With me it's maybe 27 years old and now 82. As music composition for an orchestra this is the peak in my book. You just never get tired of it. I think since the days of being able to see good videos, I also have to think individuals in a good symphony orchestra feel so very much a part - it shows in their movements. May I add that we can see and hear that Clara loves the music she is playing. No notes on paper needed - it's all in her mind and in her heart and it is from there that she creates beautiful sounds for a message being sent back through the years to Ludwig himself saying 'Thank you sir. Your work is the everlasting reason for the people of this world to feel good and to smile knowing that you will always understand and care about us".
If someone so magnificent can flub an occasional note, I feel a lot better about myself. This was a stunningly beautiful performance. Orchestra and pianist played with such joy and passion. I wish more musicians threw themselves into the music like this.

Awesome! Johanna plays with such a joy that it is a dual pleasure to view this record. Them music perfectly played and filled with pure enthusiasm, just great. I love the Emperor since I was about 15, with my simple vinyl disc player and ever since have played and listened to it several hundred times and me never gets tired of it. One time had it live with LangLang and thought this cannot be topped but I must admit, this lady got me with tears rolling...
Such a dramatic beginning as lush orchestrated instrumentation joins in. Pianist is obviously classical trained, doing an amazing job with her craft. Soft passages, crescendos, decrescendos, changing rhythmic patterns, well planned out melodic lines, lots of trills, fast moving musical lines, ending in a soft musical scheme. This composition truly has it all! One of my favorite Beethoven pieces. Thank you for sharing it with all of us!
I truly agree with with your comments! I say the piano soloist has a marking of great talents!! The caressing of the piano keys truly identify her love for the music it produces that it transcends to the rest of the orchestra of which the notes transfers to the listeners!! Bravo!!👍🎹🎶🎵 💐🌺🎈🎈❤️🇨🇦

As the last descendant of Beethoven (my great-great-great-great-uncle) for the time being, I can say with complete justification that this interpretation of the Emperor Concerto is one of the most beautiful I have ever heard. Ms. Hanikova's command of the piano is masterful, her tone and intonation emotionally touching. Likewise the orchestral leadership of the conductor Lukas Klansky. A perfect interaction. I'm sure my great-great-great-great-uncle would be just as excited. 👋🤩
GREAT performance. Pure class! Johanna Hanikova's playing, the director, the whole orchestra, and the beautiful venue were a pleasure to listen to and to watch.

Excellent performance by all! I particularly enjoyed watching the movements of Johanna as she performed this piece. She showed that she was totally emersed in the music by her bodily motions. Some performers are "stiff" as they perform, but she was anything but! She was loving every moment of bringing Beethoven alive! The best video I've seen of "The Emperor"! Thanks so much for posting!❤
I am so glad I found this wonderful performance, It is so beautiful, powerful and moving, the engagement between soloist and conductor and orchestra, the clarity of sound and crystal clear video make this the most freshest performance of Beethoven's 5th concerto I have ever heard. Thank you for uploading!!
Thanks to the great composer, the remarkable pianist interpretating every single note of the masterpiece, plus the sophiscated orchestra, especially the modern technology and UA-cam, bring me to a wonderful world free of trivial troubles.
I have nothing but praise for the performance by the soloist, Johanna Hanikova, the conductor, Lukas Klansky, the Prague Philharmonia, the composer (one, Ludwig van Beethoven, evidently a newcomer), and the intimate setting at the Lichtenstein Palace in Prague. All were wonderfully attentive, jaunty and lovely to watch and hear. I do have one [minor] gripe about the videographer and the positioning of the cameras. May I say that, the videographer (given the obvious limitations in space) operated as though he/she had never heard the piece before, doesn't understand the interaction of orchestra and soloist, and misses the loveliness of a concerto: There were no close ups of Ms. Hanikova's face & hands; there were no frontal shots of the orchestra from the audience P.O.V. (except very wide shots), and not a single shot of various sections, most disappointingly, the percussionist in the last bars of the concerto. I am not a videographer, but I have seen hundreds of UA-cam Classical Music videos, and I'm sure that the better ones among them are absolute career enhancers for the performers. And why not? They work extremely hard to please us. Nevertheless, thanks very much, for uploading the video.
It was not only fantastic to listen to Beethoven, but watching performer so beautiful and carried away by this wonderful music; Johanna played the concerto with her whole being, - all left an unforgettable impression on me.
Not every institution can mount a lavish production such a only major record labels can afford. Viewing a lower-budget recording can prove that, in the end, it is the quality and impact music that counts and for which--in this case--we should be grateful..
I felt Iam in a concert hall with Beethoven conducting this lovely concerto perfectly played by the soloist & orchestra.Great conducting.Congratulations
Is it only me to feel some time travel, back to 200 years ago from the scene, the color tone, the pianist, of course, the music? Everything is Just so classic!
"initial admiration for Napoleon"... Beethoven composed this concerto in 1809 under salary in Vienna, and he dedicated it to Archduke Rudolf, who was his patron, friend, and pupil. Beethoven had previously reconsidered the dedication of his Third Symphony ("Eroica"); initially dedicated to Napoleon, Beethoven changed it after Napoleon assumed the title of emperor in 1804. Musicologists agree that the concerto has no connection to any "emperor". By late 1803, Beethoven had sketched out his new epic symphony, the Eroica. It was inspired by the ideals of the French Revolution and dedicated to its hero, who then seemed to be the great liberator of the people: Napoleon. Beethoven thought of himself as a free spirit, and he admired the principles of freedom and equality embodied by the French Revolution. He thought he recognized in Napoleon a hero of the people and a champion of freedom, which was why he intended to dedicate a huge new symphony to him. But when Beethoven heard the news in late 1804 that Napoleon had crowned himself Emperor of France, he was disgusted. “He’s just a rascal like all the others,” he exclaimed. Beethoven violently erased Napoleon’s name from his manuscript-so forcefully, in fact, that he erased his way right through the paper, leaving holes in the title page.
Not only his initial's one! 200 hundred years later, the anthem of the European Community is the symphony N° 9 ... Don't forget to listen to this wonderful masterpiece and to read + understand what the words (from the past ?) were dedicated to the future. The future from yesterday is our culture, for an everlasting people's progress ans wellness!
Hi, can you hear the piano keys banging at the beginning of the performance? Maybe the microphone was set on the piano, but later the soundmen could have filtered out this deep thumping sound. I can hear it, but it's so good that I gave it another chance, and not in vain, because it really was an excellent performance!

This is the performance of this classical piece of Beethoven's with this angelic pianist, I have memorized each note. Sheet music I have , but this I wanted to learn by only by ear. Piano concerto no. 5 in E - flat major Op. 73 This has been a lasting joy, and I want to express my appreciation !! I thank all of you. ❤️ MAGNIFICENT!!!!
This is my favourite piece of all time, I have the score, ofte I practice passages ffrom it and I listen to many performances of this, for me the greatest of all piano concertos. This performance is one of the best. I like everything about it and Johanna is a truly wonderful deliverer of this Beethoven classic. Stunning performance, quite possibly one of the best ever made of this work.
I am certain no human can compose this piece so complex and so beautiful.!! It must be Almighty God !! and then the pianist ,such talent and phenomenal beauty is hard to comprehend ! I stand in awe !! Never enjoyed 40 minutes more in my life than this Sunday. !!
what a great human achievement to be playing this now in this age of dissolution and despair. I could just imagine Ludwig himself knocking out the keys with Johanna proud of her and of the entire orchestra. It must be said that the AUDIENCE is so wonderful too! Exploding out of the concert hall (whih looks like a Protestant church to me) to secure the national sovreignty and lead Europe back to its SOUL.

💀..Mmmmm, Glorious & Truly Sublime..!!!..( decidedly undemonstrative conductor..)
This performance seems ageless. Perpetually suspended in class, elagance and harmonious balance. What rare thing.
@@kikk101 Well said. You'll hear no argument from me about anything you've said.
Not every institution can mount a lavish production such a only major record labels can afford. Viewing a lower-budget recording can prove that, in the end, it is the quality and impact music that counts and for which--in this case--we should be grateful..
the emporer was Napoleon?
Wow, you said everything I was thinking about the videography footage. 👍🏻
(& the enchanting performance, of course)
Most delightful concert youvwill ever watch!💥⚡️🤗
👏👏 A wonderful performance, indeed!
Bien sur.
I felt Iam in a concert hall with Beethoven conducting this lovely concerto perfectly played by the soloist & orchestra.Great conducting.Congratulations
Absolutely wonderful. The best sounding and most flawlessly executed performance I have ever heard. Thanks to all.
Is it only me to feel some time travel, back to 200 years ago from the scene, the color tone, the pianist, of course, the music? Everything is Just so classic!
Por siempre: L.V. BEETHOVEN 😍Concierto No. 5 "Emperador" 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

Muy cerquita de lo divino.

@@JorgeRamirez-qo5wf truly!! God gave him a gift like no other...
Bravo. Gracias Beethoven.❤
Wonderful simply wonderful - Beethoven is an immortal gift to the world !! 🌎
¡Bravo!
Beethoven’s initial admiration for Napoleon was the motif behind this beautiful piano concerto!
I always thought he wrote Eroica for him, and got pissed once he crowned himself emperor
The "Emepror" is not Napoleon, it's the emperor of Austria
Then he got disappointed with the man who rode the waves of antiroyalty revolution, and, having succeeded, decalared himself an emperor.......
Excellent. In my opinion, Claudio Arrau mastered the Emperor Concerto like no one else. But that’s just me.
Claudio said" Rachmaninoff?-- that's just parlor music"
He's DQ'ed for life after that asinine comment
I have about 20 versions of this on my Hi-Fi and this is one of the very best.
Hi, can you hear the piano keys banging at the beginning of the performance? Maybe the microphone was set on the piano, but later the soundmen could have filtered out this deep thumping sound. I can hear it, but it's so good that I gave it another chance, and not in vain, because it really was an excellent performance!
Try Lang Lang's interpretation.
@@heetbrink There were quite a few errors in her runs in the 1st movement.

This is the performance of this classical piece of Beethoven's with this angelic pianist, I have memorized each note. Sheet music I have , but this I wanted to learn by only by ear. Piano concerto no. 5
in E - flat major Op. 73
This has been a lasting joy, and I want to express my appreciation !!
I thank all of you. ❤️ MAGNIFICENT!!!!
Wonderful music!!!
Exquisite.
What a Golden Girl!⭐️⚡️💥
Absolutely love this concerto. Beautifully performed by Johanna Hanikova with the PKF Prague Philharmonia. Bravo.
Orquestra maravilhosa e a pianista excelente! Adorei 🥰
I am certain no human can compose this piece so complex and so beautiful.!! It must be Almighty God !! and then the pianist ,such talent and phenomenal beauty is hard to comprehend ! I stand in awe !! Never enjoyed 40 minutes more in my life than this Sunday. !!
To me, Beethoven is God.

Magnificent!!
what a great human achievement to be playing this now in this age of dissolution and despair.
Wonderful! I love her interaction with the Conductor - and the fact that she does not need a score.
Stunning!!She is playing effortlessly! She is so beautiful!
Bravissimi tutti. Grazie ❤
This young lovely pianiste has a most estethique way to move her arms and hands. She did great.🎉 One can see how she really enjoys playing.
