Another lovely, world-class music-making from a "youth" orchestra, that (so-called first-world) cities with twenty times the population of Slovenia, etc, can't begin to rival. Its very frustrating that The SF Bay area struggles to maintain one barely-comparable symphony orchestra, despite the highest concentration of wealth in the world. Thank goodness for YT!!
Lovely, gorgeous, beautiful! It is beyond words! When the camera zoomed on their young faces while they were seriously playing out the great music,I was in tears because a lot of brutal war scenes went through my mind at the same time! Why are people on Earth hate each others so much that they kill each others in wars when they do something as beautiful as making music like this?
Bravo Bravo Bravo!!!!! These are kids??? Mr. Conductor your kids are fabulous. I am so impressed. Better than London Philharmonic Orchestra. Great job by kid on snare drum. Only 5 pc's instead of 6 though on opening but better too loud than not hearing snare for first 16 bars at all as with London. Featured soloist great job. Cundutor Great job.
Agreed this is one of the best versions on you tube. A very fine group of young musicians playing a difficult piece. Yes the young man on the drums keeping the pace did a great job. May be started a bit slow but as the piece continued was fun to watch them get into the rhythm and put more body language into playing. Enjoyed the one young lady who was moving all the time when playing. Happy to see so many young women playing. Was surprised with the few audience shots that the people seemed stoned faced but very pleased with the applause the musicians got. Conductor did a great job also. As you can imagine I have downloaded this and will be playing it regularly with other versions of Bolero. As for the few negative comments to this piece why don't you move on. If you can't say something nice then keep your mouth shut. Yes you may have the right to say what you want but that doesn't mean you are right by doing so.
Fantastic! Personally I like the faster tempo, but maybe not to everyone's liking. But what the heck, you can't help but admire the enthusiasm coupled with the high level of musicianship. Full credit to the boss man!
Two words...BAD-ASS!!! Beautiful music coupled with Super Gorgeous Ladies makes for a delight to the ears and eyes. This is the best orchestral performance I've seen on youtube so far by very talented young people. I agree that the snare drum was a tad bit loud, but dude did a great job!
The flautist at the beginning is exceptionally good. This orchestra is a real stand out . My hunch is the conductor just has that reare ability to make music sound right. This really is a stand out version of this piece of music.
Very well done. Better than many of the big-name orchestras I've heard do Bolero. I also loved that the artists move their bodies. Something about that sits well with me. I enjoy seeing them "feel" the music when other performers often stay so rigid. Well done. and... Im a fan of the early snare.
Very talented young musicians. I see many young women there too, good. I listenes by this Youth orchestra playing Capriccion Espagnol. I liked it very much too.
It is so nice to see the young people playing world class music. Though for me, it was a little sobering because, after WWII, so many European orchestras were staffed with young and very old people because so many of the former musicians were no longer with us. I'm so glad this is not the case. A beautiful performance.
Technically I believe this tempo is correct according to the original score. But whether it is or not, it is simply one of the finest performances you will ever hear. Each of the parts is played quite superbly, in particular I love the oboe and saxophone.
Thank you Zevnikov you and your beautiful young musicians I am crying with this fantastic piece talent every one of them long life and music god bless you all
First time seeing this video but have seen other also great performances by this orchestra in the 2010s. I recognize some of the same musicians and they look so young.
Actually... the tempo here at a quarter note equals 72 bpm is Exaxtly what Messr. Ravel specified on his original manuscript. Don't take My word for it... look it up. Most "mainstream" orchestra conductors seem to want to drag it out, for some reason. Maybe so that they can spend more time displaying their conducting theatrics, perhaps?... 🤔🤣 Nejc and Primož, and their superb young musicians here, have absolutely Nailed it. 💖💕
What I love about this interpretation is the lightness of touch, rendering the work somehow even darker to my ears. Here is the snare - the infernal machine - contrasted with the light, singing, almost mocking tone of the remainder of the orchestra. If there were members of the audience not enjoying it, that may be the effect the work is having on them rather than any reflection on the orchestra or the performance. Personally, I have to be in the right headspace to hear this work, and this is one of the best interpretations I've encountered. Trust this wonderful orchestra to come up with yet another fine rendition. we are truly spoilt.
I have no music education but my soul loves all kind of music including classical. Aa an singer in a local choire I' ve learned one thing abot music. Tehnical perfecton dose not make music sound good, but when you put your heart, soul and joy of makeing music in performance makes it way better. And I think that is what you heard from this young musicians. Greetings from Slovenia
To everyone saying that this performance was too fast or the snare didn't start as soft as needed in a negative connotation, I'm not fond of. Keep in mind, this concert was performed by young musicians, not musicians who have spent multiple decades building their musical career. Usually, with a group of young musicians you may have a limited time or even limited funding. Please don't knock it because of its small flaws.

Patak Please don't be so hard on yourself. I am now 79 y.o. Somehow we all are on a road to destiny, and of course have no clue where that road leads. I used speed for 27 years then got clean, turned around and thought, "What the hell was that all about?" I managed 13 years, then it came back, that awful truth, and I haven't stopped yet. My whole life has slipped before me and I have accomplished nothing. Please do not be so hard on yourself Patak ! ! I call it "woulda, coulda, shoulda," but there is no truth there. I could have done a few great things. Things that were offered, but no, the layout of my life, and I quite imagine perhaps your life as well as others is happening on a daily basis, and I am so grateful to be ALIVE. Don't look back. Stay in the day no matter what. You might just be surprised and the results. HAVE FAITH IN YOURSELF. Sincerely and respectfully I remain at 79 y.o.; gay; and as happy as I can be on a daily basis, Sentebey in USA
Great kids, great job! This is my all time favorite classic piece. The instruments were in wrong order, and some were substituted, as was the cae of the bassoon being subbed at the third part of the piece. The E-Flat Clarinet was suppossed to play AFTER the bassoon. But they skipped that part alltogether and eliminated the bassoon.

Kudos to the percussionist playing the snare drum, the hardest part of the Bolero
NikkkitoNippongo Totally agree. Without the metronomic snare, the whole piece would fall to pieces. Well done, that young man.
+Steven Kyle Let's just say everyone made this piece work. Kudos to everyone.
This orchestra is simply perfection ... simply delightful on all counts.... Congratulations Gimnazja Kranj Symphony Orchestra.
I love this orchesta. The best bolero I have ever heard.
What a delight to watch this orchestra play Ravel's BOLERO! Bravo!
At last!! A Bolero that is ALIVE, and not dragging across the stage like a wounded buffalo. These kids breathe energy into the piece. Thank you!
I was wondering why this was only 13:44 long. They played this faster than than what Im used to hearing. Very good none the less.
so much talent from this orchestra, a superbly satisfying performance that can be watched again and again.
Bravo Bravo Bravo!!!!! These are kids??? Mr. Conductor your kids are fabulous. I am so impressed. Better than London Philharmonic Orchestra. Great job by kid on snare drum. This is by far the best Bolero on youtube. A real treat and so, so beautiful.
As always this group is outstanding. Especially at this young age.

Wonderful young orchestra from Slovenia! We know, we know there is no French Horn or bassoon but thse musicians are excellent! Congratulations!

still in love with the flute soloist.
The tempo is faster than the original but personally- being a music lover but not a purist- I find it it most satisfying

Many thanks Nikkito
Awesome!
She's playing with feeling, putting her soul into her music. There's nothing weird about that.
She only has 10% sight and has to get close to see the music then lean back to see the conductor.
She’s legally blind.

Absolutely beautiful but ruined by chronic commercials during the performance.
at the1928 premiere a woman shouted that Ravel was mad. When told about this, Ravel smiled and remarked that she had understood the piece, great quote
