    IF ON IFR:
    Make sure to acknowledge ATC instructions and request for altitude changes. ATC will notify you for several waypoint changes. And make sure you listen to handoffs mid-flight.
    Failure to follow instructions results in flight termination

    Heres a tip: if you're flying a heavy (Boeing/Airbus) ALWAYS use IFR when planning your flight!
    It's sooo much easier and I'm pretty sure actually what they do IRL.

    Is it possible to do an IFR with ATC but fast forwarded? Example: New York to Tokyo
    If so, what should I do?

    • @JacksFSVideos
      @JacksFSVideos  4 роки тому

      It is possible, but you'll need to do it not too fast so that you're able to change frequencies as you move between areas (you won't have to over the Pacific)

    I have a problem with IFR-landing. The ATC won't tune up to give directions and stuff, it's just quiet. Is that because I flew to another country? I tuned up the standby to the frequency of the departure airport.
    Do I have to do anything with my radio panel if the ATC tells me to tune up with (...)?

    • @JacksFSVideos
      @JacksFSVideos  7 років тому +1

      It should automatically be tuned in and ready to go when you load in FSX on the ground. For an IFR landing, make sure your GPS has it's flight plan set into it and when on approach, ATC will give you the hand-offs to the right centres and approaches etc. to get instructions to land

    when you want atc to tell you directions to a airport, do you go to the flight planner and then just put the airport you want to land on and the tower will automatically guide you to it? and do you choode vfr or ifr?

    • @JacksFSVideos
      @JacksFSVideos  7 років тому

      You use the Flight Planner to plan your flight, after you tell ATC you're requesting a IFR to that airport, they will guide you there after take-off.

    Fsx atc is still one of the best atc in flight sims despite being 12 years old. I would pay up to £60 for an add on that is as good for xplane but they all have shortcomings. Either only handling IFR or with no filter being applied to the voices so they all sound nothing like radios actually sound (no bass). Also some only have one male voice for all controllers.

    • @JacksFSVideos

      Jack's FS Videos I have xplane 10 and the atc is alright if you are IFR. But xplane lacks the proper AI aircraft out of the box (and therefore the relevant background radio chatter) and it doesn't cater for VFR.

    I dont get automated handoff to Center frequency.
    Ground, tower, departure and approach works fine, but I never get handoff to center while flying IFR. How can this be? I bought FSX steam edition few weeks ago, and I can remember 6-7 years ago when I fly IFR, I would always get automated handoff to center and the flight following on it.
    Can you help?

    Does 6 o clock like mean heading six or? Like on the GPS make the heading towards six oclock

    • @JacksFSVideos
      @JacksFSVideos  6 років тому

      It's a reference to your current direction, so you are always travelling at 12 o'lock (no matter your heading). So 6 o'clock would be directly behind you (a turn of 180 degrees)

    • @jason-it1ug
      @jason-it1ug 6 років тому

      Jack's FS Videos Okay thank you. So ok. You click the heading till its a line directly behind you THANKS A LOT AND I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL keep up the good work!! 😊

      Jack's FS Videos so 180 degrees is what in heading I cant calculate it cause when the pink heading line goes pst 1/3 of the way you can see it so you dont know

    For me when I'm flying IFR and get close to my destination the atc just forgets about me and doesn't give me commands to descend from cruise altitude. Either that or it will tell me to descend way too late like 50 nm from the destination

    • @DaGrumpyTaco
      @DaGrumpyTaco 4 роки тому

      For example I'm in cruise at FL360, 80 nm from KMIA, haven't manually requested a lower cruise alt because I want to see if atc will do it properly, they tell me to descend to FL290 when I'm like 60 nm away and still at cruising speed

    • @JacksFSVideos
      @JacksFSVideos  4 роки тому

      Have you tried it at other airports?

  • @Kevci4
    @Kevci4 4 роки тому +1

    It is so annoying sometimes because I can't go AFK with out contacting different frequencies every 10 minutes

    • @JacksFSVideos
      @JacksFSVideos  4 роки тому +1

      You should only have to do that after take-off and before landing

    • @julian3898
      @julian3898 4 роки тому +1

      What I do is take-off, then when I enter cruise I get an instruction to switch freq, acknowledge the instruction to switch, then don't contact the next ATC. That way you can fly to your destination while AFK and tune back to ATC when approaching your destination.

    What does "altimeter 2992" means?

    • @JacksFSVideos
      @JacksFSVideos  6 років тому +5

      Took this from a forum:
      The number is atmospheric pressure measured in inches of mercury. Atmospheric pressure is basically the force with which the mass of air above you "pushes you down".
      Now, because of atmospheric conditions, pressure is not the same everywhere. So, let's say you take off from airport AAA. The "local QNH" or local altimeter setting may be - say 29,75. This is the *accurate local* pressure. Which means, that your altimeter, once set to 29,75 will show you your actual, real altitude.
      Now, as you pass 18,000 ft (in the US) you need to switch your altimeter setting to 29,92. Why? Is that the real pressure over 18,000? No. But above that altitude it's not really necessary to know your real altitude. It IS important to know how far you are from other planes though.
      Let me give a couple of examples:
      Northwest 435 is flying at 18000 ft with an altimeter setting of 29,75
      Delta 367 is flying at 19000 ft with an altimeter of 29,84
      They converge. Are they really 1000 feet apart? No they are not. Try flying up to 18000 feet and switching from 29,75 to 29,84 and see how different the altitude is. If the difference is higher... there might even be a collision.
      So you see, low on the ground, where you have to know your REAL altitude (so you don't run into a mountain), you use the LOCAL altimeter setting (QNH). High up in the skies we ALL use the SAME QNH, so we know where we all fly. Do we know our real altitude? No. Do we know how far apart we are from others really? Yes. And that's what is important.
      By the way, 18,000 is the "Transition Altitude" in the U.S. and above that you don't say "altitude" anymore, you say "flight level". Thus, you fly at 17,000 feet, 18,000 feet and then FL190, FL200 etc..

      VFR is Visual Flight Rules and IFR is Instrument Flight Rules. It just basically means how ATC will direct you and the rules you follow while in the air, commercial airlines will only ever use IFR and even general aviation have to use IFR in bad weather. And you can press Scroll Lock to bring it up, or hold down Alt and then in the View panel along the top, open ATC :)

      Sorry, I didn't realise you were talking about the number of videos for the year. The last video I released before this one was on 31 December 2016 @ 21:00 GMT - it may be because you're in a time zone ahead? And yes, I will be moving over to my other channel, most likely next year. And thanks! I'm really glad you're liking the videos!

      I'm not sure what you mean by "sticker" - could you explain?

      Thanks for the explanation of a 'sticker' - I'm well aware of it's meaning. I was asking you to explain the word in the context you have chosen.

      Thank you for the explanation. However, I regret to inform you that Jack's FSX Videos does not supply self-adhesive labels for typing.

      In the FSX main interface, click 'Flight Planner...'. Then select your departure and arrival airport along with 'IFR' and then for commercial flights, select 'High-altitude airways' and click 'Find Route'. Then go through the rest of the procedure and launch FSX.
