Quick question from a beginner : how do you know which runway you want to land ? Do you already look at the METAR report ? In the video you seemed to know outright what runway to use for each airports.
The sim will auto select the most appropriate runway for the weather at the time. Tuning into the airport's ATIS frequency will also give the current active runway. They are the two easiest methods. METAR can be good, but may not give you the actual active runway, and some airports don't have a METAR station nearby.
Also think of the runway number as a direction from the magnetic compass but without a Zero on the end. So runway 25 is actually in the direction of magnetic bearing of 250 degrees. When you look at the wind direction information you will know yourself what runway is the most suitable for your departure.
Great explanation , really detailed, learned a lot. Any tips on how to start from a parking spot after programming the route on the EFB? When adding a parking spot or gate from the world map I loose the complete route, hmmmm.

Great video. When modifying your IFR flight plan in the EFB mid-flight and clicking "File with ATC", does this work for you? No matter what I do it seems to continue giving vectors for the previous flight plan. Most likely a bug, but could also be user error. Moreover, it seems that the approaches, arrivals and departures on the EFB differ quite significantly from the ones available on the G1000/3000. Cheers
Yes most definitely a bug.. I think fixing the bugs on the EFB is highly requested by the community in the forums. I know we are having a patch on the 9th December. I will try modify my flight mid flight and let you know what happens
Just daydreaming here, but wouldn’t it be amazing if we could open the EFB on an actual iPad, place it right next to the screen showing MSFS, and interact with it directly on the iPad? This tutorial was great-very clear and well-explained! I do have a question, though: I noticed your CDI was set to LOC. That made me wonder-where is the plane getting that localizer signal from? For example, I assume you wouldn’t be able to pick up radio signals from Amsterdam while flying over London. So, how does that work in practice? From what I understand, you’d have your CDI set to GPS for most of the flight, following the route in the flight plan. Then, as you approach the base leg or intercept the localizer, you’d switch the CDI to LOC. Is that correct? If you have any recommendations for a good tutorial on this topic-or if you could create one yourself-that would be awesome!
This would be amazing I hope we get this support in future but you can do this with a navigraph subscription with navigraph charts app on iPad. Not sure if you like me to do a tutorial about it.. There is also a g1000 ipad app that you can get from and you can choose between the PFD side or MFD side where you can access your route. I could also do a video on that also. Regarding the CDI I think the aircraft programmed the Luton localiser by default for the take off. Not sure what was going on there, but yes on approach you switch from CDI to LOC. would you also like me to do an ILS landing tutorial in the Cessna ?
@ Since the route planner is already built into MSFS, and I’ve never used Navigraph (mainly because I’m a beginner and playing on Xbox), I think I’ll stick with what I’ve got for now. The EFB flight planning seems decent enough for my needs. The reason I was asking about CDI and GPS/LOC is that I just passed the Instrument Rating exam in MSFS2024 Career mode. Honestly, the exam was a breeze compared to all the training sessions-especially VOR, RNAV, and ILS. Now that I’ve moved on to VIP charter flights, I’m realizing I still have a lot to learn! During one flight, the GPS flight plan worked okay, but when I switched to LOC, it seemed way off-I wasn’t sure where it was taking me. Thankfully, the skies cleared, and I managed a visual landing after improvising a crosswind pattern when I realized I was way too high to land properly. ILS approaches, long-distance navigation, and using autopilot are all pretty new to me since I didn’t dive too deep into MSFS2020. So, I’d definitely say I’m still a complete beginner and eager to learn more so I can follow best practices and improve my flying skills!
@@Operaatoorsthe features in the efb are more than enough for anyone to learn I even think less people will have a need for navigraph now. Also if you active the approach on the g1000 it should switch from CDI to LOC when you reach the first approach waypoint. That’s what happens in real life it should be simulated also. If you don’t know how to do that I will make a future tutorial on this.

I will look into this. The thing is the default Airbus v2 by inibuilds uses its own efb different to asobo and the only way I know so far is to use simbrief which is a free. I do have another tutorial that shows you how to create a flight plan on simbrief that intergrates with the asobo efb which you can open using the toolbar. Great video! Unfortunately there are some bugs remaining in the EFB i don’t know if it’s only with the Boeing 737 Max aircraft. Also the weight and balance are out of control. I haven’t yet tried an aircraft other than the 737 max have you been in the same situation?
defo a lot of bugs. Can't get flight plan to import into any of the airbuses after pressing send to avionics. Only managed to get it to work in ther 747 so far
Airacs are the original ones (hence of the same quality as Navigraph's) and are updated at the same time as the original ones. We only can hope, that companies like Fenix and Pmdg finally untie their business relationship with Navigraph und start using the default free airac cycles. Anything else would be a slight against the flightsim community.
I’ll still keep my subscription I prefer their charts and I love their iPad app which shows where my aircraft is when I have it next to my monitor. If asobo made an efb iPad app I’d be all for it.
I did learn a few things, but I just can't seem to get communication between the EFB and the avionics in the plane. If I change something in one, and I use the EFB to transfer the plane either too or from the avionics, is simply does not change either in the plane, or on the compass map in external views. I have tried everything, and it just does not work. What am I missing?
@@shenmisheshou7002 did you press file flight plan to atc before you press the send route to avionics button? After you load into your plane try pressing those two options on your efb again. This is also a known bug and we’re hoping for a fix next week
@@shenmisheshou7002 I have heard some success of people deleting the sim and making sure it’s completely uninstalled then re downloading and installing it again. That helped with other bugs tho not this one.
@@OzzySafa I did do that, but saw no difference. Perhaps it is just a learinging curve, but again the pre-flight builds a flight plan in the EFB, and if I am in flight mode, and and change, the flight plan using the aircraft NAV, and I try to update it from the EFB pop up, it does not update, and many times, I get crazy stuff on the pull down. It is very disruptive because the aircraft systems and the EFB seem to be connected, but confused based on where you input the plan, or change the plan.
@ so you manually set the flight plan yourself on the avionics? Have a look at my gps approach tutorial I show you how to program the flight plan into the g1000 in case it doesn’t work for you.
I finally managed to get the plane in the air after just flying the Cessna about and then I didn’t know what to do after the climb I winged it and landed and was happy that I made it lol
You can’t but if we go to flight simulator forums and request this as on the wish list the more people that vote for it the more likely they will consider implementing this feature

@@OzzySafa Im playing on PC but through GamePass. I was assuming GamePass is the problem but not sure. I have also noticed DELUXE is included with GamePass but that cant be right... and is probably why I do not have any Deluxe assets.
@@OzzySafa East USA 38ms. I have a pretty solid PC and fiber that puts out 800Mbps. Only thing i want to do is upgrade my 3070 Super and add another 32GB of Ram. BUT i highly doubt any of that is the problem.
At 16:27 I started a new flight without a plan because I forgot to mention the check list. After that part the magenta lines all matched fine with the original flight.
@ those are private airports. In the bottom right after you click information of the airport click the setting from LIDO to FAA chart type and see if anything comes up.
@@OzzySafa some do some don’t. An example would be the gold medium cargo mission you do to unlock getting those missions in Japan. Didn’t have any charts or graphs in any mode. Also, in examples of charts that did pop up, didn’t have IFR and the RNAV charts didn’t have a radio signal to tune to (forgive me for my ignorance to proper terminology. Your incredibly awesome videos are my only insight into any of this. Thank you 😊)
@@Bazookabunz don’t worry I understand. It would be so useful but usually those small private airports don’t have any instrument approaches. If your private airport that you’e flying to is located near a VOR at best if you’re lucky enough they might have a VOR approach… but usually those airports are VFR flying.
you cut the video once you loaded the game after you created flight plan that plan wasn't on avionics 17:07 and then all of the sudden after you cut the video at 17:10 flight plan is there so wtf dude?
Yes I did haha you have a good eye. I had reloaded a blank flight plan after the flight because I forgot to talk about the check list. But I put that into the part of the video before I go over the avionics flight because most people start off cold and dark but it was all recorded after the main tutorial. I went back to do that part again.
@@OzzySafa but the thing is I came here to figure out why my flight plan is not loading to avionics because it's empty once I start the plane. And no matter how many times I click send to avionics it's not there avionics is empty.
@ you’re not the only person this has happened to. Someone else on my comments had this issue. Make sure you file with atc first and then click load to avionics. If not try a different flight from somewhere else as I know there are many bugs to do with the efb. Let me know if you’re able to try another flight.

If "Developer Mode" is enabled then you will not get weather or charts! Took me forever to figure that out.

Have you noticed that the magenta lines on the G1000 and the EFB don’t match.

If not try a different flight from somewhere else as I know there are many bugs to do with the efb. Let me know if you’re able to try another flight.
@@OzzySafa Yeah I'm not doing this for the first time you talking to a mfs20 vet with over 2k hours 😁😁 but yes in mfs 24 so far I had no luck with loading flight plan from EFB to any aircraft in the game. I just stopped playing 4 days ago.
