  • It's always a good idea to have a good portable air conditioner standing by for a back up if the main system fails.

So the big problem with these types of portable A/C's is the the unit pulls inside air (that has already been cooled) to cool the condenser. Then, this air is discharged to the outside. Hence, energy (which costs $'s) is being wasted to operate the A/C. Where as, a Window units use outside air to cool the condenser. Window units are (on average) about 25% more efficient. That's huge.

How loud is the compressor when it turns on and off? I dont see anywhere in the specs that it's an inverter, so i have some concern with the compressor noise. Thanks.

You were right, read the F*&^% manual. Was seeing how easy it would be to set this thing up and get it running without the manual. Thanks for being a sub.

Your welcome Charles I have an old hier portable unit and mode controls usually the setting but personally I don't like the new settings with just cool fan and dehumidify where the old units had an eco setting where the compresser would cycle on and off every 20 minutes and Charles I hate load controls from the utility companies too but I am all for the consumer having the ability to do things like that. And yes charles they can help in a bind but if you have sliding windows they never completely seal right on thier own you have to use weather stripping and gorilla type tape. And Charles since you are, a trane guy why don't you push trane to offer the trane resolute here in the US instead of Canada only it's a side discharge condenser unit but it offers the inverter technology without it having to be a communicating system and requiring a propertiary trane thermostat yes it's a rebadged gree flex but it also has copper coils still and might be another option for your custumers and easier on the tech to service just my thoughts and charles I hate those t6 honeywell thermostats too I saw you had to replace in your other video they should just buy the Honeywell rth 9585 wf smart thermostat and I will even take that over those ecobees.
Just my thoughts and yes I know those badly designed coils that seems to be problems with American companies are money makers but they also hurt the hvac techs wallet and reputation where the quick ones like service contracts are the money makers because you can do more custumers per day and installs instead of spending a lot of time replacing a defective warrenty part.
