Fancy over complicated BS! The older equipment will always be better and more reliable!

What that customer was told they'll save by buying this overpriced and over engineered pos will be negated quickly in the repair cost.

10 year parts warranty covers that. The problem is finding someone who isn't 50 to work on them. Grandpa's will never like change from "the old equipment", and will always complain instead of studying up. The younger generation has the ability to study up but won't do any hard work that comes with it.

I've seen guys on pressing those keypads like they are keyboards... keypads can't take the abuse. It's frustrating as hell sometimes getting them to respond. Just think one good voltage spike or brown out will probably fry the electronics. There's too much b.s going into these units.

Soon they’re gonna be as complicated to work on as Tesla’s. They’ll force us to be employed by the manufacturer to be allowed to work on them.

Samsung LG and Bosch is doing it like that, so I wouldn't doubt it if they all follow suit at some point

They will have rechargeable batteries one day, or a solar panel that powers it.

Why would a customer want all that bs on a unit when they don't even have a clue what it is for. Just give me the simple version unit, thro all that tech bs in the toilet.

Miss those days where I could convert those high price ecms to a regular PCM motor😅 bypass all the new stuff

You still can, you can get boards now that will swap a ecm to good ol reliable psc motors. Good to have one on the truck for them weekend calls.

At least the attached troubleshooting guide should have all the acronyms fully spelled out and operation modes so the service man knows normal/abnormal operation while troubleshooting.

In your opinion, what would you rate as a good, better, and best for brand or system selection on a split system with a gas furnace? I respect your opinion and appreciate your expertise. Thank you for all the education you have provided me through your videos!

    • @myHVAClife

Thank you! I will always recommend a 2 stage furnace, GOOD 16 seer ac with 2 stage furnace, BETTER 2 stage 18 seer a/c with 2 stage furnace, BEST duel fuel 2 stage 18 seer heat pump with 2 stage furnace back up. Best advice keep it simple so it can be fixed same day if you have a problem. No one keeps parts on the truck for these over complicated communicating systems.

@@myHVAClife That makes a lot of sense. I like the dual fuel option for their "best" and honestly have not thought about that as an alternate offering. Which brands do you lean towards? Thank you!

Too much engineering and not enough testing before releasing product. The quest for efficiency can create systems that are too easily be interrupted by inconsequential faults.

  • @gabrielstern4992

Exactly right Charles my home built computer I built myself is less complicated then this.
And Charles I said it before and I will say it again gree makes the flex unit which the condenser design is more like a mini split and has copper coils for the condenser and air handler and has inverter technology and variable speed motors and is still simpler and more like the old equipment and here is the thing trane actually carries that same gree flex model rebadged as the trane resolute but it is only available in Canada so think of that this way Ted cook set up the trane Mitsubishi mini split at his house right so why the heck is trane not offering the trane resolute here in the US.
So you can offer them to your customers as a less expensive option and still have the technical support of trane and it's not just trane it's Lennox diakin who owns Goodman now the diaken fit is only available as a communicating system with the same overly complicated propertery stuff.
That needs to change or people are going to keep wanting to go with foreign companies same with carrier.
For goodness sake you should be able to just be able to sell a system have it hold up for 10 20 years at a, reasonable price with inverter technology that's still simple to service so you can spend your time just servicing the equipment without it bieng communicating only or so properteiry and complicated as you and other techs make more money doing simple maintenance and service VS needing to work more like a computer tech and even most computer guys and techs who spend all day building computers and servicing them and programing them would find this unacceptable.
Maybe if those guys subjected them to real world brutality tests with guys like you subjecting these systems to extreme abuse in thier shops things would change.
You know so sick of corporate elitists who think expensive means better not always and that is in referance to the guitar center ceo too come on America get your act together and actually get in touch with people who actually use the equipment and what the consumer wants and can afford same thing with actaul hvac techs as the last thing a custumer wants is for the system to constantly break down and not work when it's 100 degrees outside or 20 below zero.
Sorry for my rant but needs to be said because when thier system does not work often the custumer will take it out on the guy who sold them the system when it's not always his fault or the installers fault.

The worse part is you have to pay an arm and a leg for something that’s going to break in a couple of years.

Once again the manufactures want the contractor and customer to due the research and development on this crap. Why don't everyone stop with the acronym stuff and just say the name of the part. More laziness.
