Love this movie. It's crazy how most of these directors went to direct big movies later on. The new hellraiser, X, Pearl. In fact, the party guys in the final segment are the directors of the new scream lol.

Just from their reactions from the first short (paired with every other vid I've watched of theirs) I can confirm I'd trust both Cody and Sergio with my drink. I can really tell how wholesome, kind souls you guys are
No matter the hate the movies after this one get I still love them. Some are scary some are disgusting and some are ridiculous, to me that's the charm of the franchise
Yeah, the poor girl went from nearly getting r-worded by some gross dudes to probably waking up traumatized after seeing a bunch of dead bodies, I bet... 0_0
Emily is basically an incubator for aliens and James is working with them. the other girl James talks to lets us know that the aliens are using other women as incubators as well. the final segment features a lot of hidden things happening in the background. from ghosts to door moving. an alternate ending has the guys breaking the windows and getting out before the train hits them. the sequel reveals a little more as to what the tapes are doing to people while they watch them. the ghost girl seen in the mirror is also seen earlier, probably twice. one of those time you missed her. when you first see her, she's the thing that slams inside that cabinet window then the camera pans over to the staircase. at the foot of the stairs you can see the girl standing there and she back away slowly in the darkness. Also.. they made a full movie based on the succubus from the first segment. The first 3 VHS movies are considered the real trilogy. 94 and 99 aren't really connected and don't feel anything like the first 3. Even the 3rd one feels different. The wraparounds in the first 3 are connected but 3 takes it to a different place and kind of confuses things. After 1 the movies got shorter, probably cuz they felt the first one did feel like it dragged. the 2nd movie had one story removed.
I could never ever ever ever ever ever watch this alone or with someone, I would just get up and leave.... I applaud Cody for hanging in there through it. 🙃
The Amateur Night tape was developed into a full length movie concept but I can't remember the name of the movie or if they kept the same name. All I know is they made a movie out of it.
I feel sad for the succubus for Amateur night. I mean she didn’t seem to be hunting for a mate but desired one, and being rejected was messed up. Yeah she killed but that’s because those guys messed with her.
I think my favorite tape was the Emily one, it had the most scares for me and my least favorite was the glitching one, wasn’t a fan of it. Loved your reaction!!!

The first time I ever watched this, there were like 7 of us, drunk ASF after a party, maybe 1 am? Our roommate pushed for this movie for LITERAL HOURS so we eventually watched it, only for him to dip out maybe 15 minutes in, and we didn't notice he never came back until the house with the hands. We legit thought he Ring'd us, genuinely the most terrifying experience of my life 💀
The fear is real guys, it's like the ultra-instinct version of anxiety and paranoia 😅 That being said you're right, you definitely need good peeps around you when it hits.

The thing that put me off VHS is how the male characters in nearly every clip are all awful people and treat the female characters like garbage. Unless it's an intentional running theme with a message to convey, it just comes across as bruh directors writing bruh horror.
I’m just glad that these “bruh directors” went on to make great movies after this, like X (in the case of Ti West, the director of the “Second Honeymoon” segment).
@@MovieFan1912 I'm not saying there isn't room for growth in a person. Ti West has certainly improved (although X may not be the best example in this context, the writing in Pearl was definitely a lot better, and I know much of that was through collaborating with Mia Goth, the lead actress.)
I've always found the found footage horror genre very boring and uninteresting, but the VHS movies have always been good. Maybe because they do shorts and not a whole entire movie?

If you're interested in the character Lilith from amateur night they made a movie out of that segment the story lines made up though I don't think it ties into the VHS film also the same actress came back for it as well the movie's name is siren I liked it cheesy good time but some parts was kind of intense.

In Amateur Night I was really shook because that Succubus Lily, acts nothing like a succubus. At least from what I’ve heard in the stories and various games, shows, movies, and other media. Yes she has claws, fangs, wings, super speed and strength, but she shouldn’t have a huge slit in her forehead, weird scaly feet, and have a lack of vocabulary or knowledge of how humans act. She acts way more like a wild animal trying to find a mate by force than a prostitute who wants to find someone to have “fun” with. The type of succubus I know has horns pretty demonic eyes, and a tail. Has full vocabulary, and knows how to properly lure a man into her clutches. This THING is more like just a demon of lust or a cryptid of unknown origin like a Skinwalker or something
Lump under your skin is a waste of a doctor's time. Not because it is always benign but because the human body has those constantly without us noticing. Under skin objects are so common that when I was trying to get a lead bullet extracted they didn't believe me even with X rays, just thinking it was bullet shaped and refusing to extract... meanwhile I had moved to there in part because it was safer and had the medicine etc I needed since I was shot through my abdomen and it ended up under my skin on the other side. Eventually my lead poisoning became super obvious, the skin around the bullet was a dull red/brown tone, I'm white btw. and I had to demand that an extraction be performed. One year after extraction and I am still in recovery after three years of lead being fat soluble and incidentally lead poisoning causing weight gain....

It wouldn't be strange for a Latino to have a shade of brown for example and even though they aren't literally red, native North Americans are referred to as red skinned.... I think that was self explanatory. You have to know the normal coloration to be able to tell if something is strange after all.
