As much as this movie still freaks me the hell out it was the second movie I remember vividly that actually gave me nightmares and made me afraid to sleep alone and stuff. Definitely give it a watch
This is one of my favorite horror movies of all time. I understand that classic or “elevated” horror movies are frequently seen as the best the genre has to offer but this movie is so much more than people give it credit for and one of the most scary and most exhausting horror experiences I have seen. Quarantine sucks tbh in comparison. Absolutely LOVE that you’ve now seen and reacted to this, loving all the consistent variety provided on the channel recently. Edit: Also, this movie feels extremely real because many of them weren’t actors, even our lead is a news reporter by trade not a traditional movie actress. Similar to how they filmed Alien they also told them as little as possible for genuine reactions.
How does quarantine suck compared to this? Quarantine was a shot by shot remake. Even the dialogue is 95% the same. The only difference is REC was demonic possession and Quarantine was mutated rabies. If the remake sucked then so does REC
@@sugarbomb1346 Rec is great because it’s original, using better technology and lighting takes away from a lot of authenticity. Quarantine just repeated what didn’t need repeating.
@@sugarbomb1346 No. There are tons of nuances that make a crazy amount of difference in the actual end product of the movie. If you can watch both of these movies and say "these are the same" beyond just stealing the entire plot of the original - then idk what to tell you.
Between this and 28 Weeks Later (which came out the same year as this movie), REC had the better and most tense atmosphere because it starts off nice and then takes us on a descent into hell
that little girl got some great acting skill, the moment she becomes demon she got that scary look in her face, it was so peaceful and calm when she stared at the cop.
So, Tristana Medeiros is played by Javier Botet, who has Marfan syndrome (MFS), a multi-systemic genetic disorder affecting the connective tissue. Those with the condition tend to be tall and thin, with long arms, legs, fingers, and toes. He also appeared in movies such as Insidious: The last key, It chapter two, The Mummy, Mama, etc. I'm so happy you guys enjoyed it since this is my favorite horror movie of all time. Great video as always, keep it up!
ISN'T IT SOOOOOO GOOD??? I always get so excited when people record their reactions of it. This series has always been in my top fav franchises. And trust me, definitely watch 2 so that you get an explanation of the ending, and a surprise! It goes more into the demonic side of things. 1 and 2 are fantastic. I can never get over the fact how REAL and believable this film is? How did they make it so that you get SO sucked in you believe literally everything. It's just insane. ALSO! The guy at the end IS in fact the person that has been both The Crooked Man in The Conjuring 2 as well as Mama! So he is literally in a Guillermo film haha! Love how you were instantly like THIS IS SOME DEL TORO SHIT! 🤣 I'll be very (im)patiently awaiting the reaction to REC 2, please don't make me wait too long haha!
I'll be honest, I miss the found footage style movies, it feels like you're in the movie with the characters and all, Troll Hunter is also pretty good :) the sequels for these movies actually start to stray away from found footage styles out of nowhere and I didn't like that, others did but I didn't lol Also that final girl is practical, she was played by Javier Botet, who's this really slender guy, he was also the Crooked Man in the Conjuring, he was the creature in the Mama movie, he was Slender man, he says he has a disease called Marfan Syndrome that makes people lanky, skinny and felxible, it's nice to see him use that to be a monster actor.
No way that's so weird, I just watched these films yesterday and i was wishing you had reacted to this film and today you have. Massive fan of the reel rejects been watching you for years
my best friend watched it for the first time on tv (we're spanish) and she legit thought this was a real documentary about firefighters until way in the movie, specially because the main actress is also a tv host. me and my roomates still make fun of her for it.
This movie is one of my top 5 favorite horror films of all time. Such good intense buildup to hell broken loose, tension. cinematography alone. THE MUSIC AND ACTING. THE SETTING. simple but effective in the best of ways.
1st time i saw this when it came out i was confused with the little boy in the attic. on 2nd watch i realized he was another of the several experiments on children after they already had the girl
Love the reactions as usual ya'll! I HIGHLY recommend checking out Noroi, it's a Japanese found footage/mockumentary style horror movie on the opposite spectrum of this movie in the way that it's much more of a slow burner as opposed to an anxiety inducing non-stop stress fest, but it's equally as compelling and eerie imo!
Definitely one of the best reactions from the channel! Between Tara’s “what the fffuck was that” moment to Greg constantly turning into the flash anytime something crazy happened, I thoroughly enjoyed this! DEFINITELY watch REC 2! Would love to see your reactions to that!
I absolutely LOVE the sound design and sound mixing on this movie. It's so raw and jarring, and it really feels like the camera's microphone is barely able to handle the intensity of what's happening around them. Far too many "found footage" movies have grainy images but super-high-end sound effects that don't match at all, and it always pulls me out of the experience a bit.
Definitely one of the best horror movie out there. The setting, the acting, the characters, the interactions, were very good, believable and realistic as if you were there with them.
I just recently watched this movie for the first time in the dark and it buffered once and I realized I hadn't been breathing until I was waiting for the movie to load again. This is one I've always heard good things about but I agree it was such a surprise how phenomenal of a film it is. You and Tara had me cracking up the entire time.
As a Brazilian i love when youtubers react to movies in other languages besides english 😊 if you like this "real" feel with the acrors theres a Brazilian movie called Bacurau.
Couldn't see anyone mention it yet, but yes, the thin woman in the end is real. Played by Javier Botet who has Marfan Syndrome, he's in a bunch of horror films, like It and Conjuring 2.
Love the mention about the guy falling! I remember that shot so vividly when i saw this movie years ago... It's great to watch it again and see your reactions! The audio of the man yelling as he falls, just before you see or hear the smash of the body hit floor, is masterful. It's milliseconds but as a viewer, you can hear something just before the act itself. These intricacies are what makes this a great piece of work!
I watched this when I was work as a night shift hotel staff in a small hotel. A small historic hotel with all guests sleeping quiet and I'm all by myself in the front. This was so real, I remember looking around frantically the empty hotel whenever I heard like a tiny sound of a crack (old building, this happened A LOT)
36:17 It's real, in fact the name of the actor was Javier Botet who also has roles in a lot of horror movies like mama. There are making of videos of him having the makeup. As a huge fan of these movies, it's so great to see more people appreciating this movie. Watch REC 2 which is subjective but to me, it complements the first movie. Also, REC 3 is before and in between the events of 1. REC 4 is the direct continuation of REC 2 which I don't enjoy that much, but it's nice to see for the characters and horror itself, just the essence of 3 and 4 that are very different from their predecessors.
I love this movie because of that single question he asked. “How come they don’t send in more men to help?” That’s the F of it. Damage control. And containment. Which is why the American version was called quarantine. If you send one hundred men in one hundred infected could be coming out.
Rec has been one of my favorite horror zombie movies of all time. I've introduced it to all my friends both spanish and non spanish speakers. Many found footage style movies have tried to make it seem very real people but many miss it. One of the few ones I can recall who actually achieve this level of realism and immersion is The Blair Witch Project, another one of my favorite movies.
Fun fact the lead actress Manuela Velasco, is an actual reporter in real life. The directors wanted Angela to feel as authentic as possible. The initial scenes were shot in a real firehouse with real firemen
The girl in the end was actually practical. It was a man in head to toes prosthetic and make-up. There are quite a few making of videos on YT. It is unreal. A completely horrifying film.
What I find scary about the infection from Rec is that the reaction time depends on the blood type, like the doctor said. Sonif a person gets infected, it could vary from a few minutes to a few seconds, maybe even at an instant
I saw this movie in a small, "cult" theater in Brazil since it didn't get a big release. Man, every single soul in the audience was at the edge of their seats THE ENTIRE TIME.
The scares felt so intense and real because most of the time the director just gave pointers just to the people who needed them. For example told the zombies they had to run after whoever came up the stairs or just told the actress in the protag role that she has to go here or there but didn't tell her what was going to happen. Spoilers incoming: . . . . . . . . . . . The last scene in the dark? Nor the actress nor the cameraman knew what was inside the dark room, they were scared shitless for real.
@@DemiCalavera Juts makep up, not CG because Tristana Medeiros is played by actor Javier Botet, who has Marfan syndrome (MFS). He has also been in many other horror films . The dude is awesome👍
My friend just started getting into horror movies and she's a 20 something sheltered youth who didn't really dabble in the genre but after watching the It remake for the first time she's been easing in to the genre... but this was the movie that put her on break for a while and i was blessed with the privilege to be there when she watched it. My other buddy said it would be too much for her, but i grew up with the throw them in the pool and they'll learn to swim upbringing. Since she showed interested and insisted on watching it we did... and her reaction was delicious. As soon as the movie was done she went immediately onto Disney+ and "took a break"
I love REC! So happy you reacted to this! It's 99% a zombie movie until it delivers that last amazing 1%. Where can I suggest a film? There is no reaction on youtube to Russell Crowe's "The Next Three Days" It's my favorite film to recommend to people when I don't know what type of film they prefer. A safe win
This movie was filmed in Barcelona, and every time I walk by the building where it was filmed, I think about this masterpiece. And for the question about the girl at the end, it's Javier Botet. He is a Spanish actor who does weird looking characters, Thanks to his peculiar physique, he has done Guillermo del Toro characters and other horror films.
The creature at the end of the movie was a mix of practical and digital effects like in Jurassic Park. The man who played the monster said he had a lot of fun doing it.
This is one of my favorite movies, the cast is amazing, the monster at the end is not computer generated, the actor is called Javier Botet There are 4 movies in the series and for me 1 and 2 are the best, great reactions guys 😁😁
WOW.... What a trip! And what a thrill that was. An example of what a horror movie is ment to be.... REC is superb in everything! What a pressure that was as horror movie.
I would love to see you guys react to the whole series of Rec movies (some are better than others). It’ll be a good time for you guys. And in the second movie you get to see what happens to Angela after she’s dragged away (I believe it’s in two)
The demonic girl of the end is called "la niña Medeiros" (Medeiro's girl) and is played by a spanish actor that have Marfan's syndrome, and has abnormaly long legs and arms. He was characterized, not CGI.
The reason why the actors' reactions seem so genuine is because they hired improve actors and gave them an uncompleted version of the script, so they don't know what is going to happen most of the time. Also, Pablo, the cameraman, is actually played by the director of cinematography
I really appreciate when you do reactions to movies I haven’t heard of, because then I’ll go watch it, then come back and watch your reaction, it gives that feel of what Tara was saying about sharing it with your friends. I was enthralled and thought it was incredible well made, and so I was pumped to see what you guys would think! Great reaction, this was awesome

Yes. REC 2 expands on the story and is great - and is WILDLY different from the American Quarantine 2.
What's so sad is that Hollywood saw this masterpiece and thought 'we can do this better, and without nasty subtitles!'. And then blatantly didn't.

It's not better than Rec but Quarantine is a pretty good remake in terms of remake standards.
This is one of the most unique takes on a zombie infection I’ve seen. The idea of it being a widespread demon possession is so interesting to me.
And then the American remake just made it a bio-hazard situation instead thus making the premise generic again

@@sugarbomb1346there are a LOT of nuances in the og that makes it better, Quarentine doesn't come anywhere close to the way they record in Rec
I'll be very (im)patiently awaiting the reaction to REC 2, please don't make me wait too long haha!
You guys should watch the behind scenes of this amazing movie. Most of it was slightly improvised
25:38 the way he screamed "Mierda" when the lights went out and that perfect cut had me laughing🤣
I'll be honest, I miss the found footage style movies, it feels like you're in the movie with the characters and all, Troll Hunter is also pretty good :) the sequels for these movies actually start to stray away from found footage styles out of nowhere and I didn't like that, others did but I didn't lol
Also that final girl is practical, she was played by Javier Botet, who's this really slender guy, he was also the Crooked Man in the Conjuring, he was the creature in the Mama movie, he was Slender man, he says he has a disease called Marfan Syndrome that makes people lanky, skinny and felxible, it's nice to see him use that to be a monster actor.
No way that's so weird, I just watched these films yesterday and i was wishing you had reacted to this film and today you have.
Massive fan of the reel rejects been watching you for years
my best friend watched it for the first time on tv (we're spanish) and she legit thought this was a real documentary about firefighters until way in the movie, specially because the main actress is also a tv host. me and my roomates still make fun of her for it.
the "where's Manu" scene is my favorite of the whole movie. the way Manu looks up at them infected is so unsettling
I'll never forget the first time I watched this movie. I was in the theatre with two friends and we were alone. It was... an experience.
Omg I loved noroi. Super creepy.
I love how visibly uneasy you both were during the end of the movie just shows how well it was shot
Honestly, Greg has the best reactions! Love how he gets into it and feels all the feels.
I started cracking up when he was basically pumping his arms like he was running away when he got startled/scared by a scene.
So, would they get their deposit back after all this or...?
""Como se llama la vieja de los cojones?"
the subtitles: "What''s her name?" xD
the subtitles are a lot more Family friendly
"Sigue grabando, por tu puta madre" 😂
REC 2 is a must. Expands the lore and actually explains a lot. 3 and 4 are mostly optional but cool on their own way, tbh.
The making of this film is nearly as good as the film. The rehearsals and moving about and how they did it, is incredible!!! Loved your reactions
damn guys you’ve been hitting us with a lot of movies i love it!
“How come they don’t send in more men to help?”
That’s the F of it. Damage control. And containment. Which is why the American version was called quarantine.
If you send one hundred men in one hundred infected could be coming out.
We appreciate the content on here. They’re always the best of quality.
Same
Fun fact the lead actress Manuela Velasco, is an actual reporter in real life. The directors wanted Angela to feel as authentic as possible. The initial scenes were shot in a real firehouse with real firemen
How was this a "fun fact"?
@@LowClassKluwn that's the definition of a fun fact. A little annecdote connected to the movie
@RnRnR In my John Cena voice "Are you sure about that?".
30:48 I think that’s one of the most effective jumpscares, period. Unsettling, not super fast, but still catches you off guard.
Guys I'm from Spain and Im very happy you see this film
I saw this movie in a small, "cult" theater in Brazil since it didn't get a big release. Man, every single soul in the audience was at the edge of their seats THE ENTIRE TIME.
The scares felt so intense and real because most of the time the director just gave pointers just to the people who needed them. For example told the zombies they had to run after whoever came up the stairs or just told the actress in the protag role that she has to go here or there but didn't tell her what was going to happen.

The last scene in the dark? Nor the actress nor the cameraman knew what was inside the dark room, they were scared shitless for real.
Is that computer generated or a real person? I'll just say that there are no cgi effects in the whole movie
@@DemiCalavera Juts makep up, not CG because Tristana Medeiros is played by actor Javier Botet, who has Marfan syndrome (MFS). He has also been in many other horror films . The dude is awesome👍
@@DemiCalavera There area lot of comment about the actor. His name is Javier Botet
I love both REC AND QUARANTINE!! The idea is very original and really creepy as hell 😯😯.
The building where this movie was shot in Barcelona has become a point yo visit for "terror pilgrims" around the world for years
I love REC! So happy you reacted to this!
It's 99% a zombie movie until it delivers that last amazing 1%.
Where can I suggest a film?
There is no reaction on youtube to Russell Crowe's "The Next Three Days"
It's my favorite film to recommend to people when I don't know what type of film they prefer. A safe win
32:54 he is the actor Javier Botet, he is slim because a syndrome. He appears in movies like It and It 2, slenderman and The conjuring 2.
This was such a fun film for me and my girlfriend to watch. We love the 1st two, still haven’t watched the 3rd or 4th one 😭
Dios mío, watching you guys react to Spanish content feels so surreal
This is one of my favorite movies, the cast is amazing, the monster at the end is not computer generated, the actor is called Javier Botet
There are 4 movies in the series and for me 1 and 2 are the best, great reactions guys 😁😁
WOW.... What a trip! And what a thrill that was. An example of what a horror movie is ment to be.... REC is superb in everything! What a pressure that was as horror movie.
Great Reaction Greg and Tara! This movie was so scary when I first saw it 👍
i Spanish and i am so happy you enjoyed so much a Spanish movie!!! it was an amazing hit and iconic here.
I would love to see you guys react to the whole series of Rec movies (some are better than others). It’ll be a good time for you guys. And in the second movie you get to see what happens to Angela after she’s dragged away (I believe it’s in two)
Excellent reaction, don't think I've seen you so scared! Now for Rec2 which carries on from the end of this one 😊
This is the only found footage movie that I've ever seen where I didn't feel like watching it was a waste of time. It's a fantastic movie.
The thing in the end is a real person! It's a guy, Javier Botet, he also played Slenderman in the slenderman movie and Mama in...well, Mama.
Tara looked traumatized throughout the movie 😭
AWESOME movie. The best Spanish horror movie to date, and one of the best horror/shoulder cam movies overall
Just when I needed something to watch, here you guys come! 😅❤
I love this movie, excited to see what you think! 😊
"La niña de Medeiros" is played by actor Javier Botet
This movie has no right being as fantastic as it is. It's like The District 9 of horror in my mind.
This reminds me a lot of two movies I’ve seen as a kid called Quaratine and Quaratine 2
3:06 it feels real because it kind of is. They used a real reporter and real firemen. That whole scene played just as it would have in real life.
The demonic girl of the end is called "la niña Medeiros" (Medeiro's girl) and is played by a spanish actor that have Marfan's syndrome, and has abnormaly long legs and arms. He was characterized, not CGI.
Hells yeah!!! I CANT WAIT FOR YOU TO SEE REC 2!!!
I watched that film in the cinema when it came out... by far the best found footage movie ive ever seen.
Still stands strong to this date.
Fun fact Pablo the camera man is, I believe the actual director for this movie
The reason why the actors' reactions seem so genuine is because they hired improve actors and gave them an uncompleted version of the script, so they don't know what is going to happen most of the time. Also, Pablo, the cameraman, is actually played by the director of cinematography
Rec 1 and 2 are masterpieces. The 3rd one is okay but the fourth one is an insult to filmmaking.
Oh man I hope y’all end up reacting to rec 2. For some reason I enjoy that one a little more.
Instantly clicked on this, movie is terrifying. can't wait to see you guys get into it 😂😂😂
I really appreciate when you do reactions to movies I haven’t heard of, because then I’ll go watch it, then come back and watch your reaction, it gives that feel of what Tara was saying about sharing it with your friends. I was enthralled and thought it was incredible well made, and so I was pumped to see what you guys would think! Great reaction, this was awesome
