They drag their pray into trees to avoid bigger predators looking to take their food from them , and they are quite formidable also , but they will not risk fighting a bigger cat like a lion or tiger for their kill , as animals won’t risk injury , but in some cases if they are hungry enough , I have seen leopards fight to keep that food source , and then they will drag it up a tree , like usual , lol

I love how each Panther (big cat) has its own traits:
Tigers (Panthera Tigris): Strongest, and biggest overall. Also the strongest legs.
Lions (Panthera Leo): Surprisingly, the Fastest, the only ones that actively work in groups and the most intelligent.
Jaguars (Panthera Onca): Strongest biteforce, pound for pound, and the best swimmer.

The largest carcass hoisted by a leopard according to a study was 166kg buffalo carcass. 50 kg is very easy for a leopard to hoist. Even female leopards are capable of hoisting upto 4 times their weight.

In that channel, u could see a video where leopard hoist buffalo calves, giraffe calves etc. Anyway, the report of 166 kg hoist was given in the study 'Caching reduces kleptoparasitism in a solitary, large felid'. The statement of leopardess capable of hoisting 4 times their weight was given in the study 'Leopard predation on giraffe calves in the Etosha National Park'. And there were some fights in everland that we have never seen so its ridiculous to make such conclusions. And those are captive lions and tigers. Fights between such specimens doesn't really prove much because most of the time these captive cats are docile and literally don't fight at their full potential, with thesame level of aggression and ferocity you will see from wild specimens. Those Everland videos were a bunch of silly short few mins of scraps that mean nothing. Most of the lions were asiatic and literally look asiatic being pitted with siberian and bengal tigers.

Seen an interview with this guy who had a back garden zoo in London before the British dangerous animals act 1976 and he was saying he was taking out a tiger cub for a walk, it was nearly full grown, and the local dominant dog seen it and thinking it was a dog ran up to challenge it but just as it got there realised it wasn’t a dog, then the tiger just swiped it with a paw breaking it’s neck and killing it.

A English hunter from South Africa wanted to settle a bet as to which would win the Grizzly or the lion. The fight took place in Yellowstone park. This appears to be a fair fight as that was the goal.

It was because it had accidently severed the lion's jugular vein with it's claw and that was from pure luck because a tiger wouldn't know where the lion's jugular vein is. Other people probably mentioned this but you forgot the snow leopard which is in fact in the panthera genus. I think a lot of people over look them since they can't roar, but they are probably one of the toughest animals on the planet. All cats are extremely tough. Very tough loose skin, powerful muscles, flexible and strong bones. But snow leopards take this to another level
You can find a video of a snow leopard surviving a 400+ foot fall down a mountain with a 200 pound goat repeatedly landing on top of him while he hits the rocks with full force over and over. He came out of that fall with nothing more than some bruises. It's insane how tough cats are, but more importantly, how tough snow leopards are

A tiger lives alone and hunts alone. Even minor injuries carry a life-threatening risk. Not being able to hunt means dying. That's why he avoids unnecessary conflicts if possible. When it's not possible, the lion's chances are very slim. Animals, unlike some of us, are not stupid. They know that there is no room for bravery and stupid risks in nature. They don't show off, they survive.

Basically, Jaguars are smaller version of tigers. They can Swim underwater, similar hunting techniques, same fighting techniques, but the sizes are the great differences. and Jaguars bites their prey on the head, Tigers bites their prey on the troat.
I have realised something about big cats that seemingly no one else has. The typical big cat Trafalger Square statue pose where the lion sits half down with it’s front paws straight out flat on the ground is because they can “hear” vibrations of potential prey walking by and pinpoint their position. I realised this watching a wildlife documentary where it was being filmed in IR and they pointed out an antelope with a white hot patch on it’s rear which they said was a muscle injury. Suddenly the lions singled the antelope out and grabbed it and the film crew were amazed they caught it saying they must have heard it limping but I think they felt it through their front legs.
They can also feel airflow with their whiskers.
I watch lions with superior disposition and courage than tigers to fight. Particularly, I like tigers better, however, I cannot help but recognize these admirable qualities of the lion. Sometimes I find tigers a little cowardly and scared around a lion. They avoid confrontation. Whereas the lion never runs away from a fight.

1. Lions are taller than tigers, sometimes exceding 10 inches. Clear advantage when fighting.
2. Lions have more bone density than tigers, which makes them more resistant to strikes and injuries.
3. Lions have longer and more muscular front legs, chest and front body part, which makes them a better restler than tigers.
4. Lions have more stamina than tigers, which allows them to last longer on a fight. Tigers would get weakend much before than lions during a fight. This has been seen on every fight between them.
5. Lions have mane, that protects the regions where tigers would attack, such as neck and throat.
6. Lions are much more used to fighting against other lions for females, food and prides than tigers.
7. Lions have wider variety of attack technics than tigers and yes, they also fight on the rear legs, thou it is not the most used one. If you see lions fightings each other, you could see how the also "stand up" to fight.
8. More important when fighting is: weight isn't always an advantage, when you fight a lighter, more agile, more determined, more experienced and more protected adversary.

@@Clarity0yx Most of the times, fights were held in arenas near the place the animals were captured. When tigers and lions were captured it was in Asia. So yes, a bengal tiger might defeat an asiatic lion.
But, when the events were held in colisseums, the lions would be mostly babary lions. And as you know, they were as large as the larger tiger.
There's much literature about it. It's important to read "not-aligned to either side" ones.

To pitch fight on such things as “muscular density” or that the lion is merely front-muscle dense and will lose out to the tiger in a fight by being less “heavy” is as ill informed as saying that some dude in the NFL weighing so much will beat Floyd Mayweather or Bruce Lee in a fight, because they are less “heavy.”
Once a person tells you that there is any cat on earth that will stand up to the African lion in a fight you can stop listening to that person right there; because they will simply quote “weight” as the overriding criterion. Yet the same smart folks will tell you that the tiger can handle the bear, even though the bear weighs more. Or, they will neglect to tell you that they are comparing the Siberian tiger’s weight to the Lion’s, and not mention that when it comes to fight and athleticism, the Siberian is a pussy cat compared to the relatively smaller bengal. The bengal is the king of tigers - even though it is much smaller than the Siberian, and even smaller than the African lion by a smidge. Animals don’t fight by weight - they are not sumo wrestlers. When you compare tools - canines, claws, intelligence, dominance, and athletic ability, no cat - including the tiger - comes close to the lion in fighting quality.

All websites claiming that Jaguars have the strongest bites (about croc level) are proven to be a hoax due to lack of data and the misinterpretation of Jaguars being the strongest cat "pound-for-pound". They're not, actually! The record belongs to Clouded Leopards. Also, any data that accurately shows a Jaguars bite also hinted that Tigers and Lions still bite harder.
Considering how the biggest specimens of Tigers and their averages are no more than 10-23% more mass than Lions. So, it's safe to say that is the gap of strength and power in favor of Tigers. This is taken from studies I've seen over the years, non-biased ones that either makes Tigers or Lions 2x or more powerful than their rivals as though they're kind of a super cat like their fanboys claimed.

The now extinct European lion was approximately one quarter larger than the African lion. Presumably the European lion mostly hunted in forests and could ambush prey whereas the modern African lion has to be light enough to chase down antelope and strong enough to kill buffaloes.

Lions have been fighting their entire lives and are kicked out of their prides from a young age and have to fight for themselves as nomads. The legit have to fight so much males live to around 10 yrs while females 15. Even if a lion successfully manages to take over a pride it still has to defend it against other nomadic males. So since a lion has been fighting for its whole life its clearly the better and more experienced fighter. In fact, they've been even been evolved to have manes solely for the purpose of fighting. Wonder why tigers have no manes? It's because they rarely fight and mainly flee from confrontations they only fight if forced. It's like saying a person who goes gym for many years and is extremely strong (tiger) will win in a boxing match against mike tyson (lion). Another thing is, the tiger will be able to land more paw swipes but it will be less powerful than a lions. A lion will land fewer paw swipes but since it swing with its whole body and put all its effort into the paw swipe it will be stronger than the tigers even if the tiger does have the potential to land a stronger paw swipe. Tigers aren't a whole lot more agile than lions so that's not a major advantage. Also lions and tigers have around the same biteforce so not much advantage to both sides. So tigers don't rly have much of an advantage over lions except for being bigger but lions have a major ADVANTAGE over tigers being the most definite, experienced, better fighter. The lion would win in most fights.

No wild tiger has ever been weighed anywhere close to 300kgs by a reliable source.
The heaviest wild ever weighed and documented in a scientific book was a 272kgs lion with an empty stomach. Recently there was news of a 309kgs lion though which if we correct his stomach content, should be around 280kgs.
As for averages, it'll depend on the sample, a big enough sample of the largest tiger subspecies, the bengal, will have the cat as below 200kgs ( it's some 4kgs heavier than the southern african lion ) as for the Siberian, it averages 189kgs if we exclude sick individuals and 174 otherwise. It's a little bit lighter than the southern african lion.

And the weight numbers given for the lions is grossly low , 150kg is quite small even for an Asiatic lion whereas a 300kg tiger is almost non existent in the wild today
Well this channel is super biassed to tigers. All max weights he attributes to tigers where the largest specimens but he seems to tell that they always have that weight in average. As you said some hunters also claims the same wieghts for lions but due to biasses or ignorance it was swept under the rug

Tigers might be dominant and stronger physically, but Lions have strongest bone density than Tigers that can withstand any injury, Lions have greater stamina and endurance, wouldn’t give up, they’re strong enough to fight Tigers and they aren’t afraid of Tigers, which is why you often see Lions dominate territory in captivity together with Tigers, to let them know that Lions are boss. Its the mindset that Lions have.
You don’t have to be biggest, strongest, fastest to be King and that what makes Lions king because of their fearless attitudes.

Siberian tigers don't grow up to 300 kg, they grow up to around 215-230 kg on average, considering they're not the biggest tiger species currently. Jaguars grow up to 100 kg average and leopards up to 30-40 kg.

@Husayn Maroof Wahla Check out Siberian Tiger Project which is an association that protects the siberian tiger against traffic and any illegal stuff in general (thanks god they exist), they have weighted a lot of healthy tigers and they stablished male siberian tigers weights 160-190 kg on average, biggest one currently was 206kg. Right know biggest tiger is bengal weighting about 200 kg on average.
A wild tiger that weights more than 230kg is a hell of a big tiger, and a wild tiger that weights up to 300 kg is FAAAAAR from being an average (probably there is no wild tiger weighting that much right know, not even close).
Saying a tiger weights up to 270 kg on average is like saying a human is 110kg on average too.
