Certainly a bare-handed human vs ostrich fight is different from a spear-wielding human vs ostrich. Therefore intelligence has at least some impact. Not to mention fights which include tactics, including group tactics. A group of humans with melee weapons can't beat a herd of bison unless they drive them off a cliff, which is a common tactic. See bullfighters for a 1 v 1 comparison. In short, the gorilla just doesn't have enough intelligence to make a difference, but it can matter in a fight, even though creatures lose some of that intellect when they fight.

Silverback could most likely take on a male Lion and survive and maybe even kill, as Lions have weak rear quarters and so can't fight on two legs, which would be a huge disadvantage against the Silverback. It's actually a pretty big misconception that being an herbivore means being more docile or unable to fight. Carnivores may need to hunt and kill to survive, but herbivores need to defend themselves against those kinds of attacks. Carnivores hunt for a meal, but herbivores are fighting to survive. Herbivores like hippos and water buffalo kill way more humans a year than any carnivores. Gorilla can't beat a Big Cat In physical fight. You just can't Imagine the power and brutally of Tiger from the camera. Trust me it has got those vibes, I have seen in one Reserved forest.
Most people here underrate intelligence. It puts us humans on the top of the food chain. A gorilla would not fight a big cat anymore directly than a human would. It would rely on outsmarting them, and in this regard, I think it would be on even footing when it comes to a fight. Besides, no two creatures this powerful ever go head to head. A common strategy for predators is to avoid potentially fatal hunts. In the animal world, there are no hospitals, and even a fracture can prove fatal when the predator, although the winner is too incapacitated to hunt and will die of starvation. A severe gash can lead to infection, hemorrhage, and a slow and excrutiating death. Which is why big cats are ambush predators despite their imposing size. Ambush minimizes the risks during a hunt.
Good points. A gorilla is also NOT an aggressive animal and will avoid a confrontation even with us if possible. and lets face it this creature is stronger than an elephant. These animals would avoid one another because a big cat would know better than to tackle something this imposing. Remember that a gorilla is NOT gonna back down he'll stand his ground so its definitely better to back off.
Gorillas are kinda gently creatures, unless pushed of course.. But even a Jaguar with its 1,500 PSI bite force would be grossly too much for any Gorilla..
You forgot to mention that there is only one recorded case of a gorilla killing a jaguar, and houndreds of cases of a jaguar killing a Silverback, not even counting ambushes Also Gorillas are terrible at strategy
So a tiger can defeat a gorilla but a male lion and gorilla fight would be a draw? Im sorry but that's ridiculous. Lions are so underestimated these days. A male lion can easily defeat a gorilla.
Male lions can be cowards if theyre alone though...theyd much rather hunt in a pack, if theyre nomadic, they will prey on the feeble, old and injurd dand the slow or the dead or steal other animals kills... Soon as a silverback stands its ground and charges, or even warns the big cat... the cat will fuck off.. Of course if the cat finds a way to explout any weakness, and thinks its got a chance to succeed, then it will take that chance.. but they wil lavoid fights with large prey to avoid injury
Why Don't you accept the truth and always try to compare lion with tiger.. Lion is comparable with the bengal tiger, but Siberian tiger is way more large and strong.

Gorilla is massively overrated, its never done anything to prove its as strong as what it gets hyped as, atleast lions have evidence of their strength.
Yup, I said the same thing months ago,….and got slammed. Said it here, show me proof, real video, that supports a notion a gorilla has the strength of: 10 men….can lift twice its weight….can lift 10 TIMES its weight! I challenged people to prove it, one guy responded with, “ I’d like to see you go against a gorilla “ - which I guess is his proof of their exaggerated strength?….and another guy referred me to a gorilla running into the glass at a zoo and cracking it - again I guess that’s the proof of the strength claims?
@@chr970I understand your point, but then again, there is no documented proof of a gorilla going up against a big cat. Some claim leopards “hunt” gorillas and that’s 100% false as there is no footage of such attack. The strength of these apes can be assumed by the ease of picking up heavy logs as if they were plastic straws when an average human would probably hurt its back attempting to lift it up. Also some claim a gorilla’s punch to the face would nearly decapitate you, but all we ever saw in footage of gorillas fighting each other were just arms swinging around. So it all comes down to assumptions. I wouldn’t bet all my savings on a gorilla killing any wild cat, but then again I wouldn’t bet it on a tiger or lion killing a gorilla either. Though the thought of teaching boxing to a gorilla and how to lift weights is a total mind fuck, considering their natural strength.
@@bestgtor22gorilla might have a chance against a jackal, coyote or wolf, but against any bigger cats, there is zero chance for survival, even against a lynx.
Yeah, gorillas aren't wired as assassins like cats... This is why a dog has too be much bigger than a cat to have half a chance in combat... Cats are evolved to kill.
I’m sorry the Gorilla has no chance against a Lion or a Tiger. Gorilla strength is impressive all their tools are for intimidation but the fact the Leopard fight and eat Gorillas and there have been records. Imagine a Lion or Tiger. Especially Big Cats taking much stronger and bigger animals. We always compare a Gorillas to humans that always look impressive from our perspective, and plus Big Cats are more experience when dealing with deadly creatures while the Gorilla doesn’t really have a threat besides Leopards
If a Gorilla can be killed with his better smell and hearing than humans it makes me wonder how low our chances are against a leopard. I guess the only way of possible survival is if you have something sharp to hurt it nose or a gun but a hand to hand combat and maybe even with a knife or spear it would still be very dangerous is guess.
Just a small note, that the video shows the Jaguar (Onça), that is significantly bigger than the Leopard...A gorilla would put a fight against a Leopard and sometimes wins, but against a full-grown Jaguar I don't think so...
I think even jaguar would beat Gorilla, cause big cats rely on hunting and fighting, Whilst gorillas are not. They have strength doesn’t mean they are good in fight.
Some recorded cases where leopard hunts gorillas, but according to the narrator lions will have a tough time, starting to think lions isn't one of his favourite animals.
Yeah even people defending the gorillas, there has been like one case where leopard and gorilla(male) both killed themselves but for the most part, leopards have the advantage. This channel sucks.
All three of these cats are ambush predators. They attack from behind without warning, clamping on with their claws and inflicting lethal damage with their jaws. Attacked in this way, the Gorilla can't fight back. A face-to-face confrontation would give the Gorilla more of a fighting chance but the big cats have little reason to engage prey head-on.
I like the Gorilla's chances better than yours or mine in an ambush. The Gorilla's got a greater bite force & stronger could easily pick up the tiger. But the tiger has claws where the gorilla doesn't. So I would say the tiger most likely wins.
Is the gorilla facing the lion after the tiger fight? "The gorillas remaining arm"? Definitely exaggerating the intelligence of a Gorilla. even the smartest human with, no gun, loses completely to any big cat. Big cats would just need to get 1 good scratch or bite and the gorilla bleeds out to death. Gorilla would smack the cat but unless that blunt is concessive, it wont matter. Gorilla has little to zero chance against most big cats.
Agreed. Two wildly exaggerated things about the gorilla: 1. It’s intellectual capability. Compared to what? 2. Even greater exaggerated and accepted quality is it strength. I got ripped before saying this but I’ll say it again; there is ZERO evidence anywhere a gorilla can left twice its body weight let alone 10 times. None. Strong yes.

Gorillas certainly have enormous physical strength. but big cats are larger than gorillas, tigers have more muscle mass even at equal weight. The muscle structure of cats is different. the reaction and speed of cats is on a completely different level, not to mention their claws and teeth. The gorilla has a chance only against the jaguar.
Before ungulates & fawna prehistoric big cats preyed primarily on hominids & apes . Although the male Lions usually dominates other big cats I feel Tigers Jaguars & especially Leopards would have more success as they are solitary ambush predators . But big Cats have teeth & claws which means most likely all 3 big Cats would prevail against a Gorrilla .
Lion or Tiger would very much more than likely gonna win against a Gorilla fight as they have the claws and jaws, and Gorillas are not normally fighters. Possibly if a Gorilla could hold either down with its powerful arms and beat them, but it’s HIGHLY unlikely.

Even though gorillas are the strongest primate, and are very intelligent animals. Big cats, such as lions, tigers, and jaguars have more muscle than gorillas, which in combat intelligence doesn't really matter because big cats are very intelligent too.🦁🐆🐯🦍
Gorillas are stronger pound 4 pound.....big cats have more fast twitch muscles...big cats will usually win more so bc of their experience fighting as a predator n agility. Put a bear vs ANY big cat and he'll win..not just a grizzly bear but most bears that are similar size to a big cat.
@@thediaz07 The bear, although omnivore, it's prety much a predator to. They hunt everything, including large animals. Also it has about the same natural weapons arsenal (large claws to) and has a very unusual pain tolerance. Yeah, a bear, form the carpathian bear (included) size above, has the most odds in a confrontation with the biggest cats. Even a black bear (one of the smallest) could hold the ground.
I thought this video was comparing the strength of the Gorilla versus the strength of the other big cats. This is more of a hypothetical what if a Gorilla and a big cat fought. Kind of misleading.
The big problem with the gorilla is that despite being very strong, it does not know how to make accurate blows, you just have to see the fights it has to realize that it has not knocked out any other animal with one blow, at least not in the videos, the lion or tiger would win most of the time.
Compared to big cats, I say the gorilla is stronger. Since gorillas can lift like 10 times their body weight, and a male gorilla can get up to 500 lbs, that means they could lift 5,000 lbs. That's a car! Keep in mind that the biggest of these big cats is the tiger at around 680 lbs. So a 500 lbs male gorilla has the strength to lift seven tigers. Now imagine one big cat fighting something that, can lift a car and has a bite force as powerful as them, and has opposable thumbs.
The problem is the tiger, and the lion each have claws which are all knives, and that’s the real issue. Their predators by nature where the gorillas are not.
Yeah but tiger is much more agile, far heavier, and most importantly, has sharp claws. They have killer instincts unlike gorillas. A herbivore has to be much much larger than a carnivore to defeat it, but gorillas are smaller than both lions and tigers. Maybe they can't lift as much as gorillas but they're overall stronger in a fight
Tiger isn't evading, it's standing up to the gorilla which stops the gorilla's charge, then the tiger lunges at the neck of the gorilla and kills the gorilla.
There is a reason big cats don't invade the forests and gorillas don't venture into Savannahs. Each dominate their own landscape. No one is truly dominant.
Leopards have been known to kill female or young Gorillas but there has never been an account of them taking a Silverback. They are just to big and strong for them

It's easy to say that however can the tiger take a punch from the gorilla? I don't think so, because gorilla are known for their grappling and ground and pound.
I think any big cat would beat a gorilla. Gorillas are like humans with tight skin which is easy to cut. The claws of any big cat would cut them to ribbons and clthe cat is a hypercarnivor and hunt for a living so a big cat would know how to kill far better than a gorilla. At the very least, a tiger would dominate a gorilla without much of a fight at all imo but i think a jag would be able to take down a gorilla too.

LMAO Even a large male African "Jungle Leopard" which weight 90kg, will kill a Silverback in nearly every case where it's a fight for death, at least, both die. But solitary hunters aren't hunting for their ego but for their survival so the Leopards will - like every other hunter, try to go the way of the easiest meal, weak prey. Otherwise they often come in the night and attack them in the sleep, leave them alone to blood and then feast on them. A Jaguar is a Leopard on steroids who would absolutely shred a Silverback if it's a fight for death. A healthy male Lion will kill the great Ape (if he has to) 10/10 times and a healthy male Tiger 10/10 times. There are many people who think a Gorilla is King Kong. Even the "most realistic" King Kong, from PJ 2005 film wouldn't be that strong as shown in the movie, there is something like square cube law. "The square-cube law would leave 2005 Kong slow and tired. Body weight increases with the cube of linear dimensions (“height”) but strength only increases at most with the square ( basically the cross section of musculature.) There are anecdotal reports of gorillas effortlessly tossing 100 kg masses like toys. Assume that was an oversized 1.8 m high 230 kg adult male gorilla. Lets call the 100 kg “toy” plus the 230 kg body an easily sustainable load of 330kg. Kong in the 2005 film is described as 25 feet or 7.6 metres tall. The linear upscale factor is 4.2 times. Kong's body weight should scale up 4.2^3 times=75 times. Thats 1.7x10^4 kg or 17 tonnes. Kong's strength scales up only 17.8 times. That means that a theoretical easily sustainable load would be: 330kg x 17.8 , or 5883 kg / 5.9 tonnes However Kong's own body mass outweighs that by a factor of 2.94. Scaling a gorilla up to 2005-Kong's size has the functional effect of increasing the tug of gravity by 75/17.8 = 4 times.. I could speculate that, with a heroic effort, 2005-Kong would be able to man-handle (ape-handle?) about a quarter of the 5.9 tonne load above, say a 1.5 tonne oversized bull, but I am losing confidence in my guesses by this point."

This is the first video I'de like to disagree with from @WildCiencias. It is highly biased. First off, let's not confuse hunting and fighting. Those are 2 different scenarios. The narrator talks a lot about ambush. That mostly work in hunting. In a fight both animals are aware of what's happening and both switch on their survival mode. A leopard or even a jaguar (even though jaguars don't meet gorillas in the wild) cannot beat a gorilla in fight. And why are we presenting an injured gorilla to a lion as though a lion is some underdog cat? What a disrespect to his majesty. For your information, Lions are better fighters than Tigers. Most conclusions are drawn from the fact that Tigers are bigger with longer claws. But, Lions are killers of beasts and the male lion spend most of its life fighting. Fighting Cape buffaloes during a hunt, fighting other Lions for territory and to keep his pride, fighting off annoying spotted hyenas. It never ends in a Lion's life. Tigers never get that kind of practice. Don't even tell me about Gaurs and Dingoes. They are nothing in terms of aggression to the buffalo and hyenas. A gorilla can easily win any fight if indeed uses its intelligence. With a punch force of 1300-2700 pounds, it's a knockout to any of those cats.
The Gorillas from the hidden islands beat any tiger or bear anytime. Yes, a tiger can defeat most gorillas with a few exceptions. A tiger stands no chance against a reported (1949) 12 foot, 4,500 pound gorilla found in Tanganyika or an even larger 50 foot gorilla found on a lost island in 1933.
Pound for pound the gorilla is stronger than most any other mammal.. the problem is, gorillas are not built for predation like bears and big cats. They aren't quadrupeds, they don't have huge claws, and their skin is more vulnerable to deep bites and cuts.
they aren't p4p stronger than any big cat actually. lions and tigers, despite being larger, have higher muscle mass and higher speed and agility. Moving heavier weight more quickly equals high power.

Also, like our meat suits, gorillas skin is more susceptible to cuts and tears with no elasticity to the skin, so the gorilla is more likely to bleed out in a drawn out fight with any set of claws and teeth from a big cat.
Exactly people never realize this!..a gorilla can’t survive a big cat

It's actually a pretty big misconception that being an herbivore means being more docile or unable to fight. Carnivores may need to hunt and kill to survive, but herbivores need to defend themselves against those kinds of attacks. Carnivores hunt for a meal, but herbivores are fighting to survive. Herbivores like hippos and water buffalo kill way more humans a year than any carnivores. That said, gorillas in particular, would lose against big cats in a 1 v 1 not because they're herbivores, but because they're generally a lot slower. @@Ntwadumela89

We now buddy and I totally agree. But this video is completely theoretically and just for fun.😉

Exactly. Gorilla fanboys watch a lot of King Kong movies which creates a lot of exaggerations.
Yup, I said the same thing months ago,….and got slammed.
The big problem with the gorilla is that despite being very strong, it does not know how to make accurate blows, you just have to see the fights it has to realize that it has not knocked out any other animal with one blow, at least not in the videos, the lion or tiger would win most of the time.
All three big cats would win a fight against a gorilla.

Even a large male African "Jungle Leopard" which weight 90kg, will kill a Silverback in nearly every case where it's a fight for death, at least, both die.
Body weight increases with the cube of linear dimensions (“height”) but strength only increases at most with the square ( basically the cross section of musculature.)
There are anecdotal reports of gorillas effortlessly tossing 100 kg masses like toys.
That means that a theoretical easily sustainable load would be:
330kg x 17.8 , or 5883 kg / 5.9 tonnes
However Kong's own body mass outweighs that by a factor of 2.94.

If we put our love for gorillas aside and take all emotions out of it, you’d have to be a complete idiot to think that a gorilla would survive an all out assault from a male Lion who would probably weigh around 500 plus pounds and regularly bring down prey 200 lbs or more than a gorilla, not to mention they sometimes tackle 2,000 lb Buffalo. Same with a Tiger, if it’s a Barbary lion, they might weigh over 600 lbs. if it’s a Siberian tiger, it might be over 700 lbs🤷🏼♂️
This shouldn't even be a thing. The gorilla would get whooped everytime
Gorilla loses even against a buffalo.
Tigers hunt and eat Bears, sorry Kong but tonight you're dinner.
I saw a video were lepard was taking impala to a tree and hyena jumped and hanged on the impala, the lepard lifted impala with hyena of the ground with just his neck, and hold them up for couple of seconds,,, I was so impressed . How strong they are, even lepard if it be determined like lion or pitbull, ( both have crazy game drive) would kill gorila. Tigers and other animals dont have a pride to feed them till they heal their wounds. Lots of times lepards just flee, so they dont get injured.
That's like fighting a cat that's 250lbs heavier than you
Pound for pound the gorilla is stronger than most any other mammal.. the problem is, gorillas are not built for predation like bears and big cats.
But a gorilla's skin is much thicker than a human's.
@@dariusbrock2713 This is simply not true. Naturalists (and primatologists) estimate a gorilla's "strength without aggression" to be superior even to that of a grizzly bear (again, relatively speaking). In terms of absolute strength, of course, the bears and the biggest of the felids have the upper hand.
@@osmanozcelik4591 . Gorillas are overestimated. They're not King Kong.
@@osmanozcelik4591 Nope, it's not. Stop inventing facts, their skin is very soft, at most it will be a little thicker! but nothing more. Even softer than that of a big cats, which have a more durable soft skin that can absorb and withstand more punishment.
For everybody in the comment section. The thing is to a Gorilla a lion is a bitch. The gorilla thinks he's a pet. The lion is afraid of him. Watch the right documentaries. People that have trained and worked with them. The story goes that the gorilla grabbed the lion and tossed him across the room and lions are way more fragile. It's like your dog biting your hand. Yeah it hurts but a quick jerk and your free.
Gorillas are not born to kill, big cats are.
This Chanel will always downgrade the lion n overate tigers 😂😂
