  • How many remember Evisu Jeans? the Japanese denim brand became known for its pristine crafted jeans and now-infamous squiggle-line seagull logo, both of which have littered the fashion history books over the years.
Ensuring that the brand’s impact on the streetwear community persists decades after its establishment.
They set a new standard on how jeans are made and what is considered quality when talking denim. They were huge in the early to mid 2000s, but took a bit of a hiatus as of late.
For a number of years, Evisu seemed to disappear as other brands took the spot they once had, Why is that? Lets find out.
I'm Nate the Great from Takeflight214.com and this is the rise and fall and rise again of Evisu jeans.

I have loved Evisu ever since some very few and bold Street Wear shop owners here in Norway took them in back at start of 2000(yes, believe or not; they came really early here in Norway, only the capitol of Oslo though). At first it didn’t really take off - but 6-7 years later it really got popular and bigger clothing shops took them in. I was early out and bought my first ones for 5-800$ a pair and then the “specialized” limited editions came; like the Daicock series, and a pair where the Seagull logo were made out of pure Silk. They even released a pair of Evisu DeLuxe that had been made with 24k golden thread. To my knowledge and memory Norway only took in 5 pairs of that one and I got it back then and still have them. I’m now 47 years old and I still wear my collection of Evisu’s with pride & joy. Mostly the ones with the original old Seagull logo but a few with the updated logo where the Seagull was more “pointy” and straight at the edges and ends. By the way, there is a method to separate the fake from the genuine ones👍
And the name Evisu is derived from the Japanese God Ebisu, he stands for prosperity, luck and wealth🌟

The fake market kills the brand

Copped an authentic pair of NO.2 recently and noticed the tag in the inside said YAMANE.. looked it up and thanks to this video was delightfully surprised. The seagull was hand drawn. Made in japan. Cant get more authentic than that. Thanks for the video keep up the good work!

There was a dude I use to buy Evisu everything, including bags... to think that it might have been fake absolutely kills me. I Google what happened to Evisu bc I NEED them back in my life....this video popped up.. God I hope what I was buying was real. 😢

I’m super into raw denim - currently wearing Tanuki EHTs. Evisu fades are totally badass.

@@muhdfitri5371 very good way. one of the best parts of wearing raw denim hard are the amazing, personalized fades you create from the indigo evacuating the warp yarn in high stress areas.

They once had a collaboration w/ Puma & sold their jeans @ the Puma stores. Was shocked to see them in the store, when I walked in, this was like late 2000s

I never stopped wearing "Evisu"!!! The one thing I don't do is follow style or what the majority of people are doing. Now, if everyone starts wearing "Evisu," I might slow down wearing them. Because I hate looking like everyone else.
PEOPLE ARE WEAK. & LOVE BEING FOLLOWERS. THAT'S WHY I DON'T FOLLOW WHAT SINGERS, MOVIE STARS, OR RAPPERS ARE DOING ARE ANYONE ELSE.

Actually the painting in the back was a copy of the Levi's who painted the stiching in the back pockets in the second world war in order to save thread because, you know, war times. And the name EVISU was actually EVIS (The Levis without L), in order to not get sued they changed to EVISU. All of those stories was manufactured in order to create a meaning to the name of the brand, the logo, etc, all fake, everything was based in a copy of Levi's. But I love the brand tho. Just found a pair of pants in a Brazilian thrift shop for 14 USD.

Got extremely lucky today... went to the local flea market (Called mitumba here in Kenya).
Never worn, admittedly not made in Japan. Selvedged denim, though.
Paid 550 Kenyan shillings! (US$3.84; according to my phone currency app).
    Happy days!
