It was a very, hot day in Philly at JFK stadium that day. Out of concern for the high heat and humidity they brought in some helicopters to hover over the stadium to create a breeze. Fireman also came and sprayed water like fountains up in the air and down onto the people on the “floor” seats. From up high we watched the steam rise off the crowd like a mist rising. From 7AM until midnight. Great show!!!
Robert - I was envious that you saw a particular concert in person, but it was roasting on that blistering hot day both on and off stage. Thanks for writing about your experience there.
Phil Collins not only played solo sets in both Wembley and Philly, he played with and/or drummed with Sting, Clapton, Led Zeppelin's reunion, and a few more artists during Live Aid. He was everywhere!!
Harri, it was perfectly fine that I had to submit this at least three times. Perhaps it was meant to be played tonight. This is one of my all-time Clapton performances. I lived in Philadelphia when this monumental two-country event happened. I am glad that you and others liked this one.
Just a phenomenal performance by Clapton and Collins! THIS is rock & roll, and as good as it gets. Thanks, Dave, for yet another great request, and to Harri, as always, for your reaction!
This is from the album BEHIND THE SUN. Best Clapton record ever,to me anyway. This is one of those albums, on wich every song is awesom. Thanks for playing. This was a joy. 👍😁💪
From 1985. Played in Live Aid in 1985. So, really a promotional stop for EC. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice album. The album 'August' is as well. But let's not go overboard.
That was just around 90,000 people who filled JFK Stadium in Philadelphia for the Live Aid Concert in 1985! I was at a YES and Peter Frampton concert at the same venue in 1976 where it was estimated that 120,000 people were in attendance! We were packed like sardines. By the way, I'll put my request in for Yours is no Disgrace. It's nine minutes of pure greatness from Yes!
Eric performed three songs that day and was of many highlights here and at Wembley Stadium. Just do a search on Live Aid and if you want, enter the artist's name.
Love love Eric Clapton!! I named my first son after him and my son was the same age as his son that he lost. I cried for him and thought it might be the end of his career but that was not the case. He continued to tour and make his music thank goodness!! ❤️
Probably one of my all time favorites. A deep cut that rarely saw air play on the radio back 'in my day'. I also do remember it being a big deal that Collins was going to fly from one continent to another to play on the same day. Watching Live Aid was one of those cultural events that had us kids say "where were you?". Captivating.
Live Aid, Farm Aid, and the like were hugely supported. Crowds were incredibly large. Lots of money was raised for those charities. You do not see people doing these today. Makes me sad to see we left those kinds of things disappear.
I am delighted that you enjoyed this one. BTW, Harri has played a number of Frampton songs. If you want to find them simply type in the search field Harribest Frampton. Have at it!
They travelled from WEMBLEY, LONDON, to PHILADELPHIA😂With the jet lag, You can see PHIL COLLINS, PLAYING WITH LED ZEP IN WEMBLEY, AND IN PHILADELPHIA WITH CLAPTON, THE SAME DAY😂😂😂😂😂WHO'S DOING THAT TODAY?😂I saw Clapton, in may 2024 in Paris, in my country France😂IT WAS MONSTRUOUS😂

Great song, thanks my friend from México :)
My what a fantastic pairing of two of the best. Another great one MrBZen and Harri.
CC - I am so glad that you loved this one; Harri's review was much appreciated.
Eric and Phil... Wow.
Like Bowie, Clapton had a rebirth in the 80's. They both became more video friendly with poppy songs and great musical support.
Clapton's albums Behind the Sun and Journeyman are two great albums that Phil Collins helped put together.
Wish it would Rain is another sweet tune by these guys. 😊
forgot ab this 1...a great 1 & your reaction ❣️ for awhile maybe 2 yrs everywhere I went hist greatest hits box set was playing...he's Gold✨️❣️

My best friend in those days also named his son after EC, Derek
That song is a guilty pleasure. I had the album, but recently traded it in as I have it on tape.
I had a roommate with a large dog named Clapton! Love Eric!
