Red Hot Mama's introduction is the spoken word lyric of the song America Eats Its Young, from the album of the same name released in 1972. The lady alluded to in this song and in the introduction to Red Hot Mama is America, our country, itself. I have been listening to Funkadelic for over fifty years now and to me this lyric, though shocking to some, is a perfect metaphor for what America was, what it became and what it still is. She is luscious and desirable, but engaging with her exacts a price to the unwary who fall under her spell. Funkadelic is trying to alert us to the danger. Read the words and think about them; heed them and remain free and alive.
So that is the way the album begins. The song and lyric that ends the album is even better and more important: "Good Thoughts, Bad Thoughts," which provides guidance and wisdom for how to proceed through life in a healthy and happy way. Read that and live by its words. "Travel like a King..."
Red Hot Momma as a song is a rocker, featuring the great Eddie Hazel, whom I met in a hotel room in Virginia in the 1970s and talked to for over an hour. The guitar playing, especially in the solos, is exquisite, funky, and rocking. One of my favorite pieces of music. Play on, King, wherever you are.

I *think* your difficulty in understanding the intro was the speed, accent, and possibly they are speaking Jive, an actual form of American English created by the Black community here in the mid 20th century incorporating various slang terms, similar to cockney English found in parts of London.

The guitarist is the Legendary EDDIE HAZEL. Listen to RED HOT MAMA+VITAL JUICES. it has another 3 plus minutes of HAZEL solo that did not make the album. If you are going down the FUNKADELIC rabbit hole...BUCKLE UP !!!!! Parliament is a WHOLE DIFFERENT sound with the very same musicians.
Faye, Funkadelic are INSANE live... loud guitars, horns, keyboards, 5 singers that can all dance and sing leads, with outrageous costumes and theatrics, With lewd rowdy lyrics..Just a great mix of rock and funk Watch 'em on youtube, or check thier LP "One Nation under a groove", or "The clones of Dr. Funkenstein" And a merry X_mas to ya, sweetie!

"That's a gross motherfucker" is something that George Clinton put in the recording when a 'Westbound records executive came in the studio and took off his shirt and George said that, the executive weighed about 400 lbs. so George said that ( this guy was known for doing really wild stuff) Anyways, *Red Hot Momma " is a " Funk Rock jam" from the 1970's and during that time, funk and rock in America were closer in musical taste because of the revolutionary 1960's. Funkadelics were a a underground cutting edge band. No disrespect but reality. " Sucking thier brains" is is basically being manipulated. Okay, in the song there is a verse that says "Taxi dancers and big time spenders" do y'all know what a "taxi dancer" is? Before you critique know what the hip lingo is about, Mollyfocks ( more Funkadelic speak).

The introduction regarding the mythical person 'Mother Nature' who doesn't really exist and who 'pimp instincts' as translated to the woman "Red Hot Mama" is how such a woman could play a man right out of his socks. The lyrics "Red Hot Mama, you're sure looking good to me" is the hook for many men. A woman's physical beauty can captivate and blind a man to her control and manipulation until he has lost everything including himself.....Funkadelic is the rock side of the funk with the emphasis on strong guitar riffs......Fay the other Funkadelic which you heard was more to the R&B side where the emphasis was on the drums and the bassline.....
