Actually that was Eddie Hazel ( who appeared on a few albums with Parliament even after Michael Hampton joined the group

Your impression of their style is dead on.
Yeah, some folk even huff gasoline, it’s hard to tell what this band was thinkin, it evident they had some actual musical talent but I think it’s also evident they didn’t have the musical genius of other stalwarts like the Commodores! I heard this when it was new, I just heard it again… I’m good for a long time now!
