Araki the creator of jojo says the reason why everyone is so buff in the first few parts is because that was a style during the time for 80's shonen heroes. It wasn't until the 90's is when he started doing his own thing.
The Street Fighter vibe is no coincidence. Several Street Fighter characters' designs are based on Jojo: Guile from Street Fighter II is a mixture of Stroheim from Jojo Part 2 and Polnareff from Part 3. His name is based on J Geil, Polnareff's arch enemy Rose from Street Fighter Alpha is based on Lisa Lisa from Jojo Part 2 Juri from Street Fighter IV is based on Jolene Kujo from Jojo Part 6 Several moves, poses, taunts, etc are also influenced by Jojo as the manga was loved by most of the development staff
Guile's hair was based on Polnareff, and the sprite artist flattened his hair as a joke but they kept it, and later realized it looks like Stroheim. and it's Jolyne.
There's also Gill from Street Fighter 3/5 based from Kars from JJBA part 2. Devil Kazuya is based from Start Platinum (search youtube for devil Kazuya from Tekken 1). Rose from Street Fighter is also partly based on Enya Geil from part 3.
It's also part of why Capcom was so gung-ho about getting the JoJo license from Shueisha to make their own JoJo fighter, and held onto that license well into the PS2 era to make the Part 1 and Part 5 games.

My first time knowing about JoJo's was thanks to an old friend who got a VHS tape of the OVAs, that first aired in 1993, by 2003 or about that time I got to watch it. This OVA only covered the 2nd halfo of the 3rd act, Stardust Crusaders. But from that day on, JoJo's was one of the most fascinating series I've seen, at the moment I am purchasing the manga in spanish (I'm from Mexico) and I am at half point of arc 7, Steel Ball Run.
JoJo is a very heavy pillar of modern and you could even say prior generation on japanese pop culture. A lot of mangakas and series itselfs make homages to it bc it is simply *that* popular
The first JoJo manga, Part 1 (all seasons are seperated into 'parts' for this series), was first published in 1987, a few months before the first Street Fighter game came out, so there are some JoJo influences in Street Fighter back then. The whole series focuses on the Joestar lineage and their descendents (which is why there are different characters every part), setting in different eras and decades apart, and in different parts of the world (from Europe, to America, to the Middle East, to Japan etc). And all of them are connected canonically, and each part covering almost every subgenre like action, horror, adventure, martial arts, comedy, science fiction, thriller, mystery, and slice of life. 'Part 1: Phantom Blood', 'Part 2: Battle Tendency', and 'Part 3: Stardust Crusaders' are old school shounen type of stories, and the following parts after them get even wilder and better with new characters and a 'certain type of power system' that has become very synonymous with the JoJo series. The creator, Hirohiko Araki, is a massive fan of Western music and artists, so a lot of popular and recognizable names would be familiar to you guys are present in the series like Queen, Led Zeppelin, and Earth, Wind & Fire for example. Currently, there are 9 JoJo parts so far, with the current one, the 'JoJolands' manga is still ongoing as we speak. So JoJo basically has been going for decades now at this point, and has influenced a LOT of manga and anime that came after it, not just Street Fighter. If you guys plan on starting on JoJo, you can either start with the manga or the anime, or even the anime OVA from the 90s, but the proper anime series from the 2010s are more popular so I suggest starting there, but it's your choice.
Jojos has multiple parts, in total there are 9, however only six are animated as of right now. Each part has a name like the first one being Phantom Blood, 2nd being Battle Tendancy, 3rd being Stardust Crusaders, 4th being Diamond Is Unbreakable, 5th being Golden Wind or Vento Auero depending on where you are, 6th being Stone Ocean. Then the manga parts are Steel Ball Run (part 7), Part 8 is Jojolion, and Part 9 is Jojolands
There's also part 7 ''steel ball run'' part 8 "Jojlion" and on-going part 9 "Jojolands" which havent been adapted into animation yet. Which are all set in an alternate universe.
14:49 My favorite part of these two openings is that the variant isn't even a remix of the orginal one; it's literally just the second half of the full song, lol
One of the Great Grandfathers of Manga, Anime and some Japanese Games, a true Classic that has technically not stopped, but after Part 6 the Manga went through a Reboot of sorts, that i know nothing about. Anyway, i really like these Openings, especially alongside the different Versions, which Speaking of which i really appreciate how Opening 12 Version 2 ends in the exact same way the First Opening did, very nice callback. By the way, how about reacting to my Touhou Openings Playlist at some point, could be quite the interesting experience.
Got this video recommended by youtube yesterday, subscribing and sticking up for the upcoming JoJo reaction, you guys will sure enjoy it. Its a great show and great for the channel. JoJo is divided in parts and its animated tilll part 6, upcoming part 7 is ranked as the second best manga in the website My Anime List, losing only to Berserk, so its gonna be fire and you guys need be there for it!
Jojo is considered a masterpiece, I truly recommend to you, maybe to react on the channel. The manga started in 1987, it's divided in 9 parts, it's still ongoing during these days and it's the 9th longest manga ever. It has influenced (and has influences from) any kind of pop culture, like real songs and bands, movies, fashion world, real events, ecc... Araki (the mangaka) has done many collaboration with famous brand like Gucci, Balenciaga, Vans Mercedes, other fashion brands and his works were exposed at the Louvre due to his amazing art style that is so recognizable and unique. The anime started in 2012 and ended in 2021 and for now it covers 6 of 9 parts. Basically it's the bizzarre story of the descendants of the Joestar family, which are all called with the nickname JoJo, each one the main character for each part. Every part is unique from the other but ofc they are all connected. Also the power systems and characters influenced so many other mangas and anime, like basically most of the battle shonen that uses some type of power (one piece, naruto, jjk, db, bleach, ecc). The whole jojo manga is longer than one piece and jojo part 7 is rated the second best manga of all time on my anime list. Truly recommended!
17:55 surprisingly not yet this is still one continuity, each different saga of the JoJo's bizarre adventure storyline is separated into parts following a different protagonist in different time periods and for the most part following one bloodline, Most actual spin-offs of JoJo's bizarre adventure are typically of the side characters also known as the lovely by the fan base" Jo Bro's . Fun little quirk is that each protagonist has the nickname Jojo based off syllables in there name and base on pronunciation in certain languages, ex Joseph Jostar, Jolyne Cujoh, Giorno Giovanna
You should watch JoJo. It's in my top 3 animes of all time. Though, start with Pantom Blood first as that begins the start of its long story as each season is connected.
Loved your laid back reaction, lot of people be losing their minds on the switch-ups but I loved how you appreciated the details and the music too. Please check out the main jojo themes, and the endings too, and do check out the show from start to finish, it's a really great piece of art!
My gateway was also the arcade game (dreamcast version is a port of it) and then I caught a random episode from season 2 on adult swim one day and I was instantly hooked. It has replaced DBZ as my favorite anime of all time.
I actually do like what they did in part 4 with Great Days (Breakdown) that they took the whole song, and the first part uwas used in the first intro, while the 2nd part was used in the 3rd
It's crazy that you mentioned street fighter since it was the source of inspiration for it. You'll see a lot of the ken, and ryu resemblance early on. What's even crazier is that the manga is still going today!!! We're on part 8 the anime is currently at part 6 stone ocean. Enjoy the ride ,if you do watch it start from the beginning. Everything is connected
The jojo's timeline moves linearly, part 1 starts off in like the late 1800 and then goes to the like 1910s-1930s, and each part follows a "Jojo" which is usually their first and last name have Jo in it, and they are usually apart of the same bloodline, the "progenitor" being the part 1 jojo, mainly just to clarify the like thought that time travel is involved.
Have not seen an reaction for these, but the ones im talking about, are the 3rd variations, the ones with actual audio along with the sfx, the first four and last four story openings of the current anime have those endings usually on the last episode per story arc season. ( Johnathan, Joseph, Jotaro, Giorno and Jolyn openings, but its like either episode 12 or 24, which ever is the last episode before the next opening.) Ive heard them on Netflix.
@@GalekCTo fair, the art style is very flashy and, for lack of a better word, "flamboyant." But is pretty cool once you dig in. Except for Jojo licking Dios face. I will never get used to that.
You guys should also check out more JoJo stuff, like their ending themes and fight scenes, you guys are in for a surprise. Also, still waiting for the Ultraman and Metal Heroes transformation, guys! Haha
when they asked araki what to use for openings, he gave them a list of "western" music like the bangles and savage garden, they talked him into them using it for ending credits instead... just think, there's an alternate universe out there where part 3 opening would be "Walk like an Egyptian"
My first introduction to jojos was my brother telling about a show I might like about ‘drag queens beating eachother up’, and now it’s my favourite series of all time
"What´s your first introduction to JoJo?" 99% will say: the memes! "ZA WARUDO!" "KONO DIO DA!" "ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA! MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA!" "OH MY GOHD! HORY SHEET!" "AYAYAYAYAH...!" "NIIICE!" "DAGA KOTOWARU!" "ZA HANDO!" "YARE YARE DAZE." and more.
each time theirs a new jojo isnt actually a spin off cuz their parts the story of jojo bizarre adventure is the story of different generations of the jostars family
27:24 again all the more reason to react to those dbz games and don't trust a playlist from yt you're better of looking up the wiki list of db fighting games then it on yt (for ex. search dragon ball Z budokai 3 opening( or opening movies)) and don't forget db raging blast 1&2
Some constructive criticism for y'all (I'm not trying to hate) but as a reaction channel there needs to be a bit more reacting. What I mean is yes I understand that you enjoy the style and music but aside from that and the fact that they could be good fighting game intros (I 100% agree) there wasn't a lot said. smiling and saying "that's cool" doesn't add much to the content. Usually I watch JoJo opening reactions because there is a lot of vague plot moments shown by the openings that are told without actually spoiling anything which makes them great videos to watch because it leaves the viewer speculating on what is going on in the story. It is fine to pause once in a while, in fact it helps to pause to prevent copyright striking as well, but more importantly it leaves time for you guys to process and comment on your thoughts at that given moment. I feel that there is a level of media analysis that you could do however without pausing and without speaking as much it is difficult for your thoughts that you likely have on the material to be shown. Again don't take this as me trying to diss your content because of the little that you spoke it was somewhat interesting, there just needs to be more moments where you do speak throughout the video, not only at the end. TLDR: pause the video to further explain your thoughts more often, speak more about the actual content and not solely about outside experiences.
They made a live action movie for Part 4, Diamond Is Unbreakable. Its got mixed reviews, would definitely be confusing to anybody that doesnt already know the series and changes a few things. I enjoyed it but its nothing compared to the actual manga/show
I love jojos, if you were to react to the series on UA-cam, I’d watch it. My favourite parts are part 6 and 4 but no one ever sticks around long enough to reach them which is a bit of a shame if you ask me
8:03 you're right you guys should bring them back and react to the dragon ball fighting from final bout to sparking zero(excluding xenoverse it's not a real op) I'll let you know same for the Naruto fighting games up to ultimate ninja storm connections
if we were to get a western live action movie/tv show of this franchise - i'd want Edgar Wright to be the director - just to give an idea of the possible tone of this series.

@@forsaken696 It means that if Jojo wasn't made then street fighter wouldn't have been made.
I also started with the Dreamcast game back in 14:01 _Nineteen Ninety-Nine~🎶_
17:55 surprisingly not yet this is still one continuity, each different saga of the JoJo's bizarre adventure storyline is separated into parts following a different protagonist in different time periods and for the most part following one bloodline, Most actual spin-offs of JoJo's bizarre adventure are typically of the side characters also known as the lovely by the fan base" Jo Bro's . Fun little quirk is that each protagonist has the nickname Jojo based off syllables in there name and base on pronunciation in certain languages, ex Joseph Jostar, Jolyne Cujoh, Giorno Giovanna
Or Josuke Higashikata. The "suke" can be read as "Jo" in kanji so you got JoJo Higashikata
You should watch JoJo. It's in my top 3 animes of all time. Though, start with Pantom Blood first as that begins the start of its long story as each season is connected.
Let's hope for Part 7 Jojo Steel Ball Run to be adapted around 2025 or 2026
Loved your laid back reaction, lot of people be losing their minds on the switch-ups but I loved how you appreciated the details and the music too. Please check out the main jojo themes, and the endings too, and do check out the show from start to finish, it's a really great piece of art!
My gateway was also the arcade game (dreamcast version is a port of it) and then I caught a random episode from season 2 on adult swim one day and I was instantly hooked. It has replaced DBZ as my favorite anime of all time.
battle tendency or sdc? the season thing is real confusing since pt 1 & 2 are combined
@@GalekCprobably the one with joseph battle tendency i think
Jojo protagonist in OP 2 is the only one who peeped to his mom. Well he didn't know so yeah
I actually do like what they did in part 4 with Great Days (Breakdown) that they took the whole song, and the first part uwas used in the first intro, while the 2nd part was used in the 3rd
"Introducing God", nah dude that's not until part 7
It's crazy that you mentioned street fighter since it was the source of inspiration for it. You'll see a lot of the ken, and ryu resemblance early on. What's even crazier is that the manga is still going today!!! We're on part 8 the anime is currently at part 6 stone ocean. Enjoy the ride ,if you do watch it start from the beginning. Everything is connected
*part 8 ended in 2021. Current manga is in part 9: The JojoLands
Hahaha yooo! I just commented about you guys should be covering JoJo in your Nightmare on Elm Street review video! That was fast! Let's go!!!!
I can definitely agree with you that Part 5 (Golden Wind) goes really fucking hard. Part 4 (Diamond is Unbreakable) is really good too.
there is a live action movie of jojo part 4. Zoro's actor from One Piece live action plays Okuyasu, one of the co-protagonists of that saga
btw. the street fighter artstyle was heavily inspired by jojos bizarre adventure :D
love how you said it looks like the guy from fist of the north star jojo is actually inspired by fist of the north star
Lmao. Right out of the gate "he looks like Kenshiro" my dude is a man of culture 🤜🤛🏽
I use to roast this show and thought the characters looked gay. But i finally watching and its one of my favorites.
they aren't _not_ gay tho' tbh
@@GalekCTo fair, the art style is very flashy and, for lack of a better word, "flamboyant." But is pretty cool once you dig in.
Except for Jojo licking Dios face. I will never get used to that.
@@dogzilla0578 Wasn't that Bruno licking Dio's son?
@@Iamhungey I'm not really sure. It was so weird, I jumped ship before any further context was revealed. X)
Note for everyone watching, Part 7 anime has been confirmed. I am so interested in seeing what they are going to do for that section of the series.
You mentioned Fist of the North Star. The first two parts of Jojo are influenced a lot by that. Street Fighter is also influenced by Jojo
To put it in short, each season the jojo is different generation with their own groups and enemies that are connected in some way
I will still never understand the logic behind people wanting all future seasons spoiled for them.
You mean by watching the op's? Maybe because most people don't actually get spoiled by watching future op's.
Specially in Jojo , you have no what the fuck is going on if you haven't watched it
New ppl getting put onto Jojos:
I’m here for it 🤩
Y’all should watch it lmao
My first introduction to jojos was my brother telling about a show I might like about ‘drag queens beating eachother up’, and now it’s my favourite series of all time
My First JoJo was the Live Action Adaptation of Part 4😂
Tbh for something that I think is impossible to adapt live action, it was alright
@@TrueGamer22887 I think it was kinda good in their time and budget
18:33 They made a live action of the first arc of part 4. However, the movie didnt do well enough and one of the actors got arrested.
My first Jojo experience was a fighting game on the xbox 360 live arcade
yall gotta do the endings next they have fire songs too
"Introducting Christ, a new caracter" well.... How to explain it to you....
"What´s your first introduction to JoJo?"
99% will say: the memes!
"ZA WARUDO!" "KONO DIO DA!" "ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA! MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA!" "OH MY GOHD! HORY SHEET!" "AYAYAYAYAH...!" "NIIICE!" "DAGA KOTOWARU!" "ZA HANDO!" "YARE YARE DAZE."
and more.
each time theirs a new jojo isnt actually a spin off cuz their parts the story of jojo bizarre adventure is the story of different generations of the jostars family
Street fighter was made because of Jojos
27:24 again all the more reason to react to those dbz games and don't trust a playlist from yt you're better of looking up the wiki list of db fighting games then it on yt (for ex. search dragon ball Z budokai 3 opening( or opening movies)) and don't forget db raging blast 1&2
First time I've seen people react to these and know that some intros have different versions of them.
That hat was worn like that waaayyy before loyd banks
Like others here have said, you definitely have to check out the endings as well
Jojos is ABSOLUTE PEAK
fun fact: a lot fo street fighter characters were inspired from Jojo
The endings are goated too
Some constructive criticism for y'all (I'm not trying to hate) but as a reaction channel there needs to be a bit more reacting.
25:27 the voice crack makes the end, okay...
STAND PROUD
Dreamcast game was my first intro, yes it was a fire game, and it hooked me to love the series even til today
Iirc, the JJBA manga is actually longer than the One Piece manga since it's been going on for so long.
You should definitely listen to “color tour night” from persona 3 reload, it’s an amazing song
bro said "I gor to hunt this down" before chase
I'm sad Jolene's opening clip is not complete. There will be a scene of hugging her father and then the frog falling.🥹
also street fighter is actaully based of off jojo lmao you guys got your references on point
I didn’t use to like chase, but the more i listened to it, the more i liked it
These aren’t spin offs, they’re different stories of the different jojo’s pretty much.
if we were to get a western live action movie/tv show of this franchise - i'd want Edgar Wright to be the director - just to give an idea of the possible tone of this series.
Sure you've heard this a million times, but street fighter was heavily inspired by jojo and there are tons of references in street fighter.
Pretty much all main villains from part 3-6 have time powers or gets time powers by the end of the part
26:53 Depends on who is speaking
Dreamcast fighting game was Da Goat, yall are real ones
Hoping you watch Jojo All Star Battles R finisher now.
Part 1 live action would be so cool, with the rock as jonathan
Jhon cena as zepelli
And another actor with big muscles as speed w gon
