I was one year off on the cupholder redesign. As I mentioned, the New Edge update/refresh occurred in ‘99 but the cupholder redesign actually occurred in ‘98.😬
I was actually about to comment that but I read this as I started typing lol. I have a 98 gt same color as your cobra and it has the black on black interior with the new edge cup holders which are essentially useless if you have a 5 speed cause 2 and 4th shifts are impeded by your drink
Call it a quirk if you want, I LIKE my hood’s prop rod. I had two Firebirds with heavy hoods, and piston supports that wore out. A prop rod may be old-fashioned and somewhat awkward, but it will never wear out.
I agree. My transportation car is a 2006 Crown Vic, with lift supports. Wanna know how it feels to get hit in the head with a 200 pound hood? I now carry a piece of pipe in the trunk to hold the hood open.
I actually added prop supports to my s&95 but I saw no reason to remove the prop rod so I actually have both. I can use the struts all the time but if they start to wear out I can just use the prop rod instead since I keep it as a backup
Agreed. The trunk uses lift supports and I’ve hurt myself so many times! They only last a decade, so I had to replace them in 2004, and then again in 2014. 2024 is approaching, and Im wondering if I should just give in and buy them first of the year, rather than wait for another head injury.
My biggest quirk i cant stand is the dang seat belts.. not retracting, getting twisted..hanging up.. My channel is based on my 97gt and i have a similar video.
My 02 GT is the same damn way. I took them apart and oiled the spring mechanism thing and it helped a lot. It's still not like it should be but definitely better.
My 94 cobra does have function side scoops although they do nothing. They just push air against the tire instead of the breaks. And the hood scoops also did go through to the engine bay on my stock hood although the hole it pushed air through is only about the side of a quarter
Just turned 29- thousand miles on my 1996 Mustang SVT Cobra Convertible. Mine is black with the saddle leather interior. Driver seat has hairline cracks in the leather but overall it still smells like a new car inside. The carpeting in the car still looks brand new along with the headlights. I think your car still looks great and you’ve done a good job on the interior and the paint. Took it out yesterday for a long ride in the country and the car still has the original hoses spark plug wires. I paid 12-K for the car and I was offered 18-K for the car. I’m gonna keep it drive it and enjoy it along with my 2010 Camaro RS -SS .
The side scoops on my 95 are “functional”. They’re open but don’t necessarily go to anything like the brakes. The cup holder on the 95 doesn’t have that bottom support so you can place longer cans or cups (skinny lol). My 95 only has 2 o2 sensors. Cool video 👍🏼
I bought a 1996 Mustang SVT Cobra Convertible. 21 Thousand original miles. Paid 12 -K for the car. Locks drives and smells like a brand new car. Car was garage kept. Your car looks great 👍. It’s amazing how many miles you have on your car and it still runs great
That fuel cutoff switch is a really good safety feature. I got rear ended one time and when I went to start the car it wouldn't turn over. One of the cops came over and told me to pop the trunk and check to see if the cutoff switch activated. It did. I hit the button amd the car was able to turn over . I thought that was pretty neat.
I honestly am glad the hood doesn’t have lift supports. I had a 1988 BMW 325i convertible before getting my mustang, and it used lift supports for everything. The hood, the trunk, the convertible boot, which needed to stay open for you to manually put up/down the top. Those supports only last a decade, so they were pretty much shot by the time I got the car. My 94 mustang however, I have hurt myself so many times from when the trunk lid would fall on my head. Every decade I have to replace them. 2004, 2014, and now I’m worried about next year when I’ll have to do it yet again! Thank goodness it’s just the trunk!
The '94 to 98 cars are my favorite SN95 Mustang, esp the '96 to '98 cars. Ford botched the design of the '99 to '03 Mustangs IMHO. Regarding the tiny rear seats, that's a compromise to make the car affordable to insure. Many insurance companies (then as well as now) charge astronomical amounts for two seater specialty cars, regardless of size. Most finance companies require carrying full coverage in case of an accident to protect their investment (the car) in case it gets totaled in a wreck. If you need a larger rear seat, get a Fox T-bird/Cougar ('83 to '88) or the later '89 to '97 T-bird/Cougar (bigger car but also larger rear seat), or better yet, a Panther body (Crown VIc/Mercury Grand Marquis/Lincoln Town Car). The Cobra R model Mustangs all had a rear seat delete.
Ya my 95 GT had the functional side scoops and my 98 cobra had non functional scoops...I wouldn’t really say that they were functional as they really didn’t do anything but u could see that they were vented into the rear wheel well..
@@ReynoldsRides The biggest issue that I had was the 4.6.Wow that's crazy miles.I have 9 mustangs myself.I bought a new 97 cobra and with 2thousand miles and I missed a shift and the motor blew.
I owed a 94 and 97 Cobra and didn't care for the cup holder location either. Use the opening space between the emergency brake and the passenger seat as your beer holder. You can easily fit two beers there and have the factory cup holder available for a third beer if need be.
They have rear seats to place them in a different insurance category from what ive read. No back seats would have resulted in higher insurance. I dont know if this is true or not.
I have a 2003 Mustang. I'm 6' 240, and I fit in the back seat. Not a place I'd want to spend a lot of time, but they are legal, functional seats. If you routinely use back seats, then I'd suggest getting a Crown Vic. I have one of those too. My Mustang does not have fog lights, and the cup holders actually work fairly well, though the front one works much better than the rear one. It's not as deep and larger in diameter. I prefer prop rods for the hood. Lift supports fail fairly quickly, and you either have to keep replacing them, or carry something to use for a prop rod. They did get carried away with the cat cons. Even with a dual exhaust they only needed two. But. By using 6, they did improve exhaust flow a little bit, which also added a couple of hp. And since there are so many power crazed nut cases out there who care about nothing else, that's what Ford did.
Another quirk I found with mine is certain rims will rub on the fender well like s197 gt rims and they ride like tanks in their latter years I know mine does. Another is with after market exhausts like magnaflow Etc sometimes you get the typical rattle of the pipes tapping the body and its enough to drive you insane
proud to say I own a 94 mustang gt, and the side scoops are functional, no idea why ford didn't make the 96 and above sn95 have scoops that are just for show and dont work

actually, the vents on the hood of the cobra are functional... they are simply cool air intakes... for the engine bay.. check em out close, they are open... they are useless but they are functional.
One of the best mods i did to my 94gt was remove the cats and put an x pipe in. I also hate the little plastic nubs that come off the desert to make the seats lay forward.
In mine a few years ago I used that cup holder and I just bought a red velvet shake from Burger King and just getting off work and on the way home before I parked I went to change gear and the shake fell out everywhere lol

I have a 97 Cobra and the amount of emissions related junk on these is incredible. I deleted all the cats, smog pump, egr, imrcs etc. Definitely a lot of excess! I’m interested to see what exhaust you go with. I have the Flowmaster American Thunder but am looking to get a different one
@@ReynoldsRides certain people like it, I like it sometimes but it can be very droney. I have a couple videos on my channel of it. I like the straight through style better
If you do, I wouldn't brag about it or post it on UA-cam. You might have missed it, but the EPA has been on a tear lately going after people disabling their emissions equipment illegally, What's really dumb is breaking federal law then boasting about it on a UA-cam. That's pretty "bright" - breaking federal law and boasting about it in front of millions on UA-cam. Be sure to let us know the truth about prison food too, and don't forget to show us your prison mugshot and that six figure EPA fine (that's right) you're in the hole for.
All 96 and later cars were required to have OBD-II diagnostics and pollution controls installed. This was a federal emissions law requirement. OBD-II is a double edged sword. On one hand, it makes engines easier to diagnose using widely available engine code readers. On the downside, OBD II ECMs compare pre-cat emissions with what's going on AFTER the cats. A discrepancy will trigger a CEL (Check Engine Light).
I bought a 96' Cobra this year w/ 84k miles. It came w/ original Hinodex 95' Cobra R wheels, the tires have a DOT date from 2003 (yikes!). I love cars & pizza too...nom nom
My 03 GT is getting a suspension revamp right now, everything. We put hood struts on all of them (07, 03, 16 & 20). We went with the Borla Ataks and it is a sound I love, especially when he gets warmed up. The seat belts not retracting is a pain. I find the steering wheel is angled wrong too. I added a clutch extender pedal because I felt like I had to sit too close to the wheel to shift. The seats aren't very good, you slide a bit on sharp curves. We were able to find original black leather seats that a guy had replaced with racing ones, in excellent condition! I love Rasputin more than my 2020 GT, something about it being more mechanical and old school...idk
That car is still a Foxbody. The cup holder is between the e brake and seat or ashtray. Also between the seat and door, just don't forget and open the door, otherwise, you lose your route 44 Dr. Pepper.

To be fair lift supports cost like 100 to 200 bucks its not a deal breaker. Ford always left alot up to the owner to fix in the aftermarket and gave the cars to us for less, especially back then. The camaro and vette were both more expensive back then (not much has changed).

I was actually looking at the American Thunder one. Is it not that great?
@@ReynoldsRides certain people like it, I like it sometimes but it can be very droney. I have a couple videos on my channel of it. I like the straight through style better
@@ReynoldsRides you can watch a couple of my latest dyno video too for what it sounds like at WOT up to redline
👍👊
Cool video, cool car. I own 98 cobra, my first sn95 was also a 95. Looks like we are both from Utah? Keep up the good work.
The refreshed cup holders were useless, either smashing the shifter into your drink or making a left turn and spilling your drink on the seats.
Everybody knows the rear seats are for holding your dogs.
The hood scopes on the cobra are functional
The 1994 Cobra does have functional rear scoops
That car is still a Foxbody.
The cup holder is between the e brake and seat or ashtray. Also between the seat and door, just don't forget and open the door, otherwise, you lose your route 44 Dr. Pepper.
Yes I wish the SN 95 would come back for me ive had startin with a 68 GT Mustang 390 4 speed car that got stolen in Texas and was a medium blue with black inside when was found it was distroyed by 2 kids and they were killed Next was an 85 fox body GT 302 5 speed and lots of fun after that An 88 GT Mustang 302 5 speed and hated the taillights with the Ford covers Next was a 90 LX 302 5 speed car That I made into a Drag car was Major fun and Lots of money too and got it to the low 11s was June 12th of 2015 blew the right rear drag slick at a lil over 100 mph hit the wall and Rolled and Glad to be here and it was this to the Roll cage more Then came a 94 GT 302 Automatic Bright red silver leather and black inside The fold down seat got the carpet from the 90 LX from the fold down seat and looks Great went to the salvage yard got the frame ties from a convertible 94 and another Major diffrence then came the E 303 cam intake from a 2001 Explorer and Enjector rails and heads from a 302 with long tube headers 3 inch Exhaust and couldn't stop there had to add a 373 Gear and is a ball to drive after I seen the gas mileage go down the drain and Premium only ouch well with that I found another 94 this one a V6 thats a 3.8 you guessed it was not much for power till I come across a totalled in the rear super couple T bird that was Supercharged you guessed it a Supercharged V6 Mustang Never figured out why Ford never did it and wasn't a hard swap The last thing both 94 mustangs got was 96 Mustang taillights with sequential taillights to loss the Jap look in the rear Thanks for the video and hope this was some help to your readers forsure
To be fair lift supports cost like 100 to 200 bucks its not a deal breaker. Ford always left alot up to the owner to fix in the aftermarket and gave the cars to us for less, especially back then. The camaro and vette were both more expensive back then (not much has changed).
The fast I see ur 1995 an 95 on facebook marketplace it wild bro same rims paint and everything
@6:20 Not all SNs have downstream O2s. The 94-95 cars are OBD1 and do not have downstream O2s.
my 94 gt 5.0l only has 2 o2 sensors and 2 cats
Make the scoops functional
Nice vid bro. I have a 97 cobra pac green. Super fun cars and i never knew about the switch.
I only watched the first 30 second and like this guy already
👍👊
It's a beautiful car. Looking for one now and really doesn't matter the year cobra to me, 94 04 doesn't matter.
The temp issue traffic on the freeway will make the temp go up
my 88 fleetwood had lift supports
You made me learn my car has a swapped out cup holder, my 98 has the full double cup holders and it’s not a new edge
6:04 the Lexus Ls 400 has 4 mufflers i never knew
Why the two tone interior?
*I don't know how you do it brother; I barely drive my 1976 Camaro...if I had more, they would never be driven. My 1976 Camaro has lift supports.*
How many times and $ have they been replaced?
