Honestly, if my husband had taken me to a grocery store and geeked out on food during our first date, I would have swooned! It would have been a major green flag for me. Like, yes... this man will be my bestie. 😂
LoL first date 😅. Thx for this vid - didn’t know about a couple products - hope mine has them (US southeast). Looks like you have more organic items in both fresh and packaged than we do.
Fyi: the greasy spot isnt from the Hippies. I worked for Costco 18years, and that is where someone set their sample cup instead of the trash. Saw it a thousand times. Hippes are good; You two are great! 😊
Watching from Europe and I love the big packaging sizes, especially of fruits and veggies! They're way smaller where I live. Like, last time I bought that amount of ginger in a normal supermarket the cashier stopped, gave me a stern look and said "That's a lot of ginger! Are you aware that just as with all spices eating too much of it is dangerous?" After a couple of seconds of baffled silence I was like "Are you aware that the guy who was in line in front of me just bought 5 kgs of minced meat, 2 bottles of vodka, 3 six-packs of beer and cigarettes and you didn't raise any concerns?" They then thought for a moment, shrugged and continued to scan my stuff. 😂
Lol, what a weird thing to say!😂 Esp with the guy in front of you. Of all the things to judge, they judge a big root of ginger?! Nice response 😉 I was so happy when I learned I could freeze ginger (prepped, not just straight root into the freezer)💞
Have you tried this with the cotton/flannel reusable “paper towels”? I recently switched (well, in the kitchen, anyway) & I’m still learning about the differences
Also, if you have big plastic bags, putting a paper towel sheet in with the lettuces, then sealing the bag with a lot of air in it, keeps lettuce good for almost 2 weeks. You keep turning the bag in the fridge every couple of days and changing the paper towels to fresh dry ones. I learned this from my local organic farmers. I've had organic lettuce and spinach last over 2 weeks in the fridge this way, no kidding.
I'm 67 and I've been vegan/vegetarian for most of 35 years. My health is Excellent and blood tests/urine tests are Excellent. I recently had a cardiovascular test that showed No problems. My diet is low in salt, fat and sugar, and especially low in salt and sugar.
Our Costco in Hawaii sells the ginger 🫚 in a cardboard box. They switched it from the plastic to the box. It was so nice to see, hopefully they can do this all over the country and Canada!
I'm celebrating my 7th year vegan this weekend. Happy veganuary yall and thanks for all the help along the way.not only with the vegan stuff but training aswell. I've been following for atleast 5-6 years. Thanks again you two.
Most of the fruits and veggies in our local Costo in Miami are organic as well as the peanut butter. I also get my raw cashews in costco. It’s the best deal and i make milk and sauces out of them. So good ❤
I didn't realize Costco did so much organic and vegan stuff! I'll have to take my time next time I go and go down all the aisles properly. Having said that , I live in England so maybe we don't have it all. I always buy those amazing dates though, and the frozen organic blueberries. We have organic courgettes too which are delicious, and I get my ground flaxseed, chia and hemp from there too. Also. organic tinned tomatoes by the case! I'm Italian, we use a lot of tinned tomatoes! That pasta brand you showed us, Garofalo, is a very good and usually quite expensive. I also always get the big bag of vacuum packed beetroots for salads and just snacking on! And a big bottle of Maple syrup, that lasts me ages because I only use it as a treat! Thanks guys for a great vlog, as always!😊😊
Completely agree on "grabbing when supply is low" and in this case you shouldn't worry long! Costco labels discontinued items with a "death star" * on the price tag also manager clearances usually drop to ending in x.88, the Japanese BBQ is still x.99 (and there are pallets of stuff at mine, albeit Im near Boston so YMMV)! Great video seeing how much your shopping cart aligns with ours here!
i live in Georgia---"different" selections don't even begin to cover it. I often play, "stump the Costco Manager" game. He has no idea what I am talking about most of the time. And organic is pretty much a foreign word at my Costco. For example "coconut aminos" was a big stumper for them. They first thought I should look in produce!
I like all the "hidden gems" you've found at CCo. I so often roll through the store quickly, get the fe things I like, and don't seriously consider that there might be other vegan-friendly foods there. so love these vids. please keep making them!!!
I'm now going to go to Costco with fresh eyes of what I should be buying. This is my year for going plant-based. Have been reading How Not To Die by Dr. Greger and it's really got me motivated to transition away from animal products. I was already motivated due to animal welfare issues but it's hard when you've eaten meat for 61 years of your life. I love veggies but it's challenging to break a lifelong habit of how you cook. I found your channel yesterday and it seems like exactly what I need to help with that transition.
I love how helpful you guys are. I only went plant based a week ago! Our Costco didn't have the canned beans either. I wonder what's going on... Also, frozen veggies are often better than fresh because they are flash frozen so they maintain their nutrients a lot better than having fresh veggies and fruit sitting in the fridge for like a week.
Perfect video for me - I haven't been to Costco in a long time, but just switched to WFPB a couple months ago, and was wondering what they have there these days. Here's a tip to help greens (and everything else) last longer - when you get some out of the box (or bag), use clean dry stainless tongs. I follow a rule that anything going back into the fridge must never touch my hands, the counter, or anything else. Everything lasts WAY LONGER with so much less food waste and fewer trips to the store. According to Project Drawdown analysis, reducing food waste is the #1 MOST impactful strategy to combat climate change!
I think i heard somewhere that Frozen veg and fruits are actually better than fresh sometimes. Fresh fruits and veg get gathered unripe and frozen should be gathered ripe and get frozen shortly after

I’ve recently started begging my Costco in Pleasant Prairie Wisconsin to please start stocking tofu. Costco frozen organic veggies is why I invested in a small chest freezer.
Keep hounding them about the tofu. Eventually they’ll hear you. Email them at corporate praising your specific store and put in your request for your preferred items. Keep mentioning it at ground level as well. They promote from within.
@@helpfulcommenter the funny thing is there are nearby stores in both Wisconsin and Illinois that regularly stock it and it appears meets their volume requirements to keep it on the shelf.
We also buy a bag of lemons and sometimes salad kit. If you want to buy sweet potatoes you should buy them from either Indian store or Asian store. They are white from inside and red from outside and utterly delicious when baked. What you get in American grocery stores are yams which are orange. Also for a big can of chickpeas always buy them from Indian grocery store or middle eastern which is a big can of 5 lb . Cilantro from Indian grocery store. Bean sprouts, green onions kaboocha squash etc from Asian grocery store.
We love Costco for our vegan staples! Those sprouted oats are bomb! We also get Kirkland raw cashews, maple syrup, frozen mango, & pistachios. Funny what you said about purple leaves in the spring mix, I’ve noticed that too! We just eat huuuge salads every day to eat up the greens as fast as possible lol
I just grabbed 4 bags of the oatmeal today as Costco has a 7 day ad running with $3 off "coupon". Best by date shown on the bags is about a year. I probably should have grabbed more as I've never seen this oatmeal discounted here before. I probably go through a bag every couple months.
@@HidingFromFate Oooh--are those the organic sprouted oats? They're my FAVORITE! @@chezsuzieyes, those. Good stuff, but I only use them for, well, oatmeal breakfast. I do wish Costco still stocked the Red Mill steel cut oatmeal as I preferred that type but doesn't look like it's ever coming back. Been gone probably close to 2 years now. 😢

Honestly this was my favorite “vegan” costco video .. cuz it focuses on just regular foods and not “replacements” .. love it .. your vids always make me laugh

I'm not vegan but I do eat more plant based due to kidney issues in the past...likely from a bout of Covid. But I buy a good portion of what you buy. I might look into a few more items you recommended. I do like how you know which items you have self control with and which you don't. I think we all could work on that a bit more. Setting yourself up for success by not buying those things that have more control over you than you have over them is a really good battle plan.

@Simnettnutrition No problem! Italian pasta is processed so much differently than any other pasta and there are far fewer instances of gluten intolerance or Celiac.
I actually found this very helpful. I've been considering becoming a member again. It's good to know they have a lot of organic products. It seems they have a lot more to choose from than they used to. Thanks again 🙏💜
I wish we had Cosco. Deals were awesome! The best tho, was hearing Crystal giggling like crazy in the back. So much fun. Thanks guys. Watching grocery hauls is surprisingly inspiring.
Awesome video! I felt like I was the one shopping as our must-have staples are just about the same. I have both Sam's & Costco memberships but appreciate all the organic options at Costco. One of our favorite snacks is the Kirkland Organic Roasted Seaweed. Our Costcos offer a creamy, organic oil-free peanut butter by Kirkland. BUT, I think it might be time for a video on the simplicity of making our own nut butters. 😉 I've never seen a sprouted bread here in US Costco's but I'll be looking for that. Hearing Crystal's giggle in the background made me smile EVERY SINGLE TIME! Thanks to you both for all you do.
Super helpful video, thank you. Moving back to the US after 21 years away and this video gets me up to speed and saving money from the jump. Thank you ♥
To the both of you.....THANK YOU!!! When I find myself going off track I always come back to Simnett Nutrition. You 100 percent get me out of the dark hole of unhealthiness. I appreciate all that you both do.🥰
All of your videos are an inspiration to me. I especially loved this one because I was on the edge for a long time about getting a Costco membership. Now I’m totally convinced it’s worth it! I’m also really enjoying your ebook “easy vegan comfort meals”. Great recipes for a low price! Keep up the good work Dereck and Crystal keep on giggling! 😅
Loved this video! Looks just like our Costco hauls! We’ve been vegan for almost 3 years now and love it! One place I am struggling is with long term food storage though. Could you do a video on a few shelf stable breakfast lunch and dinners that are nutritionally on par with fulfilling our daily/weekly dietary needs from shelf stable, storable foods? I struggle with knowing what to keep stocked and how to prepare it into satisfying meals. Now that I have a family of 4 to support I feel like I need to figure that out! Any help appreciated!!
Yay, good to see the Costco haul from Derek and Crystal! I definitely need to look for the canned bean/lentils chili and make my own tamari almonds ( I have not search for them or don’t think they’re available in Austin, TX.) Yeah the Asian fashion copy cat jumbo mumble on anything always make me read on 😅 but it’s never a fortune just more what?head scratcher. 🤷🏻♀️🤪 The best tasting tofus are the organic, sprouted ones from Trader Joe’s ( 😢still not in Canada?) Sprout’s Farmers Market, and any featured brands at H-mart. I freeze the tortilla chips in portions and bake them for about 5 minutes at 350 degrees F since it’s not good for anyone to consume that much in one day, also the chips becomes so stale after two days anyway 😊
I love this video! So fun! I also love Costco but hate the plastic and over abundance of cardboard packaging. You have lots of great items at your Costco that we don’t have here in Rockland County, NY. I mostly buy lots of produce, frozen vegetables and berries, tortilla chips, nuts, seasonings and household products such as soap, baking soda, probiotics and some clothing. Love the organic produce and some nonorganic bc not available. I also go to Trader Joe’s regularly which I know is not in Canada. Thanks for sharing!
Actually - this video was much appreciated. As someone who struggles to figure out what to buy and cook, it was fun that you took us along. I don't have freezer space. Otherwise I would take advantage of buying most of the stuff you got. I have to go with much smaller bags. Thanks to you both.
Our costco in Grand rapids Michigan has organic Mushrooms and Kirkland organic peanut butter and if you check down the dried fruit isle they have big bags of organic dates and figs.
Wow! Tofu? I bet it’s way cheaper than regular stores. I need to renew my Costco card. You should definitely be sponsored for promoting Costco. ❤ Thanks for sharing.
Good to see your realistic Costco choices. Some things aren't perfect, but are a good deal. Enjoy going on your shopping trips, and yes, I always have bagged snack to eat on the way home!
This was so fun and funny! Love all the products from Costco, too! The Garden Salsa tortilla chips are new to me. I’ll have to look out for them. Thanks Derek and Crystal!
Our Costco has tons of organic products. I guess it varies quite a bit from store to store. Almost all of the produce is organic. Fresh and frozen. They also stock the organic peanut butter and almond butter at our store.
I loved this video. I get those oats and blueberries. They sell the Kirkland organic PB at our Costco. I just went yesterday but can't wait to go back after your video. We have frozen organic cherries, too. Great on nice cream.
Fun! Nice to see another Costco shopper buying many of the same foods my husband and I do. It was also great to see you ride the shopping cart to your car at the end. My 68 year old husband does the same exact thing! LOL!! He’s been vegan since he was 18. :)
Yeah!! Gotta love shopping at Costco 👏 prices and quantities can’t be beat. Especially for a large family like mine of 7 that we keep eating vegan. I was surprised to see you get most items we do too 😜 Not sure if Colorado Springs Costco might carry that size container of ginger - but if they did I would probably pass by it thinking “It’ll spoil or dry before I use it” It never occurred to me you could freeze it 🤯 Thx Derek!! I’ll look for the tofu and the japanese BBQ sauce 👍 We eat yakisoba since I saw you guys using it a while back 👏😜 I’m following and learning. 🥰 A venezuelan vegan mom of 4 in Colorado USA 👋🤩👏 Monica
I put paper towel in the bottom and the top of my spring mix container and change it out every two days and it stops the purple leafs from going slimy. I double up the paper towel sheets. Works very well to absorb that excess moisture. Do the same thing with the packaged spinach.
Great topic! I just invested in a Costco membership at a great deal. Our locations have the organic peanut butter! I also was delighted to find Lotus Foods gf noodles
That.was.fun. I'm always interested to see what vegan options are at different Costco locations or any chain actually. Especially being in the States it's cool to see what you guys have up in Canada! (I have a lot of family in different provinces, but they are not vegan).
Agree love the Japanese BBQ sauce! The Hemp Seeds have risen to $19.99 where yours is 16.99. We still don’t have Kirkland Tofu or any tofu at Costco Atlanta, Ga

god, i've been a follower for years, vegan for 5. i always love the simplicity , good vibes, info packed videos you produce. crystals laugh is just the sweetest. i love you guys! - ontario
That is bronze dye or bronze cut pasta, which is why it tastes better and has a better texture. I also feel much better when I eat it as well!
Oh cool I didn’t know! Thanks for sharing.
@Simnettnutrition No problem! Italian pasta is processed so much differently than any other pasta and there are far fewer instances of gluten intolerance or Celiac.
You can grow all those greens fresh year-round on a tower.
Thank you ♥
I Love your videos. I am just starting a whole food plant based way of eating and I am so happy to have found you both.
To the both of you.....THANK YOU!!! When I find myself going off track I always come back to Simnett Nutrition. You 100 percent get me out of the dark hole of unhealthiness. I appreciate all that you both do.🥰
When you were yanking out the strawberries I felt that in my soul
All of your videos are an inspiration to me. I especially loved this one because I was on the edge for a long time about getting a Costco membership. Now I’m totally convinced it’s worth it!
I’m also really enjoying your ebook “easy vegan comfort meals”. Great recipes for a low price!
Keep up the good work Dereck and Crystal keep on giggling! 😅
Dude, you're proof that vegan bodybuilding is possible. You look amazing! ❤
I definitely need to look for the canned bean/lentils chili and make my own tamari almonds ( I have not search for them or don’t think they’re available in Austin, TX.)
Yeah the Asian fashion copy cat jumbo mumble on anything always make me read on 😅 but it’s never a fortune just more what?head scratcher. 🤷🏻♀️🤪
The best tasting tofus are the organic, sprouted ones from Trader Joe’s ( 😢still not in Canada?) Sprout’s Farmers Market, and any featured brands at H-mart.
I freeze the tortilla chips in portions and bake them for about 5 minutes at 350 degrees F since it’s not good for anyone to consume that much in one day, also the chips becomes so stale after two days anyway 😊
I only buy frozen wild blueberries. They have twice the antioxidants and taste so much better.
I have actually done this as a date. It helps each other understand their preferences and starts a conversation.
Haha that’s what I’m saying. Probably not a bad first date. 😆 Did things work out?
thanks derek. this is the only thing i found on youtube that is cheerful today. happy eating.
I'd love a video like this of just "foods at costco you didn't know were vegan" minus obvi things like produce
The medjool dates there are AMAZING! AND i totally agree with you on the purple lettuce going slime quick!!!!
I haven’t watched you in a while I’m glad you’re still going strong
So cool that your Costco has all that organic produce!! Nothing like that here in Quebec. Thanks for all that relavent content. Cheers!!
They do have great organic peanut butter. We buy most of the items you pointed out. It’s a great money saver for frozen fruit and veg too
Good to see your realistic Costco choices. Some things aren't perfect, but are a good deal. Enjoy going on your shopping trips, and yes, I always have bagged snack to eat on the way home!
Love this video. Love your beard styling today. Hope you and Crystal have a great weekend. Thanks for the content!
I learned from John Kohler years ago about picking avocados that still have that stem nub on it. It's a good idea.
My town is getting a Costco next winter. Right now I have to drive an hour to 2 different cities here in Florida. Very excited.
She really laughs a lot. Glad she is having fun
I love the cooked beets from Costco. They are so good on a salad!
So much of this stuff we don’t have here in LA - yours looks wayyyyyyy better!
I’ll look for the tofu and the japanese BBQ sauce 👍
We eat yakisoba since I saw you guys using it a while back 👏😜 I’m following and learning. 🥰
A venezuelan vegan mom of 4 in Colorado USA 👋🤩👏 Monica
I put paper towel in the bottom and the top of my spring mix container and change it out every two days and it stops the purple leafs from going slimy. I double up the paper towel sheets. Works very well to absorb that excess moisture. Do the same thing with the packaged spinach.
Great topic! I just invested in a Costco membership at a great deal. Our locations have the organic peanut butter! I also was delighted to find Lotus Foods gf noodles
Appreciate the tip on buying avocados. Will try it!
I don't think I've ever heard a camera "man" giggle that much. You have very happy staff. LOL
Agreed! The purple leaves always spoil the rest.
Definitely liked the grocery tour and helpful hearing how you used the products, great video.
There is so much i will now have to keep an eye out for.
I love Costco for the organic stuff and nuts as well.
I live in Edmonton and you have way more fresh organic produce than we have in our stores, we do have a good selection of frozen organic fruit and veggies.
You two are so fun and cute. Thanks for sharing your light with us. ☺️❤️
