#costco #plantbased #groceryhaul
The problem with Costco hauls is that every Costco location carries different stuff.
Still fun to see what other stores carry…especially plant based items!!
Right, I get jealous every time I watch one lol. Mine does not have most of the awesome things in here like the lundberg rice, date syrup, arugula or tofu. I used to always buy the frozen mango and they don't have it anymore 😢
Yeah, I live in Ottawa, and I have never seen that queso or that tofu. It’s a real bummer.
Yes, I’m definitely seeing items not available in Ontario, but who knows maybe things will change. I laughed when you yesterday things were busy just before closing. My husband & I when on a Monday morning thinking we would not be in a crowd, wrong. Thanks for sharing your trip.👍❤️🙂
Yeah.. they're in Canada and I'm the the Bronx... we definitely don't have the same things😩
The other thing I need to say is the Canadian Costco's have way more and better vegan products than here in the states.
Here I am, an American, wondering where the bulk pack of tofu is at my Costco… have I just never seen it??
Seriously Canadians got way better options! 😮
In the refrigerated shelves.
@@blahimbored13We have it in Austin.
@@DebbiDePalma I’m so happy to hear that since I’m a Canadian. Having lived in the US, at least in Oregon and California. I’ve always felt that Canadians are short changed. Perhaps it depends on where you live in the US and where you live in Canada.🤔
Watching this after punching out from my shift at Costco, haha! Great job if you want to get in shape. I'm averaging 13,000-18,000 steps per shift 💪
It always looks like y'all are working hard! We appreciate it :D
I love it when Derek jumps & gets excited when he finds a good product, with the "Ahh: of a child__we should all keep that childhood enthusiasm all our lives.......
Being vegan can certainly help you feel young... 🎉🎉
I'm sooo jealous Derek. Our Costco in US doesn't carry the half of the stuff that you get in Canada. Our beans are Goya with sodium, no vegan chocolate chips, no Queso dip, no good sweet potato, your Tofu is way better than ours 😒 no veggie burgers either, ours is the Chipotle Bean Burgers, no huge frozen mangoes either, no date syrup either.....so I guess not all Costco are the same
That’s interesting because so many Canadians complain that we don’t half the stuff that the US stores carry - I guess it depends on our individual tastes.
Totally agree... I'm always in Costco and barely can find good vegan products... I may find a few things plus I'll pick up the produce from there cuz it's cheaper than at the supermarket but other than that it's mostly for household items 😩
You should look up Derek's recipe for the queso. Its dang close and pretty easy to make.
Sorry to hear of your Costco, but ours in SoCal has all the things you listed, even the date syrup. Not that I would get date syrup. I used to love Raos sauces, but after the Campbells buyout it's different. 🤔
@@bridgetvest7645ohh didn't know that. Do you know specifically what's the difference
Today I learned that our guy Derek is 40 yo, I thought he’s in his twenties !
maybe going plant based is the answer 🌱
haha thank you so much!
Love this - I'm with you about the red leaves in the salad mix. They ruin the rest of the greens !!!
Wow we don’t have hardly any of those in our USA Costco. Good finds in Canada though!!!
Thank you for being considerate to other people. 🧡 It’s so rude when other UA-camrs think it’s fine to film the public doing things like grocery shopping and eating at restaurants. Bravo for always being kind and considerate of others. 🌱
Thanks! We try our best and I appreciate that you notice :D
@@Simnettnutrition you do a great job!
I’ve found the chillest time at my Costco is Tuesday nights 😁
I had no idea they had date syrup at Costco. Thanks for posting this 🙂
I'm with Crystal on the pre-cooked beets. Amazing!
They are good!
The classic vege burgers 🍔 still rule !!
Thought it was funny you mentioned the costco being busy. I was wondering where you're located because that Costco was SO calm. I LOVE costco but its such an energy drain because its so busy it feels like bumper cars in there which leads me to not look around as much even though I know they sometimes have some real good gems.
It was less busy than usual, but still busy haha. We went an hour before closing! I've heard early morning and late at night it's not busy if that helps.
The only "Costco guys" we really need ! ;)
We don't have most of this at ours in TN. Sure wish we did!
I wish my Costco had more vegan options.
I wish I had a Costco!
Crystal always so radiant 🌞
😅I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO OPENED PACKAGES IN THE CAR TO TASTE AND HAVE SNACKS WHILE DRIVING.😋😋✌🏾
You both are so freaking fun to watch.
My problem in Costco is going in hungry and spending more than I need 😢. My staples in my Florida Costco: maple syrup, tofu, dr Preager when available, salad, potatoes, sauerkraut, onions and Poppi prebiotic drinks 😂❤🎉
I love the That’s It bars for my toddler! Hard to find good snack items for kids that aren’t loaded with extra sugar and flavoring!!
I wish my costco had this stuff. Those pineapple crunchies sound awesome.
They are so good! I wish we bought another bag.. or three lol
It's so interesting to see the vegan supermarket food in other countries. Tip for easy cooking of brown rice (hay box style). Boil for 5 minutes, making sure the rice and water almost fills the pot. Then remove from heat and immediately wrap the pot tightly in two or more towels, and put a heavy weight on top of the towels. Let it sit for 2-4 hours and it's done. You can wrap up your rice and go out and it cooks while you're away. Another great video Derek and Crystal, thanks!
Thanks for another great video regarding Costco. I didn’t know about the date syrup so thank you. I’m in North Vancouver. I know you’re on Vancouver Island so hopefully our store in Burnaby’s got some. Also on the wild rice, I cook it in the rice maker, using the water amount you would for brown rice, and batch cook it so that I can freeze it into portions ready to go. And on the queso dip, I have made yours and it’s great!!! ❤❤
for the flax seeds, you can get the unroasted at costco in their vitamin section.
i can never get enough of grocery hauls, i would love to see some more weekly or month ones it's so fun
Have you tried Bitchin Sauce? It's AMAZING! Does your Costco have that? It's a vegan staple. And yes, Rao's is by far the best pasta sauce.
Ray O's pronunciation for the pasta sauce
I had no idea lol
@@Simnettnutrition Me either -- but once on Top Chef they went to the actual Rao's in NYC, and that's when I found out! :-)
I say R-OW-s and I will never change my behavior
Thank you so much. I'm struggling with find quality vegan options.you did the research for me.GREAT VARIETY & DESCRIPTION
My issue with the Costco black beans and chickpeas is they have way too much salt added. Prefer to get no salt added from Whole Foods
Dr. Praeger's is lowkey goated, it's a shame their price outside of Costco is so high, but they really know what they're doing. It's gotten to the point where even Shake Shack's latest veggie burger looks and eats like a near replica of a Dr. Praeger patty instead of some Beyond or Impossible thing. Great video as always, I love seeing what fellow plant-based folks choose and find joy in while stocking their larders.
Your vegan queso recipe is the best!
Thank you so much!
Dear Simnett Nutrition And Costco ❤
I Am God ✝️
Thank you Simnett Nutrition for focusing on the ingredients in the product 🌞
Thank you Costco for what you provide 🌞
Love from God Jhorna 💫
Thanks for sharing the tip about ground flaxseed. I’ve always felt guilty for using pre-ground flaxseed because I thought I wasn’t getting all the benefits but you’ve made me realize that it doesn’t matter.👍🥗
The wild rice if u soak it over night cooking time willl be in half
Nice haul….we get Organic Bitchin Sauce sooo good almonds chipotle yummyness also the go Raw organic sprouted pumpkin seeds are delish! And organic California dates and Walnuts !
SoCal San Diego we usually hit up the Carlsbad Costco
Same! That’s my usual Costco, too (closest to home). Palomar Airport Road!
And the sauerkraut is on sale there right now. 😊
I just recently found those Thai frozen noodles at Costco and they are delicious. Your idea of adding more veggies and tofu makes it 100x better- thank you for that!
Ha, literally just got a membership and was gonna watch the previous Simnett video on Costco … great timing!
You two are so sweet to film at Costco, to show us what you have at your location. I think my next Costco haul will be more than frozen broccoli and roasted red peppers in a jar!😄👍
The Costco beans are BPA-free but have salt. The Dollaramma cans have no salt, $1, but presumably have BPA. I'm not sure which one Dr. Greger would go for (he'd say "find BPA-free cans without salt" I'm guessing)
I don't mind a little salt, plus the beans are organic too.
I encourage you to read the How Not To Die, How Not To Diet, & How To Live Longer, by Dr. Greger
🙄 no thanks for the lowkey judgment
It's actually How Not To Age for the last one. Unless he released some other version of the same book I'm unaware of. And I agree: Dr. G-Money is the king of information on all this good stuff.
Thank you! I just got a membership and don’t want to eat meat.
I can’t deal with the Pass -ta sauce pronunciation. Lol.
Pah-sta.
😂😂
Look for siete chips they are vegan and made with avocado oil, plus super delicious :)
Great video!! Thank you!
I'm with you on the Spring Mix salads. Please leave the dark lettuce out. It always goes bad before the greens. I just want my greens! PS: your Costco has a lot more organic veggies than mine In Camillus NY. And Rao's is pronounced RAYO
The Jackson's sweet potato chips from Costco are amazing u should try them
I'll look for them next time!
Hi, My wife & I are enjoying your channel & tasty recipes. We just switched to a plant based diet about 4 months ago and are really liking it. Thanks for the CostCo tip, never thought of them as a source for organic & vegan items, we just returned from there after watching your CostCo video and found lots of good stuff. Appreciate & enjoy your content, recipes & nutritional insights!
Now I need a Costco Membership 😭
Seems a much better / wider selection organic/ vegan brand selection than UK Costco!! Thanks for sharing great Vid
Im so sorry to hear that!
Wow, I'm looking forward to my Costco haul this afternoon
That cocoa is great for making hot chocolate.
Seattle Costco barely have any of these products.. we have organic frozen blueberries though. I will look for the frozen mango next time.
Just went to Kelowna Costco and they don’t have chickpeas!! 😭 But I did buy extra firm tofu for the first time! Baby step!! ❤️💪🏻
I just picked up some organic red lentil penne pasta from Costco..so good and very high in protein. Great video guys. Keep up the good work & info! And yay on the pre-milled flax seed thumbs-up!Love the dive into the fresher greens, and the chair chill-out Derek...ur hilar😊❤
I lived in Ohio for awhile and surprisingly, it had better vegan stuff than every Costco I've been to in NJ! I was so shocked at this. For some reason I assumed Ohio would just be all about steaks and such!
Great video! Wish my Cosco had that tofu!!
Just an fyi -- It’s pronounced RAY-ohs and KAH-shee / CAW-shee.
Wherever you live, you have a much better selection than we have at our Costco.
What city do y’all live in?! We don’t have most of the items… pineapple bits, date syrup, white bag choc chips, Lara bars, seasoning, Lundburg Wild Rice, that trail mix… :(
My local Costco does have a few items but I wish they had more. I don't buy much other than fruits, vegetables, nuts, oats, quinoa, rice, beans, so i think I will look at how to ask them to carry more vegan foods.
omg i would cry if my costco had date syrup
Thank you for this video! ❤. Love seeing the options.👌
Have you tried cooking rice in the instant pot? Wild rice takes about 22 minutes in there.
It's very frustrating to see Costco deals online and then find out my local Costco in Chicago does not have half the products. Oh well, after the debate I'm seriously considering moving to Canada anyway.....
Is this a BC, Canada Costco or ? Rao's marina sauce...I don't think it's labeled Organic and non-organic tomatoes use a fair amount of pesticide/herbicide.
I keep that sauerkraut stocked in my fridge.
Me too! It’s on sale at my Costco right now. 😊
Hey can you buy a oil press machine and make your own protein powder with sunflower, pumpkinseed and hempseed. Pls make vid showing it. I think the machine aren't that expensive
I do the Morning Star Chipotle Black Bean burgers! They have 15gs of protein and ingredients you can pronounce! Great haul! I’m going to look for those pineapple chunks next time and that seasoning! ✌️❤️
That's awesome! We have Morningstar burgers at our Costco too, but they have egg/milk in them :'(
I'm curious which Costco you went to? What location? Our Costco doesn't have half the stuff you were showing. You are lucky to have such a wide assortment of plant based products at your Costco.
Good call on not getting the Beyond Meat burgers. I've recently learned how artificial most of those new meat substitutes are, and that your body doesn't even know what to do with the stuff, because it's not found in nature. Talk about over processed.
My local Costco doesn’t carry vegan products. Maybe I can sway them to 👍. I can get the Thats It Bars and love them!!
Costco is my favorite shopping place. If some items you've shown here are not carried at my local Costco store I could always leave them a note in the comment box. Great haul thanks!
I do not like the Impossible Burger or the Beyond Burger….. I like a good black bean burger 🍔👍🏻
My Costco in Michigan does NOT have all the vegan options available @your Costco!
I would love to hear you on Joe Rogan or at least respond to some of the nutrition claims that have been made on the podcast by different guests and himself. He's gotten pretty anti vegan lately but you would bring a great perspective cause you guys are who I think of when vegans are actually healthy and strong and feeling good
Great video, I discovered dark chocolate covered dried mangoes. OMG they are addictive. Taking a trip tomorrow to my local Toronto Costco
It is helpful to focus on vegan, not everything that vegans won’t be buying. Thanks.
Darn, don't think Costso in South Korea has much or any of that. Always love your videos and ideas though!
My favourite buys ❤️ and I’m not even vegan, although lots of plant based meals.
Please hold each package in front of the camera for a couple of seconds so that we can take a screenshot. When you just pick it up and flash it by the camera, it's difficult to catch it accurately.
Any one have th esame problem I do where the Produce at Costco goes bad literally the day after you purchase it?
how do you store all the big packs from costco, especially the freezer/fridge items
I wish the cafe offered more vegan options. It’s mostly meat. All they need to do is offer a vegan hot dog and I’d be a happy camper.
Surprised you don’t just buy dry black beans and chickpeas. Way better deal and no cans.
Thx 🙏 I agree about the red lettuce ! Why why why
I always check the date on the arugula or spinach, t is there in tiny writing, lol, sometimes it is already expired.
If you get that big of flax, make sure to freeze it because it will go bad. I had it happen to me.
Your Costco is way better than mine. Mine has very limited vegan options.
Which costco is this? We dont get many great vegan options such as date syrup, those pineapple, wild rice
Wish our Costco had half what yours does. Should some of that produce and beans be organic
I love That's It bars! They are super delicious without having all of the extra stuff.
love this! in the next few months i plan to get a costco membership for their delivery purposes and great costs and this helped so much so than you!
this video is making me MAD! my Costco doesn't have any of that!
That's sucks! where do you live?
@@Simnettnutrition I live in New York City, and I visited all three Costco's within the city limits. I've also visited one on Long Island and one on the New Jersey border. I also visited the Costco in New Jersey that's branded as "Costco business center". The only one that even carried tofu was the Costco business center in New Jersey. I suspect the Costco's within the city don't bother selling tofu because there are so many Asian markets that sell tofu at such bargain rates that they can't compete with their volume so that's where most people get tofu I imagine in the city when they want to get a great deal on bulk. A lot of the other niche products that you showed none of them are really found in any of the Costco's in the city.
@@SimnettnutritionI think even though the Costco's within New York City are pretty big warehouse stores they probably don't trump the square footage that is found outside of urban cities so I think they have to be very selective in what products they sell. I do notice that the Costco that is a little bit bigger than the other Costco's in the city do carry a lot more selection. So I think they have to cut out certain items based on square footage of the store.
This is so inspiring and just incredible and inspiring!
I’m up for a quinoa recipe video
Hi...Are...you...going...to...The...VCO...this...year.?...Would...be...great...to...see...you.
That's It bars in pineapple/apple, apple/cherry, and apricot/apple are my faves. I auto delivery from the company. I wish I had a Costco nearby.
Those sound like great flavours!
Organic contributes to a much higher degree to Animal Agriculture than conventional grocerie choices without organic.
Enjoyed the video. That bag of quinoa here in texas is 8.99
How is it we shop at the same Costco and I’ve never noticed half of this stuff? So glad I watched this!
