Then suddenly Type Moon dropped a bombshell on people that are only familiar with the Fate side by announcing a Mahoyo x FGO event collab.
we already ahd KnK collab on the first year of the game people were already confused by it and many though Ryougi was an fgo character first, not knowing anything about the movies...
And NA is gona go through same stuff with arcueid in anniversary specially since many will refuse to read the VN that will get english release a week before anniversary..
And the Mahoyo collab has characters from KNK, Hollow Ataraxia and the Servant Universe in it. TM sure isn't helping newcomers sometimes lol

As you said: the Fuyuki saga is all you need to understand Fate.
Everything else is only as confusing as you want to make it sound, really.
"Fate" is basically like Marvel and DC.
The best way to get into them is to just pick a point, almost any point, and branch out from there. Granted, there are some entries that are better starting points than others but the most important thing is to actually start at all.
Want to start with the original VN? Go for it.
Want to start with the 2006 adaption? Sure. (In fact, that's where I started...though it was only that option back then)
Want to start with "Zero"? A popular one, sure.
Want to start with "UBW"? Another popular one, sure.
Want to start with "Unlimited Codes"? It's a bit out there, but sure.
Want to start with "Carnival Phantasm"? Yeah, sure.
Want to start with "Tsukihime" or "Garden of Sinners"? That's fine too.
Want to start with "Samurai Remnant"? That's actually a newer one that's considered a good entry point for newcomers.
Want to start with "Extra: Last Encore"? Uh, actually, maybe not that one.
Want to start with "Prisma Illya"? Sure...though probably stick to the manga and not the terrible anime adaption.
9 out of 10 times, it'd be good enough. Just...start...somewhere.

even extella is more important than Zero since it sets up very big foundations of the whole universe and major backstory elements that influences other works too...

I think you're correct, its not as bad as people make it out to be, but I have a correction: the emiya cooking spinoff is not on Crunchyroll at least not in every country (and I hate that)

I'm ngl I made this video because I got annoyed at a "Fate is Complicated" meme so I didn't even think to extend it to the full nasuverse LOL, but you're right, Mahoyo is the best starting point if you REALLY wanna dig into the magic lore of the franchise.
I started with half of DEEN, stopped midway to watch Carnival Phantasm, then hesitated to continue the DEEN because "But they were so happy in Carnival Phantasm" lol
And now I'm pruning universes in FGO

I agree, Fate is easy. If anyone wants an easy suggestion: find 2-3 Fate things that look cool, watch them, and expand from there if you liked any of what you saw. I find that people are held back due to volume of content, but that doesn't stop people from starting to watch One Piece, Bleach, or Naruto. You can watch the 2006 Fate Stay Night anime, or the 2014 Remake anime, or Fate/Zero anime, or do the visual novels if you want the original stuff. It's your Fate journey, do what you want IMO. 👍

It’s really not. I think what causes this is that a lot of people don’t seem to understand how multiple routes in visual novels work. There is no specific order to the stories. They are mainly just various what if scenarios. You don’t HAVE to watch Zero before Stay Night because it’s not going to affect Stay Night’s story depending on the route you choose ( except for Heaven’s Feel imo). It just adds more context. This applies to other Fate spin offs as well.
I knew nothing about feet and actually started with the first episode of the second cour of Zero, that seems so long ago now. Of course! I went back and watched the whole series. Wasn't aware of stay night but at the time I watched zero, ubw had not been made but fate is by far my favorite anime franchise
I started getting into fate a year ago and i never rlly had an issue with not knowing where to start 😭 i watched apocrypha, then played grand order, and some other spinoffs and I STILL havent watched any of the stay night stuff (waiting for vn translation)

I will say that the Prisma Illya anime gets... BETTER if you can trudge through it, but i will always recommend just reading the manga instead. The manga is much more focused on the story, action, and spectacle, whereas the anime has CLEARLY shown that they aren't all that good at adapting the look and feel of it (action scenes especially), and is directed by someone who just CANNOT keep it in his pants. For an example, when the director was given free reign to write a story for FGO, we ended up with Agartha, the chapter that basically EVERYONE in the fandom considers to be the worst because of how fetish fueled it was.
After watching that gigyak or whatever his name is, i was thinking to myself about how the fate series couldnt be as complicated as he was implying
Zero confused the heck out of me as at the time I didn’t know any Stay Night beyond UBW existed lol
Also the Extella games are set in an Extra AU, Look up Extella Zero if you’re wondering what I’m on about
Also Prototype Fragments of Sky Silver is a *PREQUEL* to that original Fate which we’ve not gotten a full version of yet which IK is weird lol

IMO not complicated, it just not complete, you need additional source to complete the whole puzzle of the story.

If you want to go into lore you're gonna find a lot of complicated, convoluted conceptual shit, but if you just watch the shows and play the games you'll be fine
Fate is a lot like comics, a bunch of stories that share some collective tissue but aren't directly related, you can literally just pick any "Run" and start
I started with 0 and then ubw and felt that to be pretty natural

4:22 last I checked melty blood has a story & is canon.
while they don't technically matter melt blood actually has foreshadowing to fgo, specifically the big bad of part 1's plans. also the sex scenes are only meme worthy because of the translator. Actual scenes in JP are pretty mild and not anything to worth making a big deal about to be honest. also while fgo wasn't directly made from the mmo, there are characters originally used for the mmo repurposed for fgo (not including characters from apocrypha).
otherwise a pretty good video that doesn't needlessly complicate things or read lore from a wiki that has a ton of misinformation and mistranslations (looking at you gigguk).
Thanks! I debated adding OG Melty Blood in due to the lore connection but figured that I should stick exclusively to Fate related media (minus MBTL which I mostly threw in as a half joke) in order to not complicate things. If I make a video about the Tsukihime universe (which I'd LOVE to do as it's my personal favorite) I'll probably bring up that connection!
@@LadyHadria Do it, you must, also side note, the prisma manga is infinitely better than the anime, i say this as someone up to date with it, the art gets progrsively better and better and the story turns more serious the more it goes
There's still misinformation such as calling Prototype "a manga series" even though Fragments is primarily an LN and it's not a "series" either, because the published Prototype only exists as a short ova and some scenes that didn't make into it. Also, putting F/GO and Strange Fake not last is also weird since both reference literally everything else.

Tsukihime is a standalone. You don't have to go through any Fate material to understand the visual novel. In fact, Tsukihime predates Fate/Stay Night (official release) by 4 years.
all 4 main horsemen of type moon AKA(Fate stay night, Tsukihime , kara no kyoukai, the witch on holy night) can be read/watched sepratedly and all 4 of them pretty much have same value(cough cough, plz, give me some break, i see all 4 of them as equal) ...you can go with either of them , with no problem, they sometimes make some part of other story more understandable , so there is no order for these 4, just know that, there are some references in all of these 4 which pop up in other

Been into Nasuverse since 2006/2007 and this is the most accurate description of Fate-side of the Nasuverse.
The starting point is and always been the visual novel. The rest is just a spin-off. Once you grasp the Fuyuki's Holy Grail War the rest is simple.
Minor nitpick, you cannot directly jump into El-Melloi series after Fate/Stay Night. You need to go through Fate/Zero first.
Yep, I include Zero as part of the Fuyuki saga! I do feel like enough of the spinoffs reference it that in order to get the best experience you should still watch it before the spinoffs.

Fate/Zero spoils nothing that actually matters about Stay Night. There are things that happened at the same time as it's ending that it explicitly didn't show so they could till be reveals late. The actual big Twist Reveals of the various Routes have no relevance to anything in Fate/Zero. There are two things that were technically originally twists that watching Zero first gives away, but counting as still in any way twists is a Joke, its like how the first Batman comic ever made technically presents Bruce Wayne being Batman as a twist reveal at the end. Saber being King Arthur is literally the entire selling point of the franchise, and Sakura being both Rin's and more important then the first two routes let on may not be as universally well known but anyone who's at all circles around Fate/ for a while before jumping has gotten the memo, she's all over the promotion for the Heaven's Feel movies.
I love will people make that Star Wars reference as ana argument agaisnt watching Zero first when i also recommend watching those Prequels first, inf act I recommend only watching episodes I-III the rest is overrated.
I started with Prisma Illya and do not regret that decision at all.

I'll be honest I completely forgot it existed and even throughout the proofreading/beta reading phase no one brought it up KGJRKRGJKKJGRK honestly it's skippable and doesn't add much (if anything it makes the extra timeline weaker) but I'll add a note in the description about it.

@@yesman7675 Thanks, it’s just with all the toxicity that happens in the fate fandom, I always feel a sense of worry that if I like Shirou (I don’t care which version, they’re all the same to me), then somebody is going to criticize me for it. I do tell myself to also respect others if they don’t agree with me, but it’s hard.

I personally think you can start almost anywhere that isn't a direct sequel to something (Or Prisma Illya cause it's anime of all time) Besides Fate Zero only gives minor spoilers to Stay Night and completely works as a stand alone story. Being one of my favorites of all time in fact, even without the addition of Unlimited Bladeworks lore. It's an only add on feature if anything
